@bpietronicco what kristimh80 said, so glad you did the ERA! And so excited for your next try now that you know this! Just curious, when they do that test does it necessarily mean that every cycle you'd need more at a certain time or can it fluctuate in a woman from cycle to cycle?
AFM, I talked with DH and am feeling a lot better. It's exactly what @becca07024411 said to @ChristenMA83 about having a plan ahead so that it makes it easier to focus forward on that. Putting together a plan has helped me get out of this funk the last few days and I'm feeling more back to my normal. So you know I've been feeling like since this is our last embryo that we want to do the ERA just in case, so we know we did everything diagnostically that we could. Well, I drafted an email to our head nurse last night, had DH read it, read it to my SIL who's a NP to make sure it was professional, wouldn't make things awkward at the clinic, etc. and then sent it. In it I asked what our options were for doing the ERA and stated our rationale for wanting it. I explained that we need that peace of mind that we did everything we could before this next and last FET. I said maybe it would be different if I weren't going to be 44 in a few weeks and had more than one embryo left. I talked with another nurse at the clinic today, and I know that the other dr there does the endo biopsies (I think it's the endo scratch but they call it this) and she also looked and suggested i get another sonohysterogram which can be done at the same time as the biopsy. Don't know about the ERA yet but the other nurse will get back to me on that end of week. In the meantime, started BCP last night (ohhh the familiar nausea yuck!) but I feel we are getting to a plan that will give us the confidence we used every tool we could (even if paying out of pocket, so what!!!) to make sure we give this last embie the best chance for survival.
@kristimh80 could you please remind me, what date was your ERA biopsy and then how long between that and your FET was it? Did you need to do another month of suppression between the ERA and your FET? Trying to get in my mind the timeframe we may be talking about if indeed they let us do this!
@momifbysea Had my biopsy on June 5th, then started CD1 of meds on June 21st. They had me on BCP's while waiting on results, which take around 10 days. I had very light spotting so called them because didn't know if would count as AF or what being the circumstances. On the 20th, they did BW and US and deemed it fine to start meds for the next FET.

@suziev3 I answered a few people by saying my sex life is a private matter, that makes them realize just how personal that question really is and makes them just as uncomfortable as I want them to be without giving away my story if I don't want to.
@momifbysea so glad you're starting to formulate a plan. It really is comforting to be able to focus forward. That's what helped with our loss and now with this failed transfer. Otherwise is like trying to get to a destination without a map.
@Momifbysea I guess it could fluctuate if natural cycles but since they are artificially controlling the cycle through hormones it would be the same- I just started my lupron shots last night and transfer is scheduled for August 27th- because of the results I am doing one less day of lupron and one more day of progesterone. I stop my progesterone and estrogen tomorrow night and my AF should then start. Crazy how they can control everything.
Ok, the doctor just called me... my 1st beta is.... 229!!! I am freaking out with excitement Can't wait to see how the other betas went today! FX for you ladies!!!

Beta results in and shown below. Thank you for all the positive thoughts being sent my way. Everyone here has truly been so incredibly helpful and just so supportive. Prior to "meeting" you all, I didn't know of a single woman who had gone through IVF. It just isn't something that we discuss openly and I hope we can take steps in our own lives to change the dialogue around us so that all other women/men dealing with infertility know that they are not alone and that this isn't some uncommon issue. Okay, sorry about the rant, but you guys really are wonderful and I am just so thankful.
Second beta came in at 1290 from 192 on Thursday. I have my third beta on Wednesday.
@lizy181 Happy for you!! You're so right...this group has been such a wonderful support system. I feel blessed to be with you girls

So much good news this week already! CONGRATS @Drove2u!, @leilee101, @lizy181 and @kimberlyshae! You guys are keeping me in a positive mood for my Wed transfer.

