@bakerstreetboys on okay, makes since. Yeah, my 1st protocol used a daily injection
@purplg8r yes, it is only for fresh cycles and that is why my RE doesn't do fresh transfer. If you do get OHSS (or could possibly get it) the hormones from pregnancy will usually make it worse and worse for most of the 1st trimester until your HCG starts to drop. He believes it is safer for the patient to recover first and hormones level back out first.
Got the Day 2 call and we have either 10 or 11 A/A-/B+ embryos and the rest are average, so those are pretty much out. The embryologist said if we have a really low number make it to day 5 we should maybe thaw our two frozen ones to also biopsy and send for testing with what we get from this cycle, but a short while later my doctor called me with the embryologist together and he said he did not recommend that as it could potentially sacrifice quality thaw/refreeze/thaw/etc. He is worried if we do that there is a higher chance we won't have anything to transfer at all.
I wouldn't say hurting or in pain necessarily, but I am still very uncomfortably full feeling and super bloated. Like, I haven't really been able to eat or drink and even though my stomach is growling, there is no way I would imagine eating anything. Feels like I just chugged 2 gallons of water and ate a footlong sandwich (or at least, how I imagine that would feel like). Trying to take deep breaths hurts. For sure wasn't this bad last time.
I’m trying to stay busy and trying really hard not to test. I’m on 4dp5dt and I’m still going crazy lol. Fx for our other transfers!!! And for your embabies to keep growing!!! We ended up with the one transfer and 2 snowbabies. The rest of them stopped growing and made no more progress by day 6.
Hi all - went in Sunday and again today - I have a follicles growing at really different rates, so my doctor was debating whether to trigger today or tomorrow, trying to get more of the smaller ones into viable range. In the end she is having me trigger today so as no to "lose" the biggest ones. I have 9 over 15mm, with another 5 or so between 9 and 14.
Just yesterday I started to feel discomfort, it was worst in the late evening, was better when I woke up but is now creeping up again during the day. I have kind of dull low abdominal pain, more on the left, with some little twinges that are more noticeable. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Getting nervous for the ET on Wednesday, I've been keeping a positive mindset all along until the last 24 hours when I've become a bit more overwhelmed so just trying to get back to a positive place! Fx for all!
did my first menopur injection today. I sliced my finger open right before I gave it and it hurt so I didn’t notice any pain or burning from the injection lol.
@pipsqueak624 I hope you are holding it together. Once you test once it is hard to stop!
@erwahler that sounds like a good amount of follicles that are visable and a lot of times there can be more that they don’t see on the US. Enjoy no shots today! : )
@purplg8r I have started to feel better yesterday and today I pretty much feel almost completely back to normal except for if I try to take big deep breath or laugh. I’m glad the 1st Menopur wasn’t bad! I always found them
to kinda burn, but nothing unbearable, just burned while the medicine was going in, so hopefully you are one of the ones that find it doesn’t burn! How did you manage to slice your finger open?? Once when trying to recap my needle from the Menopur injection
the needle went through the side of the plastic cap and right through my finger and holy crap that hurt way worse than the shot! I read somewhere that is why health care professionals don’t recap needles and now I see just how easy that is to do!
Embryo update in spoiler
Every other time both this cycle and last cycle the embryologist called me before 9 or 10 am, but I didn’t hear from him until 4:00pm yesterday for my day 5 report!! 4:00pm y’all, I was a nervous wreck holding my phone all day. I am pretty
sure I just zoned out looking at my monitor trying not to cry. I had completely convinced myself that it was because it was bad news and he was waiting until the end of the day for my Dr. to get a break in his schedule so they could call together since there
would probably be questions, or a plan or whatever. I even googled sperm donors in the area for where my clinic is. Like I was completely convinced. Well, he called and said I had 6 A/A- and 1 B embryo to biopsy and freeze and then called back today that
I had one more B and one C grade, so 2 more for a total of 9! I am so shocked and thankful! They will be calling with the PGS results either next Thursday or Friday. What a difference from our 1st cycle in February.
@becca07024411 I sliced it open taking the needle cap off. I have the hardest time getting them off and my ring finger must have been right next to it because it sliced it when I pulled the cap off. Ouch!! Yours sounds so painful! And I would have been freaking out too—but glad that the outcome had such great numbers!!
Just realized that I said ET by mistake in my last post.... I meant ER! We had our retrieval today, we got 13 eggs and are really excited as that is quite a few more than we were expecting given U/Ss leading up! I'm feeling physically pretty fine, and anxious awaiting info about fertilization tomorrow.
@purplg8r our beta is tomorrow!!!! i'm excited but nervous! @becca07024411 I have to admit I tested with a first response early response test twice. It was hard to resist doing it. I've been good though, I've only done it twice. Fx for me and the other ET who are about ready to beta!!! I'm hoping for good news tomorrow, if so then I have to go again on monday for the 2nd beta. I found an adorable onsie on etsy that I want to get that has 2 little test tubes on it and says made possible with love and science I really want to be able to get it lol I haven't bought it yet because I didnt want to jinx anything! @erwahler fx for really good news today!!!
@purplg8r when’s your first monitoring appointment?
@becca07024411 that’s a great batch of embryos! When will you get the PGS results?
AFM we did freeze our one little embryo on day 3 and I just started stimming again for round 5 last night!

