Re: 3rd Trimester check-in w/o July 23 – New Leader Needed

• Ladies worried about early babies -- I had my baby at 35 weeks and 2 days due to preeclampsia (failed induction followed by c/s)-- and she was absolutely fine. Late preterm (I think 31-36 week) is still preemie but they often do as well as full term babies. My niece was 36 weeks; I was 36 weeks. All healthy and happy! I'm sure whatever happens, your littles will be just fine as well. They are tough! Think of all they went through just to be at this stage!

@gfgrump
Oddly enough, my baby Anne's birth story started with another unhelpful receptionist at my doctor's office. "Well, just go to Labor and Delivery. No tech here and no appointments available anyway." She probably thought I was crazy when I called because even though baby was meeting kick counts, I just felt uneasy and needed reassurance. I was really upset by it at the time, but afterwards, I was glad I went since we caught everything and got baby delivered before I got really sick.

• @gfgrump it just came with the two inserts I’m not sure if it was a fluke or not but I’m not complaining. They were slightly different in color but otherwise the same I bet it’s in your box. Also that magic beans guy has to be making money hand over fist and I really think he needs to invest in a better camera/sound setup. Heads up on Anne with an E some other people who love anne of green gables hated it so if you are in that camp…sorry L

@businesswife A extra few days to prepare will work wonders for making you get ready. My house is STILL nowhere near ready but a little progress gets made here and there, it’s just getting harder and harder for me to really get anything done. I swear the weekends are shrinking. I know you want everything to be perfect but I keep reminding myself that all the baby really NEEDS is a place to sleep, something to eat, diapers, and basic sponge bath supplies. Whenever I really break it down like that I realize that even if baby came tomorrow we would get by just fine. Granted yes I really would like to have about a million other things done but most of the anxiety/pressure is just coming from myself. I’m trying to practice the manta of my house probably won’t be ‘company clean’ for the next 18yrs so I mine as well get used to letting that stuff go now. My success at that though has been kinda crappy but I’m getting just tired enough to get there. Also its totally normal to ebb and flow on how active you are on the boards we are here to support you when you need it just like you have supported so many of us. If you need time away to focus that’s what you should do, of course that being said I’m glad you checked in I was actually kind of wondering about you and hoping you were ok.

• Thanks @2MomsHoping <3 I have been trying to remind myself of the same thing. If the baby came tomorrow, our bed may still be on the floor, but we also have a babybox to put beside, and a snugglenest. Baby's dresser may be backordered until the day before my due date, but we do have the pack n play we plan to set up for downstairs changes. I have accepted the fact that I need to wash baby clothes and prep diapers before the dresser comes in now, so I'm going to see how far I get with that, and just put things back in the bins once they are clean and dry/ ready to wear. And I guess, worst case, baby's first bath happens in a regular washtub! lol I know it'll be okay, but I'm just so over it because I have been trying to enlist DHs help with all this FOR MONTHS, and now that it's down to the wire, all I see is doghair everywhere and mountains of unopened baby stuff. Sigh... Today's not over yet, right? ;)
• Lurking*** @BusinessWife in all reality all you HAVE to have is a car seat and diapers... At this time of year clothing is optional for all involved... The kid can sleep in a box if needed (or most likely in your arms).. I know there is a strong drive to have everything perfect but kiddos often laugh at our perfect plans. Also most of our kids first baths have been in sinks...(also FFMC as babies they were lucky to get a bath once a week unless there was some catastrophic poo-splosion. Heck even now at 3 the twins only get a bath/shower twice a week. Hang in there it will all work out.

• @BusinessWife **Lurking** Just to give you some perspective, when ds was born, we only had his car seat and PNP. They literally came in the morning he was born. So, don't freak out, when we came home, we only had the diapers from the hospital. Ds was born at 35 weeks. We got everything we needed, and it all worked out. Deep breaths, mama, you got this. It all works out. I promise.
• Yup, same here. Ordered car seat from hospital room and husband set up the pack n play that I had gotten at my shower. It actually turned out for the best since I could figure out what she liked and order those things rather than wasting money on stuff she didn't end up liking.

• @BusinessWife we've actually never used a lot of the baby stuff or barely used it. Baby bath tub was harder to use than what they showed is in the hospital, so we only used it once. Laid a beach towel on the counter and did a sponge bath once a week until she could sit up. Then moved to a "shower", where we used the wand to get her wet, wash with water off, then rinse. It's hard when you want everything perfect and ready, but it'll be okay!
