Re: July 2018 IVF

  • Day 1 of estradiol patches :). Happy to just finally be doing something.
Hi @Ragan520 sorry to hear about your first cycle. Fx that the second one is a success!
@wishing-and-hoping we will be doing a fresh transfer if everything goes according to plan.  Whether it’s day 3 or 5 will just depend :). Are you doing a fresh transfer? I hope the change in oil helps!
  • @bakerstreetboys yes we really hope to do a fresh transfer as well. woohoo for day 1 of patches!  wear that patch with pride.

  • Sorry about the spread sheet @wishing-and-hoping and everyone else who tried to access it!  I am semi clueless when it comes to google docs.  I have provided a new link in my signature and you shouldn't need to request access.  You should be able to get to it to make your updates.  Let me know though if you have any issues!

Also, we finally got the green light to start stims on Friday.  First follicle check will be on Monday!

And last, sorry to hear about your last cycle, but welcome @Ragan520 .  Fingers crossed that July is your month!
  • Thank you @katie35 !! I already feel so welcomed! So excited for you to start stims tomorrow! I just ordered all my meds yesterday so the wait is almost over for me to get back in the game.
  • well, dang, first appointment and i already feel like i might get cancelled!  had a few follicles that were on the bigger side, so if my estrogen is too high they will cancel.  fx for whatever needs to happen.  will know more this afternoon.

  • nope, no priming, i was just on about a week of progesterone only birth control, i guess my ovaries just wanted to jump start themselves this time around! we shall see.  did my little IVF meditation after the appointment, just trying to take it as it comes!

Hi @mackorori I am not seeing a way to get to my signature from the app unfortunately  :/. Someone else might have better luck?
  • @wishing-and-hoping so pleased your estrogen was low enough to start! Hope you don’t have a lead follicle wreaking havoc with the cycle though. When’s your first US and BW to check on progress?

@mackorori if you can’t get to a computer you can access the website via chrome or safari for example on Your phone or tablet. Alternatively here’s the link below for this time. Once you’ve opened it once if you go into google docs it should show it ready for you to open from then onwards.

  • @emmasemm I go in Monday for the next US/BW.  Do you think 4 days is too long to go without checking on things?  I also hope I don't have a lead follicle wreaking havoc... there were a few bigger ones so none have officially declared themselves as the lead...

  • @wishing-and-hoping no I think 4 days at the beginning is absolutely fine. They should see you every other or sometimes every day after that depending on what speed the follicles are growing at and how close to 20mm the biggest one is.
My biggest is 14mm and I also go back Monday, but I’m more days into stimming and we know my response is a bit more steady this time.
How big was your biggest one?

  • Hi @MamaPapaMazz and @im0729 this is the thread I was referring to
  • lm0729lm0729 member
    Hello everyone!

I am starting my IVF cycle later this week, due to get my period July 5th. A little about my situation, I got pregnant back in March through my first IUI, which ended up being ectopic. This resulted in the rupture of my Fallopian Tube which needed to be removed. Since I am only working with one tube, we decided our next move was IVF. I waited two cycles and here I am.

I am so overwhelmed with all this medication honestly, as my protocol includes:

Micro Dose Lupron- 2 times a day (20 units per time)
    Menopur - Once a day 150 IU's
    Gonal F- 300 IU a day

My confusion is in the Menopur, since each vial is 75 IU, does that mean I have to inject it twice, or fill the needle with both vials of the medication? I will be asking this when I go for my baseline appt Thursday, but is anyone familiar with it? My Type A is killing me because I need to know exactly what to do before I even start.
  • @wishing-and-hoping how are you doing?

@lm0729 welcome! Most of the time they will be ok for you to mix with the small syringes and then draw up into one big one and do just one injection. I’ve been doing 450 of Menopur and last cycle they wanted me to do them individually, this time we combined into two. Doing more than three vials in one syringe is a bit much for subcutaneous.
And don’t worry, you will soon be a pro!

AFM well I have two at 16mm, one at 14mm and one at 9mm so I’m traveling to my clinic tomorrow so they can’t scan me themselves. My estrogen is close to 600 so hoping we have three good eggs growing in there. Only time will tell!!!

  • @lm0729 - I did 150 Menopur my last cycle and I combined the two into one dose, will do the same this time. I’m sure the devices are a bit different, but I had a bigger needle for the mixing then use a smaller needle for the injection.

