1. How far along and age of other kids? 10 weeks. 4 next week and 2 in 2 months. 2. How are LOs and milestones? almost 4 year old likes to say the word booty - someone else mentioned saying the word butt. This is fun. But seriously this is a really fun age. Almost 2 year old- thought he was sick this week (felt warm, had mucus, sleeping issues) but today he seems fine. I think the 2 year old molars are starting...maybe? He’s a lot of fun too but always putting himself in danger or making messes. 3.RRQ - I am counting down until lunch time. I’m hungry. Hopefully I’ll want to eat. 4. Birth experience wishes: my first two births were really good - except the bad tearing with the 1st and the bp drop with the epidural with the second. But heathly babies with vaginal births so I’m happy. I’m thinking maybe no epidural this time (had one with ds1 &2). Also I got to labor at home and only was at the hospital 4 hours before giving birth to both. So as I said- overall happy experiences (except the tearing...that was not good - 3 tears in different directions).
I am so glad to hear feedback from others debating a VBAC or c-section. Part of me still feels like I failed at having the birth I wanted and wants to try again, but the other part of me loves the predictability of a c and does not want to spend 40 hours in labor or 5 days in the hospital again.
1. How far along are you? What are the ages of your other kiddos? 10w5d. My son is almost 17 months
2.How is your LO (or Los) this week? Any new milestones or fun moments? He’s being the biggest sweetie this week! His vocabulary has taken off the last week and he’s trying to say about anything we do. His current favorite word is “hellooo” or “ello” and it sounds a little British. Also, instead of running away crying when I pick him up from daycare he has been running to the truck and crying to get in and go home with me.
3.Any questions, rants or raves? In thinking of the future, I'm not sure how to handle the monitor with two. We use angelcare and love the piece of mind that comes with the motion sensor. That being said, we cannot have two cameras attached. When did you stop having a monitor on your kids? I'm not sure how I feel about carrying around two different monitors. DS will be ~2 when baby comes.
4.GTKY – Some things are beyond our control, but if you could choose, how would you like your birth experience to be different this time around? I feel almost identical to @maureenmce. I would go into labor without being induced, have a quick labor, and possibly no epidural. I’m not getting my hopes real high for this.
@temmetime Are you planning on having newborn sleep in their own room immediately? If they are in your room, you won't need a monitor immediately! And maybe by the time you transition LO to their own room, your older son will be ok without one?
@gorgeousariel I did the sneak peek last week!!! It's pretty tedious and it kinda freaked me out doing the needle stick, but it was over pretty quick. I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to blood so I had to put my head between my legs so I didn't pass out
@texas_t we are planning to put the newborn in their own crib right away as it worked well with DS. When we switch him to his own room I'm sure he would be fine without one, it's just mom and dad who aren't.
@texas_t thank you!! We will have to decide to either go that route, always hold two monitors if we want to keep the motion sensor from the angelcare, or have DS without a monitor. I'm keeping that link for future reference!
@temmetime I've been wondering the same thing about the monitors too! DS will be 2.5 when the new baby comes, but I can't see us not using a monitor for a long time. I have no trust with this kid
1. How far along are you? What are the ages of your other kiddos? I'm 8w4d; DS will be 2 next month (which makes me want to cry...I feel like I was just pregnant with him)
2. How is your LO (or LOs) this week? Any new milestones or fun moments? He is just a fun kid all around. We've been practicing numbers, and I swear I've heard him count to six! He will just be running around the yard and will randomly start counting without our help! I'll never get over how quick they pick up on new things they've learned.
3. Any questions, rants or raves? UGH. I'm just so annoyed at work right now. A couple of weeks ago, a few of us were out at a conference, so we missed Administrative Professionals day. Well a couple of days ago, two of the women that work here decided that we (the 5 supervisors) would hold a luncheon for those that work under us to make up for the fact that we missed it, which isn't really a big deal, but instead of making food like we usually do when they want to have a luncheon, they decided they were going to order food from some catering place. They literally agreed to pay 100 FREAKING DOLLARS for some roast beef and mashed potatoes to feed about 12 people. And on top of that, we still have to bring stuff like salads and desserts. I could have made that crap for like $25. From this moment forward, I've decided I can't trust their judgment about anything else in life. Oh, and it better not be some instant mashed potatoes or I'll probably lose my shit. The pregnancy hormones are raging right now, yall.
4. GTKY - Some things are beyond our control, but if you could choose, how would you like your birth experience to be different this time around? For my first, I had a planned c section, and looking back, I'm glad it turned out that way. I was planning on having a regular delivery, but I made my peace with the need for a c section. In general, i have a debilitating fear of needles (I have some fun stories but that's for another day), so having time to prepare myself mentally for the epidural and being able to do small things before delivery like shower and do my hair and makeup, just made the experience less stressful than i anticipated. I dont think i would change anything.