@tinjp78 Of course you have those feelings. Who wouldn't? I have felt that way plenty of times. You are strong to be able to come to this board and support others. It's an emotional roller coaster, but glad you are determined to stay positive. What are the next steps for you?
@tinjp78 I know exactly how you feel. My last FET in March ending in a CP. I was in a dark place after that and felt completely broken!! It's not fair that we have to go through that. For five years, I've told myself, "It will happen when it's supposed to happen," but after my CP, I just wanted to know why??? It seemed like everytime I opened facebook, it was another pregnancy announcement. You're time is coming! I am praying for you and your recovery. Lots of hugs!!!
TTC since 2013
4 failed IUI's
1 failed fresh IVF transfer December 2017
1 failed frozen IVF transfer March 2018 - endind in CP
@tinjp78 don't give up - I, too have felt that way many times. Pregnancy announcements all over facebook (I actually deactivated my account due to that reason alone), and seeing so many wonderful ladies on these boards move on. It is so hard. Please just keep going, you WILL get there!
@Momifbysea to be COMPLETELY honest... I had a couple glasses of wine during my TWW on my last FET because I was a nervous wreck. I read a forum where ladies where asking if it was ok to drink and one of the girls said, "Drink til it's pink," so I thought, yea, I don't see why not. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I know they tell you not to drink any alcohol. I also only did best rest for 2 days instead of 3 because we had dinner plans with DH's boss and important clients. For this FET, I did everything by the book. The doc told me bed rest for 3 days... I did 5 just to be safe. Also, I've done a really good job of not stressing. I think controlling your stress is the secret to this miserable process (obvisouly it's not the only factor, but a big one!). I'm still a little nervous just because this is as far as I've ever gotten but I'm doing my absolute best to try to relax and not stress as much as possible. I hope this helps in some way!
@Momifbysea No, we didn't do PGS testing. Our last retreival, they got 16 eggs. 10 fertilized and we ended up with 5 by day 6. Oh yea... we also transferred 2 embryos this time and only did 1 the first two times.
@kimberlyshae - Yep, tomorrow is the day! I'm feeling a bit more positive than normal, having seen so much good news on this board. Physically I'm feeling the PIO side-effects that I refer to as "Have I been hit by a truck, or am I on PIO?" I just want to curl up in bed. I'm lucky enough to be off from work (teacher), but my son (for whom I am obviously so so thankful) is currently sick and he's a needy snotty mess, so no rest for me. My husband will be off from work the rest of the week, so my rest will begin tomorrow.
@tinjp78 and @Momifbysea - I'm glad you girls are sticking around. I've always found it hard to stay engaged on the boards while I'm grieving a negative result, but ultimately I've found it helpful to see the progress of others' journeys. Your time will come!

I haven't posted in quite a while as I was in the limbo regarding my own situation but I just wanted to stop by and say how happy I am for you for @kristimh80! You've been such a support for so many people on these forums and I'm glad things are finally working out for you this month . @Drove2u Congrats on the heart beat, this is such a huge milestone. @Momifbysea I am so sorry it didn't work this month but please do not give up on your remaining little embryo. Maybe we will cross paths on the August board? @ChristenMA83 I think you have a great plan for your next steps. We have to use a donor due to MFI too and we already have an older child from this donor. I was initially scared to go this route but it's worked out just great. Feel free to PM me for any donor related questions you might have.
AFM, I will be moving onto the August FET board and will be hopefully doing a natural cycle FET. Thank you everyone for being so supportive when I was at my lowest point after my TMFR in May
I just wanted to share this really cool thing that happened to me during my transfer on the 19th. As soon as the doc put the embryos in, my uterus immediately started like... pulsating. I don't know how to describe it... but my uterus started reacting immediately. I saw it on the screen. My doc said... "It's never done that before, right?" and DH and I were like, "Nooooo!" It was actually pulling the embryos towards my lining. Super cool! I wasn't sure if anyone else had experienced that but I wanted to share.
Quick PIO question: is it recommended to switch sides each night for comfort or medical reasons? I’ve done the right side 2 nights in a row bc I had a crazy bruise on my left, and tonight my DH has softball so won’t be around to inject me and the right side is easier when I’m solo. Can I do the same side 3 nights in a row??
@sidilly Good to see you around again! Can't wait to see your progress in August!
@kimberlyshae That is really cool! Did they give you Valium? They always do at my clinic to relax everything. For my transfer, my embryo actually got stuck in the catheter and they had to do it twice. My doctor said the 2 before me that it happened to got pregnant, so that was reassuring. Crazy things that can happen during FET that you never think about!

