APRIL FET

Re: APRIL FET

  • @funkykey Haha no...I didn't put the needle on because I thought I was being "smart". Was thinking it was like when I did Q-caps, where you wouldn't have to worry about leakage lol

@dragonette505 That's my plan. I can't imagine being at work and getting that call either way

last year when I had my FET I was supremely confident it would work (tw it did, but I mc'ed) PLUS I had been testing and poasing and knew by then I was... but right as the phone started ringing, I thought.. omg, what if the numbers are low... I broke out into such an awful sweat. Plus you usually don't know WHEN the call will come, so I had ppl at my desk chatting, and like a lunatic I had to mumble off some excuse and run take the call in a conference room... not fun :/
  • @dragonette505 ugh, I'm so sorry you had to go thru that. For my chemical, was pretty much the same deal. POAS was positive, then doctor sent for bloodwork but it was super low. In my head I kept thinking maybe it would all turn around...even though I was bleeding...I was in denial. Luckily, the doctor herself called me to explain and was sympathetic. So think is a big part of why I'm more cautious going into this. Even my RE says it doesn't get better for awhile...you pray to get to 12 weeks, then if twins you're praying to make 20 weeks.

  • @ndz2018 everything is right!  Thank you!!  :)
  •  Oh man.. I didn’t even consider taking the day of the beta off.. I know I’m most likely going to test before my beta. Maybe I’ll just take the afternoon off and not check my vm till I leave.

  • kristimh80  Ugh... that's the worst part about testing at home (even though nothing could stop me from doing it!) is that you have no idea of the levels... well, at least with digitals you know its over 50. But that's it... other than that even a "good" first beta only tells you that currently you are pg. TW my second pg last year never had doubling betas. And of course I searched through all the googles to find the one in a million that it could work out, but nope!
Betas definitely don't always equal peace of mind :/
  • dragonette505  So true! My digitals confirmed 1-2 weeks and one even said 2-3 weeks so it was very confusing. Then I think my 1st beta was like 37, but at the time I was clueless but they luckily warned me that it didn't sound good anymore. We are damned either way I tell ya!

@funkykey no I won’t. I’m not exactly sure when my first beta will be scheduled since 10dpt will be on a Sunday. I’m assuming they will wait until Monday and luckily I am already off that day. For some reason my school has a random day off. I doubt they would decide to do a beta on that Friday which would only be 8dpt.

Yeah... when you tested you must’ve been over 50, so yeah, that sux. I’m still going to test no matter what :(
  • @dragonette505 Same! I don't like things I have no control over...so knowing before beta feels like at least something we can prepare for :)

Agreed - TW with the first (PGS normal) we transferred, my first beta at 9dp5dt was 153 and my second at 11dp5dt was 324 (but didn’t stick).  I was at puppy class with our dog when I got the call for my first beta, but I’d tested a couple of days before.  It’s frustrating to have no control over how this goes/that we can’t really do anything at that point.

  • Are any of you completely giving up coffee? DH this morning was like "this is your last weekend of anything, including coffee". He said we weren't going to risk it. But I see some many even pregnant ladies that have a cup a day and it's fine.

  • J1006J1006 member
I’ve cut back a lot on my caffeine intake in the last couple of years. My doctor said one cup per day is fine and that’s what I’m going with.
  • Good to hear! I never have been a huge coffee addict, but usually I'll fill my small yeti in the morning and just sip on it all day at work. I figure my husband is just being paranoid, but I'll probably switch to more tea here soon as well.

  • Guys, you know what's weird? I've never had a cup of coffee in my life!  People look at me like I have 6 heads when I tell them that lol. I just can't tolerate caffeine so I've never had a cup. I love coffee flavored foods, though (cake,  ice cream, etc.). I'd probably be a MUCH nicer person in the morning if I could drink coffee hahaha!

@tosh24. We can’t be friends haha JK. I know a lot of people who don’t drink coffee, including my sister. My husband thinks I’m weird because I actually like the taste of coffee too!  He says no one drinks coffee for the taste haha. I’ve cut down a lot on my caffeine intake in the past few years. Of my cup this morning I probably only drank half and won’t have anymore throughout the day.

  • Thanks @kristimh80!  FINALLY (on CD21) got my +opk late last night, so went in for blood work this AM - will likely have to go back tomorrow for the same as my temp this morning still hadn’t spiked.  I really dig not being on any drugs (REALLY hated the Estrace) and being allowed to ovulate, but peeing on sticks for 12 days (no thanks to the lupron from my last retrieval, I suspect) definitely got old!  I may still get progesterone supplementation even though my luteal phase has never (when allowed to ovulate) been shorter than 14 days.  How’s the PIO going?  I may request it since I really didn’t like the Endometrin last time either.

