I'm the type of person who over-analyzes everything and has to talk something out/through in order to figure out how to move forward. I learned it about myself when I became a people manager, told DH and he would help me talk through stuff. So I've been talking to him a LOT lately about my daycare struggles and I know he's only paying attention half the time. I just try to remind myself that sometimes even talking aloud helps me (even if he's not listening) and that when I'm ready to present my final thoughts/choices to him he will absolutely pay attention.
It actually went the same way with wedding planning now that I think of it - he asked me not to make him tour or look at a million places, but if I narrowed it down to my top 2-3 that he would go with and give input.
Guys! My 2 and a half year old had her first playground spat today with a little boy her age, over a swing
She ran straight towards it, I came walking up behind her, but the little boy came over and wanted to get in... he pushed her away, she pushed back, then he pushed the swing into her face and she started crying. I don't know if it's pregnancy hormones or what, but I felt my eyes starting to well up. I just hate the thought that soon she will be in pre school and I can't be there. I know it's part of growing up, independence, etc. But it still tears me up inside.
It's finally beautiful out here!! DD and I are eating an entire cantelope together and DS is loving the sandbox and the extra wet sand we made for their new beach toys. I should have planned to go to the lake today but I didn't think of it soon enough, and we had gymnastics this morning.
At Target I got DS new hiking sandals and myself a new bra that actually fits. It's a good day!
@Sarafuss so mang hugs!! that is just so not okay or helpful in anyway.
@runsomewhere love thise curtains you can find lots of great tealish blue items and wall decor or make your own using the colors in the room. Home goods and hobby lobby have lots of great items by color
My toddler had a complete melt down because I checked the mail rather than getting him his lollipop (for using the potty while we were out) right away and then had another melt down because I took his shoes and socks off. Apparently I was only granted permission to take his shoes off. So something is in the air for toddler issues!
DS started punching out of no where. He is 2.5 yrs old so not quite as old as some others. But DH corrected the behavior by having him punch a pillow when he got mad. He read somewhere that instead of trying to stop the aggression, it might be better to give an outlet. Who knows if will still work when he is older but it helps now.
Also, I do things on my own because DH usually gives me the “whatever you decide.” I can see how hospital tours might be a little lonely, but in hindset, I wish I left DH home for some of the classes I took during my first pregnancy. It was not worth the frustration! I only require DH to go to the first ultrasound and the birth now. Anyway, just wanted to let you know it is not unusual to do things in your own. Sorry it bums you out @zande2016
I’ve discovered that if I sweep all of DS’s toys into a pile he’ll pick them all up without a fuss because he thinks I’m going to throw them away . If that’s not a mom hack I don’t know what is.
I finally get to home! They just put my discharge orders in so I’m hopefully on my way home in an hour or so!
@zande2016 that’s cool about the choice to have a doula but I would side-eye that tongue/lip tie comment. Good for you for speaking up! DS has an upper lip tie that didn’t affect breastfeeding so we didn’t get it clipped but now it has affected how his front teeth are coming in and I wish we would have gotten it taken care of as a newborn. Now we have to deal with it as a toddler
@acunamatada I threaten to throw toys away all the time. It works wonders. Especially because I have no problems throwing toys away because I hate clutter. So they believe me when I say I’ll do it. Of course, I don’t threaten to throw expensive stuff away just in case they call me on it lol.

We've lived in our house for 6 and a half years, and since we've moved in we've met president of HOA at the time we moved in, the neighbors immediately to the right of us, and the neighbor directly across the street. Never met anyone else, and everyone really keeps to themselves around here, no neighborhood gatherings or anything other than HOA meetings which I think only the board members go to. So pretty much no one. In the last two days, we've met what seems like all the neighbors within what seems like a 3 block radius of us thanks to little league fundraising, misdirected mail, wrongly delivered Amazon packages, and 2 lost dogs. Clearly the universe thinks we should get to know everyone around us. I find it amusing.
gingerbride26 there
is always a catch! Yeah my company doesn’t
even give 2 weeks until you’ve been there for an entire year. So the last time I took a vacation was in Jan
2016 (my honeymoon) and because I will use the two weeks towards maternity
leave, I wont be able to take an actual vacation until May 2019 L unless I get another job that gives me an
automatic 2 weeks off the bat…which I thought was pretty standard, but I guess
not.
runsomewhere I like
the curtains- have you checked out hobby lobby? They have so much cute wall décor
that you can use as a combo baby/guest room.
