I just realized we don’t have a thread yet for May, so thought I would get one started.

Also I wanted to share an upcoming new Ovulation Testing Monitor which one of the people I follow on Instagram posted about this morning. A company is about to launch in China and Europe (no mention of US yet...) a new monitor which goes one step further than “line or no line” and takes away the “is that line darker than the control or darker than yesterday?” questions that plague many of us. They are bringing out a qualitative monitor - ie it will tell you the LH level. So if your baseline or leak levels fall out of “normal” ranges you should still be able to spot “your rise” to see if you had your LH surge. And they’ve also not restricted it like the CBAD, so it can handle longer or shorter cycles than average.
I’ve contacted them for more info and will let you know if I get a reply!

PS I’m not linked to them in any way, just a bit excited as I’ve been searching for a home quantitative kit for more than a year! And if anyone else knows of an existing product which you can use at home to get actual LH levels please do share.

Hi ladies! I’m completely confused by my chart this month and just can’t continue to HIO constantly lol.

This morning was the ninth consecutive day of a high reading on my OPK. The packaging indicates I should stop using it at this point since I will likely not get a peak reading.

For background, I had a 39 day anovulatory cycle in Feb and TW (Loss)

a CP in April.

Should I keep HIO or does this cycle look like a bust?

@TJtheGoat About how long are your cycles on average? Unfortunately it’s impossible to say if you’ll O but I have heard of women getting many high days on the CBAD before getting a peak reading. I would suggest using wondfo OPKs instead because they’re considerably cheaper

@tjthegoat I’ve been having similar issues with the CBAD not being advanced enough to handle when my LH is not super low to start (or not low enough to show as low according to their baseline). And when my high is not quite high enough to show as peak on their scale. But for 6 or 7 of these cycles I also had bloodwork done so I do know when I Od (and that I Od). I have the same problem with all brands of OPK, really getting a start positive is tricky. Hence why I’ve been searching like crazy for a test that will actually tell you your LH level as a number each day.
Not to freak you out, but not low enough LH during FP and then not very high during O my RE said typically points to egg quality issues (unless there is a known hormone issue), so as a first step if you’re not already maybe try adding in CoQ10, vitamin D and a vitamin B complex.

Did you do anything after your an-O cycle to then O the next time?

I had delayed ovulation the cycle after my CP. I think I had about 9-10 days of EWCM as opposed to my 3 days in the cycles prior to the CP. I think it’s pretty common to have a wonky cycle after any loss, unfortunately. Can you guys switch to HIO EOD? ED is seriously exhausting.

I only have the three cycles so far. I was on birth control for 17-18 years, so I think it’s probably just my body adjusting. The time I did ovulate was on CD14, so I guess about 28ish days. I will probably just keep EOD and monitor CM and temp and see what happens. If my temps stay crazy, I’ll start adding more supplements.

Not a question, but I wanted to say thank you to everyone who suggested magnesium supplements (last week? the week before?) to help with sleep. I did a little bit of Googling on it, too, before I decided to try it and figure out my dose. I've been taking 250 mg around 8:30 pm and I've been sleeping better than I was with the advil pm or the zzzquil! It still takes me a minute (and reading boring material) to fall asleep, but I think it's a success!

@suzycupcake it may not help stay awake per se. But I have noticed I can fall back to sleep easier when I've taken it.

@prpl11butterfly I notice that too! Instead of tossing and turning for an hour when I wake up in the middle of the night, I roll over and am able to go right back to sleep.

@suzycupcake I will echo what @prpl11butterfly and @Lulu1180 said in that when I do wake up MOTN, it helps me get back to sleep more easily than when I don't take anything. Unless I wake up after 5 am... then it's the same tossing and turning as usual.

My husband, and it didn't used to be like this, will wake up before 7 tossing and turning. He goes through cycles of having issues falling asleep but the before 7am stuff always happens. I haven't woken up next to him in about 4 years because he goes into the living room to get rid of the feelings of tossing and turning. I'm not sure what is causing that but he also has had issues with migraines and has a tourettes (no verbal tics) for many many years since before we met. I wonder if it's related. I'm gonna get some magnesium and see if it helps him. I've also thought about growing feverfew flowers to help treat his migraines. He has tried mj and doesn't like the way it makes him feel.

@suzycupcake magnesium can help with migraines as well. It doesn't help mine, but I know others that it has.

@suzycupcake I get migraines a lot. magnesium can definitely help with migraines. Also melatonin when taken at night can sometimes help too but it takes awhile to build up in the system.
