How is everyone feeling? Any appointments coming up this month? I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you?
How is everyone feeling?I'm starting to feel better finally. Still pretty gross in the evenings. but i had like, two productive days at work last week, and it was life changing
Any appointments coming up this month? I actually only have one docs appt this month! I am also starting yoga this month, and will probably start interview doulas.
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? Well. Baby is A-ok, whew! I did opt to find out the sex of the baby, but it left me feeling a little stunned. I really thought it was one sex, and it turned out to be the other. It's left me a hot emotional mess, just because my emotions are completely haywire right now and all i do is cry about everything. I'm super ashamed of my response, though. I just feel like because of my age, this is my last baby. (but who really knows?) Either way, i'm a monster and this baby deserves better than me. What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you?I really hope this kid gets my knack for math and science. I would love making ALL the trips to the museums!
Haha this reminds me: I was perusing my health record online and saw that I was being supervised for “elderly multigravida”. Cool. Another way to make us seem ancient.
I’ve been feeling pretty good, a little nausea in the evenings still but super manageable.
My only appointment this month was yesterday - the NT scan and genetic counseling. NT scan looked good, just waiting for my blood work to come back so I can get a complete report. Had blood drawn for the carrier analysis and NIPT (I think that’s what it’s called) - so we’ll know the sex in about a week!
I hope this kid is just healthy, honestly. But it would be nice to have another sports fan so I can watch hockey games again. DH hates it.
How is everyone feeling? Tired and nauseous but thankful because I know it's going ok (had previous losses) Any appointments coming up this month? Today! Its my 12 week scan . Doing my NT scan and the progenity test today. It's all covered since I'm "old" . That's the positive side to it I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? My 7 and 9 weeks scan went well! What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you? My no allergies/eczema/asthma. My son has many food allergies, eczema and seasonal allergies from my DH side. It's been a struggle.
Physical trait: My eyes (for an Asian , it's bigger than my husband's lol.. still small but bigger hahah).
@ashin121 that's funny, because my husband is 50/50 Taiwanese and Irish and I so want at least one of our kids to resemble his mom's (Taiwanese) side...so far not happening. I guess our German and Irish genes are too strong. ?
How is everyone feeling? starting to feel better as far as the constant nausea goes, but still pretty exhausted (although that may just be life and not pregnancy) Any appointments coming up this month? next appt is 4/19, just regular yup you're pregnant check in I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? We got the results from our screen and all is well What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you? hmm...have to think on this one. our kids are all so crazy different and it is just exciting to see their personalities form and recognize different parts of ourselves there as well
Still not great. Eating is a challenge because I never know if I will feel sick after or not. There’s not really a clear pattern to it - some days sugary stuff does it and sometimes it’s heartier foods. Also super emotional lately. I’m 10+6, so hopefully this gets better within a week or so.
Any appointments coming up this month?
My first appointment with my OB office is today. I have gotten ridiculously bad at time management so I’m sitting outside on my phone. The appointment is in an hour. This one is just an ultrasound and then I have one with a dr next Friday.
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go?
I haven’t had anything except ultrasounds to make sure baby is there and still has a hb (history of m/c, so I was getting extra monitoring at an RE office. All my tests came back normal, so they didn’t really do anything, but the extra ultrasounds were reassuring).
What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you? My calves, haha. My husband has skinny little calves no matter how much he works on them and he hates it. That’s been his wish for all of our kids and seeing how much it bothers him, I don’t want it to be an issue for our kids too.
@jengibre_zorro I love the choice of picture for the thread!
How is everyone feeling? Much better, starting to feel like myself again, but now I'm stressed with feeling overwhelmed by everything I've been letting go for the last two months. My house is disgusting and I have so much work I've been ignoring. Any appointments coming up this month? I have one April 13th. I thinks its just the generic weight, blood pressure, heart beat type or appointment.
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? We just got our results yesterday! No chromosomal abnormalities, and we found out its a girl!
What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you? My independence!
