1. How far along are you?
6 weeks and 3 days
2. How are you feeling?
The nausea has arrived... started about two days ago. I basically feel kind of sick all day- have yet to actually throw up. Fun stuff!
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? (Or if a first time mom, has anyone given you good suggestions?)
I’m a FTM- I heard ginger is a saving grace during the nausea stage!
1. 6 weeks 2. Oh man, nausea is here. Well, it was this morning. It’s pretty much over now for the day. 3. Take your prenatals at night take your prenatals at night take your prenatals at night. Suck on peppermints as soon as you start feeling queasy. Sip flat caffeine free diet coke or a seltzer all day. (ginger ale didn’t work for me and the commercial ones aren’t made with actual ginger anyway). Plan to nibble from when you wake up to about 10:30 in the morning. Take your prenatals at night.
@celette482 I'm wondering...should I take my prenatals at night? Haha. I actually started doing this by accident (kept forgetting during the day) and it's much better! Good advice!
As for me, at 5 weeks 3 days nausea has arrived. Still mild but definitely here as soon as I woke up. This is so early for me! I usually don't get it til 6 weeks. I'm hoping its early arrival means an earlier departure? Also, had my first real cramping this morning, which freaked me out, even though I know it can be normal. Looks like today is a day for lots of deep breaths and some mints.
@runrinserepeat my close friend uses peppermint essential oils for her migraines and it actually really helps since she was taking migraine medication all day for her migraines and they wouldn’t go completely away. Definitely try it!
How's the first trimester treating everyone this week?
1. How far along are you? 4 weeks and 4 days
2. How are you feeling? The symptoms come and go, but manageable for now!
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? I just take things a day as a time. It's hard with two little ones at home, but between school, day care, and work we have a pretty good routine going and my husband is supportive so that helps too!
2. How are you feeling? Fine, for the most part. Random twinges here and there, more tired than usual, but I still don't feel pregnant pregnant. The crazy pregnancy dreams have started with a vengeance, though.
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? Seconding the recommendation to stay off Google. Nap when/while you can (in my experience, getting a good night's sleep gets tough well before baby shows up, so if you can rest now, do it). Also: no news is good news with respect to symptoms, so don't let yourself be ruled by anxiety just because you can keep your meals down. Oh, and make peace with the fact that the right prenatal vitamin for you may not be the cheapest one available, but you have to take it anyway.
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? I was sick until 18 weeks with DS1. Had hyperemesis with ds2. Gingerale & preggie pops were the only thing that gave me relief.
@AGK2015 your comment reminded me: I'm taking Flintstone's vitamins as prenatals. I just realized that they have the recommended amount of Folic Acid for pre-pregnancy, but not during. Whoops. They were cheap, chewable, and they have iron (which most chewables don't). I guess I'm going back to the store to get more vitamins today. Thanks for the reminder.
2. How are you feeling? Still tired and still bloated. I had some brown spotting this morning so that has me all freaked out, but physically I'm doing ok for the most part.
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? Listen to your body. If you're tired, rest. Don't push yourself. There will be plenty of time to get things done in the second trimester once your energy returns!

Re: prenatals, I have chewables and I'm able to take them in the mornings without issues. But yes...they don't contain iron. I had to supplement a little bit, but managed to get enough in my diet to not need to supplement. It can be done ladies!
Yeah, I’m always iron deficient. I managed to get through two pregnancies without supplementing, but I felt like shit. Hoping to to make things a little easier on myself this time. I’m seriously taking so many supplements now. It’s ridiculous.
2. How are you feeling? Tired. All the time. Boobs are sore. Nauseous at times but it’s manageable. Hot flashes like whoa. Tons of cravings and hungry all the time. I feel like a teenage boy with the bottomless pit for a stomach.
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? Just trying to keep busy and whatnot. The hardest part about the first trimester for me is waiting to see that first ultrasound to be sure everything looks good and waiting to let the world know so I can talk about it freely. Also waiting to find out gender... it’s hard! I don’t know how mommas who wait til birth do it! So just trying to keep busy and hoping the time passes quickly. I have to remember whatever is meant to be will be and so I can’t worry about the what if’s and I just need to take everything one day at a time.
Ok so I don't know if it's actually my sensitive sniffer kicking in, or just the fact that I'm paying attention to it, but wow the world is so full of smells that don't go well together.
2. How are you feeling? So exhausted, but I have the worst insomnia ever... its horrible! Round ligament pain is rough this go around (baby #4 will do that, I suppose!) cramping here and there, and waves of nausea. Achy back and hips, and my boobs are killing me! So far, I'm not miserably sick though, so I'm thankful for that!
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? (Or if a first time mom, has anyone given you good suggestions?)
Stay off of google! nap when you can and try not to overthink every symptom!
2. How are you feeling? Good! I'm part bottomless pit, and part camel. If I'm not eating something I am drinking tea (I drink watered down herbal tea). I'm already back up to drinking 2+ liters a day (which is near impossible when I'm not pg). But despite the obvious liquid increase, I am still gassy and constipated. Awesome. Oh, nipples are super sensitive, but I don't need to sleep in a soft bra yet. Apparently my body likes to fluff up my chest, so I am bracing myself for cleavage again.
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? (Or if a first time mom, has anyone given you good suggestions?) I'm no expert, but my best advice is to DRINK ALL OF THE WATER. We may not be providing much for our seedlings right now, but in a few months we'll be excreting for two -so make things easier on the ol' liver & kidneys by providing plenty of fluids.

