I'm convinced our house is haunted by a dog. When I'm home alone and the house is quiet, I can hear an animal running around upstairs but all of ours will be downstairs with me. H tries to tell me it's the neighbors bf's dog but that dog is RARELY there. No where near as often as I hear this noise. Plus the cat randomly goes nuts and practically flies down the stairs. However, Ghost Dog doesn't have any accidents, chew things, or attack any of my animals so it can stay.
When did the noises start? I would be completely freaked if I heard that - except I would think it was a person living in my attic. Ghost dog sounds more like Casper
Not a story, but DH and I went on a ghost tour in Gettysburg a couple of years ago, and I took this picture. It is sideways for some reason, but there is a face above the flash.
MH and I are convinced he has a ghost that looks over him (not in a bad way). Said ghost likes to mess with me. I have had pb randomly appear on my leg after just taking a shower and bread loafs get thrown off the counter. There have been other instances but those are the two that stand out in my mind. We've also had overhead cabinets swing open which os odd cause they need a hood oomph to get open most days. Oh and dsd used to talk to him when she was little and talk about daddy's friend the big man and described him to a t (said individual passed looong before she was born and she would have no way of knowing who or what he looked like). #cuetwilightzonemusic

@SkilledSailor I had a ghost cat experience once! I shared a room with my best friend and her cat in college and we lived in a pretty creepy apartment building, and her cat would often jump in my bed, walk across it and snuggle with me. Except several times I felt the cat jump onto my bed, walk across it, then I'd look at my friend's bed and see her cat curled up with her! But I could still feel a cat walking across my bed! It was so weird.
The only other story I have is that the house where my mother still lives is a very odd house. When we moved in, all of the windows were boarded up, it had a silent alarm system with panic buttons in each room, and there was a giant metal barricade on either side of the front door (like you'd put a giant piece of wood through to prevent someone from entering - like in a castle!) Anyway, not long after we moved in, I noticed late at night that there would be a sound like scissors being used. Like a metallic snip sound. And it would move around the house. I liked to stay up late reading and sometimes it would sound like it was right next to me, then a minute later it would sound like it was across the room, then down the hall. Not sure if that counts as a ghost story since it was just a weird, moving noise, but it was very strange.
Such a cool thread idea!! H's dad passed away about 9 years ago. He keeps some of his ashes in a little wood box that is super hard to open since it fits like a puzzle piece. The day we signed out papers to buy our house was also Canada Day (one of his favorite days). We were upstairs at my moms and when we went back down the lid was right in the middle of the living room and the rest of the box was exactly where it was, at the very back of the bookshelf. Then we moved into our house the end of August and hung all of our photos. DS was born end of October and obviously Christmas was December. Between November and Christmas picture frames kept falling off my wall. They would be completely upside down, shattered but right under where they were (no idea how they flipped!). We lost 3 frames (those big ones with multiple photos in them), all of which we had photos of his dad in. I was telling my mom about it (she is super into mediums and stuff) and about a half hour later one of three mirrors over my fireplace fell down. I found it oddly comforting - like he was spending time with his grandson and letting us know he is here.
I'm pretty sure the guy who lived in the house before us comes to visit every once in a while [he was on hospice, passed away (in the hospital), and his wife sold the house shortly after to move to Florida].
We have a dragon clock with a pendulum (dragon's tail), that's never worked, regardless of new batteries. On occasion I'll walk by and notice it's moving. It has no batteries in it at all, either. And it usually lasts for a few hours or a couple of days. There was another instance when we first moved in where H and I took a shower together, and when we got out and opened the bathroom door, the mirror (on the outside of the door, not in the bathroom) fogged up and it very clearly had "Get out ...[something illegible]... house" written on it. And we'd washed the mirror a dozen times before that. It wasn't any of our hand writing, and it wasn't handwriting of someone we'd recognize... We have random cold patches of space in the house, too.
We also had an entire bowl of Lindor truffles that went missing. It may or may not have been from a squirrel or chipmunk, but it was a LOT of chocolate. I'm talking, I bought like 10-15 bags and filled a huge candy bowl (which is most likely actually a gravy bowl or something, but candy is more important) with the chocolate, and the next night it was all missing. SS was at his bio-mums, H and I slept upstairs, and there were no wrappers to be found. Dog was in his crate for the night, and even if he figured out how to open/close the door, he would've been sick from that much chocolate (as would one of us adults!). So yeah. That one really pisses me off. Whether it's a ghost or a critter, I'm still bitter about having that many Lindor truffles stolen from me.
As a formerly religious current atheist I'm conflicted about ghosts. I'd love for them to be real because I find it so fascinating and it would open up a whole new world of (legitimate) scientific study. But I also don't really believe there's an afterlife, womp womp womp...

