Re: July Symptoms

  • @wildtot and @MichelleAG05 yes with my first they told me to try to drink a cup of water per nursing session to help with supply. Idk if I was tired while nursing my son and forgot because hes 6 or if that actually helped with fatigue. Idk but I drink so much water right now and seriously just gulp it while nursing and it didn't seem to help the fatigue this time around. But still I am overly thirsty while nursing.
@kissableviv that first PP pop is super scary lol just stay on top of the stool softeners and it wont be too bad. Mine with my first was way worse than this time around although with my son I tore and had an episiotomy and with DD I had neither and seriously the 2 recoveries are night and day although I wouldn't classify my first recovery as difficult at all

  • @kissableviv I’m scare too! I’ve been given colace and took miralax the last two days so I’m hoping they helps. My shoulder and ribs hurt from the gas.
  • +1 to having to snack or drink water while BFing my first, not gonna lie, I fell asleep with her in the bed a few times that first week, but luckily my mom and DH would keep a close eye on us or just move her back to her bassinet. After my mom left I would put on loud music with my headphones for motn feedings so I wouldn't fall asleep. And for me the pp bm sounded worse than it really was, just stay hydrated and definitely take all the stool softeners they give you!
  • I recall literally chugging a full 16oz of water before every nursing session with DS and still feeling super thirsty during and drinking more. I don't remember getting particularly sleepy, but I will look out for that this time.

Still with this vagina pain, especially first thing in the morning. I think Baby is just head on with my cervix and I'm not a fan of it. Of course it will only get worse eventually, lol.
  • Wow- I went from being uncomfortable but tolerable to I just want to cry over the last 36-48 hours. Stabbing shooting lighting crouch pains that don’t stop. I feel like both my groin muscles have been pulled. Nerve pain in both my wrists and then legs ( probably from some swelling) continuous Braxton-Hicks. And baby went from being active to being over active.
A huge part of me wants to go in and get checked because I feel so crappy. Also slightly worried about the increased movement as it can cometimes be a sign of distress from the baby
  • @elizabethrn87 I'm sorry that you're in so much pain. I haven't head that about increased movement but I'd go get checked out either way, can't hurt.

I'm actually being productive in between bumping and looking at baby names. Still zero labor symptoms. I could say I'm "nesting" since I'm cleaning and prepping a ton though honestly that's more due to feeling like oh crap I'm almost 39 weeks and nothing is done and not some internal urge.

I'm hoping that the OB sweeps my membranes tomorrow.

  • I spent the whole day in the pool and I'm problematically sunburned on my chest and bump from not re-applying after lunch-but it was like, 2:00 so I thought it was fine! Anyway, ouch! Also was laying in a pool floaty the whole time almost and wondering if the fact that my but was sinking down in it under my bump made more baby pressure on my butt because the pressure in my butt while walking is unreal right now, and I wasn't on my feet at all today!
  • @smashjam haha, my DH made sure to remind me today to put the sunscreen on. He was like you don't want to be pushing and also dealing with burning skin. Good point, DH.

I feel like my intuition about having the baby this weekend is fading...my body is feeling too comfortable. Fortunately I have my OB appt tomorrow and I can adjust my prediction based on my progress then.

A bunch of baby things I ordered off Amazon are coming in tomorrow. I am so excited! I got the fancy tommee tippee bottle warmer and it looks really cool. Can't wait to try it!

/elizabethrn87 I totally feel you. Seriously uncomfortable non stop. I'm still working and its
driving me crazy that nothing is consistent enough to even think I'm in labor. My first was nothing like this =*(

Well hello there intense, non stop acid reflux. Anyone else having fun with that one? Also, what is up with a 3 lb weight gain, BP spike and swollen face?

I'm sorry you're feeling so awful @elizabethrn87 I hadn't heard that about increased movement and distress. I feel like I need to read up about it now since this super chill and non active little guy had been killing me with his acrobatics. I hope you get some relief soon!!!!

  • +1,000 on the heartburn @d_marie_23 I’m lying awake in bed with it right now. Maybe mention the swollen face, BP spike, and sudden weight gain to your doctor tomorrow just to be safe? Though at this point and with this heat swelling is unfortunately pretty normal :frowning:
  • @zande2016 So impossible to sleep, right? I finally discovered a glass of almond milk leveled it enough to fall asleep. Something about it having an alkaline composition.  And my docs brushed it off. Idk, I'm basically just not asking any questions anymore since they're not taking a single thing seriously. Oh well. In the meantime though, if there's not an allergy definitely try the almond milk!

  • For the past few days, I've been getting headaches and after like an hour of activity, I feel like a sausage.  My legs and toes literally feel like balloons.  Is that normal swelling or what?  I haven't felt this suckish all throughout my pregnancy and I am sooooooooo ready.  Four days from due date.  Never wanted a cervix check or a membrane sweep, just wanted as minimal anything as possible...that is out the window!
  • nimmlenimmle member
@julybabybear I am with you on the swelling, especially after yesterday. Between only a few weeks left to go and the heat I think the swelling is normal. My hands are constantly sore because of the swelling in my fingers. It's almost like I want to crack my fingers, but I hate doing that so hopefully it just clears up after Baby Boy is born.
  • @d_marie_23 I had a spike in weight too but it has to be water weight because I have been being careful with what I eat. It is frustrating. I have an appointment with the midwife today.