Okay. I'm feeling a bit better than last week. I'm less anxious and I am sleeping better. I am definitely super tired even with sleeping a good amount. I'm also slightly nauseous almost all the time (no vomiting or anything so far thank goodness) and I just don't feel very good overall. I have dizzy spells occasionally when I stand up too fast.
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? (Or if a first time mom, has anyone given you good suggestions?)
As a FTM I don't have many. One friend recommended this app called Expectful so I am trying it out. It's guided meditations for pregnancy and supposed to help calm anxiety. I am doing the one week free trial. I don't think it's been super helpful and it's $9.99 per week after the trial ends, so I will probably cancel it. Maybe the trial is worth a shot if you are super anxious and not opposed to the idea of meditation.
I've also stocked up on foods people have mentioned as being helpful for nausea -- ginger everything, potato chips, lemonade, saltines. I have been eating a few saltines before getting out of bed each morning and that's been helpful.
2. How are you feeling? Just really tired mostly.. sore boobs. Oh and the dry skin is starting to kick in again. I developed severe dry skin during my last pregnancy with DD and it never went away.. and it seems to be getting worse again! Ugh.. I am not one of those lucky women who get a glowing complexion.
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? (Or if a first time mom, has anyone given you good suggestions?) I never really had an terrible symptoms but I totally agree with taking your prenatal at night. My cousin kept saltines by her bed and would eat a couple every morning before getting up. She had terrible MS and she said it helped to have something in her stomach before climbing out of bed in the AM. Ginger never helped me with nausea but it does work for some people. I'm also a big fan of napping and relaxing. I did have terrible heartburn/reflux with DD. I took pepcid AC - safe to take during pregnancy. Did so much more for me than tums. And without the chalky taste - bonus!
I have dizzy spells occasionally when I stand up too fast.
How much water are you drinking?
Usually that kind of lightheadedness is a result of low blood volume. The fix is drinking more water (everyday! Not until it passes).

@mckcak23@mittenlove86 I have been breaking out like crazy and struggling because I can’t use salaycilic acid which is my usual go to. Just found the Mario Badescu skincare line and I’m in love! It’s not that expensive—definitely worth a try!
2. How are you feeling? Soooooo tired! Also extremely bloated and burping nonstop, sore breasts/nips, dull pain/stretching feeling in my hips and uterus area, and a headache. I'm also starting to break out a little. Anyone else burping an excessive amount??? I'm surprised no one I know has called me out on it yet!
@mckcak23 Mine has been awful too. Seems like it's *maybe* calming down, but it was basically covering my entire chin and cheeks.
Y'all, I have had a massive headache since waking up this morning and I forgot to take tylenol and now I'm stuck at work for 10 hours. Ugh. Also, waves of nausea most of the morning, the bloat continues to be real, and I am so, so, so tired. 5 weeks 4 days. Woo.
Today is 6 weeks for me and nausea hit me like a freight train this morning. Had to sit down in the shower for about 10-15 minutes. I legitimately thought I was going to have to miss work. Luckily it was just a really bad wave. Feeling better this afternoon but so so so so tired and cold.
2. How are you feeling? Bloated which seems to be my most obvious symptom. No sore boobs yet... last time before my loss I was super sore, but that may be bc all the IVF hormones....bit neauseas every day. Other than that, not to much.
3. Do you have any 1st trimester survival tips you rely on? Looking for advice!
4 weeks 5 days - I really don't have any strong symptoms. My boobs hurt just a little on the sides. I do seem to be dreaming a lot more, but that may or may not be pregnancy related. I have also been super emotional and moody.
The one worrying symptom I have is today I started getting a really sharp pain off and on in my right side around where my ovary is, trying not to go into panic mode and ignore it....itsfineitsfineitsfinedonotgoogledonotgoogle
FTM so no survival tips yet! if/when morning sickness hits I am going to try out everyone's tip to eat often. Need to stock up on snacks!
