This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Re: IF Testing and Treatment Week of 6/4
Diagnosis (if you've been): MFI - Low Count
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Waiting for FET
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): I should get the official call today as to whether biopsy #3 shows that we're close enough to do the transfer in a few weeks. We'd be doing the natural cycle so actual day of my transfer would kind of be up in the air for another week or so.
How are things going?: I'm anxious. Like super.fucking.anxious.
We have everything riding on this and it's scary to think that this month could be it. One way or another - this will be it.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What are you most grateful for? Did you ever read that thing that essentially says I'm thankful that my kitchen is too small - it means I have more than enough food to fill our cabinets. And thankful it seems like we're growing out of our house because we have the money to buy furniture and things to fill it. All of that. I might complain that I want to move because we need more space, but we're lucky we've been able to fill our house and cabinets. I'm happy we have our health. I'm grateful for an amazing family that has our backs no matter what. My husband is incredible and my rock.
At the end of the day, IF fucking sucks and absolutely takes over your life. But at the end of the day...life is good and I try to tell myself daily.
@KristoKekerooni thinking of you today friend!! Hope all goes well and smoothly with your traveling and your FET. Let us know how it goes!
Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained, poor responder
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): FET cycle
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):
FET scheduled for 6/20
How are things going?:
Things are good. Started my estrace on Friday vaginally it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. But the estrace side effects frigging suck. I always get headaches and have zero appetite. The appetite thing isn’t a big deal but when you’re on antibiotics twice a day and have to eat with them but the thought of eating makes you want to throw up, it’s brutal.
Any questions?:
Nope
GTKY: What are you most grateful for?
my husband. He is so helpful and I just love him so much. It sounds corny but I get excited to see him when I get home from work everyday even after almost 10 years of being together. Very thankful for him.
@50Wife That’s a really good way of looking at it! It can definitely be a struggle to feel appropriately grateful in the face of IF, but that’s a really nice way to take joy in the little complaints in life. Sorry for the stress and anxiety this cycle
@beachbunnyxo123 Sorry the meds are giving you some crummy side effects- estrace and antibiotics is not a fun combo! I was so happy to finish my post-op doxycycline, barf.
Diagnosis (if you've been): uterine septum, removed 5/24
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TTA
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Healing up, getting ready for first FSH/IUI cycle next month.
How are things going?: Pretty good- I’m nervous about taking next steps, and trying to keep my expectations in check. But it feels good to have a plan. I’m trying not to flip out since my surgical balloon fell out a couple days ahead of schedule (ew)- the dr wasn’t concerned, but of course I have to talk myself down from thinking that it will immediately make my uterus turn into a useless mass of scar tissue.
Any questions?: nope
GTKY: What are you most grateful for? My husband. He’s been amazing throughout this whole mess.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): wait. Wait. Wait
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): just waiting for AF...which will probably be late since obviously I want it to get here.
How are things going?:
Good! Got our report from donor eggs and ended up with 5 embryos to freeze. Now we wait for my next cycle to hopefully get an FET scheduled.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What are you most grateful for? Obviously my husband for being so awesome and positive throughout this process. Life in general is pretty darn good and I need to remind myself of this more.

@beachbunnyxo123 ugh! I’m sorry you get bad side effects from the estrace. That’s no fun!
@lin0442 new steps are always nerve wracking. Fx it works for you!!
@rallykat14 c’mon AF!!
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): on bcp until I start stims
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): starting stims for an ER
How are things going?: fine. Summer break started so I’m happy. I’ve come to accept this whole IVF thing (still working on the accepting the shots part. Lol).
Any questions?:
GTKY: What are you most grateful for? I am really lucky that I have such a great group of family and friends. I try to remind myself that IF sucks but I’m so fortunate in all the other parts of my life
@beachbunnyxo123 ugh the meds sound like a miserable combination. 6/20 will be here before you know it!
@KristoKekerooni thinking of you today.
@rallykat14 5! woohoo!!!!
@lin0442 that balloon thing sounds like a scary experience. hope you continue to heal.
@purplg8r I hope you get to enjoy some of your summer break. When do you start stims?

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): this will be our 3rd IUI cycle
How are things going?: as much as I hated being on BCP and benched, I will admit it was a nice break from it all. No appointments, no temping. I'm ready to move forward.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What are you most grateful for? Like many others have said, my DH he really is amazing. I loved what @50Wife wrote. I'll add to it and say a job/career that allows me to do the things I want to do (own a home, travel, etc) and also allows me to leave my work at work.

