    Hi,

    I have a medication question:

I have been on micro dose lupron for 3 days now and tomorrow I start Menopur and Gonal F in addition to the MDL. This means 3 injections in the evening. Is it best to stagger them, like one at 5:45, 6:45, 7:45...or do them all at once? Thoughts?
  • @Im2709 I think it is just a matter of your tolerance level. I'm sure you will pick 3 different injection sites for them regardless of timing. Personally I like to get everything over with and I think it would be easier to keep track of if they were all at once and interfere less with your evening.
  • Loading the player...
  • @katie35 good luck tomorrow morning!

@lm0729 I imagine however you want to time the injections is fine, probably more important that you do it at a similar time each day. Similar to what @lemondrop1976 said, I would think staggering may be harder to track and I also would want to just do it all at once. I’m sure the docs can give you the best advice if you have concerns.

@tosh24 Oh I am seeing msg today. My E2 was 5400 yesterday and I triggered with hcg yesterday and waiting for retrieval tomorrow. Right after retrieval I am on medication to avoid ohss for 7 days.

@katie35 how did your retrieval go ?

I'm 25 with no known fertility problems. We started trying to conceive about 8 months ago, when nothing was coming of it we went to a fertility specialist and did all the tests. Our only option for a child from both of us is IVF with ICSI and even that is a slim chance... My husband suffers from unexplained azoospermia, (count: 0 on first test and 8 on the second) He is undergoing a TESE procedure to see if there is any sperm to extract a few days before my retrieval. If that doesn't prove fruitful, we have chosen a donor as backup and have that vial on hand with our doctor. We do plan on doing PGS testing just for my peace of mind.

I start stims this Saturday (the 14th) for my fist round of IVF and we are planning an tentative retrieval date around July 26th.

We plan on freezing any embryos we get and starting FET in my next cycle.

I'm wishing everyone the best of luck!
    My Age: 25
    Husband's Age: 27
    Diagnosis: Unexplained azoospermia, production issue.
IVF July 2018: pending and staying hopeful :)

my husband has this same thing. the procedure worked for us, I'm hopeful for you as well.
  • @kjk024 One of my best friend’s husband had the same issue. She was successful on her first ivf/ICSI cycle. I’m hopeful for you!

AFM: I had my appt. earlier today after 11 days of stimms and all was looking pretty good. I had 16 measurable follicles on each ovary today (32 total), with somewhere between 15-20 looking like they could be on the mature side. I’ve been so very worried about OHSS and having our embryo transfer getting cancelled next week and made a freeze all.... but they said my e2 levels are not TOO high (3,000) and we can move forward with our plans to transfer! I’m triggering tonight with a Lupron trigger as to avoid OHSS and our retrieval will be Friday morning. Getting kind of anxious as I’m stilled a bit worried about developing OHSS as well as the quality of eggs retrieved...but am trying to stay positive.

    Congrats on good news @kbenner2
Good luck with retrieval and transfer
  • Thanks all!  Retrieval went well yesterday    They retrieved 18 which is quite a few more than I was expecting.  Based on follicle size I will be happy if we had 10 which were mature.  They should be calling me some time today with an update.

@bkatp Good Luck with your retrieval today!

@kbenner2 I hope you trigger went well last night and best of luck with your retrieval tomorrow!

@lemondrop1976 How are you holding up for your 2WW so far?  It is amazing how time can crawl during that period.  Hopefully it is going quickly for you!

@anared How are stims going so far?
  • @katie35 wow! 18 that’s great!! Can’t wait to hear your results from today! Best of luck!!!

@katie35 thank you. My retrieval went well as well. They got 24 eggs and will know tommorow on how many fertilized .

How is your prepping going on for transfer ?
  • @katie35 I'm hanging in there, tomorrow is the half way point for me:) my past self would read into every feeling or symptom but I've learned my lesson to keep my hopes at bay due to disappointment.
  • anaredanared member
@katie35 Congrats on the 18 follicles! How was the procedure overall? I hope you are feeling well! Fingers crossed for your update today!

So far so good with the stims, thanks for asking. I am on day 6 and started cetrotide this morning. It is a bit frustrating getting detailed information from my fertility clinic. The last real update was Saturday when I had the nurse practitioner, and she gave me a rough number of follicles and the size of the cyst on my right side. But the last two appointments I had, I wasn't told anything except the cyst is around the same size. I got two different start dates for cetrotide from two different nurses, and all they said was if they didn't increase my dose of menopur and gonal f then I am where they want me to be. I am hoping to get more information at tomorrows appointment.

  • @katie35 @bkatp happy to hear your retrievals went well, hopefully good news keeps coming from those!

