Re: June 2018 IVF

  • @tinjp78 I should get my results sometime today so obviously I will be a nervous wreck staring at my phone all day! Transfer is tentatively schedule for 8/2.
  • Loading the player...
  • @becca07024411 yup!  I trigger tonight!

AFM: estrogen was 3291. I had 24 measurable follies, 7 of them were between 18-21.65 (7 more are between 15-18 so I hope those grow). And during the u/s, the tech said that some of the numbers are off because she was showing me how they’re squished.

I trigger tonight at 9:30 for an ER at 9:30 am on Sunday. Interestingly, I’m only doing the Lupron trigger tonight.  They put in all caps not to do the hcg/Pregnyl injection based on my numbers.
  • @purplg8r woohoo!!! See what a difference a few days make - you’ve gone from worrying they weren’t responding to being at risk for over stimulation! I think they are being cautious with the Lupron only trigger which is understandable as first they must do no harm. All those numbers look really promising and I can’t wait to hear how it goes on Sunday!

@tinjp78 how are your embryos doing?

AFM well we’re still stimming. We seem to have one follie on the right and three on the left over 10mm, though one of those might be a cyst. Also two more small ones on the left. Estrogen doubled again in the last two days, but still very low. We do next BW and US again on Monday but did start cetrotide as biggest is over 14mm.

@becca07024411 I'll also be eagerly waiting for your update today.

@purplg8r wonderful numbers and sizes! GL on your trigger tonight!

@emmasemm  DH and i are on our way to the clinic for the transfer. The last time we heard from them was Thursday when we got the two were fertilized and then no more updates. I guess we're in for a surprise, I hope it's a good one. Btw, I saw your post at the low AMH thread and I'm sorry that your DH was struggling after the surgery. I hope he recovers really soon. And I'm glad that you have more follies this time, boo for the cysts. GL on the stims and next appointment on Monday.

In the meantime, we're soon to arrive the clinic and I'm like...

  • Tough decisions to make today. It's Day 3 and one embie reached 10-12 cell and the other one was a slow 4-cell. Dr asked if we'd like to transfer one now, but she stated that she's not sure if it's gonna develop more or stop growing. It was all up to us to decide. DH and I opted to wait for a couple more days and wait till one reach to blastocyst stage. We are just a bit more worried about the 4-cell one coz we don't want it to go to waste. But anyway, we wait.
  • @tinjp78 the 10-12 is awesome!  FX the 4 cell catches up.

@pipsqueak624 I'm happy to see your second beta results. I love the sound of that graduation u/s... any celebrations afterwards  We'd also be thinking of you and hoping that you'll have a smooth and easy pregnancy.

Funny thing happened yesterday. So we were scheduled for a transfer yesterday right?  I had to request my student (he comes to my place to study English with me) at 13:00 to move his class to 15:00 "due to an emergent unforeseen medical situation" that I have. When he arrived, he immediately asked me how I was, with a worried look on his face. After serving him some tea, I began to spill the beans bc I thought since he is a medical practitioner, a dentist, that he'd understand my situation more and plus I feel terrible when I lie. After saying everything, he surprised me by saying that his two boys (6,4y.o) were from IVF and that his wife had the same case as I have (endometriosis). I'm amazed how our lives get connected. I had big feeling that this transfer would turn out to be a bust again and totally losing hope, but now that I heard he and his wife also went through this and got their sons, I felt more encouraged to hope again.
  • @purplg8r that’s great!!!  Will be thinking of you the next few days!!!
@tinjp78 it’s definitely amazing how our lives end up connecting with who we need to connect with at that moment. Fix those embabies keep growing!!!

  • @purplg8r 22 is great!!! Congratulations!!! Fx on the fert report tomorrow. Take a good rest today and I hope that you'd recover as quickly as possible.

AFM, the two embies reached blast!!!! Wooohooo! We got the news just a few mins ago (9:40am). We were supposed to be at the clinic today at 11am for a possible transfer but the nurse said they need 6hours more to observe, so we go there at 3pm. I'm still not sure what our dr will have us do today, but DH and I agreed that if we get an option to transfer, we'll take it and freeze one. Ohhhh, this is all getting so real!
  • @tinjp78 that is awesome news on your two blasts! Congratulations! A transfer and a frozen embryo would be great!
  • @purplg8r 22 is a great number! Hopefully the lupron trigger will help keep some of the post retrieval bloat away.
  • Where are you ordering your meds from?

    9 IUI's = BFN :( Thinking about IVF....
  • @pipsqueak624 Yes!  All good updates, sorry for my absence.

We had 10 eggs fertilize, and 7 made it to blastocyst by Day 5/6.  They were all biopsied for PGS testing and frozen and we will do an FET hopefully in August.

The other interesting outcome is that because we had enough eggs we did half ICSI and half conventional, since our infertility is still unexplained.  They did almost equally well (7 conventional/6 ICSI fertilized and 4/7 embryos are from conventional).  So silver lining we can rule out one issue.
  • @becca07024411 thank you <3

@erwahler I'm happy to see your update. Congratulations on the blasts and GL on the Aug FET. I think it was a good idea that you opted to do both conventional and ICSI. DH and I also did the same on our first IVF and it sure was nice to get the data.

  • Do the pineapples on ny socks look like pineapples?
  • @tinjp78 love the socks!!! And congratulations on the transfer - for us poor responders getting to transfer is a huge huge milestone!!! Keeping everything crossed for you!
Did you freeze the second one or transfer both?

  • Thank you @emmasemm !!! We transferred the slow one (4-cell at Day 3). The fast one (10-12cell) also reached blast but dr said it had lots of vacuoles.