@rallykat14 Congratulations on the 5 embabies! Hoping AF gets here on time for you.
@50wife Hopefully they call today & all is good to go! It is completely understandable you are anxious. FX these last few cycles have provided the information needed for this transfer to be a success.
@beachbunnyxo123 Those side effects suck. Hoping it is all worth it.
@purplg8r Will you be doing your own shots? Anything fun planned during summer to help offset IVF-mind?
Diagnosis (if you've been): Autoimmune related / MFI / LPD
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): BCPs
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Hysteroscopy & laposcropy on June 13th. We are moving forward with shaving down the partial septum & checking for endo as well as scar tissue from a ruptured appendix.
How are things going?: H & I continue to be at odds on the next step after surgery. Otherwise, I’m glad once the RE presented this step & we decided on it, that they were able to get me in fairly quickly.
Any questions?: Not today

@50Wife I hope you finally get the results today! I’m so anxious for you and I will keep everything crossed that this cycle, everything lines up perfectly and that you have the stickiest of embies!
@beachbunnyxo123 I’m happy to hear that the new estrace protocol isn’t too bad, but also sorry about the side effects you’re experiencing. But, holy crap, I can’t believe that it’s almost here! I’m so excited for your FET friend!
@lin0442 Having a plan in place when dealing with IF always seems to help us feel better and I hope this is just what you need to get your take home baby.
@rallykat14 Gah! Come on, AF, let’s hurry up and get this show on the road! My friend has a PUPO status attain!!
@purplg8r Yay for summer break! I’m sorry that you got to this point but glad that you’ve been accepting of it, every single step we take with IF is more heartbreaking than the last. Hugs friend!
@Avrilmai I’m so glad that this little break really helped you, even if it wasn’t what you wanted. Keeping my fingers crossed that the third time’s the charm for you!
@jrm_14 I hope that once this current process is over that things are little clearer and you and YH are on the same page moving forward. I feel like our Hs sometimes have a more difficult time truly wrapping their head around all of this because, even though they’re living it with us, at the same time, they not truly going through it all like we are.
@KristoKekerooni I’m so glad to hear that the transfer went well! I’ll be sending prayers your way that this is your take home baby! When is your beta scheduled for?
@nitnat007 Good luck at your appointment on Thursday!
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA/DOR, hyperprolactinemia
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): trying on our own until IUI in July
How are things going?: Meh, yesterday was CD1, which means that at least when my body is being a TW that it’s consistent. My short an-O cycles always seem to run 16 days. And as much as I feel like I should mention these occasional cycles when we gear up for the IUI, I also don’t want any more tests run or any delays. Not to mention, it’s not as if I can predict when this will happen, which seems to make it a little more difficult to look and see what’s going on.
Other than that, I’m mildly annoyed because now (assuming my cycle cooperates), I probably won’t proceed with the IUI until the end of July because my next CD1 is at the end of my vacation and right before the 4th of July. I’d rather not worry about the logistics of that especially since the first week of the month is always busy for me at work. So I’ll sit here quietly annoyed with my body anxiously awaiting the very important CD1
Any questions?: No questions but I wanted to thank you all for your responses last week! I wanted to make sure there was nothing I forgot to ask about when I call the RE to discuss the IUI and the protocol.
GTKY: What are you most grateful for? I asked this because like many of you, I sometimes focus so much on what I don’t have while dealing with IF, that I forget about how much I do have. I’m most grateful for all of the incredibly amazing and supportive friends I’ve made during my journey on here, my equally amazing husband, a job that I mostly like, my 4 legged children, and a cozy place to call home

