So yum and I love that they require no baking! Definitely not using the oven in this heat...
ETA: @lindsayleigh1989 for real! Mom got me 4 but really I only like 1 of them. I actually don't like the ones where you lift a piece of the short, I prefer the clip down ones.
@lindsayleigh1989 and @kissableviv I totally agree! My mom also got me a bunch I didn’t even realize they were nursing tops, but more are more pajamas. I now need them to leave the house. Getting dressed for nursing is such a chore!
How are all you ladies doing it? Do you just wear your regular clothes and take off your tops? Are sticking with easy pull down dresses? I’m going on a small vacation in 2 weeks and really need to figure it out lol
@catftm I typically wear a nursing tank or undercover mama tank underneath a t-shirt (nursing or not). If the over shirt isn't a nursing top, I just pull it up and clip the tank down to feed her.
@catftm2018 Im just living in my nursing tanks. I have a few clip down ones, and one pull down one. When I go out I often will do a nicer tank I can pull down over one time or I do a nursinf bra and loose tee shirt with a think tank underneath
I haven’t even been bothering with nursing tanks this time, the hate the built in shelf bra, so I just wear cotton tanks or camis that are loose enough for me to pull my boob out the top. If I’m going out In public I stick a shirt over it. Shirt goes up, boob goes out top of tank, and I nurse without showing much. I do have a couple nicer nursing tops from old navy, and a dress from latched mama. Latched mama has some cute tops but it’s pricy. I’ll wear any dress that’s stretchy enough to pull my boob out the top or side, though it’s less discrete for public nursing.
@catftm2018 I’m living in nursing tanks too. They’re so comfy and easy! When it gets cold out it’s tougher I think getting dressed for nursing but I wore a lot of cardigans with ds1. @lindsayleigh1989 my mom and sister have found me nursing shirts at salvation army’s, even the adorable Jessica Simpson stuff (that is my fav!). The regular tank top prices are ridiculous even, it sucks!
I’m having oversupply issues starting. I haven’t noticed them until now which seems weird. The babies are two months old and we’ve been ebf for about 3 weeks. My guys are chocking when I have a let down and they get so mad. I hate it! I can’t do block feeding with two and looked up positions to try helping but it’s a little impractical, I try to nurse them at the same time as much as possible. I can contact an lc but don’t find them as helpful this time with twins. So far they haven’t given me new advice. What’s weird about the oversupply this time is that both boobs are having big letdowns (makes sense with the twins though, they need more milk than just one baby). My right boob is always my stellar producer and this time my left is going crazy when baby nurses too. I keep one twin on a specific side and it’s so sad to see them frustrated with all the milk!
@crabcake18 No experience on nursing twins or 2 at once but I’d look for a twin BF support group either online (i’m Sure there’s something on FB) or in person. Oversupply sucks, I feel like mine is finally getting under control at just over 2 weeks.
Pumping question - i just started to do morning pumps, per LC suggestion. I last fed LO on right side at 6am. At 7:30 I pumped both sides and got less than 1 oz on right and 2ish ok left (last fed on 4amish). This is my first rodeo, so is this of normal supply? Less supply? Women in my family have not been milk producers so I’ve beeb worried. LO always seems full and produces more than average wet abs dry diapers, but she feeds 12-15 times a day.
Target has a special on medela nursing tanks and bras! Walmart has some cheap tanks too on online only. I mostly live in tanks that you clip down. I hate having to wear nursing pads and dealing with them in public. They make wearing a bra more difficult.
If any of you over producers want to send some of that mojo my way, I'd happily take it! Seriously still underproducing here. Thought things were getting better, but I'm lucky to get a whole 2oz from both breasts combined when I pump. It's better if DS will nurse first, but we've not been successful the last couple days. Have his appointment about his lip tie tomorrow, man I hope that helps because this baby really really wants to nurse, he just can't.
I purchased these and am highly surprised at the quality for the price. In public I basically wear these as my undershirt and a regular top over, shirt goes up and I clip the undershirt down. At home I can wear these around the house but normally just wear a big t shirt
Thanks everyone. I need to purchase some tanks what I have now is those shirts that are open on the sides. @wildtot you always know the best sales!!! Thank you! and thank you @kbernal2021 I will check those out!
@And846 that’s def a good start! My LC told me baby should be getting 2.5-3 oz per feeding. When I first pumped at like 1 week I barely got 1 oz. now at 5 weeks I get 3-4 oz when I pump in one session. To build your supply I’ve heard you can pump for 5 mins after each feeding. Maybe try that! Edited: my 2.5-3 oz is assuming you are feeding every 2.5-3 hrs. If it’s more frequent baby will need less.