I am also a bit type A and flipped out about doing my first injection the right way. Like @emmasemm said, once you get passed that one it will be fine.

@emmasemm - glad to hear you are having a good start to your cycle, positive thoughts!!
  • I am sorry to hear yo had to go through that @lm0729 .  Welcome and hopefully this is your month!

@emmasemm sounds like you have some good follicles growing!  How did your scan go today?

@wishing-and-hoping how did your first follicle check go?  I think I am just one day behind you in stims.  At my appointment yesterday they saw 3 on the right and 4 on the left that are 8-9mm and then some smaller ones too.  I am hoping your appointment went well!
  • @katie35 that sounds like a solid first scan! When’s your next one?

@wishing-and-hoping hope things are going ok for you!

AFM well I’m still stimming! Some of you will start and finish before I finish I think! We had US and BW yesterday and again today. Growth is steady but still growing. I go back Friday for another scan and really really hope we can trigger Friday night for Sunday ER.

I went for my baseline u/s and blood work and they found a small cyst on my right side they said if my estrogen was good we are just going to move forward. I just stopped birth control Monday and started spotting last night, and still has not turned into a full period, which is unusual for me. The nurse called me back this afternoon and said to start injections Saturday. I keep finding mixed information on this, some women move forward and some postpone. I am a little concerned I never had a cyst before.
  • @anared as they said, if you can go on with a cyst depends if it is functional or not - which is what they can tell from your blood work, specifically your E2 levels. If they’re high it indicates it is functional and probably want to skip. If it’s not high then it shouldn’t be a problem and you can continue- which it seems is what they have found for you. Don’t worry. It’s normal. Remember follicles are just cysts with eggs in at the end of the day!

@katie35 hope your appointment went well today

AFM triggering tonight for ER on Sunday! Finally as today is CD17 so Sunday will be CD19!

  • Hi @emmasemm - Appointment went pretty good  We have 10 follicles that are between 11-14mm.  Hoping to trigger by Monday if they keep growing as they are.  I have another appointment tomorrow morning so hoping to know more then.

Good luck with your trigger tonight!  You are so close to retrieval.  Keep us posted on how it goes.  Are you planning to transfer this round as well?
  • @katie35 thanks! Pleased you’re looking good!
No transfer for us this cycle as we are banking as I have DOR. We will do at least one more retrieval before we even think about transfer, but could be more depending how many embryos we have.

  • I’m an avid reader of these forums but have never posted myself. I thought I would finally join in this time! TW: A little about my journey. My husband and I went through infertility 9 years ago when TTC#1. We were blessed to conceive our son on our first iui. I have lean PCOS and have experienced 6 failed iui’s over the past year, 2 chemical pregnancies (April & May), and now in my first ivf cycle. I also had a hysteriscopy with ovarian diathermy in February to improve our chances. Hoping and praying July is our month!

We started injections july 1st, so currently on day 8 of stims. So far so good! Somewhere around 20 follicles with the largest ones at 12. I go in tomorrow morning for another  bloodwork and scan appt. with ER most likely sometime this week. Getting excited but so worried about something going wrong as well.

  • @anared I had a cyst also on my first U/S before stimming. This was a first for me also. My RE said in order to continue with the cycle he would want to drain it so it wouldn't interfere or I can wait until next cycle to start and see if it went away on its own. Being I already booked a 2wk stay in NY for the process I allowed him to drain it that day and started stimming that night 6/22.

AFM, I'm now in my TWW, all 3 embryos that developed were transferred on 7/6.
  • Short update - ER went well, we got 5 eggs from 5 follicles, 3 were mature, 2 fertilized normally and have started dividing. Now to wait until Wednesday to hear if they both make it to freeze on day 3 or not...

  • @emmasemm - glad to hear things went well, positive thoughts for you.

@emmasemm thanks! I started injections Saturday, went in today and the cyst grew a little from Thursday 20 to 20.7 so its a big but fluid filled... waiting to hear back today on next steps. Fingers crossed for you!!!

