@SkilledSailor Apple Cider Vinegar helps with heartburn/reflux. I like Bragg’s and drink a tablespoon with ice water and lemon in the mornings. You can also take it as a shot or mix it in salad dressing.

You could talk to your Dr. about taking Zantac (Ranitidine) as it works better preventatively. Eating smaller meals, don’t lay down after eating, more pillows to prop yourself up if it bothers you at night.
Randomly, potentially oranges. With my first, I was in 3rd trimester-ish around Christmas and mandarin oranges really helped! Also, sleeping more up right, not eating close to bed, and not too much sugar ( ). These may be more indigestion tips though as Tums did nothing for me. I am also allowed (encouraged) to take Zantac, I think, it is!

@southernlady07@chillmama1518@arcticseal-2 Thank you ladies! I may message my midwife about the Zantac. I've been trying to avoid acidic foods but am still getting acid reflux by mid-afternoon. Will definitely try the apple cider vinegar as well!
@SkilledSailor Also, not drinking lots of liquid on an empty stomach. I used to be a guzzler and w dd had to learn to sip between meals and get the bulk of my water intake in during a meal.
Ironically, this applied to dd as well as a baby and at 7 months we had to night wean and only nurse with foods... so 7x a day in the high chair between wake up and bedtime. Looking back I have no idea how we survived or did anything else!
Hope you find some relief!

Plusone to the Zantac. I’m on it even not in pregnancy. I also avoid large meals (especially at night) and no texmex later on in pregnancy. For some reason Mexican does not upset my stomach. Just taco type foods.
Zantac. If that doesn't do it, Prilosec or Nexium. I've needed to go on Omeprazole for both pregnancies because it became very painful and was waking me up every night no matter what I ate or drank or did. Besides medication, small meals, even too much water can cause it, many people recommend milk which might feel good for a minute but is actually acidic and can make things worse, sleeping propped up.
@SkilledSailor I have dealt with severe acid reflux for a couple years. I actually had LPR, which was a kind of reflux that affects the throat. I stopped taking omeprazole when TTC but I know it can be taken. Another vote for Zantac, which definitely is ok. I also majorly changed my diet. No acidic food (tomato, citrus, etc) nothing very high in fat. I had to swear off alcohol and caffeine long ago and that helped. Also, not eating at night (which is impossible when pregnant so never mind). Lots of foods helped me - cantaloupe, fennel, bananas.
Another +1 for Zantac. I use it as needed not for prevention so far, but 3rd tri with DS I was taking it pretty regularly with the all clear from my OB to take it too.

Papaya Enzymes worked great during my first pregnancy, but this baby (and my second) just laugh at them as they shoot fire up my esophagus. I’m taking Zantac pretty regularly, and my heartburn got so bad with my second, I was on Prilosec and Zantac toward the end (i had such bad digestion issues it actually was one of the reasons I went into pre-term labor at 34 weeks! They prescribed Prilosec during my hospitalization).
Has anyone done or is planning to do a newborn photo shoot? Are they worth it? I’m considering it as we have no good pictures of DS from his first few weeks. We had a hospital photographer take some, but they weren’t great and they didn’t include us. I’m typically the family photographer and don’t think I’ll be up for doing it myself that close to birth. I’d like some that include me, DH, and big brother. Timing wise we could probably use the photos for birth announcement and Christmas cards.

We almost didn't do one with DS then in the hospital after delivery I basically panicked about not having set one up, found a photographer that could fit me in and did a photo shoot the following week. I am very happy I had those pictures done and I actually just put a deposit down today with the same photographer for a newborn session for this LO.
I took DS myself and I got a great picture of me holding him. This time I'm going to have MH take the day off so we can get some brother and family pictures too.

@nackie I already have mine tentatively scheduled. My photographer had a package deal for maternity photos and in-home newborn photos. I'm really looking forward to having professional photos of LO to look back on.
Talk to me about fetal heart rate monitors. I'm not nervous, I just think it might be neat for my older children to hear the baby. Worth the $40-$50?
I have a Sonoline B. I bought it with my first because I was PGAL and it helped me be not so anxious. I used it once a week for 5 min or less until I was feeling consistent movement. I believe I bought it from here (https://www.clinicalguard.com/sonoline-b-handheld-pocket-fetal-doppler-174.html) but I didn't think I paid $40 for it.
It was great for calming PGAL nerves, but I don't think I'd ever have spent the money just for an older child to hear the heart beat. But that's a personal decision so you may decide it is worth it.
I find the Sonoline B easy to use, although I did buy Aquasonic gel from Amazon instead of using the stuff that came with it.

Newborn photos are totally worth it. So, much so that for my 3rd we paid a professional who was good at newborns to do a family/newborn shoot. She'll hopefully do this baby as well!
We get ours done at about a month old though because I like awake and a little personality to show!

We did newborn pics with my son and actually used our wedding photographer for them. I'm really happy we did them, but I don't LOVE the pictures. This time I will definitely be doing them but will make sure I find someone who truly specializes in newborn pictures, and who's style I really love.

