To Do List

I tried searching to see if this group has made a to do list yet and couldn't find one. So I thought I would start one, if I missed it, please disregard this discussion.

Here is my To Do List:

Go shopping/order items from registry
Pack hospital bag
Install car seat
Set up and clean bassinet/rock n play/ baby mat
Call for carpet cleaners
Call for deep house cleaning (after carpet cleaners)
Have Dr sign STD insurance paperwork
Write DD birthday thank you notes
Clean and make room for bottles in cabinets
Sort and clean DD clothes that can be used for this baby boy

I know there's more things that I need to do, but that's all I can think of right now.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has to do and I might have to add those to my list.

(AH stuck in the box-side note, the bump app/website hates me today)

@kiwi2628 you amaze me, I love the detail and organization
  • I’m thinking I have around 12 weeks left (based on previous kids). I have nothing done. I don’t know if I’m just phoning it in but I’m thinking I need to:
-do newborn to 3 month laundry
    -get new car
-get E a new car seat, install car seats into new car
-clean up boys’ room to make room for Squish’s clothes
-get out bottles and pump parts, sanitize
    -order new pump
    -get newborn diapers

Eventually I’ll have to pack a bag for myself. I’m not too worried about packing the kids’ stuff since we’re 20 minutes from my parents and they can easily come and get what they need when the time comes.

He’ll be in our room until he’s around 1 so we’ll tackle the furniture switch around at this time next summer. E’s going to get the new furniture and he’ll get hers.
  • @kiwi2628 I'd go ahead and do the STD paperwork now. My HR person said the sooner the better, because you never know what could go wrong and it might not be approved in time.
  • @jynjer91 you only really need a car seat, diapers, wipes, food, some clothes and a safe place for baby to sleep. It looks like you have everything you need!
  • tlmilltlmill member
@jynjer91 with DD I waited until the last minute to do anything. Like I didn’t buy much of anything at all until the day after my shower (which was on 3/1) because I didn’t want to end up with any duplicates. I went to the hospital to start my induction on 3/4 and she was born 3/5. With DS we had all of DD’s old stuff so all I needed was clothes (which a friend whose son is a few years older gave me) and diapers (which we bought over the course of my pregnancy). All you really need for the first little bit is what you already have anyway.

Good point...I should get that started. We've done DH's FMLA paperwork already.
  • @sliztee my STD doesn't allow us to submit until the doctor who does the birth signs it

I guess I mean that I filled out all of my paperwork for STD and my doctor has it in my file ready to go now. My Paid Family Leave paperwork was sent through an insurance company already and has been approved. @kiwi2628
  • We have most stuff bought - I’m down to a glider and a monitor - and most stuff set up and ready to rock.

I do need to wash everything but am holding off until 36/37 weeks, and will likely install the car seat, set up the swing, and pull out all the gear around then too.

Once I’m on mat leave I plan to do most of the getting ready - my baby’s tend to hang in there way past their due dates so I’m not too worried about having stuff done early.

  • Almost forgot:

    - Order Breast Pump
  • Yikes, this is a good reminder that I need to start making “the list”. Off the top of my head...
    1. Move guest room downstairs
    2. Move DS to old guest room (and all that entails - painting the room, for one)
    3. Re-organize baby room - dig out newborn clothes, restock essentials, etc
    4. Buy stuff - double stroller, noise machine, second monitor camera, random odds and ends
    5. Freezer meals - at least 4
    6. Hospital bag sometime in September
    7. Install car seat

So I'm currently prepping to test the programming in my company system that everything is set up properly for NY paid family leave. Which is a great option for people, but your posts keep reminding me about the pain of programming it. Lol
  • Love your list @jennybean80!  That’s pretty much mine too.

  • Wow you guys are so organized! I should probably make a list...mine looks like @cdepperschmidt

I have no idea what I need to do. We have the car seat ready (but not installed yet), and some clothes. DH and FIL are hopefully finishing his room this weekend so then we can start furniture setup. Other than that...I have no clue! I’m going to try to put something together and use you all as my inspiration...we’ll see how it goes. I’m usually so organized but this is all so new...

  • @spartan4life

My to-do list is actually waaay longer than what I put above.  I always have a running to-do list (not just baby related stuff), and as I think of things to add to it, I do.

Mostly though, I agree with @cdepperschmidt’s comment that as long as food, clothing and shelter are taken care of the rest will sort out.  I just want as little to sort out after Blast arrives as possible. :#
  • My Type A personality is LOVING this thread.

Also @laurasauruss totally in the same boat with you. DH and I bought a case of wine while on our anniversary trip (which is where/when we conceived) so now I have a full rack of wine waiting to be opened once this baby pops out! All of my mom friends said after 2 sips post-baby they were toasty so I'm guessing this stash will last a while haha

  • Hyperventilating a little reading these lists - OMG this is really happening!  I keep reminding myself I have more time since this kid is due at the end of Oct.  Based on previous births he'll come mid-month - so I really only have 12ish weeks to prepare myself, family, work for this change.  One month is basically planned away since I have budget season at work.

My list should be much longer but I have:
-Move into new Apt this week
    -Furnish said apartment
    -Order breast pump
    -Update birth plan
    -PRAY everything goes well!