Maybe do a cute mirror to make the space look a bit larger?
zande2016 I am
so sorry this happened to you. You’re definitely
not alone. DH and I have been in the same boat recently
and I’ve been chalking it up to him being nervous but it’s no excuse to act
like that. We both work and then I take
care of the house, carry the baby, get things ready for the baby, take on the
responsibilities of soon having a baby etc- so I feel you girl. Also, I notice when I get upset the baby
stops moving which freaks me out. She
can definitely sense when something is wrong.
Husbands need to be stepping up right now before we knock their asses out!
cseley321 +1 for
getting jealous of those over involved husbands, however I take it with a grain
of salt. Most of where I see it is on
social media and I have a feeling a lot of people over exaggerate their “perfect
happy life”
Our next issue is trying to find a pediatrician. Like how do you even chose?! Do you meet with
them and ask questions like an interview? Or just pick one? Obviously DH wants
to help but neither of us know where to start.
@babygagnon2018 sorry your husband isn't stepping up, I think it's just so hard to get them to realize what it's like and how much we need their help/support. This is our second pregnancy and my husband still needs reminders....lots of reminders...
Re pediatrician....do you know anyone you can ask for recommendations? If not, are you on Facebook? See if your town/county/area has a local parent/mom group to join, and ask for recommendations in there. Then when you have a few choices, schedule meet and greets. That's what most pediatricians around me do, and they're usually free. Then you can learn all about them and their practice, ask any questions you have, and decide from that. We only met with one pediatrician because we immediately loved him/his practice.
@babygagnon2018 to be honest we just ask my OB for recommendations on pediatricians. We didn’t interview and actually just meet him in the hospital. When we moved we asked him for recommendations and so far it’s been good with her. Luckily she’s also part of the hospital I’ll be delivering.
@babygagnon2018 we started with the closest practice to our house and wound up loving my sons ped after a meet and greet. It was also the same practice I went to as a kid, and my youngest sister still goes there to a different doctor. Think about what kind of doctor you want for your LO and even what kind of support they could give you when you’re formulating your questions.
We asked our OB for recommendations and it turned out that my primary care doctor is also certified in pediatrics! So, he's my doc too. And I'm pretty sure he will be for DS when he comes, but I forgot to ask to make sure that he would accept him. When DD was born the only new pediatric patients he was accepting were children of existing patients.
@babygagnon2018 I agree with the other ladies as far as asking friends or in a local FB Mom's group. We switched pediatricians for this baby mostly for insurance reasons but one thing that really bothered me about them was how they approached breastfeeding. They have LC on staff and seem to be very supportive of breastfeeding on paper but they weren't very knowledgeable about it (IMO) when it came down to those first few months of well baby visits especially. They would always ask how many ounces of breastmilk my EBF was getting. I was like ummm, I don't know? I feed him/her x times a day and on demand. And they would be trying to figure out a number of ounces to write down. It was always stressful. All of that to say, I prefer asking other moms their experiences with certain pediatricians because that tells me more about how my appointments are going to than actually meeting with the pediatrician.

@wildtot haha I love it! Seriously, I feed my baby all day long and you want me to estimate ounces I can't see? If baby is gaining weight well, leave it at that!

Yeah that's a ridiculous thing for them to ask @Sarafuss. I guess it's one thing if you're exclusively pumping or giving formula, but even then why can't they just go off the growth curve for weight? To ask that when the baby is eating straight from the tap is just dumb. Pretty sure mine always just looked at his weight gain, I don't remember them ever asking me about ounces. They may have asked how many times a day he was nursing, not sure though.
@zande2016 it was so frustrating. They just approached BFing the same as formula feeding (number of ounces and feeding every 3-4 hours). And it was stressing me out as a first time BFing mom (it was my second baby but my first was formula fed). Because my baby wanted to eat more than every 3 hours so I thought that meant she was hungry and I wasn't producing enough. But that's just how BF babies eat especially when cluster feeding. I would have had a much less stressful experience with a pedi who was knowledgeable about BFing. I knew better with my last baby but I'm glad I won't be dealing with them with this new baby.