@leilee101 It's really whatever your comfortable with! I always inject on my right and have never bothered with my left since I'[m right handed and could never make that happen if I tried! After awhile, the area will almost become numb feeling, so you won't even care. As long as you get the injection, it doesn't matter.

@leilee101 - Just seconding what @kristimh80 said, it's totally fine to stick with one side if that's more comfortable. I asked that question to my nurse once because one side was really bruised and painful and she said it doesn't matter at all.

@kristimh80@suziev3@kimberlyshae@leilee101@amy8686 I'm moved by all your support. Thank you for sharing your stories, they really do encourage me. I actually just want to keep a positive mindset in all these and keep on going, but these awful feelings are like road bumps (big ones) and they really give me a hard time to go past them. But hearing you say that you were here in my situation before fuels my engine to keep moving, that's why I still stick around.
Afm, I'm estrogen priming now and probably will start stimming around mid August and if all goes well, we'll have and ER too before the month ends.
@ChristenMA83
I just wanted to say I’m so sorry. How are you feeling today? BTW, I love your
response to “when are you going to have kids?” Bringing up your sex life is
such an awesome awkward response lol
bpietronicco glad
to hear the ERA went well and you figured out that you need more progesterone! Whooo
hooo!!
leilee101 congrats
on an awesome second beta! And thank you for asking about my injury. It is much
much better. I ended up never even getting a steroid injection. I’m still sore
as hell and terrified to sneeze. Lol. I think that will be very painful but I’m
able to function now and go on as normal. Just have to be a bit careful and not
over do it. I did have to cancel my work trip too which sucked. RE: PIO shots.
I’m only able to do the shots myself on the left side. And DH does the right. I’ve
done the left side 5 days in a row. And sometimes the right 3 days in a row. I
have no system to it. Haha. But it’s been fine.
Momifbysea I’m so
sorry. I haven’t had a chance to say that yet but so glad to hear that you are
coming up with a plan. Please keep us updated.

welcome to the group! And congrats on an awesome beta!!
lizy181 great
beta number! And good luck at your third beta tomorrow!! Will be stalking the

