@jynjer91 I think I was a particularly extreme case but I lost my hair pretty bad. Had 2 very obvious bald spots on either side of my temples. It came back but slowly...
I breastfed up until I got pregnant again so I've been on prenatal for the past 2+ years. If you plan on BFing go ahead and stock up!
I never noticed PP hair loss until it started growing back in. I looked like a Chia Pet at the front of my hair line for a while! DD is 1.5 and it's just now long enough that it doesn't stick straight up any more.
@sliztee You should be able to look it up in the HR policy paperwork (if you kept it, or get a new copy). My company’s policy said they could have tried to get it back and while I don’t think it would have started by anybody in our office who actually knew me, there were a lot of people higher up that I didn’t know and didn’t want to risk it, especially since the years prior to me leaving were bad financial years for the company (they’re doing better now, but recessions hit our sector later than everybody else).
The company policy also said they could make me pay back money for conferences they sent me to within a certain amount of time before I quit (not maternity related). They sent me to 2/year so for the year before I quit I had excuses to not go in case they were going to make me pay that back. There were 2 conferences they could have made me partially pay for when I quit and they never did.
Re: hair loss - from what I understand it is pretty common pp. My friends told me about clumps of hair falling out in the shower and not to worry about it because it was normal. I kept waiting for it, but it never happened to me.
A new mom that I know warned me about the PP hair loss. I think her hair still looks fine, but she says she pulls out a clump every time she washes it. I didn't ask her about the belly fuzz, since we aren't close.
My OB is a health and vitamin/supplement nut, so he said that specific postnatal vitamins are best while BFing, but I can totally finish up the prenatal bottle before switching. We didn't get into the specifics of what the differences are, though.
@nasalot you’re certainly not alone. Between PP hair loss and grabby baby pulling at the front I always get two sad wispy patches in the front. @sliztee I kept taking the prenatals even once I finished breastfeeding because of how strong they make my nails. I mean, health is good, but also... vanity. Bonus round.
Ah, tell me about it @sammierose464. Zulily just got a chunk of my money cuz I bought 6 dresses from them! I love them and I'm going to use at least one PP so it's not wasted money, but yea
I lost (what seemed to me) a ton of hair around 3-4 months PP, and so did DS. It was noticeable in one spot right on my hairline at my forehead, so whenever I put my hair up I had these tiny stupid little hairs standing up for months and months.
Holy crap I have over 200 posts to catch up on so forgive me if I comment on comments from 3 pages ago lol Kevin Hart and 2 of his three openers The plastic cup boys. I had a blast but I was so tired driving us home DH couldn't stay awake so I drove and we got home at 2:10am... woke up at 8 and went to our birth class. I really enjoyed the class as well, super informational and I'm really excited about the policies in place for when baby is born.
My PP hair loss also started at 4 months. I didn’t look bald, I just lost my full, shinny, pregnancy hair. @nasalot188 for me it did included the extra body hair I had gained.
I really should do something other than sit on my couch watching Netflix again. DH has family in town so he went to his parents to hang out and spend the night there. We are gonna be there all day tomorrow too, so I didn't want to go tonight.
We got a ton of hand me downs from my cousin today, so I might go though all of those.
@sammierose464 my ILs took DD and DS for the day and I’ve been laying on the couch watching ER on Hulu all day. I have plenty of laundry and cleaning to do but I chose to do this instead. You’re not alone!
Everybody sheds a certain amount of hair each day. Pregnancy hormones stop the shedding process and that's why your hair looks thicker and fuller. About 4 or 5 months post partum those pregnancy hormones are finally gone from your system and you lose all that hair you retained in large chunks. It sucks but it grows back.
Has anyone shopped on Wish? They have such cute baby stuff and it's dirt cheap! I just wasn't sure if it was quality.
@jweber4747 it tends to be a crapshoot. Some is fine, most is garbage. And a lot of it comes from China, so I would worry about chemicals and fabrics used for baby stuff.
