It’s been 8 days since we moved across the country with our dogs and 2 suitcases. We love our rental house but the owners left it in pretty rough condition so we’ve had to spend a lot more time doing a full deep clean than we expected.

Just found out we need to do this just in case, even though the plan is birthing center. 11) Get TDAP shot asap 12) Wash cloth diapers (waiting for shower) 13) Install ceiling fans in bedrooms that LO may sleep in.
@SkilledSailor it’s going well— thank you for asking! Dogs are adjusting and we’re all getting used to life in the suburbs. Driving after a 3 year hiatus isn’t as hard on my nerves as I thought it would be. It will take some time to feel like home, but we are loving the weather and having a yard. I think we made the right call. Here’s an AW of our outdoor space since it makes me happy.
Oh goodness, I should probably make a list. Right now the only list I have is my "fun" list of things to sew/make. So for our real list:
- Finish DD1's new room: order mattress, repaint or contact paper shelves on bookcase, buy new blinds or blackout shade, switch her stuff and baby stuff between new room and nursery - Sell and/or donate stuff that no longer has a place to be stored - Wash baby clothes newborn-3 month, washcloths, towels, PNP sheets, washable covers for RNP, swing, etc. - Clean infant car seat cover, install base (by 38 weeks) - Send thank you cards (after sprinkle in August) - Make freezer meals & keep list in phone - Set up PNP in our room - Pack hospital bag(s), put list of last-minute items on top - Plan and have DD1's birthday party - Buy whatever necessities aren't gifted to us - Buy cute swaddling blanket for hospital/going home - Buy postpartum supplies - Figure out maternity leave and return to work schedule - Find DD1 a dentist and schedule appointment (?) - Hospital tour And the fun stuff, but probably too ambitious of a list: - Dye and sew meh dai - Sew ring sling - Hem Mahogany shorty - Sew SSC
ETA I knew I was forgetting stuff...
- Pre-register at hospital - Order breast pump - Pack DD1's overnight bag (whether she'll be at home with MH or staying at grandparents' is TBD) - Work prep, training someone to fill in, items that can be completed ahead of time, etc. - Figure out pediatrician situation - same as current? - Turn toddler bed back into crib - Read birthing book(s) - Discuss potential bleeding issues with OB
2/13 Blighted ovum, D&C -- 6/13 MC -- 8/14 DD born -- 3/17 MC -- 9/18 DD2 born Expecting again -- EDD 7/27/20
1. Have furniture delivered and assembled (Dresser came assemble, so just the crib)
2. Clean out guest bedroom before furniture arrives.
3. Paint room before furniture arrives. Guess I should decide on the paint and design of the stripes I want to do. (One wall is painted. Hopefully it will be done by the end of this week.)
4. Get back all the new born as 0-3 clothing from my sister. Her baby is under 3 months right now. Wash it and organize. (My sister has washed it and organized it, just needs to come back to me, which need to wait until the room is painted and dresser put in place)
5. Buy new baby monitor, new owlet, diaper stash, diaper genie, sheets, new bottles and plastic bath tub, mattress.... basically a huge buy buy baby run with tons of coupons.
6. Register at hospital
7. Think we have to just inform pediatric practice to expect baby girls delivery.
8. Install DD’s infant car seat for new baby. (Not done but its all clean and ready to go)
9. Prep all my cases for maternity leave with detailed notes on What covering attorney should do.
10. Sign up our dog for doggy daycare so he doesn’t drive me crazy when baby is born. The dog passed his interview and is now attending once a week or every other week. Which is awesome for his energy level.
11. Pack DD overnight bag and hospital bag.
Add ons: Drag out the rock n play, and clean it. Same for bouncer, and get my mamaroo back from family members. Also need to order breast pump.
Looks like we are all making progress at our own speeds! Congrats ladies!

