PGAL Check-In w/o 3/27

This is a check in for those of us who are experiencing pregnancy after a loss (miscarriage, chemical pregnancy, stillbirth, child loss, to name a few). Hopefully we can all lend support to each other through the hormone-filled craziness that is pregnancy! Just a reminder: there is a general loss trigger warning on this entire thread.

Re: PGAL Check-In w/o 3/27

  • 1) How far along are you: 4 weeks 5 days

    2) How are you feeling (symptoms): Nervous about lack of symptoms. Wish right now I felt more pregnant. Other than fatigue, lack of period, and positive tests,  I don't think I have much to show I'm pregnant.

    3) How are you feeling (anxiety): Checking every time I got to the bathroom. Probably will whole pregnancy. Also nervous because I did not think this month it would happen so I got a needed root canal done. Full numbing, x-rays, and lots of ibuprofen. All a couple of days before positive pregnancy test. Just worried what that might have done and frustrated because every other month for over a year I have been so careful during those two weeks.

    4) Any appointment updates: First appointment April 18th. Going to call today to request beta testing to make sure I'm trending and progesterone is good.

    5) What's happening in your life this week: Pretty chill week. Going to visit family on Sunday for Easter. And working on changing diet up.

6: GTKY: What are some of your hobbies: I just got back in to running and have been training since December for a half marathon that I'm choosing to sit out. It is on the 7th and although I feel up to doing it, with my fatigue and not wanting to push myself I'm not sure I can get the PR I want so I figure why risk it. Plus I'd rather have clearance from the doctor first. There will be more to run in the future.

  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
    I'm 5 weeks today!

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Every new symptom I have makes me feel better and better about this pregnancy, so in that way I'm feeling great ;) In reality, I've got sore boobs, cramps every so often, heartburn, fatigue and more frequent urination. Nothing I can't handle.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Last week after I found out was really rough. I POAS every day from the day I got my BFP (Monday) through Friday when I had my 2nd beta. When I had my CP in January, my levels were on the lower side initially and reduced at my 2nd beta, which signaled I the CP - hence my anxiety about the 2nd test this time around. This time, my levels doubled appropriately and my RE was very pleased with my progress, so they said they didn't feel that further beta checking was required, however I just had it checked again this morning for my own sanity, but I did POAS this morning after taking the weekend off and the line was significantly darker which makes me think it will be fine. After speaking with the doctor on Friday, I did feel a big sigh of relief. We went away this weekend and I didn't test at all and tried not to worry, and I feel so much better.

    4. Any appointment updates?
3rd beta check this morning, first ultrasound scheduled for 4/4. Can't wait!

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
We just got back from a long weekend watching the NCAA March Madness tournament in another state. Although getting away was so much fun and helped to reduce my anxiety significantly, I do feel tired so we're going to try to take it easy this weekend and stay local for Easter just to not overdo it.

    6. GTKY: What are some of your hobbies?
I'm a classically trained pianist and enjoy hiking!

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
7 weeks, possibly. I'm further along than I was with my cp but I haven't seen a heartbeat yet, so I'm still anxious.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Between the headaches, the nausea, and the fatigue, I'm wishing I could spend the day in bed!

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
I had some bleeding this morning, so I'm extra anxious at the moment. I'm hoping that, since I have an OB appointment this afternoon, they might check on lo due to bleeding. It wasn't much, and it was brown, EXCEPT for 2 small "clots" in the toilet.

    4. Any appointment updates?
Hopefully I'll know more this afternoon, but I have a dating ultrasound scheduled for Thursday afternoon. I then have an appointment with a mfm doctor.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): I've had a relatively good week so far. Students are actually doing what they are supposed to, which always make things easier. At home, however, DS has been extra whiny! I'm not sure what's going on, but as soon as something isn't going his way he starts to cry. I thought we were past this phase!

    6. GTKY: What are some of your hobbies? I love to read! I also like to crochet, but I'm not very good at it and I usually don't have the time to finish the projects I start. I used to sew, but I haven't had a working sewing machine in years. I might have to get it fixed so I can sew some things this summer when I'm home with DS.

  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 7w2d - my ultrasound went well last week (with my last loss it was iffy whether it was too early to see much at 6 weeks). I have another ultrasound tomorrow so I'm anxiously awaiting that (with my last loss the 7 week ultrasound verified an abnormal pregnancy that would lead to a loss). If tomorrow goes well I'll think I'll feel a little more confident.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Fine. The nausea was better for a day or two and it's kinda come back. At this point I'm so anxious that could be making me nauseous.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? I go from being ok to a mess. My progesterone dropped last week (I didn't find out until yesterday) to 15 which they say is normal and that it fluctuates. I want to make sure it's not going to keep dropping especially with my PCOS so I'll ask for another level tomorrow.