so my 2 tests I did had positive lines so I'm super hopeful, and I have been super nauseous in the mornings for the last 3 days. Hoping thats a good sign for the beta tomorrow!
@pipsqueak624 good luck today! I know what you mean about not wanting to jinx anything! Last transfer I want to look up EDD, but didn't want to jinx anything!
I had my first bloodwork today. Estrogen was 300.8. I have no idea what it should be. The message said I was on track. What was everyone’s day 4 estrogen numbers?
@purplg8r I would also say that’s absolutely ok for day 4. Did you also have an US today? Because you can only really tell by counting follies, looking at their size and looking at E2 all together. Theoretically 300 could be from one 18mm follicle. Or from 20 still tiny ones. Or anywhere in between. Also the change between each monitoring appointment will tell a lot in comparison with the growth (eg to give a hint that you’re not only growing empty follicles). plus with your PCOS they will want to watch your E2 doesn’t get too high and suggest OHSS

@emmasemm I have my first ultrasound with more bloodwork on Sunday. I hope I have a bunch of follies. And I learned on here to watch out for my estrogen numbers but I have no idea what to compare them to
@purplg8r hope your appointment went well today!!! We got good news yesterday after waiting forever to get the results from Friday, and had our second beta today. Waiting on those results from the doc and I get to schedule another ultrasound! Fx for the rest of you that are a couple weeks behind me!!!
@pipsqueak624 yay for great news!! That’s so exciting!
I had my day 6 monitoring today. I had 22 measurable follies—8 of those were 10 or above. My estrogen was 897. I add Cetrotide to the injections tonight and have another appt in Tuesday
@purplg8r that sounds promising!!! I hated the ceterotide it always made me itchy where the injection was at. That bothered me more than the menopur burning! have they given you an ER date or possible date yet?
AFM, I've been feeling so down and out from last week. I've got only 2 growing follies (left and rt) and dr told me and DH that I may not be able to produce more eggs anymore so the plan is we're going to get the 2, stimm again - ER and bank as many embies as we can before transfer. The news was such a hard blow plus the thought of the cost of having several rounds (we're OOP). Atm, we're at the clinic just finished my u/s and waiting for the results of the bw.
@pipsqueak624 luckily I don’t get too much itching. The area just stays red for awhile. But man I really don’t like the needle. They said the ER will probably be Friday or Saturday.
@tinjp78 I’m so sorry you got news you weren’t hoping for. Did the dr talk about switching up the protocol?
@tinjp78 I’m so sorry you didn’t get news you were hoping for! Have you tried for any of the grants that are out there?
@purplg8r you are lucky yours don’t itch! Mine were like mosquito bites on steroids! Are you taking it subcutaneous? With the little needle? All my stims were with the baby needles, and the PIO is all the IM long thick needles. My hip/butt hurts so bad! 6 more weeks of the shots
@purplg8r thank you. My dr did change my HMG brand in the middle of my stimming bc my follies didn't seem to grow as expected, when we switched to the new one, some improvements were seen. We haven't discussed the next protocol for my next stimming yet. But I'm guessing there would be a bigger chance that I'd be taken off from Clomid and moved to Letrozole.
@pipsqueak624 thanks. Actually, our city paid almost 85% of the cost on my IVF#1 (*tw bfn from just one retrieved embie *end tw). From IVF#2, they will shoulder 20%. But with only DH working and me, just doing a part time job because of all the appointments and treatments, I feel we r totally OOP, it's such a draining process.
I triggered last night and will have my ER tomorrow. Since we're just getting 2 follies, dr said they don't usually use anaesthesia for this, so I agreed not to use that. Later on I realized I don't know how that would feel and now I'm freaking out... I'm pretty scared of what will happen so if any of you had experienced an ER with no anaesthetic, I'd appreaciate any inputs on this.
@pipsqueak624 the needle’s not as big as I imagine PIO will be but bigger than any of the other ones I’ve used.
@tinjp78 I don’t have any advice but I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow!
AFM..day 8 monitoring today. 23 measurable follies, 9 of those being 13-14.85. (Considering I had 2 13s last time, I thought some would be bigger). My estrogen was 1592. I continue with the same doses and have another appt on Thursday.
@tinjp78 I’m so sorry you got less than ideal number of follies. Hopefully these 2 do the trick for you! I don’t remember, are you doing a fresh or frozen transfer after?