I'm not a fan of newborn photos--most newborns all look very similar to me, just wrinkly little things, and newborn photos usually tend to be "here's a baby on a blanket", "here's a baby in a baseball mit", "here's a baby next to a pumpkin" or whatever. Personally, I'd save the money and wait until the baby is at LEAST 1-2 months old and do a shoot including a family shoot. But that's just my perspective! We took plenty of snapshots of my daughter when she was a newborn, and did professional photos later when she had a bit more personality and looks to capture.
@nackie Definitely yes to the newborn photos. They’re best to do around 7-12 days old. I tried to save money with DS and hated the photos so I spent a bit more for DD and just love the pics. I personally skipped the maternity photo shoot to balance things out.

We did an in hospital photoshoot (not with the hospital photographer.) Worth every penny. I knew I wouldn't be in a single picture if I didn't hire a photographer. At least not any good ones. Some how my husband can take perfect like GQ selfies of himself but every picture of me ever looks straight up like Jabba the Hut. Thanks babe. I love the pictures we got with the professional photographer. I looked pretty awful cause I was really beat up, but she somehow made it work. Cute picture of baby in the foreground and me and hubby kinda fuzzed out in the background, me kissing the baby so my double chins are hidden and you can't totally see the dark circles under my eyes, ect. Picture of me holding my baby with all my iv lines, Band-Aids, warning bracelets, ect showing, so it's a beautiful loving picture but also shows that I went throw some serious shit to make it happen. I really want to do an in hospital and a newborn shoot where I get my hair and makeup done this time. We couldn't afford a full on newborn shoot last time but I desperately wanted the in hospital pictures and the photographer was running a special.
I’m planning to do at least a small newborn photo shoot. I’ve had a lot of stupid stress and drama leading up to this, and most of my big life events, and I got some good advice (from someone on here!) to do all of the little things that might seem silly at the time, bc I’ll appreciate having it. So, I’m doing allll the tourist things for my pregnancy lol.
We are also going to plan to do a newborn shoot. I was actually so impressed, one afternoon when we were just chatting about the baby at home after an appointment, DH actually remembered the name of the photographer who took the pictures posted in the OB's office waiting room! And he was like, "oh maybe we should try them?" #swoon
I mentioned the idea of a photo shoot to DH and he was surprisingly on board. Coming from a man that acts like he thinks a photo of him will steal his soul, I was shocked!
I have a question about maternity pants. I have 2 pairs of full-panel jeans, one from Loft and one from Pea in the Pod. In the last few weeks I've transitioned into wearing these at least some of the time, because the ones with the elastic waist inserts were starting to be uncomfortably tight and the button irritated my belly. However, I've found that both full-panel pairs don't stay up very well. As my bump gets bigger, will that help hold them up better? Or might it just be the brand/how I'm shaped? I'm 18 weeks pregnant, but my bump is pretty substantial because I'm having twins.
We did a small photo shoot (my sister took them) 5 days after DD was born. DH was sick, I had 2 allergic reactions... it was not pretty. Also I looked horrible in every single photo from the hospital and we missed the hospital photographer because DH went home to shower and by the time he got back DD had been sent to the NICU. This time I am definitely getting my hair done before any photos and hopefully DH won’t be sick so we can get some cute family photos.
I also didn’t do a maternity shoot last time but we’ll be in Hawaii soon and they do free photo shoots (you just pay for the photos you like) so we’re going to do some maternity/family photos. I really just want someone to capture some good ones of me and DD since I don’t get in a lot of those (DH takes super unflattering photos of me).
@iba34 I had a lot of trouble at first with my full panels. However as I got bigger they did stay up fine and were so comfy. I got full panels again this time....same issue. I also have the same problem with underbelly panels too...but underbelly panels tend to not stay up on me throughout the whole pregnancy. So just for ME i prefer full panels
@iba34 I think it will get better as you get bigger. My full panel jeans seem to fall down a lot now too, so I am still in prepregnancy jeans with a ponytail holder keeping them closed. I tried on a couple pair of under belly jeans and I could not wear them. I felt like they were way too low cut for my taste.

What brands have people found to stay up well?
Full panels definitely stayed up better as I got bigger. I saved my jeans from DS so my problem now is that the panels have been used on a big belly and I'm not that big yet so they don't stay up as well as I'd like, but it definitely gets better as you get bigger.

I'm all for babies in baskets, next to pumpkins, surrounded by a circle of roses, whatever but I 100% draw the line at anything that is eating the baby related. Baby in a pot, baby shaped cakes, appetizers shapes like babies. Ugh. I hate it all. Say it with me now, we do not eat the baby.
@stothi you sound like my son with your do not eat the baby comment. He thinks it’s really funny to play bite me and DH and every time we tell him teeth are only for food. He responds with “Eat the mommy!” I’m raising a little cannibal also, I promise not to take any pictures of my baby in any sort of baking or cooking apparatus.
If one of the parents is a professional chef, I can see that first example being cute with the chef hat on. But no thank you to the turkey baby in the roasting pan!! WTF?
