Re: What My Pregnant Self is Eating - w/o 7/12-7/19

  • I had my first really bad pregnancy craving yesterday and asked hubby to stop on the way home from work for lemon sorbet. I have been seriously turned off to sweets so far, but I NEEDED lemon sorbet last night. It did not disappoint.

@3rdtime_charmed Does that hold true for pickles too or are most of the micronutrients and vitamins comprised during the pickling process?
  • @navete I ate like 4 pickles at lunch today :) followed by pb+j (so weird, I know) but I had to run out for apricot jam because I needed it, no other jam would do!
  • @3rdtime_charmed I've been all about cucumbers lately so that is good to hear. Sliced up with some olive oil, salt and pepper. I can't get enough!  At least it's a healthy craving.
  • @navete I would assume so! The nutrients would be in the juice, the only problem would be all the added salt I guess. Fermentation generally makes things better but most pickles aren’t truly fermented.

  • At 1030 this morning I went to Burger King to get a whopper...ugh it was so good.
  • Made the hubby take me to IHOP this morning. Who am I?!
  • The only way I don’t feel nauseous is when I’m full, so basically eating everything! THis does not bode well for not gaining a ton!!
  • ... I bought 4 bags of Cheetos at the grocery store this morning because I couldn’t decide which kind I wanted.
  • I can tell you I’m definitely NOT eating eggs or drinking coffee.... so sad, as I usually love both!
  • Made guacamole for dinner, it tasted like dirt! Husband said it was fine and that I was just being weird.

  • I've been eating pretty normally so far, other than Sprite and cheez it's for breakfast after dry heaving, haha. Otherwise no real cravings yet. The only aversion I've had so far was French fries the other night- first time I've actually thrown up, so I feel like I'm not doing too bad!
  • I have a permanent metallic taste in my mouth and lost 800gms in 2 appointments 4 days apart I just didn't want to eat anything. Then yesterday I drove 45 minutes for a cola slushy (i live rural) and since then I want ALL THE FOOD
  • Seriously I think ive eaten like 12 carb meals in 2 days
  • @mamaoftwomonkeys same. I can only stomach a few sips of coffee first thing in the morning but I need vanilla almond milk (I usually only drink black coffee). My egg aversion just showed up on Saturday though. It never stopped all 39w last pregnancy so I’m curious to see if this time will be the same way. Poor DH is banned from cooking them in my presence again.
  • @christac1010 I remember my best friend complaining about eggs with her first pregnancy and not getting it, but I’m 100% on board with banning them now. I vetoed my husband’s lunch suggestion yesterday of bagel and egg sandwiches with no remorse! Haha
  • @lucysmom2016 sprite and cheez it’s are the best combo!!!

i havent had any real cravings really so far except I really want panang curry tofu from my favorite Thai restaurant— not sure that’s pg related tho. I haven’t had much of an appetite this pregnancy which is weird for me.

Check your Ritz crackers! Some are being recalled due to having whey powder that may have been contaminated with salmonella. Full list of affected products (primarily Ritz crackers with cheese products or the mixed cookie containers) can be found here: https://us.mondelezinternational.com/~/media/MondelezCorporate/us/uploads/downloads/press-releases/2018/Ritz-Recall-2108.pdf

I know I munch on Ritz to help the nausea, hope none of you have been indulging on any of these!

  • I just pretty much demanded a cheeseburger from a specific local chain. (McMenamins, in case any of you ladies are also Oregonians!) We have stuff to make this at home, but I needed one from this restaurant. Thank goodness for postmates!

@catlady2015 Check out the ritz cracker recall. I think it’s for their cracker sandwiches, but just in case.

@abbykwail I’ve been to McMenamins, but not in awhile and I don’t recall their burgers. They have some awesome locations though.

  • @meggyme they are my favorite spot(s) to get burgers, but also maybe it is the Portland ketchup? I don't know but it is 3 minutes away and I'm excited!

So pre-pregnancy me thought taco bell's new nacho fries sounded ridiculous, and gross. 5 weeks pregnant me is grateful no one ever listens to me, including me, because they are in fact delicious. Especially if you swap out the cheese dip for sour cream.
