I love that idea, @SawyerRichardson! I try to make it down to ATL as often as possible because that's where all my friends live, in addition to my parents. Miss the dirty so badly.
@sliztee We traveled with our twins when they were 2 months old - the trip was supposed to be a 6-7 hour drive. It took 12 hours. Not saying that to scare you, but to prepare you - if you are breastfeeding, bring pumped milk/bottles and a pump for the trip. I had the pump with us but didn’t bring any milk & it was a huge mistake. Nursing just took so long, even tandem feeding them, and we completely underestimated how long the stops would end up being. The drive home was MUCH better because we had picked up formula and I was pumping so we could give them bottles.
That being said, this time we’re planning the same trip with a 3 month old and 2 almost 6 year olds. I plan to be much more more prepared this time - definitely bringing pumped milk and bottles and some premade formula just in case.
I am all for traveling with babies/kids, and if it doesn’t go well the first time, try again anyway. Despite the hard first trip (& another when they were 9 months and refused to sleep in the hotel cribs) we have continued to travel with our boys. They are great travelers now and I think a huge part of it is that they have had lots of practice.