Hey all, just a PSA for moms who plan on breastfeeding/pumping: you might want to consider ordering some vitamin D drops for your baby ahead of time (or buying in store if available). Due to where I live, pretty much all babies need extra vitamin D (so do I!). I used Baby D Drops brand last time and they were easy and didn’t bother DS’s tummy, just a drop on your finger/nipple/pacifier does it!
I have been avoiding opening this thread, bc the thought of it makes me a little panicky, lol but I'm glad I did! @dexnie your new digs look amazing! Congratulations!
Just focusing on the positive, I ordered the rest of our furniture (our bed, baby's dresser, organic changing pad), so that will all need to be set up once it arrives, along with my chair and mini crib which are still at SILs. The main wicker CD hamper arrived! One changing pad cover (the babyletto ones are not cheap, so I'm waiting to order the second), and 1 of my 2 sets of decals came! (the other has shipped.) So SIL may come help us get that stuff dealt with either this Sunday, or later in August if need be...
Tomorrow, I need to send out my shower thank you's and DH needs to walk in and get his TDAP shot. I have already been assembling hospital and PP supplies, but I want to pick 3 or 4 swaddles to bring, too, and make sure those get washed and packed. Once the dresser comes, I will get drawer paper and wash nb/3m clothes, and start CD prep. DH said he would make frames for our petite collage prints, so I may just have to get him to make a couple custom cubby units for AIO storage, too, since nothing I'm finding online seems quite right. Other than that, just chipping away! I feel like freezer meals may not happen, and honestly, not sure I care right now. Just want to get the rooms more or less set up first. And the pack 'n play for downstairs.
He's got a tonne of work he wants to do on the truck in the coming weeks too, so I'll leave that to him, as well as getting it cleaned. So once that all happens, I will delegate getting the carseat checked to him as well. ;)
I don't have one yet so this is as good a place as any to start one.

Set up DS's new room (area rug, decorations, crib, dresser, toy/book shelf)

Wash and hang/store in dresser DS's old clothes for DS2 to use
Get prescription for breast pump from OB and order through insurance company
Pick a name - DONE!!!! Finally!!!
Buy some newborn size diapers (we already have some size 1's left over from DS but I assume this little one will at least start in NB like his brother did)
Closer to delivery:

Install infant seat bases in my car and MH's truck
Pack hospital bag
Pack bag for DS (I imagine he'll be staying overnight at a grandparents house at least one night when we're in the hospital)
So happy we finally have a name!!
DS's room is getting there too - we're doing one main color with a couple stripes along the top of the wall. The stripes are done and MH will be starting the rest of the wall paint tonight. The guy we hire to sand the wood floors is coming tomorrow morning so MH will be starting stain tomorrow night and poly over the weekend. Once that's done and I get a rug picked out and ordered we can set up furniture and the room will be ready except for any decorations!