If ghosts are real then a whole lot of other even scarier shit is real. I love scary movies because that is fiction but actual stories like this creep me the f out. I love and hate this thread.
I don't know what I truly believe, when it comes to ghosts. But, I have had many unexplained experiences. I definitely believe in spirits , but are they dead people....
My dog used to growl at the room across from my bedroom, and would not go in it. I several times woke, to see a white curtain shape go past my door and see the dog growling at the foot of the bed with her hair up.
Since my brother has past, there has been a lot of stuff happening at my parents house. Several times I see and know there is someone in the room with me, to turn around and see no one. I hear my name every now and then, stuff goes missing to be found in hilarious spots. DH felt someone grab his ass, which is something my brother would have done to be funny. My kids have said stuff too.
Also, DD used to always talk about "her friends in the sky." She told me creepy things like, they don't like parents. One time, I was dropping her at my mom's to go to work, but she got sick and I had to take her mom. When we pulled up to the house, she said her friend's in the sky said I wasn't supposed to go to work that day.
When I lived in my parents house, it was an old farm house that was over 100 years old. We had a ghost named Charlie. He was an old sea captain who would walk around looking for his bride. When he went to sea (which you could see the creek to the river out the back upstairs deck), she apparently left the house and hooked up with another man. He would walk the house at night looking for her. He was super friendly and nothing wrong at all. You could hear footsteps on the stairs, cabinets and doors would open...all kinds of stuff. You could actually see the door handles turn. It was crazy and cool all at the same time. He was never confrontational or anything. Just kind of a constant presence.

I have never heard of whatever this is. Trying to decide whether I should google or never ever google. I’m already a poor sleeper with an overactive imagination. But I do love scary things. Just not real life scary. I’m open for votes for and against.
The whole haunting could have been avoided if he wasn't so dumb! He was told to only ask David two questions, and the first thing he does is ask three. He was only give one rule and he couldn't follow it.

@galactickates@eleven_ One theory is he photoshopped the photos, as he is an artist/comic book writer. I read one theory by a couple of mediums that have suspicion he is either faking or dramatizing what really has happened. TLDR: he is too specific on certain details like the girl saying three questions was too many, if he was really afraid he would accept professional help, and spirits do not usually look like that.
@jrm_14 - The only thing additional I read about it was the mention that it was green, like the chair in his house, the warehouse, the turtle shell, the cactus and the green vase that moved on the coffee table. I found that to be really strange when I read that. It's super creepy.
The picture in the warehouse lightened up gave me chills.
Reading the tweets at the end. Lol the comments to the "I'm fine" tweet all said "ok david"
@meggyme my best friend showed me how you could do that to a picture. That's true, but there is a video of him taking the Poloroid AND it develops.... explain that.
I just don't understand some things though.... why hasn't anything come out about this warehouse? Why was it suddenly empty? No one has claimed the hearse? Who owns that building? I'd be taking the license plate number. If he lives in new York.... NO ONE knows anything??? How can this be? Also where the hell are his neighbors? If there are 4 units - knock on some doors please. The other thing is the loud noise on the roof... couldn't that be someone on the roof. Ask your freaking land lord if someone was working on your HVAC. I have so many questions, so little answers.
Ps To our new York friends... we're going to need you to take one for the team and check out this warehouse. (Please don't)
I don't think it's real but it's interesting, Twitter as a new medium for horror stories. Even though I don't think it was true I couldn't read them all in one sitting as it freaked me out too much but I am a big baby about scary things.
So I’m a terrible sleeper and decided going down the Dear David rabbit hole while I was awake in the middle of the night would be a good idea....nope! DH was sleeping in the bed downstairs and I had to run down three levels and hop in next to him after I got about five minutes into reading. That is a messed up story - whether it’s real or not (and I’m inclined to believe it’s made up because it’s too sensational)!
So I read through the links you all posted (thanks!) while not sleeping tonight. I am having trouble buying into it for many reasons as already discussed above, but it is still creepy AF. Thoroughly enjoying it and giving me the heebie jeebies. Think it is better because I don’t believe him.
@spottedginger - thanks for posting that article, it was a good read.
In the latest videos everyone keeps talking about what's on the floor, but what the heck is across the door. The big black thing. Does anyone know if that's been discussed? I haven't seen anything
