Wow! I can’t believe that I have yet another delay! I was all set to transfer in July then a few weeks ago I got Into a pretty bad car accident that totaled my car. I “thought” I was ok but last week my back REALLY started to hurt to the point I couldnt even get out of bed without MH or a cane helping me. I have some discs pressing on some nerves and some other stuff going on after I got The MRI results. I’ll be having lots of physical therapy, Chiro and a couple injections into my spine over the month of July. Needless to say im OUT for July FET.

So hello my fellow August FET buddies!!! A little about me I’m 37 , did my ER back in Dec where we have 5 PGS normal embryos(1 male and 4 females) and 3 mosaics. DH has MFI ( low count and morph) and I had septate uterus that I had Surgery on in January the RE said with our ages and MFI it’s straight to IVF for us. We were benched for a few months and had some delays and now this SMH! The universe  is always throwing something at us lately but everything happens for a reason, right?

Re: August 2018 FET

  • @ndz2018 so sorry to hear about your accident!  I hope all your therapy goes well and you recover quickly!  I had another failed transfer in June.  I took a few hpt’s before beta.  The line started out light and continued to get lighter.  By the day of beta my hcg was 2.  So I’ll be joining you in August.  I am down to my last embryo so hopefully August is it for us!!

  • @laurengon82 I’m so sorry you’re here in Aug with me. Have they spoken about changing your FET protocol at all?

Hello ladies! I will also be joining August. My FET will most likely be the last week of August, depending on how long they have me on BCP . Just waiting for my hysteroscopy on July 17th and then moving on from there.

@laurengon82 so sorry your last transfer was unsuccessful. Does your RE have any insight? We are also transferring our last embryo. FX August is a lucky month for everyone!
  • @ndz2018 and @J1006 I have another consultation with the re on Friday, but we’ve already discussed my options a little over the phone already.  He did mention era, also suggested I lose a few pound and that weight could be playing a role.  **TW** I’m only 10 pounds heavier than I was when I got pregnant doing an iui with stims with my son.**  I’m really surprised that my weight could be messing things up for me.  He didn’t mention a change in protocol and my lining checks have always been good.  Anyway my dh and I are making an attempt to lead a healthier lifestyle.  We started the keto diet about a week ago and I have lost a few lbs already.  I’m watching this documentary about it called the magic pill.  It’s pretty much showing how all these people with different health issue are having great improvement in their health after changing their eating habits.  So I’m giving this a try.  Even if it doesn’t help in my fertility journey, at least I will be healthier.

Anyway I start bcp today and my transfer is scheduled for August 23 as long as everything goes as planned.  That is my Mom’s birthday so I hope it’s a lucky day.
  • Hello ladies! I thought I would join in here as well since my FET got moved until the end of August due to scheduling an ERA for July.  We have 2 frozen embryos tested normal and if both of these fail it is the end of the road for us.   Looking forward to getting to know you all better.
  • Hi ladies, I had *another* failed FET in June so will be joining here. I have my RE consult on July 19th where he'll tell me if he thinks it's even worth it to do another FET or if he thinks we need a gestational carrier (which he tried to talk me into last time as well). If he lets us go through with it, I've already started ocps and transfer would be mid-late August.

  • Hi ladies. I will be doing my very first FET tentatively August 1st. I have a son from a fresh IVF cycle. I will not be doing the Lupron, just PIO, Endometrin and Estradil. Does anyone have any experience with this?
  • @bprietron welcome! Hope your era goes well.
@MSU_Girl1202 hopefully you can try another FET yourself and it the one!
@Rebelfirecpl welcome!  I don’t have any experience with non medicated cycles.  Mine have all been with meds.
  • Hi Ladies!  I'll be joining you for an August FET.  I already see a few familiar names from the June FET board.  Not 100% sure of date yet, but I'm thinking 8/17 or 8/20.  My RE still thinks we should stick with 1 embryo (we only have 2 in the freezer) and she isn't in favor of the ERA after only 1 failed FET.  I'm already on BCP and I did have the scratch biopsy/test done on 7/2 (if you haven't had on... ouch! And even took motrin beforehand.)  Here's hoping this is the one!!

@Rebelfirecpl - I just want to get clarification... Are you doing non-medicated or medicated (with PIO, Endometrin and Estradiol)?  I did medicated to prep for my June FET, so I might be able to provide some insight if that is what you're doing.  Let me know!
  • @Rebelfirecplb I’ll be going Estradriol, Endometrium and PIO.... I am no doing Lupron either.

@mandapanda1421 Sorry to hear your June FET didn’t work. I’m thinking my FET will be around Aug 20th as well :)

@MSU_Girl1202 Sorry your FETs having worked so far. Have you and your H talked about a gestational carrier and are open to it?