@norahkate haha see it as a blessing. Your mil probably is happy that the kids have bigger "western or European" features lol
@jengibre_zorro I never thought about this until my son had food allergies to all nuts, eggs, dairy, chickpeas, sunflower since 4 months old. It's soooo hard flying and eating out. I home cook everything . Nursing with that diet was really hard . He's grown out of everything but nuts now so it's easier and less stressful.
@KFrob Thank you! I came inside and they have a tv with all kinds of health stuff on. They just had a pregnancy thing and it said nausea should go away by 20 weeks.... I might cry. I was looking forward to 12 weeks!
How is everyone feeling? Still feeling good. I'm watching the scale like a hawk and still eating healthy-ish because I'm so afraid of getting GD!!
Any appointments coming up this month? I have one on the 13th (genetic counseling and ultrasound) and one on the 20th (regular 12 week checkup).
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? Not yet. EDD 10/31 - What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you? Definitely no allergies...a healthy HAPPY baby would be nice. I had one with colic and he was a very unhappy infant.
How is everyone feeling? I’m feeling pretty good at 11w2d. Random bouts of nausea and extremely tired at times. Sore boobs have faded for the most part. Any appointments coming up this month? I have my first prenatal appointment tomorrow! Excited/nervous. I just want to hear the heartbeat and be able to finally spill the news! What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you? I’m not sure.. I’ll go with sensitivity! Both my boys are so sensitive and sweet. I can’t wait to see this little ones personality unfold into their very own
@ashin121 that's funny...my mil passed away before i met my husband, but he always says the same thing! she named her kids Jason and Jennifer because she wanted the most all-American names she could think of.
Feeling pretty good. Nausea is gone, my gag reflex is mostly back to normal. If the day isn’t crazy, I can stay up a bit later.
Any appointments coming up this month?
Just a regular check-in with my OB on 18th.
I’m also starting the process of finding/interviewing doulas. I have two meetings set up, and a third was supposed to call last night. She didn’t call. A fourth responded to my email, but called me the wrong name and something about her message just got under my skin; so that was an easy no.
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go?
Went well, the NIPT came back with no chromosomal abnormalities. I also got to see Blast on an ultrasound, and they had a normal heartbeat (166).
What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you?
@knottieamusements - I have heard SO many stories of people interviewing doulas where the doula is late or doesn't show up, or misses an appt, and its just like WHAT? your entire job involves you being at the right place at the right time. If you're a flake, you are probably in the wrong field!
Yeah, one of the things that pregnancy has brought out in me is a lot less willingness to put up with other people’s shit.
I literally had a lawyer I contacted (seriously- who should be more detail oriented) misspell both my first and last names in a response email. Just like with the doula, it was clearly written in the original email’s closing. Nope. Nope. All the nope.
For the one who didn’t call last night, I’m willing to wait a day or two to see if she follows up. I understand things come up, and since it was a call during the evening, there wasn’t a negative impact to my schedule.

She could have been at a delivery. In that case, I’d want her focusing on the person in labor instead of calling me back because then I know I can expect the same. I’d expect a call the next day to explain though.
No more pukey face feeling but headaches for 3 days and the intense need for fiber! I had my blood results return normal! We didn't find out sex intentionally because we're having a baby sex party in two weeks! Nothing crazy, a little potluck and some kind of reveal orchestrated by my best friend in front of a few close friends. I can't wait! Next appointment tomorrow, just a check up. Also starting week 14 tomorrow, so officially done with first trimester! I just hope this kid inherits the ability to sleep. The 2.5 year old still doesn't sleep through the night!
How is everyone feeling? I finally stopped feeling nauseous all the time like a day ago. It's been better, at least. Still too tired to lift even a grocery bag, much less my 3 year old.
Any appointments coming up this month? Ultrasound for NT next Wed. After that we will tell people more widely, including our daughter.
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? Genetic bloodwork came yesterday, all clear and it's a boy, which I was 100% convinced of anyway. What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you? This sounds maybe weird, but I'm a feminist and I am very anxious about how to raise a boy who doesn't get trapped in the toxic masculinity bullshit. So I hope he gets some "wokeness", as the kids say, from me.