bebesparrow I was
6 weeks, 2 days at the ultrasound to hear the heartbeat. I go back next
Wednesday again for the 7 week ultrasound.
suziev3 good
luck at transfer tomorrow!!! Will be thinking of you!!!
tinjp78 I know
exactly how you feel. I’ve been there. Just remember that your time will come
obviously. So excited for your ER. It will be here in no time.
@kristimh80 how are you doing? When’s your next appt? btw, I don’t
see the google sheet any longer. Did you take it down or am I just not seeing
it?
AFM: I still feel like this pregnancy won’t work out. Just
because I feel like why would it? I usually have really bad luck especially
when it comes to IF. But I guess I’ll just go week by week. I don’t think I’ll
feel totally comfortable until the anatomy scan.
bebesparrow - Oooh, is your utlrasound still scheduled for tomorrow? How exciting!
tinjp78 - I am also so impressed with the support you are giving despite what you are going through. You are awesome!
@kimberlyshae- That is really cool what you saw on the monitor during your ultrasound. I saw a youtube video of the uterus doing something like that after the transfer. That would be cool to see happening in your own body.
@Drove2u- I am glad to hear you are feeling better!
@Drove2u Awe hate you're feeling that way! For the most part, I'm taking it all one day at a time. Some days I don't feel pregnant but then I'm hit in the head super tired and reminds me. But I'm like you...it probably won't feel real until down the road when you can see more. My next appt isn't til the 10th...seems like forever! @kristimh80 yaaaaas! They gave me valium Thank goodness!! My last 2 transfers were really complicated bc the doc said I have a tilted uterus. But this one only took 10 minutes, which made me feel so much better!
@sidilly thanks, it's good to hear stories of success with donor sperm. And the more DH has been talking about it the more comfortable I am with it, since my main concern is his being OK with it.
@Drove2u I'm doing well, thanks for checking in on me. I'm hyper-focused on health right now. Researching the Blood Sugar Solution diet recommended in Starts with the Egg and planning to start the 10-day detox on Sunday. With our first IVF & retrieval I didn't feel like I really did all I could diet wise to prepare for the best possible egg quality and I think these three months off will give me the required time to correct that. Plus I need to lose at least the 16 lbs I put on through the first half of the year with IVF/FET/PG/MC/FET.
Our follow up with the RE is a week from tomorrow. They originally wanted to schedule it for today, but I pushed it out a week to give us more time....kinda wishing I wouldn't have done that since I'm ready to have the discussion now, but in the end it doesn't really matter.
@tinjp78 I hope you next round of stimming starts of well. Although I am sad you are having to deal with the feeling of jealous and sadness, I think it is very healthy that you are able to admit those feelings. I think a lot of people
are afraid to admit when they are jealous and then it just makes them feel guilty on top of it all. I think those are all totally normal and felt the same thing. Not that I wasn’t happy for someone else or wished they didn’t have something just because I
didn’t, but it just makes you sad and left out and wish for just a taste of what they must be feeling. I agree with you though that even though it can sometimes add to the left out feeling at times, I do appreciate seeing everyone’s successes because it does
give hope that it can and does work out eventually, even if not like we expect it to.
@Momifbysea I hope you get a good response from you doctor about what you wrote him. I totally understand trying to balance speaking up for yourself, but also not wanting to step on any toes and maybe make them irriated and take it personally
against you. I think the fact that you are trying to be sensitive to that shows that you are probably not going to come across as cross as you think you might. My doctor is similar in that he does do endo scratches, but ERAs are not standard practice, but
WILL if you request one or they suspect something may be off, but with one embryo left I think it should be totally reasonable to request one. I can’t imagine what it would hurt them.
@kristimh80@kimberlyshae Question about the valium- so it is standard practice for my nurse to write a prescription for 5mg valium for the transfer, I asked my doctor if it was necessary to take it and he said that I didn’t have to and
it was just to help relax people if they need it, so I didn’t fill it the first time. (A little history - Okay, so yes, I am generally a pretty high strung person, but handle stress pretty well, but I HATE the feeling of being a little foggy/drowsy/tipsy/sedated/etc.
Like, for some reason I find it sometimes makes me more anxious. For me ERs or surgeries I have always asked for the tiniest dose of sedation ever and am normally completely awake, talking, 100% coherent, not drowsy, before they even wheel me back to recovery.
Like, alert to the point I could have totally driven myself home after the ER if allowed.) So anyway, I am wondering if your doctors DID recommended that it would help someway with the transfer? I have never taken Valium and would be a little nervous of
how it would make me feel, so I am leaning towards not taking it again, but it seems like everyone is given it and talks about how much better it made them feel and partially contributed to their success. Any thoughts?
@ChristenMA83 I’m glad you and your husband are on the same page, or at least comfortable discussing the options. I think men sometimes do have a little harder time with the idea of donor sperm than a woman may have about donor eggs, so
the fact that your husband is open to it shows his willingness to move forward with a family. Again, we have not had to go down this path, but the discussion did come up. I don’t think there is one right answer for everyone, but it does sound like you are
covering all your bases with trying to increase you success while still giving your husband’s sperm one more shot. I’m not sure if this will help you, but I have heard a couple people who have had losses and then go on to have another baby and from people
who have adopted embryos go on to say they 100% sincerely feel like the baby they do end up having is the baby they was meant to be and they wouldn’t change anything about them for the world. Good luck at your appointment next week!
Re: July 2018 FET
@kimberlyshae @lizy181 @leilee101 thinking of you all today and hopeful you get good results!
AFM, I talked with DH and am feeling a lot better. It's exactly what @becca07024411 said to @ChristenMA83
about having a plan ahead so that it makes it easier to focus forward on that.

@tinjp78 and @Momifbysea - I'm glad you girls are sticking around. I've always found it hard to stay engaged on the boards while I'm grieving a negative result, but ultimately I've found it helpful to see the progress of others' journeys. Your time will come!