DH and I switched to decaf a while ago.  We get Peet’s Major Dickason’s decaf and it’s manageable.  We make espresso (and espresso drinks) at home.  When out we’ll get decaf Americanos or lattes since decaf espresso has less caffeine (than decaf drip) and a lot of places don’t have decaf drip on hand. Some days I definitely miss coffee (so tired!), but overall we haven’t found the transition too bad (since Peet’s at least tastes decent).  But even with the decaf, I just recently (after finishing up with retrievals) started drinking 1-2 cups/week again.  Will try not to drink any during pregnancy.

  • @artemis618 That exciting....you're getting really close!!! I must be a weird one because I love being on estrace, it makes me happy idk why. lol PIO is going well. 2nd shot this morning was a breeze! Needle is bigger like a trigger shot one, but since it goes into a fatty area of your body, I don't find it hurts at all. Just a slight pinch when I inject it. I opted out of suppositores because didn't want the mess, esp knowing they'd up them to 2-3 times a day. I remb when I've had them before...it felt like there was lotion roaming around down there. No thanks! lol

  • @kristimh80 Yeah, I’d heard great things about Estrace, so I was really surprised at how awful it made me feel.  But everyone is different!  On Estrace, my lining got to 10 within my first week on it (then I had to stay on it for two and a half more weeks), but my lining’s actually been a touch fluffier naturally this cycle.

I just used a Menopur-like needle for my last few trigger shots (sub-q), so have no experience with the larger gauge needle yet!  Sounds like it might be worth it though (shot once? a day vs mess all day every day).  Not sure how timing works for me (if they’d want me to start it before transfer since once I ovulate my corpus luteum should be making some) - I already have some leftover Endometrin and not sure how long it would take to get PIO since I have to use Freedom Pharmacy through my insurance.

  • @artemis618 Gotcha! I started mine yesterday which is almost a week before transfer, so I'd assume you'd start to pretty soon. Least you have the Endometrin if need something right away. I'd probably ask the nurses soon in case you need to make an order :) My order was overnighted, so you should be good.

  • @kristimh80 Well, the progesterone that my corpus luteum produces will actually start the clock (as in a natural pregnancy).  It may be too much to hope that I could go without entirely, but I suppose it’d be “safer” to have supplementation. *sigh*.

Still guessing my transfer will be a day after yours (4/4), but blood work today/tomorrow will confirm...just makes it harder to plan.  I’ll still call the acu who did my German protocol acu for last transfer, but it seems less likely they’ll have someone available on shorter notice.  I’m kind of torn on the idea anyway because it’s SO expensive (the cost of 10 regular sessions), so I won’t go out of my way to find someone else if they can’t do it.  ‘Cause also...Valium.

  • Holy crap I have missed a ton!!!

@Kristimh80 I’m giving up coffee the day I start estrace. I allowed myself to have I think 3 coffees when I miscarried and even if it had nothing to do with anything at this point everything will make me second guess things. Rather give myself all the chances I can.

We also just did our FET consent forms last week. Also not taking off for transfer or the day after. My doctor told me just go about my day after transfer. Just no exercising or heavy lifting. But other than that it’s fine to go to work etc. I also wouldn’t be taking off to wait for beta results. I got calls last time at work I just shut my door and cried. So rather not waste time I don’t have not being at work. I don’t have a lot of leave either so that’s half of it.

@roisis im so sorry you have another delay. I can’t imagine the anger and frustration when you just want to get this show on the road. I pray this month goes by fast for you. Hang in there…in the end this shitty shitty crap will be worth it.

Are you all that serious about heating up the PIO? This crap is that painful???? How do you compare it to cetrotide that always left me with a 2 inch burning welt that itched like hell??

So tomorrow is my us/bw apt. Thank you jesus let’s get this crap going!!!

I had my baseline ultrasound today and they said everything looks perfect :) I just got a call and my estrogen levels look good too. So here we go!  I also got two fabulous circles drawn on me for my estradiol valerate and PIO Injection targets. The nurse looks at my husband and says when they start to fade just redraw them....and don’t draw anything else on her haha. I start my first estrogen shot on Saturday. Kind of nervous because it’s in an oil that’s way thinker than the PIO, but the highest dose I have to take is .3 ml.
  • J1006 do they really draw on you??  I just assumed you stick it in a cheek lol. Yeay for getting the ball rolling :)

@mcgeeva haha my office does! I literally have two circles drawn on me in sharpie.  If DH would be doing all my injections I wouldn’t have had them do it but I will be doing quite a few on my own and this will make it easier for me to get it in the right spot.
  • @mcgeeva Yes, today I actually filled my syringe and laid it on the heating pad as I was running around doing other stuff, then came back and heated the spot where I was going to inject, then just took my shot. It seems to inject slowly which is annoying but it gets it done!