@jweber4747 DH buys off it all the time. It's hit or miss. Baby clothes might be okay, but they might not last long. Which means you wouldn't be sad to get rid of it after a poop-explosion or massive throw up.
I decided to be ambitious. I'm sweeping and mopping the hardwood in my living room, including moving the couches. With all of the dog and cat hair my allergies are horrible. I'm hoping it'll help.
@jweber4747 especially in the beginning you will go through baby stuff so quick you don’t even have to worry about quality. If something is cute and cheap I would buy it. You’ll probably only get a few wears as it is.
Thanks, I thought it might be low quality. That's a good point about chemicals and such. I know babies go through clothes quick though, and I'll bet it'll be too hot in the first 2 months for my baby to even wear clothes! October and November are very hot months in San Diego.
@jweber4747 I have purchased a couple things off wish now, just make sure you check out the reviews. Sometimes the photos can be a little deceiving and in the comments there is always someone who lets you know exactly what you might be purchasing. I had purchased something a few months ago and it never showed up, they ask multiple times if you have got the item yet and then they give you the option for your money back and the refund is very fast or you can opt for them to ship it again.
I think it's been about four hours since I've been home and started to catch up and I'm finally all caught up on threads! Were an active bunch this weekend!!
Crazy day, you guys. I noticed a little boy wandering around the outskirts of the big outdoor market area downtown today, asked if he was lost and if he knew where his mommy or daddy was, and he exclaimed, "No, because I RAN AWAYYYY!"
Allllll the mommy instinct took over and I scooped him up (he was heading toward a group of homeless guys when I intervened) and was sure it would only be a few seconds before we ran into someone screaming for him frantically. But after 5 minutes and no frantic parents, and he didn't seem to have any idea of where he came from, I asked him some more questions, which got the attention of a group of people next to us, who were concerned (I think) that maybe I was trying to take him. So they jumped in to help, a couple split off in the other direction as we looked for a police officer or at least a security person or something. I eventually called the police since I was having trouble finding someone to help, but while I was on the phone, someone came back with a park ranger and some staff from one of the events that was going on. While we were all talking and I was giving the police info over the phone, someone called the event staff from the other side of the plaza -- the dad was over there, reporting the kid missing. So we walked back over and I gave him back to his dad, who seemed more irritated than relieved he was okay--I definitely got the idea that this wasn't the first time he'd done this.
Hang on to your kiddos, mamas! Of course the whole thing made me shaky and emotional, and I spent the rest of the afternoon holding back tears until I finally got home and let them all go.
@melbo444 so glad for good people like you and the others who helped to ensure this boys safe return to his parents. Terrifying to think of your child being lost.
@melbo444 ugh that sounds like a long day. Good for you for helping out! Half way through reading the now closed Baby Girl Clothed thread in Sept BMB. it’s exhausting.
update: WHOA page two. OP has no filter, limits, or anything. My jaw actually dropped.
@chopchop25 I was wondering how a thread on baby girl clothes could get out of hand. Now I know. My favorite part was the humble brag about her 6 pack on a HDBD post.
@melbo444 I’m so glad you were able to help him reunite with his parents! I think losing my child in a large crowd like that is one of my biggest fears. I’m thankful there are people out there like you willing to help!
I must have spent too much time on here with you guys yesterday, catching up from the week. I had a dream that I made a huge spaghetti dinner and invited all of you over for dinner. We were walking around calling each other by our screen names because none of us knew (or maybe cared?) what our actual names were haha.
Re: Randoms 7/5
And I certainly hope belly fuzz is included

TTC since 2016
Due: October 12, 2018
Location: Ontario, Canada
Which reminds me. I haven't done a product Spotlight lately. Baby clothes anyone?
I particularly enjoy the parts that remind me of a certain political uprising in America that I think you all know I'm not fond of.