@dexnie that space is beautiful! I moved cross country almost two years ago, it is such a tough task but making a serene, happy place for yourself like that yard is awesome!
@BusinessWife same, I’ve been sticking my head in the sand with this post!
1. Install car seat bases in both cars (I got both cars cleaned thoroughly; that was step one!)
2. Pack hospital bag (I have a bag and most of what I need, but every time I look at the list from the hospital I freak out bc item #1 is advanced directive. Which is logical but makes me get over emotional and also we haven’t made them.)
3. Find a pediatrician
4. Fill our paperwork for state disability
5. Finish nursery. We’ve FINALLY gotten rid of the futon that had been the bane of my existence. We have the crib and changing table, and a dresser, but it’s not decorated or pretty looking yet. I know baby won’t mind but I do!
6. Watch some videos to figure out how to: wear Lillebaby carrier, clean and use Breast pump, take care of a baby (lol), etc
7. Decide on a name!
8. Buy a cute coming home outfit (I know this isn’t totally necessary, he’ll probably be cute in whatever he wears haha)
9. Write and send Thank You notes for baby gifts
10. Tie up loose ends at work and prepare to WFH/start leave soon depending on what doctor says today..
1) Buy chair for nursery 2) Pack hospital bag for H and I 3)Install car seat 4)Figure out coming home outfit for both baby and myself 5) PP supplies (I've only bought pads so far...) 6) Wash bottles and breast pump 7)Make freezer meals 8) Clean and declutter my house.. 9) Go over everything with my H..again. Just trying to prepare him, it helps me not feel so overwhelmed and anxious knowing he is on the same page as me when discussing labor/delivery topics.
I know I am forgetting something, should have started writing stuff down..
Ok, y’all! I’m 3 weeks out and I decided I should start getting ready, ha! I finally did a little today and yesterday (I never “nested” with my girls, but I felt like I NEEDED to get my basic stuff set up, so I did that today and I feel a lot better!)
1) Pack hospital bag 2) Order glider 3) Order breast pump and submit to insurance (I sterilized all my old pump stuff tonight) 4) Order big sister gifts 5) Clean entire house (not gonna happen!) 6) Install car seat 7) Be sure DD1 is all ready for her first day of school
We've had a very productive week and got almost everything checked off my list. I'd really like to find the time to make some freezer meals, but i'm not sure that's going to happen. Baby is due in 20 days and counting (but most likely sooner)
Basement Reno: 1) Paint hallway 2) Find and buy the rest of the furniture 3) Finish decorating 4) Get cable company to hook up TV 5) Hang storage cabinets 6) get shelves for closets 7) put stuff in closets instead of stacked in hallway 8) get DH to take all trash to the dump (technically this was my dad not MH, but it's done)
Nursery Set up: 1) Get rid of guest bed (scheduled for Friday) 2) Clear out closet 3) Setup baby furniture (scheduled for next Thursday) 4) Clean, organize, and put away baby clothes 4a) buy more baby clothes if there aren't enough summer 0-3 month clothes 5) Buy everything from Buy Buy Baby registry 6) Buy everything from Target registry 7) Buy everything from Amazon registry (bought almost everything, waiting until after birth to use the second completion coupon) 8) Buy and hang wall decals (ordered decals, waiting for delivery) 9) Put away all the stuff I just bought
Other Baby stuff: 1) Make freezer meals 2) Find place for pack and play in Master bedroom and set it up 3) Register at hospital 4) Pack Hospital bag 5) Install car seat 6) Find time to practice hypnobirthing stuff 7) get all of DS's stuff out of storage and set up 8) Figure out a name for baby 9) Figure out who will fill in for me at work and train them (probably will be spread out over 3-4 people) 10) Figure out if pump still works since i'm not eligible for a new one until October 11) Setup planning session with newborn photographer 12) Schedule carpet cleaners to come out 13) Figure out how we're going to pay for daycare for #2 14) Don't panic (currently this one is not working out so well)
@nackie That’s so impressive! Did you do all of that in one week?! I just did freezer meals with less than 20 days to go, but I’m exhausted. I wouldn’t recommend killing yourself over it.
@Wishilivedinflorida haha,no we didn’t do all of it this week, but we got like 5 things off the list. I actually came back on here to look at it again because I couldn’t remember if there was anything else. So far we have one freezer meal cooked. I’m hoping we can get two or three more, but I’m not expecting much. I’m just happy we got so much done before the baby comes
The only thing I have left on my list is to purchase post partum supplies. Me and H finally got the crib put together tonight. I have the Owlet charging and set that up. I washed and sanitized the bottles and nipples today and sanitized the couple of pacifiers that are opened.
You guys are so impressive! I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow with #4 (due date 9/3) and I just finally pulled out the baby clothes to wash and organize them a few days ago. Now that I did that, I will have an easier time packing the hospital bag. I'll probably do that soon. All I really need is a few back up childcare plans for the big kids, and then a pack n play to come home to. I think I'll go the extra mile and wash the washable parts of the infant car seat. I did have a wake up call when I added size 1 diapers to our subscribe and save and realized since the diapers have a Sept 15th ish delivery date, they won't be here in time for the baby! Eek, had to order the regular way!
DD1 6.2011 DD2 4.2013 - vbac DS1 9.2016 - vbac, team green Baby #4 due 9.2018
Now that I’ve almost finished everything on my original list, I’ve added at least 5 things to my mental to do list. DH is super annoyed with me. He thought he was done
MH to renovate DS's new room (scrape popcorn ceiling, paint ceiling, install and paint baseboard and crown moulding, replace window, paint walls, replace carpet with hardwood floors, finish new hardwood floors, paint touchup, rehang closet doors, replace standard light switch with dimmer switch)
Order decorations for DS's new room (wall decorations, 3D dragons, area rug)
Set up DS's new room (area rug, decorations, crib, dresser, toy/book shelf)
Replace DS's name on wall in current nursery with DS2's name once decided and after DS1 has moved to his new room
Wash and hang/store in dresser DS's old clothes for DS2 to use
Get prescription for breast pump from OB and order through insurance company
Pick a name
Buy some newborn size diapers (we already have some size 1's left over from DS but I assume this little one will at least start in NB like his brother did)
Closer to delivery:
Buy postpartum supplies
Submit leave paperwork
Install infant seat bases in my car and MH's truck
Pack hospital bag (mostly done)
Pack bag for DS (I imagine he'll be staying overnight at a grandparents house at least one night when we're in the hospital)
Making progress. MH says we should be able to set up all the furniture in DS1's new room this weekend which will let me get started on washing and putting away all the small baby clothes in now DS2's room.
I figured hospital bag, DS1's overnight bag, and car seats would be post-36 weeks tasks and I'll be 36 weeks Thursday so I'll get to those soon.

What about baby's clothes - I already got a newborn gift pack from my cousin. I already adore this brand.