@nitnat007 It depends on how extensive it ends up being. Possibly only a cycle down time for TTC.
@lulu1180 You are right about men experiencing IF differently. MH is more short-term money focused, where as I’m long-term. He sees IUIs as “saving” the cost of IVF whereas I see any more as wasting money in the long run we could have put towards IVF. It ducks your cycle will probably end up putting your IUI to the end of July. It’s hard to worry about something like short an-o vs prolonging testing. I hope you find peace either way.
@jrm_14 yup—H works evenings so I’ll have to do my own shots. Not looking forward to it. We’re celebrating our anniversary next week at Disney and then have our annual week in Hilton Head in July.
@nitnat007We’re celebrating our anniversary next week at Disney and then have our annual week in Hilton Head in July. Hopefully Thursday comes quickly for you!
@rallykat14 I don’t know anything about grading yet so I have no advice. I was thinking I’d be starting stims next Friday but after looking more closely at paper work, im thinking Monday the 18th.
@lulu1180 I’ll have my FX that your body won’t be a TW and you’ll have just a long enough cycle not to need to wait for another one!
@50Wife I’m so freaking frustrated for you! Tney seriously need to get this figured out!!!
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm so excited you have a FET date! Sorry to hear the nausea side effects you get with the estrace and antibiotics. I wish I could take the lack of appetite from you. I've been ravenous lately.
@lin0442 GL on your first IUI!
@rallykat14 C'mon AF! When do you think AF will come?
@purplg8r How long are you on BCP?
@AvrilMai I'm glad you feel refreshed after your break!
@jrm_14 I'm sorry you and YH are at odds about what to do next. DH and I have been at odds at various times throughout this treatment and it's TOUGH. It seems the Hs are often a little more hesitant for next steps.
@KristoKekerooni What a beautiful picture. I have everything crossed for you!
@lulu1180 You had blood tests checking all your hormones and an HSG, right? I'm not sure what else they could test. The an-O cycles are strange though. Could the short an-O cycles be a result of the DOR?
Diagnosis (if you've been): NIR PCOS
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI #5 w/ injectables
How are things going?: Tested today at 11 dpo and got a BFN. I know I'm not completely out yet, but it's not looking too good. This is my last IUI because we've apparently used up our IUI benefits (lots of insurance confusion, surprise to me, long story) and I don't have it in me to pay OOP for IUIs since I need stims for them, as well as taking into consideration my diminishing odds after all these medicated cycles.
Any questions?: None right now.
GTKY: What are you most grateful for? My family, friends, and DH. I really don't know what I would do without them all, and I'm so lucky to have them.
@KristoKekerooni yes girl thinking of you and your two precious embabies on board!
@Avrilmai yay for almost being off the bench and back to treatment!!!
@purplg8r summer break already! I’m so jealous! Hope this gives you some time to continue to physically and emotionally prep for IVF!!
@rallykat14 I’m not sure how strict they are with their grading but my nurse told me straight up they were strict graders ahead of time so I didn’t get my hopes up on the embryo grading. I think it sounds like you still have great results but I can understand why you’d feel disappointed. Have you thought about how many you think you will transfer?
@madspunk ugh I’m sorry for the bfn friend and I’m sorry to hear about the misinformation on the IUI coverage. I really hope things work out for you this cycle.
AFM I had monitoring this morning. My lining is at 7 which is 1mm thicker than last FET cycle at my first US which was actually a day later so taking the estrace vaginally has definitely helped. Last FET they bumped me up to 3x day on estrace but this time they kept me at twice a day, woohoo. Means things are looking good and I wasn’t looking forward to more side effects. I go back again on Friday!
@beachbunnyxo123 still haven't decided how many to transfer, might do 1 the first time .
@madspunk I've been thinking of you. Insurance is so hard to follow.

Since the lab fucked up and took their time getting the CD back to my doctors office, it is now too late for me to do anything this cycle. I can't start Estrace and attempt an FET this cycle which also has me fucking livid. I have to call on CD1 and set up a meeting with the doc to figure out what we're going to do.
So we will try naturally this cycle I guess...
@beachbunnyxo123 so glad your appt went well and your lining was looking good!!! I can't wait to hear how the rest of your cycle goes!!!
Oh PS totally not being patient. Each phone call telling me I'm not ready comes with tears and so much anger and the "why isn't this working for me" game. But I'm not ready to quit and essentially give up on our embryo that's waiting for us, so we're keeping at it...
@madspunk I'm sorry about your BFN. I've got my fingers crossed that you're still a bit early on the testing and still in the game. Good luck!!
And that grateful thing I mentioned really puts things into perspective, right?? I'm really really pushing myself to start seeing things that way!
@lulu1180 ugh I'm sorry to hear how your cycles look to be lining up! Why can't our bodies know when we need them to actually cooperate. I hope AF doesn't interrupt your vacation and you can enjoy!

But yes - we will be trying on our own, and luckily the hubs is on day work next week so he'll be home at night when I need him
@madspunk sorry about the bfn. do you know what your next steps will be if this cycle isn't it for you?
@lulu1180 sorry your body is not cooperating with the plan. They can be so frustrating at times. Are you going to test FSH before your IUI cycle?

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): 1 day post retrieval
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Just had retrieval, Waiting for decision on next steps
How are things going?: Phew. Long story short: all four of our eggs retrieved yesterday were immature. Two matured enough in a special medium overnight to accept ICSI today. So now we have to wait until tomorrow to hear if those fertilized and start to develop.
Add to that cancelled flights causing huge stress over the weekend and now somehow having mild OHSS despite having DOR this was definitely my best ever week. Plus the bank processing our payment twice and having to wait to get one of the fees back. And a right ovary stuck behind my uterus, which itself is growing a polyp that looks remarkably like an alien... just awesome.
Waiting to hear if the OHSS or polyp or dodgy right ovary will prevent us from doing the second (of three) retrievals immediately. If we can go ahead I need to start the priming meds tomorrow normally.
Any questions?: Nope
GTKY: What are you most grateful for? DH hands down. He is so awesome through all of this.
Though today I also need to add my team of managers. They are all guys, have no idea why I took some days off other than for a “small medical procedure” but I arrived in the office this morning to a beautiful bunch of flowers. I was really touched by their thoughtfulness.
I have a lot of things to be thankful for to be honest and this was just the question I needed tonight to remind me of that.
