So, I selfishly started this because I am SO PISSED. I had to come into work at the crack of dawn work on some urgent scenes that needed to be strung out (roughly edited) for the show I work on. Already annoyed about this because it was due to poor management by my boss and it means I didn't get to see my daughter at all this morning, but, okay, fine, I made it happen. Anyway, I get to work at 7, work feverishly until 9, only to find out the scene I had been assigned got switched and no one bothered to tell me - not my boss, and not my coworker who sits like, 10 feet from me and was sitting there working the whole time I was.
So now I have to scramble to get ANOTHER scene done, that I could have *had* done if I had only been working on the correct one. It is taking all of my strength (and the knowledge of my bank account balance) not to walk off this job this instant. It has been a stressful, poorly managed shit show from the very beginning. I have 6 weeks left and it seems like an ETERNITY. I interviewed for another job on Friday and if I get it I will be able to leave in 2 weeks instead of 6 and I am PRAYING that I get it, because I do not know how I'm going to deal with this crappy job for another month and a half without going insane.
@maureenmce - Omg. That is super annoying. I really hope you get the job you interviewed for.
I told my sisters this weekend that we are expecting. My narcissistic older sister made it about her, as usual. She is DEVASTATED that I didn't tell her we were going through IVF again and waited over 7 weeks to tell her that I'm pregnant. She made it about how she wishes we were closer and she wants to know every detail, etc. She did add in that she is so excited, etc.. but after she cried about not being told before. Major eye roll. UGH. Family is hard.
@lexidawg, maybe you didn't tell her because it's really none of her business what goes on in your uterus? Geez, and even if you did share in the past (sounds like you did?) that doesn't mean you have to share every time. I'm sorry, I hope she isn't the type to hold that against you.
@maureenmce I'm so sorry, I'd be pissed. I really hope you get that other job and can leave sooner!
@CecilB93 Right? And nope.. I've never shared details while they were happening. *TW* I did share my previous pregnancy that resulted in a loss a little earlier though *END TW*. You would think that would make her understand until why we waited until after hearing the heartbeat more than once.
@maureenmce I hope you get that new job!!! @lexidawg your sister and my mom can get together and talk about how offended they were. My mom brought it up again this morning. I had to shut it down - I wasn’t being mean to her, she doesn’t get that.
@maureenmce fingers crossed that you get that new job! That sounds beyond frustrating. @lexidawg I hope your sister can get over herself soon and actually support you. I also have narcissistic people in my family, it’s hard to have sincere relationships with people you love when they are like that. @texas_t bummer about the hair appointment. Can you get on a list for any cancellations? @Activebaby I’m sorry your mom is still upset about something she did to “spoil” your announcement.
I don’t have anything new to bitch about today, but maybe I’ll come back later this week and complain. Lol
@Activebaby@lexidawg I'm sorry your family sucks. Don't they realize that this is about YOU and not them?!?! @maureenmce fingers crossed for your job interview! Would you be working on another tv show?
Just a dumb BF here: today involves 5 hours of driving for a specialist follow up appointment for my son. Doc came in, did about a minute of assessment, and declared him good to go. I’m glad everything is okay but

