Ok 3rd pregnancy but first time this has happened..is anyone else like WAY hairier? I'm an ape right now and this did not happen with my previous pregnancies. Also, pregnancy acne? Why?
@Erinm278 I got super hairy with my son, but haven't so far with this pregnancy. I had legitimate sideburns. This is my first time with pregnancy acne though - and it's so weird. Like under my earlobes?
@cass06_07 so my understanding is that stretch marks are genetic, but that didn’t stop me from fighting them. I rexfoliated every night in the shower with a dove scrub and then used Burt’s bees belly butter or bio oil, depending on how stretched my skin felt. I have no stretch marks from my first! But I have no clue if any of that scrubbing/moisturizing helped
@cass06_07 - It's a combo of genetics and weight gain. I weighted less with DS, but got more stretch marks (I only got three tiny ones with DD). I use Burt's Bees Mama Butter (I think that's what it's called) and belly oil (also Burt's Bees). It helped with the itching for sure. Not sure if it actually prevented stretch marks.
He basically says that stretch marks are just caused by genetics and weight gain, and that there's not much we know of that helps at this point. He complains repeatedly that most stretch mark creams are just moisturizers that have no effect on your chances of getting stretch marks. He does comment that there's a teeny tiny bit of evidence that creams containing centella or hyaluronic acid might help, but he does not sound very optimistic about that route. He also says there's some evidence that exercise and abdominal massage can help. But... mostly it's just whether you get lucky or not
I didn't get my stretch marks until the week before she was born. I had the oil and cream and was like, yes, and then...Nooo. Apparently my sister didn't get hers til the end either. Rude trick.
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
Stretch marks aren't that bad. They do fade quite a bit. I got more with baby #2 than #1 and #3, but I have to be looking to see them. Creams and lotions are nice though, because it is a great way to add some nice self care to your routine and love on that bump a little.

Same thing with me. And my belly was so big I didn’t even notice I had them until after birth. It is a rude trick!
I gained a lot of weight, like 50#, but didn't get stretch marks till the last couple of weeks. They were no where near as severe as puberty boob stretch marks. I'd still recommend getting a good oil or cream for all the stretched skin(belly, feet, boobs). The fuzziness is already starting to take over! Luckily no acne yet with this baby.
I gained a ton of weight, also got a ton of stretch marks. TBH I’ve been getting stretch marks since I was a teenager so I stopped obsessing about them years ago. I’ve had a lot of cosmetic issues since I was a child (spider veins, stretch marks, redness, gray hairs haha) so that stuff doesn’t stress me out. What’s more annoying is people telling me I need to “do something” about x, y, or z. I do like the idea of hydrating your skin to show your bump some love, but otherwise (at least for me) there is no reason to stress about it.
If you get them, you get them. If you don’t, you don’t.
I’ve had stretch marks forever at this point. They’re just a part of pregnancy for most people. This is my third, so I’ve just come to the conclusion that my body just isn’t going to ever be the same. I use heavy duty lotion solely to help with the itching.
Question: Is coccyx pain during first tri normal? I’m 10 weeks tomorrow and my tailbone hurts when I walk. I know this is common later on when the body starts prepping for birth, but at 10 weeks?? It’s not like I’m giving birth anytime soon!

Is anyone else losing lot of hair? I'm only 9w5d but noticed a lot of hair fall since 5 weeks pregnant. I was expecting the opposite after hearing people tell hair grows faster and gets better in pregnancy

Is it actually your tailbone or could it be referred pain? My SI joint pain can feel like it’s coming from my tailbone and it’s totally normal.
@kayjay44 it’s definitely my tailbone. Dr Google says it’s common to have tailbone pain during pregnancy since pretty much everything’s loosening up down there, and the growing uterus can press up against the tailbone (which makes sense since I have a tilted uterus), I just didn’t expect to have any sort of lower back issues so early on, I always assumed back pain was more of a third tri thing. I hope this isn’t going to last all the way through February!

@grebretso iv been feeling off and on back pain too mostly on the left side starting at 9w. Iv been googling too as I dont expect it so early on, and makes sense in 3rd trimester..
How long have your babies stayed in their infant car seats? I was looking at growth curves today and it seems as though the average would be much later than I expected.
Thanks @kayjay44 and @madreofdragons, it helps to know I'm not alone! If it is because of our dang tilted uteruses, it makes sense that it lets up during second tri when it moves up and out from the pelvis. Fingers crossed we get some relief for a while...

@becks_726 - my oldest HATED her infant car seat. She had terrible reflux and the car seat exacerbated the issue due to the recline of it. Moved her to a convertible seat at 4 months.
My son was totally chill in his seat until he was just about 8 months. He was (is!) a really big guy so we moved him because he outgrew the seat.
DD turned 2 in May and we still use her infant seat for my mom and SIL who watch her 3 days a week. We’re lucky the weight goes up to 32 lbs and she’s very small for her age, so it’s worked out well for us. We did buy her a convertible seat a few months after she turned 1, but I honestly don’t think she prefers one over the other except for the snack/drink cups in the convertible haha.
@hk0219 Yes, definitely hair loss over here! It's gross. My nails are also more fragile. Those were actually two things that made me wonder if I was pregnant because it was so out of the blue.