My right side is still a dudd and this am baby decided to do a mini cluster feeding session starting at 330am and I literally felt dried up so I busted out the bottle at 6am in desperation. He went down and now he is still sleeping after 3.5 hrs. My left boob is leaking and my right one is chilling out lol. Question, I usually pump yo replace the am feeding that DH gives him, obviously I did not do that at 6am and went to sleep instead...should I pump and feed now, or feed and pump?? I know he will wake up soon...
What a strange afternoon/evening. LO slept in his car seat From about 2:30-4 while I took him to my 2 week postpartum checkup. When we got home he sort of clusterfed but I think really he was just fussy and gassy and couldn’t fall asleep so he kept looking for the boob for comfort. He was clearly tired but also uncomfortable and wouldn’t fall asleep, or if he did, he’d quickly wake up. I couldn’t put him down at all. Finally around 8 he conked out, but at that point he needed his diaper changed and a new onesie. so we changed him and he wailed bloody murder. then I took him into the bedroom to nurse him in the rocker, and he ate for about 2 minutes before passing out. Then we swaddled him and put him into his bassinet. So in all he was awake for close to 4 hours, but I’m not sure how much he was actually eating in that time. Gonna go to bed soon (even though it’s only 8:30) because I have a feeling it’s going to be a longgggg night of clusterfeeding and crying and not letting me put him down.
I bought some new nursing clip down tanks from H&M today. Hopefully I will end up liking them because I bought 4! I also need to replace some of my nursing bras - I didn't realize how worn they got.
@zande2016 my LO clusterfed last night too, 10,11 and then 12am. I really didn’t think he even ate that much. Then he stayed awake until 2 am, not even fussy just awake. He finally fell asleep and woke up at 6am. So I’m guessing he was gearing up to sleep for so long.
Im currently getting in a morning pumping session. I read that’s a good time to build up your supply and that you get a lot of milk in the morning. I should have done it in the middle of the night last night when LO slept, but it’s so hard to not take advantage of SLEEP!
LO had her first night yet. Up from 11:45p - 4:30a. Everything great until she was put down to sleep and she’s scream. Pick her back up, unswaddle, she’s fall asleep on my chest. Reseadfle ger sleeping and shed scream once she is laid down. It’s goibg to be a long day if no naps are had.
@And846 ugh sorry for the rough night. I always tell myself you’re bound to have them, so whenever I do, I think I’m getting it out of the way so it has to get easier. I just keep telling myself that until eventually it does get easier. Hang in there!
@zande2016 thanks! The most stressful part was i kept putting her on to feed when she kept giving me cues...only to spit the nipple out. And my boobs felt soft like that there was nothing there and she kept screaming. So i worried she was hungry and i was empty.
@and846 solidarity girl. We slept 2 he intervals minus the last part which was 2.5. He fed twice once on one boob then fell asleep and seemed like he didn't wanna wake up so went back to sleep (for 1 he) and then on the other boob for like 30 minutes and when I burped him he spit out...then just would not sleep again until 6 am when he feel asleep on my chest until 830am. Le tired.
Question. I have a bottle of pumped milk that I took out with us for about 2 hours but ended up not needing as I nursed LO. We came home and I stuck it back in the fridge but then gave it to her an hour later but she only ate half an oz then fell asleep. The bottle has been sitting out at room temp for 30 minutes now. How long can I still feed it for? I know BM is good at room temp for 4-6 hours but what about after she drank from it? My supple isn't great so I'm hoping to not waste BM.
@runsomewhere I checked kellymom on this the other day and ultimately decided to reuse the milk for my next feeding. There isnt really a clear direction one way or the other on this, but I read through the below page to make my decision.
@runsomewhere when baby already drank out of it, you have to feed sooner, even if it’s refrigerated . I’d try to use within 2 hours if you can, though it’s prob ok for longer - I’d prob do the smell test beyond 2 hours.
@runsomewherenthe AAP says it has the be used within an hour once babies lips have touched it, but the CDC says it can be used for the next feeding. FWIW I always kept it for the next feeding with my twins and never had any issues (obviously ymmv).
Darn. I didn't even think about it and I combined it with another bottle in the fridge!!! I hope it goes ok!! Now I won't combine it anymore and worst case keep it for another feed...
With some of us nearing the 1 month mark, is anyone seeing longer intervals between feeding? I know their stomachs are supposed to be able to handle more now, but I’m curious when feedings become more spaced out!