My insurance has this special pregnancy program that will have a registered nurse call you every so often to track your pregnancy and provide insurance information. At the end you get some money. Pretty cool right! Well i just got off the phone with her and one of the questions was how much I’ve gained and as if last week it was 27 lbs (still on the high end) she goes on to say “oh well you’re still under that 30 mark, good!” I’m thinking um lady i have at least 9 more weeks to go and i will for sure pass that mark. Just let me be!
Thanks everyone! My OB gave me a list but theres
like 6 different practices and 5-6 doctors at each one- I guess better to have
more choices then not enough? I’m from
CT and we now live in NH so the doc I used to go to isn’t an option and obviously
cant ask my friends down there bc that would be a hell of a commute for a sick
kid haha. Our friends up here are pretty
spread out amongst the state and I’d really like a pediatrician that is
close. I like the local moms facebook
group idea, Ill have to do that and then maybe do a meet and greet with a few
wildtot is
that through Cigna? When we called last year (2017) when we first got pregnant
they told us there was a monetary incentive and now when I went to go sign up
not only is there no longer a monetary incentive for 2018 but they don’t reimburse
for baby classes anymore!
@babygagnon2018 yes it’s Cigna. I can’t remember when i signed up but i think it was literally like my last week of first tri or within days of second tri (think towards the end of the year). The further along you are the less of an insensitive you get, if your trying to sign up now that could be a reason. I still see it as a valid program in my account. I didn’t know anything about classes though. I was part of the program with DS two years ago too.
so red velvet oreos....not so bad! (SORRY to the GD ladies!! but you can throw some in the hospital bag) I txted DH that I would shank someone for a cupcake and frosting...these were the closest I could get
it's 80 deg IN my house...i'm working from home with no AC just open windows with little breeze and a ceiling fan...i'm sticky, cranky, feeling huge, and my staff are being stupid...can i just call in pregnant and call it a day? (sarcasm)
DH is home taking a vacation day which he says he is going to do every single week and usually ends up working from home or disappearing downstairs. We have a vet appt today for two of our four dogs. I ask him if he will watch DS, since he's technically off, and he's like, "I guess I can watch him." Usually I would be like, oh, I guess I'll take him, but recently I've been doing a better job at just being like, "yep, you can!" He always acts like its the end of the world to parent alone but the more he does it the less of a pain in the ass he'll be about it (I hope).
@gingerbride26 80 degrees!?!? Oh my goodness I don’t think I could handle that. I think you have every right to call in pregnant today.
@SmashJam good for you for standing your ground on that! He’s not one of those men who says he’s “babysitting” his own child is he? That always drives me nuts.
I had my GD test today and the drink really wasn’t bad. I was expecting something super gross based on what people had told me.
I also go to to see my baby boys face today and it’s the sweetest little picture. My husband keeps texting me about it so I know he keeps staring at it. The last one said “I love baby boy” and it made my heart melt
I passed my 2 hour glucose today! I was feeling stressed about it, so I’m glad it’s in the past now.
@gingerbride26 ugh! That was our house yesterday. My Dh was so unhappy about coming home to a hot house after working in the heat all day, but the AC was not excited about having to cool off a house that warm. Luckily it’s always really breezy at our house so having the windows open helped!
@wildtot I read that as the nurse lady saying your weight gain was good so far! If you pass it, so what?! I think it’s ridiculous to say that ALL WOMEN should only gain x number of lbs during pregnancy. Every body is so different!
@SmashJam good for you! I signed my H up to take my DD to work with him this morning so I could go take my glucose test. I think it’s good for guys to spend more one on one time with their kids. Then it feels more natural and less like “babysitting”
@ashbub714 and @hillbillywife - it is currently 90 outside in CT in May...wtf... the rest of the house feels cooler but the bedroom is the most comfortable place to work so here i puddle. Already told him we're going out to dinner. The central air died last year and he still hasn't bothered to call someone and he has a weird rule about AC before june.... the window unit is still sitting on my floor from last year and I'm fairly sure I'll make him put it in tonight because pregnancy and heat jokes are no lie.
@SmashJam I have been working on the same thing with DH. I think I make things too easy on him woh childcare. So good for you!
I am a little bummed at work today. We are growing quickly and I am watching opportunities go to others but pass by me. I was offered a few awhile ago but it won’t work out with my upcoming maternity leave so now they don’t ask. Maybe there will be more when I get back, and I know that having a baby is more important in my life than work. But I worked hard and earned my promotions and now people less qualified people just get offered the opportunities because we are short on staff. I was going to put in extra time today to make up hours I missed while going to appointments but now I have no motivation.
