Re: Symptoms- week of 5.7

  • Anyone else get shortness of breath or feel like they can't catch their breath? I don't remember this symptom with my first.

  • @rocketmom88 I’ve been having shortness of breath too I wasn’t sure if that was allergies with all the pollen blowing around the past week? Maybe it’s a pregnancy thing, I don’t know. I know I was short of breath sometimes especially in the third trimester last time.
  • @rocketmom88 @katzalia It is easy to get winded! My old PiYo instructor didn’t believe me...so I stopped going entirely. I usually get winded on the stairs, so I intentionally run up said stairs and pretend that I just ran a fast mile...because it feels like it. :grimace:

  • Omg Yes!  And I'm so concerned about the shortness of breath because I kickbox AND my job is active/outdoors so I've been extra cautious. Taking it easy now, especially after talking to my boss today about a modified caseload. I will be only working through the end of June, then in summer when it gets REALLY DRY AND HUMID, i will be stopping because I'm afraid of overheating and being unable to breathe. Better safe than sorry.
  • @echo-charlietango glad to hear it’s more of a pregnancy thing. I totally took the elevator to skip 2 flights of stairs before a meeting the other day because I didn’t want to be winded.

Yes. I ran daily before pregnancy. I’m still trying to be active, but I’m not able to run everyday. I get winded easily. I just have to do a much slower run.
  • ... I kickbox ... when it gets REALLY DRY AND HUMID...
Talk to your Dr about the kickboxing. High impact sports aren’t regarded as safe during pregnancy (generally - I’m sure modifications exist). Also -confusion- because dry and humid are two opposite weather conditions, that’s like saying “when it’s sunny at night” or “when it’s hot at zero degrees Fahrenheit”

  • @echo-charlietango LOL whoops pregnancy brain already! I meant really hot and humid, not dry and humid!  I apologize in advance, because I feel like I will be making these wording mistakes a lot.

My doc didn't seem too concerned about the kickboxing, she said as long as I don't spar and avoid jumping and positions in which I might lose my balance, I should be okay. When I'm feeling short of breath , I just take a breather. And I'm being careful not to overexert myself. She said later on in the pregnancy I may need to make some other modifications. She was much more concerned about my job and the environmental hazards I face everyday.