    @kbenner2 good luck tomorrow!

I’m finally back to CD1 after my priming protocol, so if all goes well with my ultrasound tomorrow I should start stims Saturday. Not looking forward to the shots but the possibilities make it worth it!
  • bkatpbkatp member
Thanks @mackorori. Are you starting stims this weekend ?

@kbenner2 how is it going with you.

I got my update today only 15 of the 24 retrieved were mature and 12 fertilized normally. Will have to wait and see how many make it to blastocyst stage.

  • @bkatp  12 fertilized! That’s wonderful news!! What day will you find out about blasts?

thanks so much for asking about me. Our retrieval is done... so relieved. I was so anxious about it, not sure why. They retrieved 24 eggs and thought most of them looked mature. We will find out tomorrow how many fertilize!

@kbenner2 congratulations!! When are they transferring for you?
    @katie35 when is your transfer?

Ill know about blasts on Wed. I heard usual rate is 50% after fertilization, so around 6 is what I am expecting.  This is the tensed part for me as I had 3 miscarriages in an year, I am thinking my egg quality might me the reason, I am 32 but u can never predict anything.

    Lurking (again).

@bkatp 50% is probably a good estimate but I’ll give you my #’s as a random example.

we retrieved 15 eggs, 11 of which fertilized. And 7 made it to blast.  Of the 7, we had (4) 5 day 4aa blasts (1 of which we transferred) and then 4 6 day blasts of which we had (2) 5aa and (2) 4bb.

so I had almost 75% fertilize and then 65% of those made it to blast.

  • Congratulations @bkatp on having 12 fertilize!  That is a great number!  And congratulations @kbenner2 on retrieving 24 and glad you get the relief of having the retrieval done!  Fingers crossed for more good news from here for both of you!  Are you both planning to transfer this cycle?

As for me, we ended up having 12 mature, 10 fertilize.  As of this morning, we have 7 that are continuing to grow.  Sounds like four grade 2+, two grade 2, and one grade 3.  We actually aren't doing a transfer this time.  We are having the embryos that make it to blast PGS tested so freezing all this round.  They are planning to do the biopsies on Monday so hoping we have a good number that make it until then.

@anared the procedure went well  They were pretty good about keeping me sedated enough were it wasn't too terrible.  That is really frustrating though about your clinic not being very good about giving information.  I have run into that with my clinic too from time to time.  The most frustrating is when you receive information and you feel as if they aren't 100% sure on what they are telling you (getting two different stories).  I have just learned to make sure to ask for the people who know my case best.  That seems to help!

@mackorori Good luck starting stims this weekend!!

  • @katie35 when will you hear back about your PGS testing? Does that take a while? When will you plan to do your transfer? That’s great that there are 7 continuing to grow!

@bkatp  I feel like I’m kind of in the same boat as you! I’m 32 and definitely concerned about my egg quality. Thinking about you as you wait to hear your results on Wednesday!

We will be doing our day 5 transfer on Wednesday. We’re leaning towards transferring 2 embryos, granted there are 2 healthy ones come Wednesday. Who’s to know? Here’s to hoping for good news and that the next few days go by fast!

  • Hi everyone! I'm new to the group and this will be my 1st IVF cycle so I don't really know what to expect. I'm on BCP right now and should start the Lupron this Sunday, but here is my background. I will be turning 34 July 25th and DH will be 48 in October. Married since Feb 2015 and been really trying since then. We got pregnant on our own just a month after we married and m/c after week 9. We then started fertility treatment a year later because nothing happened. Long story short, we tried almost everything beside IVF, including 5 IUIs total, 3 regular and 2 were monitored with trigger shots but they all failed. We really hope that the IVF will work 1st attempt because it will a big financial weight for us but grateful that insurance is paying for this cycle. My base line appt is on my bday,  will start stimming July 28 and ER will be 1st week of August and will be doing a fresh transfer if everything goes well. Good luck to you all!
  • Catching up and seeing positive news and great numbers! Good thoughts for strong healthy embryos that continue to grow.

The waiting to see if the embryos make it to day 5/6 is one of the harder parts for me anyway. They say we lose about 50% - 60% just to get to day 5/6, and we were close that last time. Though keep in mind I’m 42 which makes the stats less favorable.

All looked good yesterday so will start stims today and my first U/S Wednesday to see how everything is going.

Hope you all are having a nice weekend!

