Lots of movement and DS is low and only on my right side just like DD carried. This is causing lots of pressure on that hip and my sciatica. Been stretching and sleeping with a pillow placed between my knees. This weeks beyond perfect weather has brought out the worst in my allergies. I broke down and got approved meds, I didn’t take anything aside from Tums and Tylenol with DD!
Holy gas pains! I don’t remember getting gas pain when I was pregnant with my son but oh.my.god! I feel like 50% of the things I eat give me it so bad that I literally stop mid conversation to make it through them. This little girl has just made me a my stomach a delicate flower
Braxton Hicks? Are we doing this already? I'm 19 weeks now. My whole abdomen will get super tight like I'm doing a sit up and it hurts. Not real bad, but it hurts. If I sit down it'll immediately relax and become a soft mushy tummy again. Sometimes it stays soft when I stand back up and sometimes, like tonight, it tightens back up as soon as I stand up again. Does this sound weird? Or normal?
@stothi It’s definitely possible, especially for STM’s+. I had legitimate painful contractions during my 19th week that landed me in L&D triage. The nurses were not impressed (in a good way). They said the uterus has a super memory of how to contract and can get irritable easily (in my case, bad back strain led to a very cranky Ute).
I've been having round ligament pain most of this pregnancy (well I assume thats what it is). But this week (19) its beem bad. Any ideas on helping it besides Tylenol? (And sorry for rejoining late. I got a promotion at 8 weeks and feel like I havent had a moment to myself since!)
@stothi yes that sounds about right for BH. I had some uneventful ones, but I had 2 sessions of quite painful BH that lasted for hours-turned out I was dehydrated. Changing positions and lots of water helped me when it happened.
@stothi Yes I was planning to post about this! I’ve been noticing them the last week (21 weeks). I was really active the last two days packing up my office and packing for our vacation, which led to some uncomfortable ones in the evenings. Resting and lots of water have helped.

Thanks ladies! I took a warm bath and slammed water and Gatorade (and an entire chocolate bar cause chocolate has magnesium right? And magnesium is good for cramps so science says I needed it) and all was well. I've been pretty active and it's getting hot here. I guess I wasn't drinking as much water as I thought I was or I need to drink even more to adjust for the heat. I had my husband come feel my stomach when I was standing up and it was rock hard and then come feel it when I sat down and it went squishy. I was not about to pass up an opportunity to have him check out a situation that presented in a way he could understand from the outside. Basically when I say I need to relax cause I'm over doing it please notice that this happens and that I'm not kidding when I say I NEED to relax and you need to take over with your kiddo. He was suitably impressed by the crazy difference between standing rock hard belly and sitting squishy belly that it hopefully made a lasting impression.
Had my 20-week ultrasound today. All is good with the baby, but my issues continue (already AMA and HBP controlled by meds), but now add partial placenta previa to the mix. It's definitely possible it will move...it's just making me nervous with what feels like three strikes. Anyone else with this diagnosis past 20 weeks? Thoughts? Advice?
@ferris0906@adirat and I are in the same boat with the concerning low partial previa. My doctor said not to worry -it’s likely to move up. I’m getting checked again at 28 weeks for this. Until then, I’m just hoping for upward movement and thankful that the baby is healthy! Hopeful for you too!
@ferris0906 I'm also previa and high risk for accreta-as it was firmly over entire c section scar. Crossing fingers for all of us that they move far up and away!

Oh, and I have a rave for the day, because I'm excited to post something positive! Lovely husband took dog to vet today to redo the splint (5 times now) so I could visit my old barn with my son, say hi to some people and pet some ponies.
I also got shrimp Alfredo and cake for dinner, because it was my birthday on Thursday in the middle of this chaotic week, and a short nap this afternoon, so I'm finally feeling...OK and calm ish. YAY!
Pony picture and my awesome son eating our wonderful dinner in spoiler (crossing fingers it's working for me again).

@pourmeamocktail glad you had a good day! You definitely deserved one after the chaos you have experienced this week. Your son looks adorable with the horses!
I've been feeling great this second trimester so far but all the sudden yesterday and today I'm having all these damn Braxton Hicks and my hips feel like hell! They really hurt. I'm so sad cause I was loving being pregnant AND feeling good at the same time for once. I'm having a really hard time falling asleep tonight cause my stupid hips hurt so bad. And I have a headache. I'm pretty pathetic tonight.
@stothi I've been having hip pain as well. I try to do some hip stretches before bed and when they really hurt I sit/lay on a heating pad for a bit while settling down. I've also noticed they hurt worst when I get over 7k steps so walking is not my exercise of choice.
@stothi Stretching, especially Prenatal yoga help a ton. If you have a foam roller (or even just a rolling pin), you could also roll out your hips, low back, and IT band. It hurts so good.