@laurengon82 I recently cut out all sugar and carbs because I want To be at a healthier weight for my FET. Apparently my BMI at 25 puts me in the overweight category.. SMH. I’m also doing it more for me to feel better about myself not my BMI. Since I cant Control all the other things happening in my life, I want to have control over something!
  • @ndz2018 I’m trying to do the same.  I’m really struggling with fruit though!  I love fruit!

@laurengon82 Tell me about it!! i love my fruit too. After 2 weeks I will Introduce berries back in since they are super low on the glycemic index!
  • @ndz2018 About the gestational carrier, I think that after everything I've been through with complications from our cycles, my husband is very open to using a carrier. I'm definitely more reluctant because I want to be pregnant and feel the baby when they're kicking. The other two big setbacks for us with that is cost and also we live in a "gestational carrier unfriendly state", meaning, it's extremely hard to use a GC, we're not allowed to pay them in our state and we technically have to adopt our own child after they're born.

Hi everyone!  New here to posting... I had 2 failed back to back natural cycle FET’s in May and June.  We are left with 1 normal PGS tested embryo.  After meeting with the RE we are opting to do a fully medicated ERA cycle (hopefully the biopsy will be Aug 3rd the day before my vacation- if my period shows on time lol).  With the ERA they will test for endometritis.  Hopefully it will just show we need to shift the transfer date.  I see a few of you are on your last embryo and getting ERA’s.  Nice to have the support this round, it is getting lonely!

@KsMi7 welcome!  I am on my last embryo as well.  I’ve had 2 definite chemical pregnancies and one that I’m pretty sure was but by the time I had beta hcg was 2.  I hope we can provide you some support.  IF is so hard, and most people that are not going through it don’t understand how traumatic it can be.  I can tell you already that we have a great group of ladies here in August!

AFM, I had another consultation with my re yesterday.  We decided to roll the dice with this last embryo.  If it fails then we will do another full IVF cycle to get more embryos.  At that point we will have to decide if we want to try with a fresh transfer or freeze all and do an ERA.  The re said we could do an era now, but he thinks there is a good chance that this last embryo could be the one normal out of the bunch if in fact the rest were abnormal.  Just taking our chances at this point and then if needed we’ll get another full cycle in before my insurance deductible resets at the end of the year.  Praying that this is the one and I don’t have to do another full cycle!
  • @MSU_Girl1202 Wow! I didnt Even realize that was a thing ... and gestational carrier unfriendly state? Really? I’m really hoping that you won’t have to go there and Aug will be you month!

    @KsMi7 Welcome!
  • J1006J1006 member
@Rebelfirecpl I will be on PIO and delestrogen (injectable estrogen) in addition to Lupron at the beginning of my cycle. I wish I didn’t have to be. I feel like it extends my FET schedule a bit plus it’s expensive haha.

@MSU_Girl1202 that’s ridiculous that you have to adopt your own child!  Would you have to ask a family member or something?

@ksmi7 welcome! You will definitely find support here. IF is a lonely journey for sure. I am blessed to have a couple of friends who had sisters deal with IF and they have been a great real-life support. But it’s great having he ladies on these boards as well, especially this kind of board. We are all going through the same process at the same time which makes it easier. Hopefully a shift in transfer time is all you need to be successful this time around.

@laurengon82 FX that this is the normal one and you don’t have to do another round just yet.
  • Hey guys I started a spreadsheet so we can keep track of everyone! Let me know if there is anything I should add, take out, or any suggestions for that matter are 100% welcome :)

  • @ndz2018 thanks for the spreadsheet! Hopefully someone can add my info to it. I only go on here mobile and I can’t edit the spreadsheet.
  • @laurengon82 That could be a rights thing on my part. Anyone else having issues adding??

    Mine also says view only
  • Yeah every other board that I’ve been on that had a spreadsheet, I’ve never been able to edit.
  • @ndz2018 Click the top left "SHARE" button on the spreadsheet, then choose "Advanced Options". When you click that, there will be a tab that says "Private Only you can access", you just need to click the button next to it and make it public

    @bpietronicco, @laurengon82, @J1006, @mandapanda1421, @KsMi7 FX August is your month!!

@MSU_Girl1202 welcome! your history in your siggy is quite extensive! GL at your appointment on the 19th! Also, I can't imagine having to adopt your own child when they're born - that's bananas!

@Rebelfirecpl I am currently doing BCPs and Lupron. I didn't ask many questions this cycle - just went with the flow, but should have asked if Lupron was necessary since I don't ever ovulate on my own.

AFM, Today is my last day of BCPs! I have a baseline tomorrow and our FET is tentatively scheduled for 8/2! I am not sure what to expect with a FET cycle. So far it seems way more drawn out but also laid back.

If anyone would like to add anything I'm all ears!

Also whats everyone doing this month to prepare? not that there is much to do this month but hurry up and wait..

