As much as I like field work I'm happy to stay in the office this week and catch up on things!!! I may have to break out my headphones if people try to talk to me, lol though I rarely plug them in because music distracts me.
On my to do list is finishing up training documents for the person covering my duties while I'm gone. A weird number people keep telling me I'm going to deliver early (I was a week late with DD) so they have me stressed because early isn't the plan!!!
@EErin86. I have started getting nervous about delivering early, too. No real reason, just that the house is not ready, I have no idea when SIL plans on having the shower, and of course I get an email that includes info on premature labor, and says that two risk factors include being overweight going into pregnancy, and being an ivf mama. So basically, two things I cannot do anything about at this point. Really?
I’m also convinced I’m going to deliver a week early. The baby has been very consistently measuring over 1 week ahead. One doctor wanted to change my due date, but my primary OB said no. So it would be ideal if the baby comes on the due date, but I won’t be surprised if he comes a little early. My Grandma keeps asking if they know when he is going to be born. I’m like, Grandma, that’s one thing that has not changed. Babies are on their own schedule.
DD had her first dance recital yesterday and did such a great job. Of course, I got emotional and am even more so because this is the last week she'll be sleeping in her current room (which she's been in since she was a baby). I'm on vacation next week and am planning to move her to a bigger room in our house and change her room back to a nursery.
MH's family just got in town yesterday and I am already ready for them to leave Third tri=tired, grumpy, don't want extended visitors.
@EErin86 Are you happy with the person who will be filling in for you while you're out? The person I wanted as my temp is now not going to be available so crossing my fingers for a good fill-in.
Me: 32 DH: 32 BFP #1: 1/23/2012 DD: Born 9/20/2012 BFP #2: 12/30/2017 DS: Due 9/10/2018
Air conditioner broke overnight. Woke up sick from being overheated. Thought it was just me but Max was sick too. Ugh. Omw home now so I hope apartment complex has fixed it... Or I'll start demanding outrageously. Ugh. You don't miss with a pregnant woman's ac when its in the 100s outside. Especially one this far along.
My coworkers are planning a shower for me for later next month. They are seriously awesome and I've made it known I need very little but they insist. We always play this game like "birthdays and showers need to be a surprise!", but we all know that it's going to happen. So at least my closest coworker who I share an office with is asking for input on cake and date hah.
@southernlady07 he's not my first choice but I think it will be ok. My supervisor is also his supervisor and should make sure things go well. I really just need him to cover the bare minimum until I get back!
@smsaulino oh no! I hope they get your AC fixed! Do you have a way for you and Max keep cool otherwise?
@smsaulino Texas heat while pregnant with no AC?! That is miserable. I hope they get it fixed soon!
This week I am starting to transition more of my duties to my two assistants so I can help them navigate any issues before I leave. They have strong relationships with my clients too so it made sense for them to cover, plus it is a chance for them to become stronger so they can one day move into a role similar to mine.
Today a gentleman at the grocery store said, “this must be your first because your ankles still look good”. Umm, thank you?!
@EErin86@klj0228 it was fixed but poor Max girl. She had gotten sick all over our bedroom and on herself. She's feeling pretty good now as she's begging to be held.
@smsaulino oh, thank heavens they got the ac fixed!
Omg, you guys, I am so touched. Looks like someone reserved the baby monitor for us! Whaaa??? That was another thing, (along with the high chair), I really felt kinda bad about asking for, because it seems so spendy, so I guess that's extra special to me that someone else actually thinks it's important enough that it's worth purchasing. I think the crib and the dresser are pretty much the only other big-ticket items left really! I'm just blown away.
People love to buy the big stuff! And sometimes people will pool money for a group gift. I remember being floored that people wanted to purchase the bigger stuff.
Went out to dinner and errands tonight with my H and DD. I seriously stared at her for a good minute straight multiple times during dinner wondering how I got so lucky to have a kid as great as her. Then I turned to H and asked if he could picture us a year from now with 2 kids (not just babies but actual little people with personalities) out to dinner.
There is a good chance I will deliver in the next 8 or so weeks and I have done nothing for this kid. Absolutely nothing. I need to work on that.
@yosemite2018 Same, on both fronts! I am constantly amazed that DH and I created and get to keep these incredible little girls. They are perfection!
Also, apparently all I’ve thought this baby will need are hats, because he has about 5 of them and nearly nothing else. It’ll just be me and my naked baby, wearing a hat (obviously) walking home from the hospital because we don’t even have a car seat yet. Worse comes to worse, I’ll just Amazon Prime a seat to the hospital! Haha! Poor third child!
@smsaulino So glad that AC is fixed and hoping Max feels better.
Im also scared about delivering early. BH started in earnest yesterday (turned 30 weeks) and I’m higher risk due to two pregnancies close together (only a 9 month break for my poor ute!). DH was born after an induction just before 41 weeks though, so maybe things will even out and this LO will be right on time?
@BusinessWife That's awesome! We bought the IKEA furniture and the crib ourselves because the delivery lead times on the crib were too long and we didn't want to risk waiting for it as a gift. I really hope someone gets us the playpen, mattress, and baby monitor!

