HOORAY! We got approval at work and have a new fat analyzer ordered!!!! This has been months in the making as we've been researching different analyzers/methodologies for close to 6 months with our owners dragging their feet on the decision. It seemed especially unlikely to happen any time soon since we had to unexpectedly replace our protein analyzer last fall. But we'll be upgrading methodologies and it will be so much more time efficient without losing accuracy or reliability. It's awesome!
I think the extra push was 1. impending maternity leave and since it's just me and the lab chief, so for 3 months she's gonna be on her own and 2. our current analyzer just burnt out the heat plate while the owners were visiting and then it's centrifuge broke a day later. We're currently running our fats by letting the solutions sit for 30+ minutes between each step and boiling them off on an electric pancake griddle under the fume hood It's pretty janky and slooooowwww.
Fun fact, learned yesterday that our current analyzer was "new" in 1980 when the company started I gotta say for how old the damned thing is, it's a beast, but... YAY! New instrumentation to make our lives easier is fantastic! Ooooo and one of the best parts... there will be no more dealing with ethers and alcohol for extraction!
TL;DR we're getting new chem instrumentation at work and I'm hella excited for it!

Forgive me for blowing up the board with posts tonight, guys.
@pink_polkadots Teach me your ways! What cartridges did you use for those? Or do you download the fonts/pictures? I have an old Cricut so I don't know if it can do all the fancy stuff some of the newer ones can do. I would love to learn how to make shirts with it!
@offtoneverland I have the cricut explore air, so I don’t use cartridges with that, just fonts and pictures I save off the internet. I use Pinterest for a lot of my inspiration and just make most of the designs myself in the Cricut design program. I had an older cricut and ended up selling it to get a newer one because of all the better features.
@pink_polkadots Thanks for the info! I think I'll have to request one of the newer Cricuts for my birthday or Christmas. I had no idea they even had design programs! How fancy.
We have a mouse in our house for the first time! We woke up to find droppings in the dog's bowl, then I found them all over DD's play kitchen. I'm going to have to sanitize all of her toys tonight and I'm so grossed out. Ugh!
@mockingjay1 Those HP onesies are the cutest!! @pink_polkadots Your shirts are super cute too! I love making my own Disney shirts! These are ones I made for one of my last trips.

I'm currently sitting at work in an empty room, because our contracted hours are form 8-4 this week, but we had to have everything finished YESTERDAY. Several teachers are playing volleyball in the gym while some are watching Amazon Prime video in their classrooms lol. I'm getting started on my summer professional development, but seriously, why can't they just let us go home?
@troystory17 I think the Cricut is super user friendly! I used a lot of Youtube videos when I first got it to help me learn about the machine and the design program and it made it really easy to use.
@tessiesmom26 I love your shirts! I really like the Flynn rider one!
Apparently I've officially be on TB for a full year. That kinda makes me sad. But I gotta say, if I were still TTGP I'd be SUPER depressed getting that notification. But seeing as I'm not... cool beans?

Feeling A LOT of rumbles in one spot this morning - super low, under the bump on the left side. I wonder what kiddo is doing? lots of kicks or lots of punches?
@tessiesmom26 - those are cute! @troystory17 - I can't speak for cricut, but I love my silhouette. I think which machine you choose just depends on personal preference. @offtoneverland - we had some mice in our garage and one outside our house... they were the smallest most adorable little mice I've ever seen so it broke my heart knowing DH was catching them and killing them but I didn't want them in my house! Yuck!

@MouseMama817 I used to make baby and toddler hair bows and sold on Etsy, and when I got bored with that I considered the vinyl shirts, but holy crap the market there is so saturated with that kind of product it’s be super hard to gain any popularity and make any sales. That’s the problem I had with bows too... so many other people selling them, it was hard to get noticed.
@pink_polkadots That makes sense. I would love to learn how to do that. I always want those adorable T-shirt’s but can’t stand to spend so much money on them!
I'm seriously annoyed... we just announced the sex today, and I already want to gripe at a few people. If one more person mentions how we can try again for a boy, poor outnumbered dad, or ANYTHING about "all the hormones" I'm going to go off. I've even had someone say "Sorry dad..." Like, WTF?
Yes, we're having another girl... and we are thrilled... why can't you just say congratulations?
@josie12367 You have every right to go off on them and you should! People say the stupidest things. People think it's so weird when I say MH wants another girl. I don't get this "boy culture." It's so annoying. I'm sorry you're dealing with it.
At work today, I was waiting for the elevator when our admin assistant blurts out “are you preggers?” I have told only a few close co-workers and have been wearing loose flowy dresses so you can’t really tell in my opinion. I’m also only 16 weeks and FTM so not really even showing! I just looked at her and said yes, she replies “I thought so. You’re about 6 months?” Oh nope, 4, but thank you random co-worker for making me feel huge! People have no chill when it comes to pregnant women.
@MojieJo ouch! Rambunctious kid are hell on us sometimes dsd gave me my 1st concussion when she was about 3 from a headbutt and earlier today she took a flying leap and jumped on me. We've since had a talk about how we need to not do that anymore because of baby.
@firsttimespartanmom aww... Hate it when people open their mouths and insert their foot!
Afm, I am thoroughly exhaustwd. Spent the majority of the day working on my garden. Got the onions, beets, & carrot seeds planted. Planted my tomato plants and put in a row of sunflowers! Still have the 2nd half to finish weeding and get planted but that will likely be a later this weekend/next weekend project. I.am.pooped!

@firsttimespartanmom How does anyone not know by now not to ask a woman if she's pregnant? Seriously! @lurvleybunchococonuts Good for you for getting so much done today! You'll have to keep us updated on how it grows. Hope you get to relax for the rest of the night.
We just set up our new trampoline! We're surprising DD with it when she gets home from day care and I'm so excited to see what she thinks.
@lurvleybunchococonuts thought of you last night when i was looking at the garden. never got around to planting sunflower seeds, but noticed last night that quite a few seedlings sprouted in the area from last year’s flowers. also, super impressed that you’re out gardening yourself. so far this year, my only contribution has been pointing to where i want dh to plant stuff.
my random: dh is totally nesting and i’ve called him out on it a few times. his old office room is becoming the new babies room, and he’s already done taking out a bunch of books, magazines, trinkets, shelves, wall hangings, and furniture, he’s patched holes and moved all the random baby stuff we already have into the room. he’s reorganizing and clearing out old bills and paperwork. he’s getting rid of some old furniture and random clutter throughout the house. he’s knocking stuff off his to-do list that he’s had on there for probably months or years.
@highsteaks okay... I said I did it but MH was there and did a ton of work to help me. He got my fence up while I weeded. Of the 3 rows I dug/hoed 1.5 and he did 1.5, then he did the holes while I followed behind and planted the tomato plants. Oh... He dug the row for the sunflowers too. Also... Not a pretty pic and it was pre-watering but here's the 1/2 we got done. Also I should note that we did not do this all in one go. We took a break/ate lunch partway through.

@firsttimespartanmom it blows my mind that people think it is ok to make these kind of comments. I’m sure you are cute and adorable; don’t listen to her crazy.
I’m mobile so sorry if the pic is huge. When your bestie is having a baby next week and loves Harry Potter as much as you do, you make some last minute onesies! Plus one with his name (which only her, her DH, and I know so it’s blacked out just in case someone that knows me or her sees this).