I also feel winded doing nothing sometimes. I wonder if baby is just up in my lungs and then eventually retreats.
  • @nimmle At least we're all feeling it together!  Can't wait for this boy to arrive!
  • In my experience, a BP increase definitely causes swelling and weight gain.

My newest system is a distinct lack of hunger. I've been forcing myself to eat and actually lost about a pound since last week.  Just made myself eat my entire burger and a side of fries though, since I only had an apricot and half a banana for breakfast.
  • @MichelleAG05 I’m alternating between being nauseous/not hungry and being famished. There’s no in between.

  • Just had my 38 week appt and I am now 4cm and 70-80% effaced, and she could feel baby's head bobbing around. She said it would be "so easy" to break my water but we will wait until next week to do any sweeps.

She also talked about nipple stimulation by hand or with a breast pump can help start contractions but that the oxytocin released doesn't last so if my body isnt ready, the contractions will fizzle out when I stop pumping.

And, she answered my question about pool time now that I lost mucus plug with telling me about a study where they put a clean cotton ball at the cervix and had women get into a pool of blue dyed water and very very little traveled up the vagina to the cotton ball. She's great!

  • @flockofmoosen3 amazing! 4cm and no active labor. I know someone who went to 5 with no active labor and still had to be induced with her water broken, so I guess it just goes to show the dilation really means nothing! I can't remember are you on the "Get the baby out!" train or are you the one with the interview and baby needs to hang out a bit longer?

+ 1 got swollen fingers and toes. My rings have been off for a couple weeks now, esp with the Florida heat and humidity as well. i did have to practically dunk my hand in soap to get the rings to slide off.

37 weeks tomorrow, appt today and he will do cervical check next week. Doesn’t matter to Mr if i know any progress or not but so great to hear some of y’all are dialated with no labor symptoms since i have to make it to at least 5pm July 23rd.
  • nimmlenimmle member
@d_marie_23 Definitely a good call. I haven't worn my rings for a few weeks now :(. I haven't even tried to put them on because I know I'll just be depressed.
  • @SmashJam I just found out today that I am not getting the job, and the only reason is that I can't be present in the office full time/5 days per week. I had everything else they wanted except for availability. It sucks...I really wanted the job but I understand completely. I will stick it out in my current position and apply for other ones when I get back in the fall. So....baby out now train, choo-choo!

  • @flockofmoosen3 oh I'm sorry! That does suck! So then I will say I hope those stats mean baby is coming soon!
  • zg49zg49 member
@SmashJam With DS (babe #2) I was dilated to a 5-6cm and had to have my water broken and pitocin before I actually went into labor. It was strange!! With DD I went into labor on my own at only a 2cm.

  • Due today and woke up a little after midnight with cramps and finally seem to be shedding some MP (which is so gross), of course I know all of this means nothing, but at least my body is finally getting the memo! LOL.

I don't get cramps with my periods so of course I'm being a complete weeny about the cramps and I know these are nothing compared to what's to come, but each time I twinge about them H gets all wigged out poor guy.

Been having period like cramping all morning. No contractions, mp, or any if that fun stuff though. OB appointment today shows I'm 1cm dialated, 70% effaced, and -1 stationed. As I stated in labor time thread, my tummy is measuring at 36 weeks and ob says this is because baby is even lower than she was last week. I'm extremely tired. As in, falling asleep while waiting for the ob. Lol
I just want her to be out already. I know she can potentially stay put for 2.5 more weeks, though. I'm over it all. Miserable. Miserable is a symptom, right?

Edit: words are not my friend

@SmashJam I just laughed out loud at the image of a little hand coming out
  • @SmashJam bahaha i use to imagine that too! Just his hand sticking out waving “hi”. Now that i see how long his nails are like no wonder it hurt!
  • This could potentially be a really dumb question but what constitutes "active labor" for you guys? I was always under the impression that 4 cm dilated was the start of active labor phase?
  • @kbernal2021 I always assumed active labor included consistent, timeable contractions that don't stop but get more painful and continue the dilation. People can be 4cm dilated and not even having contractions, or not having them consistently. I could be wrong?
  • @kbernal2021 I always thought any labor after 4cm? So 4cm+ plus active contractions?
  • @kbernal2021 not a dumb question at all. I kept seeing the same thing when I was googling about the onset of labor and dilation and whatnot. But clearly, you can be 4cm and not just be in labor, as I am for today. FWIW, this is my 3rd so maybe my body is better able to maintain pregnancy with this gaping hole in my cervix than it could when I was a FTM. I was already in active labor at 4cm with DD at 40 weeks, only in pre/early labor at 4cm with DS at 39 weeks, and now 4cm and no labor at all with DD2 at 38 weeks.

I feel like it doesn't matter how much water I drink during the day. I still wake up in the middle of the night and the morning sooooo dehydrated! We got a humidifier for Baby, I'm thinking I need to set that puppy up early for me.
