Today is party prep for tomorrow... Plus fixing the pool (cracked hose). Lots of cleaning in my future and crossing my fingers that no one passes out from the heat tomorrow
We've got a family party at my MILs this afternoon. It's been quite a while since a majority of my H's side of the family has been together so the kiddos will play and adults will chat and eat. All we need to bring is watermelon so I can handle that! It's supposed to be mid 80s I think. How warm will it be for you this weekend @EErin86?
We have some friends/neighbors who are down visiting from New Jersey. They come 5 weeks a year and it’s always so exciting when they are here. Our friend group of 5 couples all boat during the day and then have dinner and drinks in the evening. There is a wrench in the boating piece this weekend since it just keeps raining, but the dinner piece is still fun. Plus, the rain means I get to rest in the day.
@eerin86 do you normally have a Memorial Day party? If I remember correct you live somewhere cold in the winter so will the pool be warm enough to swim in at the party?
My bestie is in town so DD and I are doing lunch with her today. Tomorrow we have swim lessons and then a pool party at my aunt’s house. Monday we go to an annual BBQ with about 100 people.
Sounds like everyone is going to have such fun weekends!
H and I just did a lot of much needed cleaning. No big plans for us. Tomorrow is our anniversary We always go to these beautiful gardens and have a mini picnic for that. And I'm getting brunch with the bestie in the morning! Despite living just a couple miles apart, I haven't seen her since last month so I'm excited about that.
Im cleaning and errand-running today and then going out to see DH’s band tonight while DS has his first sleepover at Grandma’s. I’m a little nervous but overall think he will be fine. I’m excited to not have to turn on a baby monitor tonight!
Tomorrow is church and probably starting to build DS’s gigantic swing set. We luckily got the yard work out of the way yesterday evening. Keeping Fx for no rain. Our neighbors are smoking a giant pork butt for pulled pork, which is awesome.
Monday we will have burgers and hot dogs on the grill and invited family and friends to stop by if they want. Not sure how many people will show!
It's supposed to get into the 90s here tomorrow, which is pretty hot for Wisconsin people. We'll have the garage cleared out and some shade tents so everyone should be fine. The pool has reached swimmable temps (upper 70s) so that's an option for people too. It's a combo memorial day/DD birthday party. We will have a mix of friends/family/coworkers. We moved into this house last July so this is our first full summer with enough space to host a bunch of people.
@Wishilivedinflorida we also have a giant swingset to assemble and DH is smoking pork butts for the party! I don't think we will get to the swingset this weekend though
Monday we are going to a friend's for a party so it will be nice to take leftovers and just chill
Happy weekend! Hoping to make some progress on the “nursery” (lol no, it’s still a room full of furniture and boxes we need to either get rid of or store). Then getting the last few things I need for next weekend. My brother is getting married! But I have to fly across the country, which for me, would be an ordeal even not pregnant. Trying to not think about it much but still gotta plan.
Would anyone recommend/discourage compression socks for flying? I’ve been reading online that it’s helpful but my dr didn’t mention it so I know it isn’t necessary.
@SkilledSailor happy anniversary!!! Love the picnic idea! I hope it is delightful.
We are doing less party and lots of work. Today is supppsed to be the last day our deck is under construction. A 2-3 day project has turned into three weeks and budget explosion. But they are almost done!!!
DH power washed our outdoor furniture to put back on the deck once the paint fully dries, and washed DD’s outdoor water toys. So that’s great! We weeded our veggie garden, so we can transfer the veggies from their little indoor trays.
I shaved our standard poodle’s face and feet. Which makes our lawn look like it snowed cotton. He’s all clean looking now which makes me happy!
DD seems to be feeling under the weather so we’ll see how much family visiting we can do. Cranky toddlers are not fun. We were hoping to take her to the community pool tomorrow and Monday’s, but we’ll see.
@ashh2018 I say yes to compression socks. They aren't that expensive and they can only help and not hurt. And if they don't help or if they bug you, you can always just take them off.
Sounds like a bunch of you have fun plans for the weekend! Hoping for good weather for all the parties. We’re potty training, so we’re stuck inside and within sprinting distance of the toilet.
Happy long weekend everyone!!! We are not doing anything for Memorial Day specifically, but we are working on cleaning out the soon-to-be nursery/current room with a bunch of crap in it.
I’m flying this week to Cincinnati to see family for a few days and then to have a girls weekend with my best friends! I’m so excited. We do this once a year since we all live in different places. I’m also excited for my Mom and Grandma to see me pregnant for the first time!
While I’m gone, DH is painting the whole apartment and our bathtub is getting re-glazed and fixed up! I’m so excited to come back after that and really start getting ready for the baby!
And, @ashh2018 I wore compression socks (knee high) from target when I flew a few weeks ago and they really helped a lot! I will be wearing them again when I fly this week.
@ashh2018 also make sure you get up and walk around every hour or so. I usually have a window seat but when I flew 2 weeks ago I took the aisle so I could get up and down as much as I wanted. I also just walked in place (looked funny but it helped).
@nackie samies! We are staying home all weekend to potty train as well. Pee everywhere, lol! Actually only one floor pee thus far, but the day is young so there's still time
Our weekend looks more like @ashh2018 and @magnolia209 's lol I HOPE!!! Minus the flying. I would love to finally get the three bedrooms cleabed out and swapped around, i.e. nursery cleared out so we can think about how we want to organize things, new guest room set up, and be one big step closer to pulling the trigger on our new bedroom furniture. (!!!)
...Buuut DH has already committed to going back over to MILs to continue helping with the flood cleanup. :/ which means I'll probably end up going there too, and then that only leaves Monday. My brother's also texting me too, so we'll see if he ends up wanting to come down, then that means I've got to go to the store, (which will be mobbed), feed everyone, and just hang out and probably not actually get any of that house / nursery work done. :'(
ETA Oh! I meant to say before, Happy Anniversary @SkilledSailor ❤ Ours is coming up any day now, too!
AFM: DD and I are having a girls’ weekend! We ran errands this morning, met some friends for lunch, went to a used book store and bought some books for DD and the baby, as well as a couple classic Disney movies, played some card games and are having a pizza/movie night. I’m looking forward to watching a chick flick by myself after she goes to bed! Tomorrow we’re going swimming with some friends and Monday MH will be back and we are grilling out with my family.