    @J1006 Yay, exciting!!!!

  • kristimh80 I already gave up regular coffee for decaf (organic process) but since my thyroid is being a biotch, I'm even giving that up... I hate mornings without the taste of coffee!! I'm using instead teechino dandelion/ramon/chicory tea and this other stuff called mayan mojo... is it as good as coffee? no. Is it better than nothing? yup :(:(  I also feel pretty good on estrace... More energy and more like a normal person... its the progesterone that ruins my life LOL :)
tosh24 omg... for me it has nothing to do with the caffeine.. I just love the taste! :(  It is kinda hard to imagine never having had it! lol
artemis618  it can be frustrating WTO... Last year when I did the same it also took me FOREVER to o... probably around CD 19 or 20 :( But it WAS a million times nicer than what I'm up to this time :/... I guess after they confirm O you will start progesterone??? OMG... like any minute now!
mcgeeva Smart stopping coffee with estrace.. actually some ppl say caffeine can restrict blood vessels, so I guess who needs that around transfer. For most healthy people, once the baby is good and implanted, one cup of coffee a day doesn't hurt. And I'm with you..lets get this thing going!
J1006  YAY... glad you rocked your baseline!!! OMG!

  • kristimh80  lol that does not sound so lovely!  I just got a call from SG saying my insurance didn't approve my FET yet so I should sign off saying im responsible for it tomorrow when I go to my apt. Um...they better cover that crap!

@dragonette505 yeah I am giving it up cold turkey big time. Move this thing along..praying this month zips by. I also found out this month is still mandatory overtime daily. So working out will not exist. Hope I can find some sort of happy place mentally with all the meds and work.

  • @mcgeeva I think as long as you can get a little walking in, that's probably good enough.... honestly with all the drugs and everything happening, you don't want to over exercise anyway. I usually go to the gym every day, but during my last transfer, I was pretty casual about it... :)
  • @mcgeeva Ugh, that's annoying. I'm dreading have to make that 5k payment on Tuesday.  :#

@dragonette505 Luckily, I think I'm about burned out on coffee. I'm on of those people that have something all the time for awhile, then get over it. So think I'll get a a couple of gallons of green tea this weekend to do me over for awhile. PIO hasn't bothered me at all yet, but it's still early.

  • @dragonette505 I actually have no idea what meds I’ll need when.  I was really hoping to get away with doing this (mostly) naturally, but I know that’s not likely (my future? corpus luteum is now feeling inadequate :p). The progesterone from my *TW* natural pregnancy kicked my butt - DH said I basically just slept for 10 weeks (I also usually go to the gym every weekday before work to miss traffic, ballet class on Saturday, and yoga with DH on Sunday).

@mcgeeva I had a FET insurance prior authorization from back in December that expired on 3/6 that they got “just to see” if it would be covered (I knew it would be - I swear I’ve never been to a doctor’s office - much less an in-network one - that made it so hard to use my insurance benefits), but I didn’t use it because I did the ERA in January and the two retrievals last month.  I asked that they request a new one or get an extension or something back on CD1 on 3/8, and I STILL don’t have it.  Super frustrating.  Lucky I appear to be ovulating a good week late.

I called the acu people up by my clinic (40 miles away from me) even though I don’t have my transfer scheduled yet and OF COURSE they will take my money.  So I guess I’ll do it again.

  • I also love my coffee in the morning!  I just have what my thermal cup holds, about a cup and a half a day.  I’ll give it up next week and probably won’t drink it during pregnancy.  I know lots of women that do still have their cup a day.
  • I switched to half caf years ago when I started trying so I can have more coffee without more caffeine. I miss the buzz (I used to pretty much live on coffee) but I love the taste, so at least I still have that.
  • You ladies are brave doing the PIO shot yourself!  I hate even having to do the little lupron shot myself.  I’m such a chicken with the needles.
  • @laurengon82 Mind over matter! :) If I wasn't such a control freak, I'd let my husband do it but I'm scared he'd end up jabbing me and making it hurt worse!

The first FET, I POAS at home, and I was devastated when it was negative. I went to work on beta day and when they called and it was negative, I wished I hadn't. I wanted my privacy, and I didn't want to have to drive home.

The second FET, I couldn't bring myself to test. All these HPTs in the cupboard, and I was frozen. I did take beta day off though.

I don't know what I'll do this time, depends on when beta day falls. I'll see how I'm feeling.

@kristimh80 - I am definitely not giving up coffee. DH and I are huge coffee drinkers. I have one cup every day, and I love everything about it - I love the taste, I love the heat, I love sitting with it. My family is Norwegian, kind of goes with the territory. The coffee is the most Norwegian thing about me.

@artemis618 - I want to check that I'm reading your signature right. Do you have 6 PGS normal embies?
