Re: Appointments | Week of May 21st

  • Yeah, I do too, @nackie. I actually have a soft alarm that goes normally at 545 to take my pill.  That way by the time I go down around 615 or 630 for my coffee, I should be okay to eat something around 645-730.  I think food is just supposed to be 1 hour, but vitamins rhey told me to wait 4 hours, so nowI take those at lunch.

  • @Lcardinal04 I hope they get all the measurements they need today! I had to go back for round two also and my first tech kept commenting that he wasn't cooperating at all and she couldn't get everything she needed. I was like...well, he's normally sleeping at this time and you're interrupting his sleep! ;)

  • @nackie
I think it depends on which test you're doing. If I had to guess your probably just doing the one hour test. My friend did that and passed just fine and she didn't have to fast either. I had to do the 2 hour one (which I'd recommend not driving after) but I had to fast for that one. It was hard, I got dizzy, neasous, and was feeling faint at the end but I passed it just fine.

@nackie @businesswife Now that I always have to wake up at 4 am to pee (eye rolllll) I have been taking my levoxyl then so I can eat right away when I get up.

@BusinessWife I wasn’t aware that fundal measurements were related to weight gain. I’m also unconvinced that excessive weight gain leads to dangerously large babies. That mw sounds awful:(
  • What makes matters worse @nackie is this isn't even the same one from before.  This is another one coming up with this crap. :/
  • nackienackie member
@BusinessWife oh no! I assumed it was the same one that was making crap up last time. Are you going to complain to your usual MW about them?
  • That was her.  @nackie. There are four of them.  I've seen this one three times, two of the others once, and will be meeting the fourth, newest to the practice at my 28 week apt.  Idk.  I guess I could just ask to be seen by the doctor, but I'll give this other one a chance... the thing is too, whoever is on call when you deliver is who you will have at that point.  So I'm kind of hoping when we are in the throes of it, it won't much matter??? Idk.  It's really bumming me out tho.
  • @BusinessWife I know some weight gain is correlated with how big baby will be but I thought it was mostly genetics? I’m exactly average for how much one should gain by week 17 and our little guy is measuring 1.5 weeks ahead. Not surprised since the smallest newborn in my family was over 8.5lbs! It’s BS for her to try and scare you about that as if you have full control over how big baby gets!

  • @BusinessWife After reading your post I weighed myself too... down 5. No swelling this morning which I suspect I get in the evenings cause i'm on my feet a lot all day.. my appt was also at the end of day too come to think of it. So many factors! Ah well. I feel a little better. With respect to fundal height I know lots of ladies that measured small and gained 50 ish lbs or more so I would say everybody's body is different plain and simple. I gained nearly nothing up until 4.5-5 months when I put on some fairly quickly. I'm gonna try not to think about it and have a good weekend :)

@dexnie now I do the same as you. A couple days a week I weigh naked first thing in the morning. I have found that at the dr it is dependent on what I wear, what time of day I go and what/when I ate last.

@BusinessWife don’t stress yourself over the weight too much. I know, easier said than done when you keep hearing about it from the MWs, but worrying about it won’t do anything but cause you stress which is bad for you and baby.
  • Ah! Hope it went well @starla

@starla you tested on a Sunday? No offices/labs are open on a Sunday around here. Only urgent Care type stuff.

@stothi Yeah there's a blood lab in my town that's open late and on weekends. It's very convenient!
