@kerco925 I’m in the same boat. I wonder if the theory will be true for us: extreme nausea with girls, not so much with boys? Try not to worry too much.
I’m with you girls I hope that wives tale is true as we are hoping for a girl this time and I have been very sick! Last time time I was sick too but it was mostly food adversions this time it’s actual vomiting. Ugh!
Knottie sounds like like you are definitely going through the ringer like so many of us! I’m struggling a lot too but at the end it’s all worth it and your baby will help you forget how bad everything is now. Please consider changing your username so we can better identify with you.
Haha I’ve been over here wondering the opposite. With DD I was nauseous but I feel way worse this time. Or maybe I just forgot- momnisia is real. Anyways, I’ve been wondering if it’s a boy this time becuase everything is more intense and this pregnancy feels so different.
@meggyme Me too girl. It looks like I am hiding a basketball under my shirt and it is literally all bloat. So. Backed. Up. And I am doing every single thing you can do, short of taking actual medication, and I can’t seem to solve it. Hot water with lemon, prunes, fruit and veggies, drinking water, exercise. Nothing is helping. I’m so uncomfortable I am thinking of asking the midwife about changing prenatals at my first visit.
Sorry if this is TMI, but for you ladies that are backed up, try changing your position when you use the bathroom. If you have a step stool, set your feet on it so you’re more in a squat position. It feels awkward and silly, but if it’s effective, it’s so worth it.
@navete I’ve been trying that with both the side of the tub and our step stool with no success. I literally don’t have the urge to go. I’ve been hydrating but I might have to break out the prunes. I have dulcolax but haven’t done any research about it yet.
@maggiemadeit I’ve been taking the same prenatal since I was pregnant 2-3 years ago so I don’t think it’s that. I think it’s just the hormones.

@meggyme Ah, I see. I have no clue what to do when there’s no urge besides drinking lots of water and eating a lot of fruit and veggies. One of my friends suggested flaxseeds, but I’ve seen some concerns about its safety for pregnancy, so I’d ask doc first. Hope things get moving soon!
ETA: Please ignore, or check with doc first. A quick google search indicates papaya seeds (and maybe even papaya) might not be safe for pregnancy.
(Original comment) Following up on what Keikilove said: try a little bit (just a couple) of the papaya seeds for added laxative boost. Grew up in the islands and this was a known remedy.
@navete Which islands did you grow up in? I’m from Hawai’i. We use mashed up papaya when our infants are constipated. Works like a charm. I haven’t met many people who know the papaya seed trick.
I am 5 weeks 1 day. I'm trying not to worry, but with my other two I had immediate symptoms. Extreme nausea and vomiting - lost 20 lbs with my daughter- and mild nausea with my son. We have been trying for two years for this baby and I am so terrified to lose it. I feel very tired all day, but it's about 8:30pm right now and I am taking a hot bath and passing out early. I'm super bloated, and my nipples are sore to the touch. I hope the symptoms start soon... or my August 7th appointment tells me something I can go off of.
@ashley14598 Yikes, that's the worst! But I've been in your shoes! I welcome being constipated on that any day. Hope it starts to get better for you!
@cannabisandketo Awe I feel you girl! I'm 5 week and 3 days today and swear 2 weeks ago I had a million more "symptoms" but they disappeared. But I am also tired a lot as well. I keep reading that at 6 weeks it usually starts, but maybe you'll get lucky this time around and will have no morning sickness

I have one extreme or the other. This weekend I was fine barely nauseous, woke up this morning and thought my insides were coming out dry heaving so hard. My upper back is really sore, like in my shoulder and I still feel sick. Today definitely feels like a Monday and all I want to do is go back to bed and get rid of this head ache, tummy ache, and back ache.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
@keikilove I grew up over near Fiji and PNG. The riper the papaya, the more laxative the effect . I was fed the seeds whenever I had a particularly bad case of being blocked. Tastes pretty bad but a couple seeds usually do the trick (I scared myself googling this for my prior post but on second thought, if it really is dangerous, I feel like it'd be well known in island communities). It's funny that only (or mostly) island people know this effect. While on vacation in Costa Rica MH decided to order a papaya smoothie. I warned him that he'd soon regret it, and he laughed me off. Soon enough he was running to the bathroom ha. Hawai'i is beautiful; how wonderful it must be to live there!
@LEIkCot I feel you! My resting heart rate is back down to 55 bpm (peaked at 61 a couple weeks ago) and my first appt is not until 8/20. Hoping this is just a sign of good heart health for both us!
@beachbaby0523 fx! It definitely has me a little worried, but you’re probably right! Mine definitely runs low (used to jog regularly) pre-pregnancy, just thought it would stay elevated through pregnancy.
@LElkCot I think this is normal. Your resting rate goes up when you heart is working harder as your blood volume expands rapidly at the beginning, and then it should drop when your heart adjusts to the extra workload. I think it’s a good sign that your body is adjusting to pregnancy
@bdesterhouse We are living the same life. My symptoms were gone & then today was hell. Hope tomorrow is better for both of us!
@navete That smoothie story is classic :-) Yeah, if it was dangerous to eat the seeds I think we’d all know in the islands. Today I read that papaya enzyme pills are more effective than Tums for heartburn/bloat. Gonna check that out...
I have nausea (but thankfully no vomiting) every time I eat something. And less of an appetite in general. I had the appetite loss with my first pregnancy but never had nausea so I´m hoping that means it´s a girl
I am also so incredibly tired that by 1030 I am passed out on the couch which is really early because here in Spain that is when most people eat dinner!