[Def] *Vacuoles are the walled off areas of waste material produced by the embryo. A large number of vacuoles within an embryo, statistically, is indicative of a lesser quality embryo but, as an isolated factor, may not necessarily indicate that the embryo would not result in a successful pregnancy. It is only when increased vacuolization and/or increased cytoplasm granularity, along with decreased cell numbers, fragmentation and asymmetry, does it predict decreased success rates with embryo transfer.

So, dr said they'd incubate that embie for one more day and observe. But she thinks that there's very little chance for it to improve, therefore we won't be able to freeze it... it's sad.

  • @tinjp78 yay!  I’m so happy you got to transfer one.  I’m so rooting for it!!!  I hope your other one does improve   And I love your socks!  I got some made for yesterday!

@erwahler that’s a great number that made it to blastocysts!  When do you find out PGS testing results?

AFM I got my fert report back!  Of the 22 eggs that were retrieved yesterday , 20 were mature (1 was immature and one was degenerative).  Of the 20 mature eggs, 18 fertilized!  I’m so happy with those numbers but I know these next two steps are where we’ll lose a lot. The embryologist said that they’d call on day 6 which is Saturday.  But since it’s a weekend, if it’s too busy then they’ll call on Monday. I’m hoping they aren’t busy because I don’t want to wait the two extra days!
  • I'm so happy to hear all the positive results here!!!  @tinjp78 that sucks about the one, but heres fx that the transferred one takes hold!!!  good luck with the torturous 2WW now, I was going crazy during it!  @purplg8r those are great numbers!!!  That wait to hear the reports is torture also!  Why 6 day reports?  mine called with the fertilization report and then called me after 3 days with grading and i found out the final grading on my transfer day day 5.  @erwahler im glad to hear so many made it to blast!  I hope your transfer next month goes well!!!

  • @purplg8r also awesome socks,!! And congrats on the fab fert report! I would be banging on the clinic door if they made me wait until Saturday!

@tinjp78 ahhh well Fx the one you transferred is snuggling in right now!

AFM still stimming! We now have a 16 16 14 9. Estrogen close to 600. Traveling to the clinic tomorrow so they can scan me themselves. But I hope they will let me stim another day or two so we don’t trigger too early like last cycle.

@pipsqueak624 Thanks. I know I only have myself, my head, to battle with during this TWW, so I'll just do everything I can to silence those negative voices and emotions by....praying, hmmm and probably housework

@emmasemm the numbers are looking wonderful. Fx that all the timing of the next shots and procedures would be perfect <3
  • @emmasemm how’d your appt go?
  • @purplg8r

Do you want the short version?
    1. Got up at 4am
    2. Flew to London
    3. Had scan and bloods
    4. Flew back home
    5. Got call from clinic saying come back tomorrow for scan and keep stimming
    6. Packed suitcase and went to bed
    7. Repeat steps 1-3
    8. Checked into hotel in London, my new home for the eternity this cycle will go on for...
    9. Work from hotel
    10. Got call from clinic saying keep stimming and come back Friday!!!
    11. Went to clinic to get more drugs
    12. Bought lactose free chocolate and went back to hotel

My biggest follie is still under 20mm and they are growing less than 1mm a day and we want it over 20mm, ideally a bit more. Good news is we have two more right behind and one more just behind that - so 4 follicles within 5mm of each other which is really a first. One more at 12mm which probably won’t catch up but you never know.

So tomorrow I work from the hotel again, then let’s see what Friday brings - I’m really hoping to trigger Friday night for ER Sunday, but might be Monday even.

And of course there is a big risk by stimming for this long the eggs are useless at the end... but we’re so far in now there’s no turning back!

How are you doing recovering from ER? And how about wondering about your embryos?

  • @emmasemm Wow! That's such a busy schedule. Grow follies grow!!! GL on the trigger on Friday and I'll be thinking of you on your ER day Sun or Mon. <3
  • @emmasemm wow!  I’m amazed that all you’re doing!  I’m loving that your numbers are better this time!  I’m feeling great.  I never had any pain or bloating (the only thing was when I laid on my side, it kinda felt like I had a belt cinched around my stomach). Definitely wondering about my embryos and stressing about how they do pgs testing (we paid for 5 up front. What if I have more and they don’t give me my results on Saturday, but on Monday instead?)
  • @tinjp78 thanks! How are you doing? When will your beta be?

@purplg8r I would hope your clinic would call in case they have more than 5 blasts to biopsy?

AFM trigger tonight for ER on Sunday! Woohoo!!! I am so relieved and I was so stressed this afternoon waiting for the call. Especially as my day started with the hotel fire alarm and us all evacuated (I took my handbag and my cetrotide!!!) and then getting held in a tunnel on the underground on my way to the clinic. So after my appointment I did some retail therapy on Oxford Street hehehe.
DH is arriving tonight, well at least I hope so as we just got notified that his flight will be delayed...
Looking forward to a relaxing day with him tomorrow.

  • @emmasemm  Yay for trigger tonight! Whew your day was really something, good thing the retail therapy worked its charm. Have a great time with YH tonight. Fx for Sunday

    My beta is 7/10 btw.
  • @emmasemm I finally got them to respond—they said they’ll biopsy all available so that’s good. And I’m sorry your day started crazy but glad you got to trigger!  I’m so excited for you!

@tinjp78 3 more days!  Are you going to test early?
  • So out of 18 fertilized, only 2 made it to blastocysts. I have this crushing feeling that neither are going to be PGS normal.