@lemondrop1976 thanks! I feel like that wasn't even an option for me, they basically said if its not hormonal we continue, if it is than BCP for another week. Today the nurse said they may drain it the day of my ER but its big. I only did two nights of injections so far but we can already see from the sonogram today that my ovary without the cyst has almost triple the follicles than the one with the cyst. Its disappointing and also concerning since I was told to take it easy to not cause any issues in case the ovary gets too heavy. Sending positive thoughts for your TWW!!!

Hi all, I have been trying to post for sometime but the forum did not let me post anything.

Let me start with my brief history.
    Turning 33 in September
    TTC- 1.5 years
2 early miscarriages( around 6 weeks) and 1 CP in 1 year with all tests coming out normal including genetic
Started seeing fertility specialist from January of this year and factor 8 (blood clotting agent) came positive for which baby aspirin can help
both tubes blocked due to miscarriages.
had two options surgery for opening tubes to conceive naturally and ivf
Picked ivf to eliminate any other factors.

    Protocol
Started BCP end of May and stayed on Lupron
    Started Simulation on June 30th
    Day zero scan - 6 follicles under 10 mm E- 15
    Day 4 scan - 19 follicles under 10 mm E- 190, P- 0.3
    Day 6 scan - 2 follicles 10mm rest under 10mm, E- 625, P- 0.57
    Day 8 scan - 14.7 mm highest follicle size another 10 over 10 mm, E- 1500, P - 1.19
    Day 8 scan - 18mm highest follicle and 21 over 10mm, E- 3000, P - 1.62

Nurse just messaged me saying will have to do freeze all and do a FET because of elevated progesterone levels.
Disappointing but hopeful for next month. Anyone has any idea what FET would look like

  • @emmasemm that is great!  I will keep my fingers crossed that you get good news on Wednesday.

@kbenner2 and @bkatp Welcome to the group  It looks like you both are just a day or two behind me in stims.  Good luck with you last few days of stims and keep us posted as you head into retrival!  And @bkatp we have been through a few FETs.  It is generally quite a bit less stressful than a full IVF cycle, but understandable that you are disappointed.  Just more hurry up and wait.  Let me know if there are any questions I can help answer!

AFM, we received the green light this afternoon to trigger tonight!  Will be heading in for retrieval on Wednesday morning.

  • I have left over IVF medications and would hate for them to go to waste since the value is $1000 and I know folks who are paying out of pocket and really need it.
    Pregnyl - 5000 UI ($~100)
    Gonal F pen - 450 UI (~$550)
    Menopur - 4 boxes of 75 UI (~$350)

Message me if you would like my IVF medications. If you can not pick up in SF, you would have to pay shipping costs.
  • @katie35 - that’s so exciting your retrieval is Wednesday!! Hoping it goes well!

AFM - I had my bloodwork and scan yesterday morning and I have around 18 follicles, 9 on each side, all between 10-15. I have one at 18 & 20 so started ganirelix to prevent premature ovulation. My e2 is around 1500 and I go back Wednesday for another appt. with possible retrieval Friday or Saturday. I asked the nurse if I’m at risk for OHSS and she said there’s definitely a possibility in which case we would have to do a freeze all... so disappointing. Does anyone have any experience with OHSS? I know some people still go ahead with transfers if it’s mild. I’m really hoping I don’t get it and can just continue with the fresh transfer, but trying to just go with the flow at the same time!

    Lurking.

@kbenner2 I had moderate OHSS but

    *TW*
I didn’t get it until I got my BFP
    *end TW*

my estrogen was 2600 at trigger and I had 15 eggs retrieved.  They let me trigger with pregnyl but apparently the hcg can cause the ovaries to stimulate again and can cause OHSS.

Thanks @katie35. I got a message to trigger today and retrieval Thursday. I am not so happy about 2 months wait after retrieval and additional cost of freezing, but nothing I can do here. Keep calm and hope for the best.

@katie35 Congratulations on your retrieval. Keep us posted.

@kbenner2 I am already in that boat hoping for your fresh transfer to happen as planned

*lurking* @bkatp My E2 was ~5000 at ER (22 eggs) and I asked not to be triggered with hcg due to risk of OHSS. If OHSS is a possibility, many REs will trigger with Lupron (I triggered with Suprefact which is in the same family). I would highly suggest asking your RE about this. OHSS is no joke and can be really, really serious. I'm sure the only reason I only had mild OHSS was because I triggered with Suprefact and likely would have had it had I triggered with Ovidrel as originally planned. GL!