@yosemite2018 I feel like I have nothing done and I still have about 8-10 weeks! I hope once I take maternity leave I kick myself into gear. (Fingers crossed lol)
@BusinessWife That's great. I was so excited when I got my monitor, my husband and I hooked it up and played around with it for a little bit. It was actually fun!
@MrsBigTime My uncle ended up buying us the travel system car seat and stroller. I cried because I was so excited. Who knew something like a stroller and car seat could cause so many emotions lol.
But the only thing I have going on this week is trying to stay cool while at work because it will be in the 100s with the heat index starting Thursday. Also preparing for my baby shower next week. I can't believe it's here already, next thing I know it will be time to have the baby. It sure does fly by.
On the note of doing stuff for baby... I haven't bought many things (really need to start) but we did finish the walls in the room! I attached a pic cause it took us over 2 weeks... I hope it's not too big it's always weird with the cellphone.
@tpeci that looks incredible! Our nursery furniture is getting delivered next week and over the last two days I’ve bought $600 worth of stuff for the baby. It’s starting to feel real now and I’m starting to freak out a little. It doesn’t help that every one I know has decided that now is the perfect time to tell me all about how #2 always comes early
@nackie thanks! And yes I have my freak out moments every now and then too. I think once the crib will be in there will be no going back, it'll definitely be very real!
Totally random...but I’m really happy to see that no one has posted in the birth announcement thread yet. In my two previous BMBs, there were several babies already born by now. I love that these babies are staying put and baking longer.
For those who are interested in following along, my friend went to see the specialist today to determine if she's having 2 vs 3 babies, and turns out it's 2! She's a bit relieved since it's lower risk (and a little less stuff that she'll need!). She's doing well, babies look good, heart beats are strong.
@nlc8424 Awesome! Do they know if it's the identical twins (the embryo that split) or the two embabies they implanted that stuck?

@nlc8424, so happy for your friend and glad to see that all is going well.
@nackie, fwiw that hasn't been my experience. My second came one day later than my first did at 38w2d, and my third came 5 days later than my second (39w).
@nlc8424 I guess the only way they'll be able to tell is if they share a sac and/or placenta (ETA: or genetic testing). But even then identical twins can be di/di (each have their own sac and placenta). It's probably too soon to tell anything. So exciting for her and her partner!

I had a dream that I went in for my 30w appt; they did an ultrasound and found a twin who had been hiding on the right side for nearly 7 mo now (my bump has been a little off center throughout my pregnancy, so pretty sure this was my subconscious reasoning). A little absurd as we did NIPT and I’ve had 7 or 8 ultrasounds already, but it felt real!
DS was born at 40+5 so I would not mind at all if this LO decided to come a little earlier. I have concert tickets 9 days after my due date that I'm still really hoping to make it to so slightly early would give me some extra time to be ready to go somewhere. Although I'm sure having plans that close to my due date means this guy will come late like his brother did!

FFRC: I worried so much more about that in the beginning, 1st, 2nd tri.... lately I pretty much dgaf lol. I'm falling asleep at my desk here! @DanyTargaryen
@BusinessWife - I did the same with DS, and will most certainly give myself more leeway 3rd tri again this time. Major development is done,so I figure as long as I don't go crazy it's not as big of a deal later on. Plus if there's any chance coffee in utero helps a nursing baby to be able to handle the caffeine in breastmilk that's a big benefit!! DNW to have to give up coffee because it's keeping my LO awake!

@DanyTargaryen my son had issues with caffeine in BM when he was a baby and it was miserable, especially since he never slept, so I was getting 2-4 hours of sleep a day and couldn’t have any caffeine. This time around I’m making sure to have at least a little caffeine every day even if I don’t need it. I’m hoping it’ll help
@nackie - That sounds rough!! Did you have caffeine when pregnant with him? I'm curious if there's actually a correlation as opposed to something that just sounds like it would be a plausible explanation.