@tinjp78 hey old friend. I’m sorry they only see two follicles. I know what that feels like to hear. As for ER with no anesthesia, I always had it still as one of my ovaries is always hiding and they have to move things around a bit to get to it which they don’t like to do when you’re awake. Did you have a Hysteroscopy or a Saline Sono before? I had both of those awake with a scratch and felt ok throughout. I hope it goes ok. I will check when I wake up in the morning (as I’m only 7 hours behind you I think)
@purplg8r as I mentioned in TTGP your estrogen development is good and matches the follicles so as long as you see more development on Thursday then I don’t think there’s a need to worry too much. Just think in a natural cycle you would want to O around CD14, so if ER is CD12-17 it’s still quite normal.
AFM next monitoring tomorrow as Monday was not great. No follicles over 10mm and estrogen only just over 50. So basically all still pretending to be sleeping beauty waiting for Prince Charming to come along! We might get cancelled. Let’s see.

@purplg8tr Thanks for the kind words. Your day 8 monitoring looks wonderful GL and I hope we'd see good sizes on those follies on Thursday.
@mayflower513 Thank you for chiming in. I'd be doing ICSI/ frozen egg transfer, I think they don't don't usually do fresh transfers here in Japan, we've never been given this option before.
@emmasemm Thanks for the encouragements. Knowing there are people like you who truly understands what I'm talking about and going through, gives me comfort during these tumultuous days. Abt your question, I haven't had a hysterectomy nor a saline sonogram yet. I hope you won't get cancelled this time and get good sized follies when they check today. Fx
afm, our appt is 8:45am and now I'm preparing to go and face the challenge.
Hello ladies, I'm pasting this from a post I made in another thread.
Whew! I'm not freaking out anymore. I survived! I'm lying down in my clinic's recovery room. The procedure ended almost 2 hours ago. The total prep time and actual procedure took about 20-30mins. And I was wrong worrying about the local anaesthesia because I DIDN'T have any at all. They just gave me a pain killer that I inserted in my anus. Here is what happened in the procedure:
1. I was asked to pee before entering the theater. 2. Nurse instructed me not to move and to endure the pain because it would be dangerous if I did move. They'll notify me when the needle is abt to puncture my vaginal wall to access the ovary. 3. A nurse sanitized my vaginal area with an anticeptic of some sort- it was quite cold but was fine for me bc I was starting to sweat from my nervousness. 4. The dr came and gave me a pelvic exam, it was rougher than the usual exams that she had given me. 5. Next she notified me that she'd sanitize inside my uterus with an antiseptic and it was gonna be painful. Yes, it was pretty uncomfortable but not excruciating. I felt warm thick fluid was being pumped inside me there, lasted for 2-3 minutes I guess. 6. Then, dr punctured the right vag wall and I thought she got something but later on I was told that they got nothing. 7. Next was the left side and got 2 8. Lastly, dr put some gauze inside my uterus and informed me that it was gonna be painful and that she'll remove it after 2-3 hours later. I didn't feel that much pain, almost nothing. 9. All throughout the procedure, one nurse held my pelvis down to keep me from moving, it helped me feel a bit at ease that someone is supporting me. 10. I was hooked with an iv drip with antibiotics for 30 mins.
DH is at the waiting area and dr called him to her office to discussed with him the option whether to do ICSI or conventional IVF. Dr suggested the later bc 1) his SA today was ok for it 2) ICSI stresses the egg. He decided on doing conventional IVF.
We only have 2 eggs wherein one was from a small follicle so... the chance of fertilization is slim. We'll see tomorrow.
thank you ladies for giving me your support during my freak out time. It really did give me courage hearing your stories and experience. I you all!
@tinjp78 oh I’m so relieved to hear you’re ok and it wasn’t too stressful. Also I really hope you get some good news from fertilization tomorrow!