We are camping this weekend!! The weather is not ideal at all, but we’re pretty much camping cheaters w a big ol’ camper fully loaded. Something neither dh nor I ever expected to get into, but w dd’s health needs it means we always have a safe & clean space to come back to, whether we are visiting family or just exploring on our own somewhere. My goal is 4 trips this season, plus using it at home when the construstion gets messy inside.
Today between rain showers we took dd to the beach to look for shells, in her rain coat and rubber boots. She had a blast. Tomorrow will be chilly, I think we’ll explore another beach, or fort or hike a trail full of fairy houses... then monday we head home. Dh will be a hot mess exhausted, we left as soon as he got home from work and he works again tuesday am, but, it’ll be worth it!

@jhjocelyn Oohh we would love to have a camper some day! What kind do you have? We love hiking and being outdoors, but usually just stay in cabins at state parks when we go.
I hope the weather clears up for you!

Hot weekend in Houston. I done a lot of housework then we went out to eat at our favorite Mexican place tonight with DH's friends, then went to Trader Joe's and came home. Max was so angry when we got home that he took her to the park with him and his friend. She had to be bribed with the last of his sno cone so she'd behave in public. Tomorrow, we are going to see new Star Wars and hopefully pick up Polly's crib. Monday will probably be a lazy day for us.
I purchased some maternity leggings from Gap the other day for $15 and they came in today and I'm glad I ordered two pairs. They are the most comfortable clothing ever. When I catch another sale, I'll be buying more.
It really is awesome. Even though we make fun of ourselves for all the luxury of it. We have a 26’ w one slide. The bathroom has it’s own door so you don’t have to track sand all thru the camper when kiddo has to pee, the wider style bunks, a mini tub w shower, oven, full mini freezer, n fridge, and a couch. Which was pretty much my bucket list for camper shopping. We got it at a steal as an older leftover model.
We have our days when we wonder if getting a tractor would have been more beneficial, but we never would vacation as much without it honestly. Now that we spent the $$ we are determined to make use of it!
Also, think long and hard about the vehicles you own and towing capacity... we wound up upgrading vehicles to make hauling it safer, and now are outgrowing that vehicle but are stuck getting somethinf still big enough to haul this beast. *eyeroll*

@jhjocelyn Thanks for sharing! All of those features would be on my list, too. And that is a great point about vehicle towing capacity. I love that you chose a camper over a tractor; those are precious memories you are creating as a family on your camping vacations! Also, if you end up hiking the fairy house trail please share pictures!