2 weeks ago I cut out sugar and carbs, 1. to lose a couple pounds(put on 10 last Dec from my ER/holiday indulging and never took it off )  and 2. to take control of SOMETHING in my life since all this IF bullsh*t can be a giant mind f*ck waiting game lol

ALSO  question.... a few weeks ago I emailed my nurse who has been great so far.. we were curious about our embryos... we have 5 PGS normal embryos and 3 mosaics. Since out of our 5 normal's we only have 1 normal male, my H was obviously curious if there were any more male embryos and when I asked she had no clue and said "Well we wouldn't use them"  UMMMM then why keep them? From my research online mosaic embryos contain both normal and abnormal cells AND at times the normal cells push the abnormal cells out(something like that lol) and many of healthy babies are born from them. I even ask if we should retest them?? She had no insight and said we would have to talk to the doctor about it.  IDK it all kinda put a bad taste in my mouth. I want to know what the abnormalities are! Question is has anyone had any or know anyone with mosaic embryos that had them retested? Or better yet, used them ? OR any insight for that matter?
  • J1006J1006 member
Maybe she means they wouldn’t use them if you still had normals frozen. It’s also strange to me that if they would never use them why are they keeping them frozen. I would try and talk to your embryologist. Ours was great about answering and questions from our PGS report.

As for preparing...just trying not to go crazy waiting. I’m on summer break from my job so I can’t even distract myself with work haha. I go in next week for my hysteroscopy and then go from there.
  • @J1006 right? Even in the first email when I asked about them back in Jan she said “ that they’re not recommended for transfer” I’m sure she probably meant not if we had normals but again why keep them? Or do another cycle? Idk... I never spoke to our embryologist ...always communicated through our nurse. I honestly don’t know why it’s bugging me... maybe Bc I’m more frustrated with the process than the actual embryos. Don’t get me wrong I’m super grateful for our normals, but you’re right why not go straight to the source and ask if I can speak to our embryologist! Thanks doll!

@ndz2018 I haven’t heard of anyone transferring mosaics, but it seems weird to keep them frozen if you would never actually use them.  Hopefully you don’t need to use them and you get your boy and girls!

@J1006 good luck with your hysteroscopy next week.  Did you ever get your bloodwork to see if you had a clotting disorder?  I hope I’m remembering correctly from the April board.
  • J1006J1006 member
@laurengon82 all of my bloodwork came back normal. I did have a ureaplasma infection that I had to be on antibiotics for two weeks for though.
  • @J1006 glad that was caught and you got it cleared up.  What is the re looking for with the hysteroscopy?  Do they think that infection had anything to do with the results of your April transfer?
  • J1006J1006 member
@laurengon82. The infection could have caused the CP with my April transfer. My RE also did a repeat SHG and saw something abnormal at the top of my uterus. That’s why I’m going in for a hysteroscopy. To remove whatever she saw and check for any other abnormalities.
  • ndz2018ndz2018 member

@J1006 Did they say what they thought it could be? Fibroid? Polyp? Maybe a tiny septate uterus? Hopefully whatever it is will be gone and your Ute will be perfect for next transfer!
  • J1006J1006 member
@ndz2018 my RE thinks it’s a polyp that developed. I had a SHG right before my transfer and had a clear scan. It wasn’t until after my CP when she was double checking everything that she saw an abnormality.
  • @ndz2018 that seems so strange that they'd keep embryos that they wouldn't/weren't planning on using. any further clarification on that yet? Are you paying for storage on them?

AFM, I went in yesterday for bloodwork and a calendar review. Everything's good and I start Estradiol on Saturday and continue Lupron at a super low dose. Next appointment isn't for 2 weeks!

  • @madasm0530 I am planning on making an appointment to speak with the doctor before transfer as it has been a while since we've actually spoken(usually communicate through the nurse) so I would like to have a sit down before we do the transfer just to catch up and ask some questions. I am paying for them to be stored!!! I don't think it matters that much as I am storing the 5 normal embryos and I think its just one fee...  I think its like $1000 a year? Does that sound about right? Maybe if the 5 normal embryos dont take they would consider using them? The way I look at it is if 5 PGS normal embryos don't take we have a WAY BIGGER issues than just MFI!   YAY for starting meds! Do you have your transfer date already?

@J1006 Do they think it may have developed between the SHG and when they discovered it?
  • @ndz2018 yeah, that price sounds about right. we paid an annual storage fee at first and then I think its $60/month after the first year.
    transfer date is 8/2!

@ndz2018 it had to have. I had an SHG at the end of March right before my April transfer. My RE does them every 6 months and that one was clear. For this one, I even saw whatever it is on my scan.  My guess is it was very small at my March scan and then when I was pumped with hormones for my transfer, it grew.  To me, it was quite large, but I have no clue exactly.

$1000 a year sounds insane to me!  Are they charging you per embryo?  My clinic has it included in our IVF package for one year and then after that it is $25 per month.

@madasm0530 so exciting!  August 2 will be here before you know it!