@babydust2507 Welcome! This is my first IVF cycle as well, I am on day 8 of my injections. I know it can be intimidating when you are not sure what to expect but hopefully you will find being here a little more comforting. Good luck and happy (early) birthday!
  • thank you  @anared , I see this IVF cycle as my birthday present and hope it will be successful. I am more concerned about the PIO injection, heard it was painful and confusing to find the right spot, but i think I should do fine with the others since I had some injections to take on my last 2 IUIs. @bkatp and @katie35 congrats on the great numbers! pretty impressive! did any of you did ICSI or they were all natural fertilization?
@kbenner2 and @mackorori sending prayers your way for healthy embryos and great transfer!
  • I just got my fertilization report back after being a nervous wreck all morning waiting! Out of the 24 eggs retrieved....15 were actually mature... and of those 11 fertilized with ICSI. Now I can’t imagine how long the wait is until transfer. Praying we have some good healthy embryos come day 5!

Also, since this is my first ivf cycle... this evening is my first progesterone in oil injection. I am absolutely terrified! Any helpful tips or suggestions??

  • @kbenner2 I'm on day 10 of POIs and hear is what made the experience 100% better for me:
    1. warm up oil vial in a heating pad on low for like 15 to 20 mins to thin it out before you draw it up, it goes in easier, faster, and leaves less lumps
    2. Ice the injection site for at least 15mins prior to injection, this totally was a game changer for me
    3. I lay down flat on my belly and have my husband sit by my side to give the injection. I think laying down relaxes the muscle more to resist the poke.
    4. Make sure the skin area at site it held down / stretched vs pinched up
    5. Make sure the injection site is right above your butt crack, near the outer half of the upper butt cheak area. If its right at or below the top of your crack line it will hurt more.
    6.  inject straight in with bevel facing UPWARDS, this will have it score through the skin vs tear it.
    7. Massage for like 10 mins to reduce lumps and bruises.
    8. My RE also changed the needle about 6days ago to 1in vs 1.5in because I'm smaller so this may of made a difference also.

Hope this helps, I'm a baby when it comes to needles so I researched and tried all the tips, definitely helped! Let me know if you have anymore questions. GL!
  • @kbenner2 congratulations on your great results! And @lemondrop0726 thanks for the tips pretty sure it will help us all
  • @lemondrop0726 thank you so much for the helpful PIO injection tips! 1st injection = done successfully and I think I can handle this! I think warming the PIO in the heating pad helped tremendously!! Thanks again!

I also found a tip on another site to use a 4% lidocaine numbing cream on the injection site for 45 minutes before injecting and I couldn’t even feel the needle go in. Phew!

  • So proud of myself, I just did my own PIO shot. I didn't feel like driving to DH while he was working so out of laziness I figured I'd try. I iced it very well so didn't feel a thing. Had trouble pulling back to check for blood so I just went for it and hope I beat the odds of hitting a vessel.
  • 10dp3dt, Im feeling very worried this morning, I feel completely different than I have during this 2ww. I feel "empty" if that makes sense. All symptoms including gas and sore boobs are gone, my temp dropped too. I just have this erie feeling. Im trying not to test especially because I feel like I know the answer.
  • @lemondrop1976 the 2WW is always so hard.  I know everyone says that you can't rely on symptoms (or lack there of) during this time but I know it is hard not to think into it.  Keep your chin up, you are almost there!  Will be thinking of you over the next few days!
  • Thank you @katie35. I think my temp dropping is what really is bringing me down. I just feel so "normal" today.
  • @lemondrop1976 oh I’m so so sorry you’re feeling worried. The tww is just the worst. When do you have your beta? Or are you going to test first??  Thinking about you and praying for you.

  • @kbenner2 thank you! My beta is this Friday 7/20. Im trying my best not to test, with exception to me temping which I regret now. Today is my first day of feeling that this didn't work. Hopefully something changes by tomorrow to get my positivity back.
  • Hi everyone, so I started on Lupron last night and this morning I have been spotting, I 'm still on BCP and never missed, did anyone experience some spotting being on BCP and Lupron? I called my RE and the nurse said it happens sometimes and we will continue with the calendar.
@lemondrop0726 sending prayers and love your way. I'm pretty sure you're still in the game and you'll get your BFP. Stress can affect also affect your temp because it will affect your sleep and will not give you an accurate result to use for your chart, if that makes sense/? how did you sleep?
  • @babydust2507 Thank you! Actually I have been waking up more than usual this entire past week, mainly because I've been drinking more so I have to use the bathroom like every 2hrs which I am not used to. Hopefully you are right and I still have a chance this round...4 days of wondering to go.
  • I am pretty sure that's what going on. I had the same issue, wake up 3-4 times during the night to use the bathroom or wake up really early and can't go back to sleep and my chart didn't make any sense and my RE told me to stop the BBT because it wouldn't be accurate in those scenarios . 4 days will go by fast and you'll get your BFP, and I know it's hard! I can see myself stressing like you during my 2WW