Baby boy has been kicking like crazy tonight. Also it’s almost 10pm and I really want mac n cheese. Debating whether I want to stay up to make it (although really I am just too lazy to wash the pot I need to cook it in).
Can I just say how much I love that us ladies are over here talking about trailers, trucks and towing capacity??? <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/y3/8mof41nnstud.gif" alt="">
@businesswife Were you able to avoid getting roped into helping with MILs basement again?
@jhjocelyn That sounds like a nice camper! It makes total sense to have one so you can still travel and go on vacations while minimizing the risks to your DD.
@SkilledSailor for now, the weather here is horribly wet. And I'm not sure, but it sounds like DH might have been going over there to help her take a tree down??? So... not a good day for it. We'll see if they crappy weather holds, maybe we will just get our indoor housework holiday afterall! Lol
Side note, DH gets himself worked up into such a lather over the dog hair. I mentioned on the other thread. So he was just in a horrible mood. He managed to do the thing that he was trying to fix, and now he's sort of calming down with the tv on, but oh dear Lord. I can't wait for our kids to have these tantrums and step back and just say, this is what you created. LOL I can't deal when he's like that. But luckily he tends to get over it pretty quickly, too.
@BusinessWife ha! My husband is the same and yes, I totally point out when our toddler freaks out like his daddy. I just step back, give hubby "the look" and say, "that's yo' kid." Lol, he can't even try to deny it and it usually turns the situation pretty funny.
@BusinessWife my husband is the same too. Unfortunately for me, DS totally took after him. He gets so worked up and just loses his mind. And so, so stubborn. It’s both sad and hilarious to watch DH try to argue with my 2 year old since both of them need to have the last word.
Um so I'm totally the one who verbally stresses out loud and can make a scene when I'm stressed, but both H and I are stubborn haha. DS definitely has some melt downs and can get to a point where he just needs to calm down before the world can move on again. My H has kindly not pointed out that this is a trait he got from me yet lol.
We went crabbing yesterday and are having a crab/crawfish boil at our house this afternoon. I’m struggling because MH invited his friend and GF over with their 2 kids and they drove me INSANE yesterday. I can handle my kids, but I can’t handle no one else’s. -.-
Looks like we are getting somewhere in the spare room! So far two big shelves basically empty and all my clothes and shoes I actually wear consolidated (more or less) onto one shelf.
We still have to get the extra twin bed dealt with so we can move our bed in here, (along with an actual mountain of linens), and phase one will be complete! Muah-ah-ahhh
@SkilledSailor happy anniversary! The nursery is actually getting some progress made! @BusinessWife sounds like you’re making progress too!
I had a ton of clothing to go through. Ended up with four bags for goodwill, and a couple big stacks to save (both DH’s T-shirt’s that have sentimental value *groan* and my pre-preggo clothes that I’ll want again). Ended up getting them into space bags and ultimately one plastic storage bin!! We totally emptied out the hall storage closet, which turns out has a ton of storage space. DH is starting to go through his stuff - the guest room closet was floor to ceiling boxes of his stuff (collectible toys, sentimental family items, electronics, pure garbage that he won’t get rid of, etc) but he’s getting it into bins and we’re getting it into the storage closet out in the patio - which turns out is HUGE. I’m feeling a lot better about the project now that I see hope. Still gotta figure out how to sell/store the futon. Wow, sorry, didn’t realize how long this rant would be. I have a lot of feelings about the situation haha.
Hooray for a successful party! All the kids had a great time, some relatives got to see our house, and the food turned out great. DH's Fitbit had him at over 20,000 steps today! We are lounging and eating ice cream to end the evening
Sounds like everyone is having productive weekends
