Symptoms and Questions 6/11

Re: Symptoms and Questions 6/11

  • I do make sure though that her clothes don't go in right after a dog-hair-intense wash (like blankets, or towels), and try to keep her clothes separate.
OMG the dog hair. Our dryer vent is ridiculous after we wash the couch cover.

  • @DanyTargaryen it makes me cringe!!
  • I am thinking I may want a dedicated mini-hamper for baby's clothes, I just don't want it to be an eyesore or take up too much space.  Baby clothes are so tiny, as it is, I know I'll be doing mini-loads so it doesn't pile up too much.  Any baby-hamper recomendations?  We use a few of those collapsible mesh hampers for our own stuff, but they are kind of an eyesore and just way too big.  Maybe only a mini cube-version of something similar?  Idk.  Still maybe not the cutest, tho... :/
  • @BusinessWife is there room to stash one in a closet? We have a tall thin mesh hamper for DD and while we do laundry a fair amount, it still builds up a lot when you factor in sheets, changing table covers, towels, loveys, etc. (Also I keep her stuff in her own hamper but often wash our clothes together to make a full load.)
  • @yosemite2018 You mentioned taking the Bariateic Advantage iron supplement in the Appointments thread I believe. What time of day do you take it? I’ve taken it at night the past two nights and feel like it’s made me wired.

@Redpuma119 that looks really cute!  I actually found this one I might try...

We are doing woodland, but with a nice neutral backdrop, so I feel like this is perfect!</div>
@yosemite2018  yeah, I hear you on it adding up.  I guess I mind less throwing sheets or changing pad covers in with our own sheets / pillowcases etc. than the actual clothes.  So maybe a small one will still work just for clothing?

Unfortunately, the only closet is shared between our room and the baby's, so for the time being anyway, that's for Hs clothes, so he's got shoes and boots on the floor in there. :/

  • @BusinessWife That’s super cute!!
  • @southernlady07 I take it in the morning with my prenatal (which doesn’t have iron) but I have never noticed any side effects from it. Since it’s slow release it doesn’t bother my stomach (which is why I used to take iron at night before).

@BusinessWife I love that! We’re doing a woodland theme also. Since the hamper will be in our closet though I’ll probably just use an extra mesh one we already have.

I put a small hamper in our nursery just so I have somewhere to chuck dirty things-plus I have our diaper pail for any clothes that got really gross. But, the regular baby clothes get washed with our laundry. I have a 3 bin sorter in our laundry room, so it's delicate/athletic clothing in one, colors in one, whites in one, and all of the hampers (except diaper pail!) get sorted in.

  • So, I must be weird here.  I do tend to use more natural detergents and no dryer sheets BUT everybody's laundry gets washed together.   There's enough laundry to do without having to do separate loads for everybody....

  • @arcticseal-2 I don't think you're weird. I wash in regular tide with everyone's clothes together. I just separate by color and delicate stuff so I can run different cycles.

  • @BusinessWife We use a decorative canvas container we were gifted like that in DS’s room, then when I go to take our laundry downstairs I just dump it in with our basket. So it always stays in his room.

I developed a sensitivity to scented detergent a few years ago so we buy whatever “free and clear” is on sale. Just to throw this out there, Dreft is definitely scented, so technically *potentially* worse for baby if they have sensitive skin. I prewashed all the baby clothes in free and clear on their own load first, but now all baby clothes get mixed in.
  • I forget who said it, but my Hs work clothes are just too filthy most days, to mix in with anything else.  He gets his own laundry loads!  But both of our coloured jammies / casual clothes, and both of our whites etc. can go together, and my (sort of more delicate) mostly dark work clothes mostly go together.  I am definitely a sorter. ;)