@emmasemm that makes me feel better. Today at my acupuncture, she said that 14.85 is low for day 8 monitoring so I was worrying. I really hope your follies wake up and grow!
@tinjp78 wow! You are a rock star to go through all of that without meds!!! I’m keeping FX for good news tomorrow!!
Guyyyssss! The two eggs we got yesterday were fertilized!!! Dr said, depending on the speed of the development of the embryos, we're looking at a fresh transfer this Saturday, 6/30 at 11am. It's most likely that only one would be transferred (and freeze 1) since it's not so common here in Japan to transfer more than that. But with all the changes and new stuff we're being faced with recently, I honestly don't know what to expect anymore. All i know is that I'm over the moon and super thrilled to know that I have 2 strong fighters waiting for me on Saturday.
@tinjp78 oh wow that’s awesome! Keeping everything crossed for your two! It would be truly amazing if you could transfer one and freeze one.

@tinjp78 yes!! That’s really amazing news!! I’m so excited for you!!
AFM. Day 10 monitoring today. Estrogen was 2631 and I had 21 measurable follies (8 being from 15-18.19). I go in tomorrow for another ultrasound and bloodwork
@pipsqueak624 Thank you How are you? When would be your next beta? I've been checking our thread and seems like you're our first BFP here?
@purplg8r You have great numbers of follies. Fx for the next steps.
@becca07024411 I've been waiting for your update, how have you been dear? Have you gotten your PGS results already? When is the planned transfer? Fx for good results
Re: June 2018 IVF
Fx for all!
@becca07024411 how are you feeling!
@erwahler GL tomorrow!
did my first menopur injection today.
I always found them to kinda burn, but nothing unbearable, just burned while the medicine was going in, so hopefully you are one of the ones that find it doesn’t burn! How did you manage to slice your finger open?? Once when trying to recap my needle from the Menopur injection the needle went through the side of the plastic cap and right through my finger and holy crap that hurt way worse than the shot! I read somewhere that is why health care professionals don’t recap needles and now I see just how easy that is to do!
Embryo update in spoiler
@erwahler fx for really good news today!!!
@pipsqueak624 sounds promising
@purplg8r when’s your first monitoring appointment?
@becca07024411 that’s a great batch of embryos! When will you get the PGS results?
AFM we did freeze our one little embryo on day 3 and I just started stimming again for round 5 last night!

@pipsqueak624 fx for good news tomorrow!
@emmasemm I have bw appt tomorrow and then they’ll let me know when my first ultrasound is. We’re stimming buddies!!

And I learned on here to watch out for my estrogen numbers but I have no idea what to compare them to
I had my day 6 monitoring today. I had 22 measurable follies—8 of those were 10 or above. My estrogen was 897. I add Cetrotide to the injections tonight and have another appt in Tuesday
@purplg8r 22!!! That's a wonderful number. Grow follies grow!!
@erwahler congrats on the 13 eggs retrieved. How is the fert report looking?
@becca07024411 I'm so happy for a great looking batch of embryos you got there. Fx for good PGS results!
@emmasemm GL on the next round of stimming.
@tinjp78 I’m so sorry you got news you weren’t hoping for. Did the dr talk about switching up the protocol?
@purplg8r you are lucky yours don’t itch! Mine were like mosquito bites on steroids! Are you taking it subcutaneous? With the little needle? All my stims were with the baby needles, and the PIO is all the IM long thick needles. My hip/butt hurts so bad! 6 more weeks of the shots
Let’s see.

7. Next was the left side and got 2

AFM. Day 10 monitoring today. Estrogen was 2631 and I had 21 measurable follies (8 being from 15-18.19). I go in tomorrow for another ultrasound and bloodwork
@purplg8r You have great numbers of follies. Fx for the next steps.
@becca07024411 I've been waiting for your update, how have you been dear? Have you gotten your PGS results already? When is the planned transfer? Fx for good results
