@abowls, @mag1cbeli3ver I think the dating estimate can fluctuate because it's the machine that calculates. They technician draws a line across the baby's body and that measurement determines the date. If the technician is off just a tiny bit, it can give a slightly different date, especially with how tiny things are in there.
@maureenmce glad you got good news about baby. I vote yes to taking a week off. Hopefully that reduces some stress and gives your body an chance to relax.
I had my 8 week visit today, first appt with an NP, not my OB. She couldn’t find the heartbeat which made me a nervous, but she did then send me for an ultrasound which I wasn’t expecting to do today.
I totally burst into tears seeing the little heartbeat for the first time. Last pregnancy I was just curious and delighted, but this time it’s been so long hoping to get pregnant that I have all the feels.
Checked my thyroid again today too. Waiting to see where my numbers have bounced to in the past two weeks.
@Katzalia So glad you got to do an ultrasound and see the heartbeat! (Though I'm sorry it was for nerve wracking reasons - but yay, all is well!) And I did decide to take next week off and I can't wait!
@mag1cbeli3ver, it kind of makes me wonder how accurate it is when they use it to determine due date but I guess it doesn't really matter, right? You're going to go when your body decides anyway.
Seriously I think it’s about size/growth. Theyvsay it’s supposed to ne accurate to within half a week. I’m pretty confident about dates and I am 7 weeks 6 days today. At my ultrasound today they gave two different dates (one via abdominal ultrasound, one tv ultrasound) of 8+2 and one of 8+5. I worry that if they use an earlier date, they’ll try to get me to induce because I’m “overdue” even if I’m not.
@Katzalia I think you can argue with them over being induced, if that's how you felt. What is more important is if you need to deliver early. There are different things they do for 29 weeks vs 30 weeks (that's what my doctor said).
@ab_canada that's a good point. I wasn’t thinking about the impact of accurate dates on an earlier delivery. I’ll discuss with my OB at the next visit and see what she has to say.
My appt went well this morning. Baby looks good, but they couldn’t get the measurement for the NT scan, so I’ll just do the blood work. Next appt is in another 4 weeks.
Baby measured right on target 11w5d, and heart beat 166! We could see little feet and arms and when the tech woke it up, it did a little handstand we saw its bladder and brain and everything!
Just had my first "official" ultrasound! (Had one at the ER but they didn't give me any pics). My SO was there with me this time, and I think we were both amazed that this early baby is already looking like a BABY! It's so crazy, especially since it just looked like a blob at the ER. Measuring a day behind what they measured at the ER at 8 weeks 4 days, so EDD changed to Dec 24th! I think seeing the baby and the heartbeat makes it so much more real. SO seems to be coming around, he was even able to laugh and joke about it. I'm starting to get excited!
@scaredunprepared so glad it went well! And that your SO is getting on board! I'm sure it will just continue from here, sometimes I think it's hard for them in the beginning because we are feeling SO. MUCH. STUFF. But they don't see or feel any difference!

@echo-charlietango congrats on getting past your milestone.
