@tarheelgirl8 not tacky! My MIL did the same for us for a deep cleaning before DS. I think it’s a wonderful helpful gift to give (ask for) so you lessen your stress and focus on baby.
@tarheelgirl8 maybe phrase is as you guys already have all the big baby items - the only other thing you’ve been considering is getting a cleaning service and that if they want to contribute to that then that would be helpful.
Agreed with the above, not tacky! If it was me I would give them an option to still get something for baby, even though small, and then say "what would really help us while taking care of the baby is knowing we won't have to worry about cleaning the house for a few months, we usually pay X to have the house cleaned by X company and it would be great if you could gift us a few cleaning days with them".
@tarheelgirl8 if they ask for what you need, and that is what you need, go for it!!!! The worst they can say is "no"... then ask if they will just give $$ for you to use when baby is here
