@tropical1982 I'm not AMA (29) or high risk and my OB pretty much just handed me the requisition form for the spinal bifida blood test at the end of my 16W appointment and told me to head downstairs to the lab. I did do the genetic screening at 12W because he said most of his patients do it, so it sounds like they may run more tests that absolutely necessary? I'd rather be prepared so it doesn't really bother me. Also I was super paranoid about SB because I was taking ultra hot baths at almost 5 weeks because I didn't know I was pregnant, so I'm glad that was something standard they run. (Just checked today, negative screening results, phew)
Last night I heard a voicemail from my OB stating that my results were in and should call. This morning I logged into their portal and my OSB results came back positive. I don't have cell phone reception at work and my desk phone is doing an update. Trying to not freak out and figuring this is just a probability test - looking online they'll do ultrasound or something else to rule it out....right?
The next steps include
1. Targeted fetal ultrasound is recommended to verify gestational age, fetal viability, number of fetuses, andto rule out anomalies. 2. If AFP is less than 3.0 MoM, repeating the AFP is an option to rule out transient elevations. 3. If this is a second elevation, or the AFP is greater than or equal to 3.0 MoM, targeted fetal ultrasound, genetic counseling and amniocentesis are appropriate options.

Mine was a 2.99. Maybe it's that just transient.