@stothi I second @Starla’s suggestion of prenatal yoga. My local class really focuses on hip openers so that your hips don’t get tight and sore. It’s amazing!
@franklynns I definitely get dizzy these days, but mostly when I don't keep up with my water intake. Also have to remind myself to not get up so quick from a seated position!
Leg cramps anyone? Had my first the other night and i woke up in so much pain. I writhed and moaned till it was over. Like a Charlie horses times ten
Last pregnancy I would get bad foot/leg cramps in the evenings and at night. Drinking a Gatorade a day helped a ton, I guess just water wasn't cutting it
I've had a fun 24 hours where I overdid it. So I'm dealing with BH contractions and I think picked up some bug on top of that. So, I'm staying hydrated and laying on the couch, which is helping.
However, my mom volunteered my sister to come over to watch DD so I can actually relax... but now I've got 3 teenagers in my house (one I only met today), my nephew, and DD. So, you know... actual relaxing is totally happening.
I received a hand me down carseats with two bases. One base expires in March 2019 and the other sometime in 2020. What is the protocol for using the base after the expiration date. Also the expiration date for the carseat is not on the actual seat so how will I know when that expires?
I believe the protocol is recycle the base when it expires, not to keep using it.
It’s also recommended not to use second hand car seats unless you know their full history. If the straps have been cleaned wrong they could have lost the give they need to protect baby, same goes for if it has been in any sort of accident.

Definitely don't use the base after it expires. If you can't find an expiration date for the carseat I wouldn't use it at all.
If at all possible you shouldn't use a second hand carseat since it's a safety device. All new carseats meet current safety standards, so even the cheapest on sale carseat at Walmart or wherever will be safe. You don't have to go with any particular brand. If at all possible I would really encourage that the carseat be the number one thing that you budget for to purchase new.
Crib mattresses are the other big thing that should be purchased new if possible.
Cribs can be ok second hand if you can check them over and make sure they meet current safety standards.
Clothes, toys, changing table, baby swings/rockers, strollers, ect are all fine as hand me downs but because it's a major safety issue it's really best to get a new carseat if you can.
Eta: we'll be reusing our carseat from son number one with son number 2, but it's nowhere near expired and it's been under our control at all times so we know exactly where it's been and what it has or hasn't been through.
@iceicebaby921, I also received a hand-me down carseat. I went back and forth about accepting it, but ultimately decided to take it because it was from my best friend who I trust to tell me if it's been in an accident. This carseat had a manufactured date but not expiration date. I went on the carseat's website and was able to find out that all their carseats expired 6 years after the manufacture date, which meant the carseat I have has not expired. I didn't think to check the bases, but will check those as well and make sure they are not expired.
@stothi I think What I’m feeling must be BH. I was so concerned I called my doctor (as usual, the office was useless, but I have an appt this week). It’s not painful per say but very uncomfortable and alarming - I’m a FTM so I don’t know what contractions feel like, but it certainly seems like it to me.
I have THE WORST back pain. I feel awful complaining since I’ve had an easy (knock on wood) pregnancy so far but my middle/upper back is burning by like 3pm. It’s so bad that even if I could sleep, it would keep me up haha. I assume it’s from all my new belly weight but ugh it’s so bad.
@ashh2018 I completely understand why you called your Drs office. As a FTM too I have been wondering all weekend how you know when they are just BH. I’m not having any yet, but am sure I will start to at some point. I guess all we can do is call the Dr and let them tell us for sure.
@klj0228 It got worse before it got better. The teenagers abandoned ship and left me with two small children instead of just one. But, luckily, DH came back from basketball and helped. Nephew got picked up by his mom. DH and DD went to my mom's and helped her with cabinets, so I got a few hours alone to just lay on the couch.
@ashh2018 and @klj0228 the biggest difference between bh and labor contractions (as I understand it) is that bh are irregular, usually not painful (certainly very uncomfortable but sometimes not even uncomfortable, just tight) they don't build up and you can stop them by changing things up, like by sitting or laying down, drinking water, taking a bath, ect. Contractions are painful and get more so as they go on, they occur in a regular pattern and build up, so 30 seconds long every 10 minutes, then every 5 minutes, then a minute long every 3 minutes, and they don't care what you do they keep going, so sitting down or taking a bath doesn't change the frequency or intensity.
You'll have to ask your doc cause I don't remember but last time I was told or given a paper or something that the doc still wants to hear from you even if it's just bh if you have more than x number of contractions in a set time period. I really don't remember what it was so I don't want to guess and say a thing and have it be wrong. It's a higher number though not just 2 or 3.
@stothi I believe it’s 5-6 contractions in one hour, at least that’s what it was for me. andplusalso-for myself, not all contractions are painful. My whole last pregnancy (and this one as well) contractions were not painful and I thought I was having BH. With my 2 labors,y contractions were not painful until my water broke.
@megnwingate true about not all contractions are painful. I think in a very wide generic sense contractions tend to be more on the painful side and BH tend to be not painful, but I've had BH that hurt and contractions that didn't so... Yeah. Sometimes it's real hard to describe pregnancy stuff cause it's not always strictly black and white!
Thanks @stothi@megnwingate pretty much clear as mud. Really the information you provided is helpful and I will make sure to ask about it at my next appointment in a few weeks.
I’m having a constant pain the lower right side of my stomach. I don’t want to be a crazy person by calling the Dr, but it’s been going on for a few hours so I think I may go ahead and call.
