@meggyme Summer rain sounds so nice right now! Well, maybe for 1 or 2 days lol. That’s gonna make it tough to plan weekend activities with your friends. Are you guys into board games and such? Or I guess you could go out for food and a movie?
It's supposed to rain all weekend here, too, and of course today is the day of our big summer BBQ that we're hosting Damn. We'll be stuck inside. There are 18-20 people coming so I was REALLY hoping we'd be able to make use of our indoor and outdoor space to accommodate everyone. Sigh.
@meggyme that's a good idea! I'll put out some cards, board games and dominoes. We'll turn on some summery music, make a pitcher of mojitoes (well, not for me) and pretend it's a nice summery day
I took the girl for an early morning grocery shop, which is our customary Saturday morning activity, while my husband slept. Heading to the park or pool shortly. Then I will run while my daughter naps this afternoon.
We have a family birthday dinner tonight for my sister. I am so excited because we are going to a restaurant that takes gluten-free very seriously (I am celiac) and they have a dedicated fryer! I am going to eat my weight in onion rings, a food I can literally never eat.
@maggiemadeit we also have a family birthday dinner at a place with a gluten free menu tonight!!
My DH's cousin announced a pregnancy (due in Jan) and it was so hard not to chime in and say 'hey us too! But March!' but once we tell I really want to get closer to her so we can talk/commiserate together!
@abbykwail Aw, that would be so nice to have a real life pregnancy buddy! I don’t have very many Mom friends, but my cousin and I were expecting within a few a months of each other with my first, and it was great to have someone to talk to.
One of my best friends is due in February. She lives across the country though. Another good friend is due in December. She was pretty excited to have a sober buddy.

@maggiemadeit A ton of my friends from grad school had babies over the last 4 years since we graduated, but we are all spread out! And I am the first one to get pregnant of the people I grew up with/see regularly so it feels kind of funny. I've met this cousin probably about 5x at family events and I always liked her so I am hoping to get her number once we tell family next week! She lives across the country from me but yes! I would love to go through this with someone I know in real life!! Don't get me wrong I am already really liking a lot of the ladies in this group, but it still isn't the same!
So we’ve only told a few people, and my stepmom, whom I’m not close with, decides to put something on Facebook today. And doesn’t see why that’s a problem. DH hasn’t told like his mom yet, I wanted to tell my Grandpa...DH and I both flipped. I hate people sometimes. I explained that she needs to apologize, she didn’t and somehow managed to blame this on my Dad. I like her so much more now, not!

@meggyme - ah, interesting. i sort of get it. while i'm sure i'll have the "is this the start of labor" question (because AHHH) i guess i could see how that's all sort of annoying. but to play devil's advocate.... when does google EVER reassure anyone?! LOL. i think google stresses me out more to be honest. i would so much rather hear answers (or similar experiences) from real people who have gone through this before. google sucks. i get 500 different answers from google and they all scare the heck out of me.
anyways, thank you for clarifying!!!
It's interesting to me that you think this way because I'm just the opposite. I'd rather google and get an answer from the Mayo Clinic or another legit site than wait around for an answer from completely random people on the internet. Especially when it's subjective or when it's a medical question that no can answer but a doctor. And if I did want real people answers, I would think seeing a few hundred answers from a google search and trying to find a consensus would be slightly more reliable than find a consensus from 4-10 answers on here.
@bdesterhouse You should go! It’s a lovely place (outside of Glasgow, haha). My father in law is from Scotland so my husband comes by these interests naturally, haha!
I managed to make it through the mall with MIL for a few hours. It felt like I ran a full marathon. On a normal day, I’m not a shopper. On a pregnant day, I’m really really not a shopper.
DH and I spent the day priming the house to paint over orange and peach. We were over there for 10 hours today and are just done in. I did wear a respirator, have massive ventilation, and took many hydration breaks. But we still have a few hundred feet to prime for coat 1, then have to go to coat 2. Likely actual colors late next week. Gearing up for another long day tomorrow.
About 5 hours in today, I started cursing myself for ever saying I didn’t like the orange! I could have been napping.
Yep, and anything else that would ever need painting in the house will be a breeze after the tall ceilings in the those rooms! Let's just hope I don't break anything else when I was over there. I was so tired closing up the house last night I walked right into the screen door to the sunroom and pulled part of it out of the frame. I totally blamed pregnancy for that one....
@maggiemadeit gluten free onion rings?! I’m SO jealous! It’s been too long since I’ve had one. Similarly the wedding I was at last night (as a bridesmaid) had a whole GF section of then dessert table. I ate 2 cupcakes and 4 cookies. It was amazing.
@catlady2015 We painted our whole house ourselves after moving in and it was a pain in the ass but so worth it in the end. It started to really feel like "ours" after putting in all that work to get it how we liked it. I hope the rest of your painting goes smoothly!
@lovesclimbing - ha!!! no no i think you have it mixed up. if i require MEDICAL advice, i’m certainly not going to google or a message board. i’m going to my doctor. i’m referring to advice from other moms about past experiences, feelings, and general questions - the things you wouldn’t run to your OB with. no Mayo Clinic necessary. sorry for the confusion
@JLaVO888 - I feel you! I normally am a shopper. I went to the mall for a bit with my mom on Friday and by the time we left I was cranky and spent! So not like me!
@catlady2015 we have painting on the to do list and it makes me nervous because I am reacting so poorly to smells...I'm impressed you've managed a whole weekend of it! We're having great weather so I did some gardening this morning, and now just sitting around feeling bloated and trying to keep my mind off my first US appointment which is tomorrow morning (AHHHHHH). I'm so nervous!
@eggsandwich2019- we have a lot of windows and doors so we opened everything up first thing and had fans going as well to dissipate the smell. Poor DH has been doing the lions share of it. We have a lot still to prime a second coat before we actually get any color on the wall. It’s thankfully going faster, we found a great edger which has tremendously cut down brush time. I feel bad for not doing more but the fumes aren’t good and I really suck at painting. I’m sure I’ll get mine when we have to clean the whole place before moving stuff in. When are you guys planning to paint?
@JLaVO888@indigoheightsblog I feel you girls! We went outlet mall shopping on vacation and I literally told my husband I just couldn’t/did want to do it. Usually we both enjoy looking around esp when it’s an outlet mall but I just couldn’t do it with the smells, heat, exhaustion, etc.
PS We are on our way back from vacation and I miss the boards! I’m excited to get to know all the new girls and read their intros.

Ah ok. I was thinking of the types of questions that get posted on 1st Tri and on some of the BMBs. Like the standard "is this a positive?," "Is this implantation bleeding?," "I'm spotting, is that bad?," "I have no symptoms," "my HcG is low," etc. Questions that can easily be answered with a google search or that will only be answered by a doctor and/or time.
@catlady2015 Good call with proper ventilation - we were thinking later in August because even though it will be hot I will be hopefully through the majority of the nausea...fingers crossed!
@eggsandwich2019 - we really tried to keep me close to open windows and he refused to let me in any room without proper ventilation (so he's doing our bathroom/closet alone) so I can avoid breathing it all in. I had the respirator but i kept feeling like I was breathing stale air (even though I knew it was blocking the paint fumes). I took a lot of breaks too and I was the one who went out for supplies all the time to get fresh air. It really did help. Now I feel like we know we have a lot to clean so he'll be handling the majority of the painting and I'll be cleaning other areas/cleaning up behind him instead of being face to face with the fumes the whole time. I have asthma as well so paint for me now is a double whammy. We've been lucky enough it hasn't been too hot and we could just open all the windows and get great ventilation. Hope the weather won't be too hot/humid while you guys do it!