Honestly, we never used a monitor; I never really understood the need. If she wakes up and needs me (or just never goes to sleep and wants me to come back), she'll cry or make noise, and our house isn't so big that we can't hear her. If she wakes up and wants to play solo, more power to her; the room is babyproofed. And if she gets out of bed and gets into trouble, well... it's not like I'd be staring at the monitor the entire time anyway, so the chances I'm going to prevent her from poopsmearing are pretty slim. If I'm worried, I can always just check on her.
I sleep with earplugs, so I used a monitor so I could hear him and not my husband snoring, lol. We stop when we transitioned him to a big boy bed at 2.5. Now, he just comes to our room.
I am probably in the minority, but I heard some creepy stories about crazies hacking video monitors, so we just used an old school sound only one and had no problems.
@katy0990 those stories go hand in hand with the wifi video montiors as opposed to the regular video ones. The second anything hooks up to your wifi any hacker who can get access to your wifi can get access to your video monitor. The regular video any creep would never be able to see your child. And if they wanted to "talk" to your child it would be just as easy with a regular sound monitor. That happens when waves get crossed. Remember years ago if you were on a cordless phone occasionally you would pick up someone else's phone call?! voice monitors are like that so no different then video ones. Now-a-days the likely hood is super slim since they make the technology on wave that is harder to cross. The exception is the wifi monitors.
1. How far along are you? What are the ages of your other kiddos? 7 weeks. My other kiddos are 7, 3 and 18 months.
2. How is your LO (or LOs) this week? Any new milestones or fun moments? My 18 month old likes to get up on the coffee table and stomp his foot when he's mad. I try really hard not to encourage him as I know this could into a problem...but he is the cutest little tyrant ever:).
3. Any questions, rants or raves? I called my doctor's office to schedule my first apt, which is a nurse visit, had to be transferred to the nurse line and leave a message. They called and I missed them. When I returned the call, everyone at the hospital had no idea what I was talking about, transferred me around to a million depts. and still never got me to the right place. It's a silly apt anyway...they just make sure you're not doing drugs and are taking prenatal vitamins. There should be a bypass if you've had multiple kids in the same hospital! Anyway, I'll try again next week:).
4. GTKY - Some things are beyond our control, but if you could choose, how would you like your birth experience to be different this time around? The last time I gave birth in our hospitals small birthing center (4 moms total are allowed), my poor midwife delivered another baby 7 minutes after mine and had to call the back-up OB to finish up with me after I delivered. He had a very poor bedside manner and was NOT gentle. I checked the hospital website and they hired a second midwife and the OB retired, so I think problem solved:).
@kristah2 I know it’s prefty unlikely. The thought of someone watching him sleep just freaked me out, so the sound only was a better option for us. I do remember being able to pick up neighbors’ conversations on my sister’s monitor as a child.
@PensiveCrayon if you hook your monitor up to wifi, then yes. Unfortunately, someone in my BMB had someone hack into hers. When she noticed, the camera was facing the chair in the nursery that she nurses in as opposed to his crib. Super gross.
I’ll be 10 weeks tomorrow my daughter is 2.5 years old. We have swim class tonight and its the first night I havent got in with her, because I’m not feeling real well.
My rant is I still havent been to the OBGYN yet and its driving me nuts!
Question are any other moms starting to show. I took this picture today at 9w6d.
1. How far along are you? What are the ages of your other kiddos?
Almost 7 weeks. My kid is 18mo.
2. How is your LO (or LOs) this week? Any new milestones or fun moments?
He said his longest sentence yet the other day, “Reggie [is] in the other room.” (Reggie is our cat). I was pretty impressed.
3. Any questions, rants or raves?
eh
4. GTKY - Some things are beyond our control, but if you could choose, how would you like your birth experience to be different this time around?
I don’t want my postpartum anxiety to be overlooked. I’m going to discuss it at my first appointment, because it was bad and downright dangerous last time and I’m not repeating it. I need to have a plan in advance for both meds and therapy.
1. How far along are you? What are the ages of your other kiddos?
7 weeks 4 days, I have one DD who is a little over 2 and a half.
2. How is your LO (or LOs) this week? Any new milestones or fun moments?
shes such a sweetie! So much energy! Lol she is hard to keep up with during this first trimester exhaustion. My parent are in town right now visiting and she is so happy about it!
3. Any questions, rants or raves?
this pregnancy is so different than my first! I barely have any nausea and when I do, it goes away within an hour. With DD I was always sick!! Is anyone else experiencing a different pregnancy this time around?
4. GTKY - Some things are beyond our control, but if you could choose, how would you like your birth experience to be different this time around?
i would like to have pretty much the same experience but maybe not labor for so long this time around (over 24 hours)
@sushilove15 this pregnancy is completely different. With my son the nausea started at about 5 weeks and I threw up every day, multiple times a day until about 13 weeks. This time around I've dry heaved once and I don't have any food aversions or actual nausea. It's so weird.

@coco2787 isn’t it nice?! That’s the same with me! I feel bloated and tired and that’s about it. The 24/7 nausea with my first was beyond miserable. My mom thinks it’s a boy this time bc of the difference lol. I’m glad you aren’t feeling bad this time around either!
Ha @sushilove15 every one is telling me my lack of symptoms means it’s a girl