Moving on to domestic infant adoption!
Afm, I'm estrogen priming now and probably will start stimming around mid August and if all goes well, we'll have and ER too before the month ends.
@ChristenMA83 I just wanted to say I’m so sorry. How are you feeling today? BTW, I love your response to “when are you going to have kids?” Bringing up your sex life is such an awesome awkward response lol
bpietronicco glad to hear the ERA went well and you figured out that you need more progesterone! Whooo hooo!!
leilee101 congrats on an awesome second beta! And thank you for asking about my injury. It is much much better. I ended up never even getting a steroid injection. I’m still sore as hell and terrified to sneeze. Lol. I think that will be very painful but I’m able to function now and go on as normal. Just have to be a bit careful and not over do it. I did have to cancel my work trip too which sucked. RE: PIO shots. I’m only able to do the shots myself on the left side. And DH does the right. I’ve done the left side 5 days in a row. And sometimes the right 3 days in a row. I have no system to it. Haha. But it’s been fine.
Momifbysea I’m so sorry. I haven’t had a chance to say that yet but so glad to hear that you are coming up with a plan. Please keep us updated.
kimberlyshae welcome to the group! And congrats on an awesome beta!!
lizy181 great beta number! And good luck at your third beta tomorrow!! Will be stalking the board. Haha
bebesparrow I was 6 weeks, 2 days at the ultrasound to hear the heartbeat. I go back next Wednesday again for the 7 week ultrasound.
suziev3 good luck at transfer tomorrow!!! Will be thinking of you!!!
tinjp78 I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been there. Just remember that your time will come obviously. So excited for your ER. It will be here in no time.
@kristimh80 how are you doing? When’s your next appt? btw, I don’t see the google sheet any longer. Did you take it down or am I just not seeing it?
AFM: I still feel like this pregnancy won’t work out. Just because I feel like why would it? I usually have really bad luck especially when it comes to IF. But I guess I’ll just go week by week. I don’t think I’ll feel totally comfortable until the anatomy scan.
bebesparrow - Oooh, is your utlrasound still scheduled for tomorrow? How exciting!
tinjp78 - I am also so impressed with the support you are giving despite what you are going through. You are awesome!
@kimberlyshae- That is really cool what you saw on the monitor during your ultrasound. I saw a youtube video of the uterus doing something like that after the transfer. That would be cool to see happening in your own body.
@Drove2u- I am glad to hear you are feeling better!

@tinjp78 I hope you next round of stimming starts of well. Although I am sad you are having to deal with the feeling of jealous and sadness, I think it is very healthy that you are able to admit those feelings. I think a lot of people are afraid to admit when they are jealous and then it just makes them feel guilty on top of it all. I think those are all totally normal and felt the same thing. Not that I wasn’t happy for someone else or wished they didn’t have something just because I didn’t, but it just makes you sad and left out and wish for just a taste of what they must be feeling. I agree with you though that even though it can sometimes add to the left out feeling at times, I do appreciate seeing everyone’s successes because it does give hope that it can and does work out eventually, even if not like we expect it to.
@Momifbysea I hope you get a good response from you doctor about what you wrote him. I totally understand trying to balance speaking up for yourself, but also not wanting to step on any toes and maybe make them irriated and take it personally against you. I think the fact that you are trying to be sensitive to that shows that you are probably not going to come across as cross as you think you might. My doctor is similar in that he does do endo scratches, but ERAs are not standard practice, but WILL if you request one or they suspect something may be off, but with one embryo left I think it should be totally reasonable to request one. I can’t imagine what it would hurt them.
@kristimh80 @kimberlyshae Question about the valium- so it is standard practice for my nurse to write a prescription for 5mg valium for the transfer, I asked my doctor if it was necessary to take it and he said that I didn’t have to and it was just to help relax people if they need it, so I didn’t fill it the first time. I have never taken Valium and would be a little nervous of how it would make me feel, so I am leaning towards not taking it again, but it seems like everyone is given it and talks about how much better it made them feel and partially contributed to their success. Any thoughts?
@ChristenMA83 I’m glad you and your husband are on the same page, or at least comfortable discussing the options. I think men sometimes do have a little harder time with the idea of donor sperm than a woman may have about donor eggs, so the fact that your husband is open to it shows his willingness to move forward with a family. Again, we have not had to go down this path, but the discussion did come up. I don’t think there is one right answer for everyone, but it does sound like you are covering all your bases with trying to increase you success while still giving your husband’s sperm one more shot. I’m not sure if this will help you, but I have heard a couple people who have had losses and then go on to have another baby and from people who have adopted embryos go on to say they 100% sincerely feel like the baby they do end up having is the baby they was meant to be and they wouldn’t change anything about them for the world. Good luck at your appointment next week!