@chaser61 I feel you girl. I'm trying not to be too bothered by having not been nominated for any awards for my college after busting my butt but it's really hard not to feel like people are taking me for granted. I have to repeat to myself that awards are stupid. They are stupid. I have to remember that there have been people who have won awards here at work who I KNOW first hand are horrible at their jobs, including one lady who was fired within a year of winning her award and we're still dealing with her screw-ups...so awards are stupid. I think you should consider telling your supervisors that you don't want to be overlooked for these promotions if there is something there you want to do after you return to work. It's important to be satisfied at work as well as home and the resentment really sucks.
ALL the tantrums today. And they’re all revolving around DS wanting me to get things for him.. Things that are practically an arms reach away from him. I’m not your toy bitch, sorry kid.
@chaser61 i know that feeling and I’m so sorry. Before DS i was up for a manger promotion but since i had to go on disability due to complications plus my leave they promoted two others in that time. Then they no longer had the budget for mine. Two years later i decided to change positions/department with better opportunity and now the other department is hurting a bit. Oh well they missed out. I hope you get better opportunities after your leave! It’s very disappointing and not motivating to be looked over after putting in all your energy. Edited baby is spelling for me i guess
Just got back from the doctor's office for a regular check-up and they suggested Floradix liquid iron. I guess it causes less constipation and still gives iron. Just wanted to share for the other ladies who have to take iron (I remember someone saying they were worried about the poop situation). LOL.
Now a little BF...so I walk in the house and realize I have a voicemail from the midwife I just saw. She says, "Hi you just saw me, it's Blah Blah. I just want to confirm something obscure in your blood test (which was at 28 weeks, 2 weeks ago). Come in tomorrow any time and we have a lab order already set up for you." WTF?! What is this for? What is obscure? I tried calling back, but of course, it's five, so they are now closed and have the answering machine on. And...my DH heard her say something like Anti-M something when she was reviewing our file with us, so naturally, I googled and now I'm all panicked. UGH!
@flockofmoosen3 I talked to them about some of the opportunities and they said the timing was off and we would see where things are at when I get back. Just wishing I had kids back in my 20s. @wildtot it is disappointing.
@julybabybear How frustrating. I guess it is good that they caught it but the dropped the ball if you just had an appt.
@julybabybear how stressful! Hope it is nothing and you get some answers tomorrow!
my kid refused to nap today ugh I know we need to transition her to the toddler bed but days like this and nights like earlier this week where she was up a million times make me so nervous too!
@julybabybear I took Floradix and still experienced constipation, but another liquid iron option I really enjoyed without the constipation was Gaia PlantForce. Same price point, maybe a but cheaper, tastes less like metal too, lol!

Thanks everyone! My OB gave me a list but theres like 6 different practices and 5-6 doctors at each one- I guess better to have more choices then not enough? I’m from CT and we now live in NH so the doc I used to go to isn’t an option and obviously cant ask my friends down there bc that would be a hell of a commute for a sick kid haha. Our friends up here are pretty spread out amongst the state and I’d really like a pediatrician that is close. I like the local moms facebook group idea, Ill have to do that and then maybe do a meet and greet with a few
wildtot is that through Cigna? When we called last year (2017) when we first got pregnant they told us there was a monetary incentive and now when I went to go sign up not only is there no longer a monetary incentive for 2018 but they don’t reimburse for baby classes anymore!
I txted DH that I would shank someone for a cupcake and frosting...these were the closest I could get
it's 80 deg IN my house...i'm working from home with no AC just open windows with little breeze and a ceiling fan...i'm sticky, cranky, feeling huge, and my staff are being stupid...can i just call in pregnant and call it a day? (sarcasm)
I think you should consider telling your supervisors that you don't want to be overlooked for these promotions if there is something there you want to do after you return to work. It's important to be satisfied at work as well as home and the resentment really sucks.
Edited baby is spelling for me i guess
UGH!
@julybabybear How frustrating. I guess it is good that they caught it but the dropped the ball if you just had an appt.
my kid refused to nap today ugh I know we need to transition her to the toddler bed but days like this and nights like earlier this week where she was up a million times make me so nervous too!