How is everyone feeling? Really tired and nauseous (on and off)
Any appointments coming up this month? I have a screening and ultrasound next week.
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? Haven't had mine yet What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you?
Independence...I think (this could be a double edged sword)
Any appointments coming up this month? A few. OB appointment next week, prenatal massage the 14th, perinatal ultrasound Apr 25, then u/s every two weeks because twins.
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? I had the NT ultrasound today (all clear x2) which showed lower risk twins than we thought, and a fetal echocardiogram that showed both have normal major cardiac structure (chambers and great vessels). We’ll do a repeat in May to look for fine details.
What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you? All three kids have DHs blue eyes. Mine are green, so it would be neat to see some green eyes around here. Or my love of theatre!!!
How is everyone feeling? Feeling pretty good ! the fatigue is starting to go away for the most part and I skipped ( knock on wood ) a lot of the morning sickness but every now and again I feel super sick but not enough to actually be sick . Small spurts - totally worth it ! I Love being pregnant
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? This is where I am having a little bit of a hard time . . I had my screening ultrasound on March 22nd - they said it may take 10 days to get the results . I called my doctor last week and they said they hadn't received the results yet . I called yesterday to the ultrasound clinic and they said they faxed the results on the 23rd . 1.) STILL so anxious for the results ! Really hope baby is happy and healthy and growing more than anything and 2.) My doctors kinda really sucks with following up with me or answer their phones so I can make an appointment . I asked to be referred to an OBGYN but he said he can't until 20 weeks .
What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you?I hope my child is really happy and loves to laugh . . oh AND loves fishing and outdoorsy stuff
@jennybean80 - Thats good news on the twins! I know you had previously thought they were mo/mo twins....does this mean they are a different type now that is lower risk? or did some other factor change?
@jengibre_zorro they found a membrane between them, making them mono-di instead of mono-mono. There is still risks of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, but the bigger risk of cord accidents/entanglement isn’t there anymore which is a huge relief!

sorry to hear about the lack of response from your doc. thats super frustrating! yes the one thing i want for my kid is to be happy too the outdoorsy part is a plus!
Don't want to start a new thread since May is more than halfway through.
Had my 16 week appt last Friday and they did a blood draw for a spina bifida test. I don't remember this with my last two, is it AMA related? Did y'all have this done also?
@tropical1982 - Maybe it is standard practice at your OB? I’m also AMA, and didn’t have a blood draw to screen for that. I believe that they check for it at the 20wk Ultrasound.
@tropical1982 I got handed the paperwork to get it done but decided to wait and see how the anatomy scan went. I also don't remember getting offered it the first time. My doctor said with all the new tests and ultrasounds the test is sort of antiquated and she wouldn't be surprised if they stop using it soon. I decided not to do it.
They mentioned it was screened for in the NIPT and that was probably more accurate since its actual DNA vs this is a probability test. It was just a tube of blood and I was there already so I went with it but thought it was strange. Does sound like it's antiquated and obsolete at this point if it's already been done in NIPT and will get looked at in the ultrasound.
They did it for me too. They sort of explained it as they were drawing the blood... I'm just very used to them drawing blood by this point and I don't always ask what they're doing it for. No call back, though, and it was a month ago - my next appointment is tomorrow. So I guess it came out ok?
I had a blood draw for it at my last 16w appt. I was kind if anniyed because I tried to turn it down and the nurse just kept telling me that they recommend everyone do it. So I just said whatever and had it done. They called me just a couple days later and said everything was fine.
How is everyone feeling? 20 weeks and pretty good. Did have a bad night with heartburn, hot flash, and hormones. Any appointments coming up this month? 20 week u/s and midwife visit today!
I think most of us had some kind of 1st trimester screening - how did it go? opted out of any of the 1st tri screening. Going to see what the 20 week u/s brings.
What is one trait you hope your child inherits from you? sense of humor, laid back, pretty good health.