@lexidawg sorry about your sister. I am a little worried to tell my sister too. We haven't had the best relationship growing up but we're been better the last 5years. She is pregnant and due with my niece next month. My mom and I are going up there when she is born. My mom knows but I plan on telling my sister while we're up there. I just hope she doesn't proceive it as me " trying to steal her thunder" and have a baby 6m later.
I planed on going to a courthouse 3 hrs away to do research, told my boss my plan and he said I was good to go. So I am staying overnight because some of the documents I requested will not be in until tomorrow. Wouldn’t you know he sends me an email saying I have to come back down here Wednesday or Thursday because he mailed new documents to be recorded in this county to my house three hours away!!
Update: guys, I got the job!!!! I get to leave in 2 weeks instead of 6 AND it came with a pay raise! I am so, so, so thankful! Thanks so much for all the support and well wishes!
Oh and @Jens_Hoes yes, it'll be for another tv show.
Mind if I join in on this bitchfest? I work for a nonprofit, and I absolutely love what I do. I work with a very underserved population of people and my job is as stressful as it is rewarding. This week is "audit week" where we find out if we will get the funding again for next year. On Thursday night, I went to the ER because of some severe bleeding (which, has that happened to anyone else? Because my bleeding is happening frequently, usually a little bit, red blood but Thursday was a lot of blood) and the doctor told me to follow up with my obgyn on Friday. So I texted my boss and told her what was going on and she completely understood, today, I brought in a doctor's note for my absence.. (BTW: EVERYTHING IS FINE WITH BABY... WE HAVE NO IDEA WHY I AM BLEEDING). However, my coworker, called out today and never gives any reason. She always does this. I called out 2 days in a row once and she called out the day I got back. This may not seem like a big deal, but when she doesn't show up to work, I do her duties. I sit at the front desk, and do all of her work. My work does not interfere with hers, meaning, if I call out, she still has to do her duties, nothing of mine. She even told a coworker that she made a scene about her sister in law dying (which... her sister in law actually did pass away...), just so she could get the 3 days PTO for Bereavement leave. My doctors think my bleeding may be due to high blood pressure and stress. I have never had HBP until recently and now it is crunch time with Audit week, and my coworker is MIA... plus stress from bleeding. Ugh. Sorry.
@maureenmce YAAAAYYYYYY!!!! I bet you are so relieved!
As for me, about 20% of my job requires me to be out walking around undeveloped properties (aka fields, woods, etc.) Which is mostly lovely but sometimes terrible. Today was one of the terrible days. Firstly it was like 90 degrees. Secondly and the main terrible thing, at some point during our site visit today I walked through a tick bomb, like the wee tiny ones the size of a poppy seed. I've probably picked 40-50 off of my clothes/skin today and I am STILL finding them
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who needs to vent! You ladies are awesome and family and work is obnoxious.
My vent revolves around my 4 year old son. He’s been potty trained for a while now and we’ve had some battles with constipation but he’s been SO good for the past month and we finally weaned him off the Miralax which I hated giving. And literally today he peed in his pants twice (once at school and once at home) and then at swim lessons he jumps out screaming potty and i rush him to the bathroom only to literally have him pee ALL OVER me while trying to get his suit off. Expecting twins now and hoping to God we get him fully potty trained and resolved I can’t deal with 3 kids peeing all over me!
@maureenmce YAY!!!! Congrats that's so great!!! @brittaniahutto Ugh. I have coworkers like that they always seem to just disappear when things get busy. @lexidawg Oh my gosh hopefully that "offended" behavior subsides and she can actually support you instead of making it about her and what she didn't know.
I have my own bitchfest and it's because of my stupid bank. Back story, I have mine and S/O's truck loan thru my bank. A month ago our truck payment was a little late, so the collections dept spoke with him and he made a payment with them and apparently, without my knowledge or permission, the collections dept decided to enroll my account as an automatic payment source on our loan. S/O always makes the payments from his account, and since my account is with the same bank they seem to have done it because it's in the same system. I checked my bank today to see how much I had left after bills, and BOOM! Zero balance. I was stunned. I called them up and the very nice customer service guy told me what happened, but I was furious. This is the second time/month this has happened. The first time I figured possibly it was a fluke so I let it go. But omg, I was fuming there for a minute and definitely plan on going to the actual branch to make sure it's all set up properly now as those funds in my bank are to cover daycare and other expenses while S/O is out of town and until my next pay day. It seems to have been sorted out, but ugh. How frustrating. Banks!!
@hkom all my sympathies are with you right now. I can’t with ticks/parasites. I feel like I have to shower just reading what happened to you. I hope you don’t get bit.
@tumbleweed-1 I can't with them either. Like I'm kind of used to it because it's a part of my job and I'm an outdoorsy person anyway, but it doesn't really make it any better tbh. I haven't found any really attached yet which is good. But still. Blech.
I'm not sure what's worse really - ticks, mosquitoes, those tiny gnats that fly STRAIGHT INTO you eyeballs, or the huge orb weavers that like to build their webs at exactly face level. Yaayyyy my job.
I had the day off today and I mentioned to my H I was tired he asked sarcastically, “Oh did you have a really intense day?” I was like “uh, no, but I am gestating a human.” He checked himself pretty quick after that reminder.

It’s ticks. Ticks for sure. Mosquitoes only bite you for a minute & then they go away (the bites really itch, but not bad enough to make them as high on the yuck scale as ticks). Gnats in the eye are not fun, especially on a bicycle. The spiders freak me out when I turn around and almost put my face in one, but I just walk around with my arm in front of me & bent up like a shield. It looks silly, but I get spider webs on my arm & not my head! (A stick works too).
@maureenmce congrats!!! I am excited for you. I totally feel your pain although I am on the management side of the job.
I was was just telling H tonight, being pregnant and a mom and working is hard enough. But working in a job with strict deadlines right now is impossible.
I am fighting a never ending battle of deadlines and budget constraints right now that are going to be death of me. Combined with an hour commute each way and MS and exhaustion, I don’t know how much longer I can make it.

@krob Oh no, I'm so sorry you're in a similarly tough situation, but with no early exit. It is TOUGH to be in an intense, deadline driven work environment while pregnant. When I'm done I will have worked 14 hours today and I am so tired I can't even articulate it. Sending you strength and energy. Hang in there.
@PensiveCrayon Ha, neither my current or next show are that interesting, but I'll happily share once we move to Facebook!
@hkom I am so horrified on your behalf! Tick bomb! You poor thing!
@tumbleweed-1 I use the stick method religiously. The arm works on occasion, but with my job by the end of the day I will end up literally covered in spiders, which would be waaayyyyy worse than ticks, even though the weavers are generally harmless.
I think ticks definitely win on the gross factor, but mosquitoes are much more of a nuisance for me. I can usually just ignore ticks and let them crawl around on my jeans until we are done with whatever we're doing. But I just cannot ignore mosquitoes buzzing in my eating and constantly biting me. We live in a semi-urban area, and they just ruin our yard during the summer. Like you literally get swarmed if you don't put on bug repellent and have an outdoor fan going. It's the worst
@hkom Have you considered getting your yard professionally sprayed? We use to use the yard guard stuff you attach to the hose and spray. It works but doesn’t last very long. Now we have a service it way better. (Products are pet and kid safe, we still stay out of the yard 24 hours after application due to my paranoia)
@LLynde5 We wouldn't consider it if it kills all of the other insects. We have a big garden and loads of "good guys" so we just deal with the mosquitoes the best we can with OFF
@krob Ugh, yes! Being pregnant, a mom of a toddler, and having a full time job is EXHAUSTING! When I was pregnant the first time I took naps every day after work for the first trimester. Now I can't. I. Am. So. TIRED!