    4. Any appointment updates? Waiting for my ultrasound tomorrow

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): Nothing out of the ordinary. We went to see my BFFs new house yesterday and let our kids play which was so nice. I always feel so much better after hanging with her. My son is really shy and it takes him a while to warm up even with people he knows, and it was so fun to watch him play with her kids.

    6. GTKY: What are some of your hobbies? I like reading, photography, astronomy, and doing some crafting with my silhouette cameo.

  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 5w2d

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Sore boobs, a little bit of food aversion and nausea. A little extra tired but nothing like I experienced with DD. A little hormonal already.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
I don’t feel as anxious as I thought I would. I just have a good feeling about this pregnancy. I do feel occasional aches on my right side, where my ectopic was, but I’ve been feeling those since it happened last August so I’m trying not to let myself dwell on them. I’m just got my 2nd HCG so we’ll know soon how things look.

    4. Any appointment updates?
None yet. My first appointment is set w/ my midwife on the 9th but they mentioned wanting me to start off w/ the OB at first until we know things are okay, which may change my appointment date.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): I’m going on an overnight trip to attend a concert this weekend w/ my aunt and 14 year old cousin, who is very much the moody teenager. We had them over last night and I snapped at her for sitting at the table, completely ignoring people who are speaking directly to her. Like literally doesn’t look up, respond, or acknowledge someone who is standing right in front of her talking to her. I’ve never experienced such rude behavior and pregnant hormonal me is not looking forward to enduring this crap while being away from my family. But I adore my aunt and we’re best friends so I’m really going for her. They don’t know I’m pregnant so when I pop off there’s not excuse. Fingers crossed I keep it together!

    6. GTKY: What are some of your hobbies?
I love podcasts and reading. I listen to podcasts while I do anything house related— keeps it from being too mind numbing. I just joined a book club so looking forward to that!
  • @ginny_203 Did you get the third beta result back yet? Also, I think it's amazing that you're a pianist! Do you play publicly anywhere or do anything with your talent?
@kbrown2385 It looks like a Silhouette Cameo is kind of similar to a Cricut? I am a paper crafter, but I don't do much beyond that. What kind of things do you like to craft?
@nervous0220 Have you had any more spotting? FWIW, brown spotting is totally normal; I think it's red that is more worrisome. I completely 100% understand you being concerned about it though. Any kind of spotting is very scary, especially with PGAL brain.
@thebobloblaw Oh man, getting sad 911 calls while pregnant would be torture. Currently, I'm crying at everything. Even kids' cooking shows. I can't imagine!

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 9w 1d. I passed all the milestones of my CPs.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Pretty good, which worries me sometimes. I don't have a ton of symptoms, but I'm exhausted, I have to pee all the time, I'm emotional, and my sense of smell is getting very sensitive. I feel like I can smell everything!

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Honestly, I'm doing fine right now. I'm anxious to hear the heartbeat at my next appointment in 1.5 weeks to make sure everything is okay, but I'm pretty confident that things are going well.

    4. Any appointment updates? I got some blood work done for my OB yesterday, so I'm interested to see how my hcg levels are looking now. I should have the results tomorrow morning.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): I don't have too much to say today. I've just been really tired the past week, so every evening around 9:00 I struggle to keep myself awake. I haven't been sleeping well due to lingering congestion from my cold and having to wake up to pee all the time. I'm looking forward to Easter weekend. We're visiting my in-laws in New Jersey and DD always enjoys spending time with her grandma.

    6. GTKY: I love reading, watching TV, scrapbooking (although I haven't done that in a very long time), and doing puzzles.

  • @offtoneverland yes, I got my 3rd beta results - beta was 1,055 at 21DPO and the doctors are very pleased with my progress so far! Regarding the piano, I used to perform at Carnegie Hall in NYC but now I just play for personal enjoyment :)

I love reading too, but it looks like I blanked on that one! Has anyone read/heard of any good pregnancy books?
  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 5 weeks 4 days / Not yet

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Nothing crazy yet

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Nervous. Hopefully I will be able to relax more after everything goes well at the first appointment on April 9th

    4. Any appointment updates? Nope

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): Work has been crazy which is why I assumed I was late due to stress. After buying tests for almost two years I figured it just wasn't happening. When I was a week late I finally took a test which was positive. WOOHOO. Last time we told everyone and got super excited to be heartbroken 8 weeks in so we are attempting to hold off to tell anyone until 12 weeks this time.

    6. GTKY: What are some of your hobbies?  Reading and exploring new places around me
  • @prairiemomma82 Congrats on the book! Can you tell us the title? I would love to garden but I'm terrible at it. Every spring I have grand ideas that never amount to much.
  • My boobs feel less sore today than they have been. Of course, my PGAL mind goes to the worst possible place, even though all my bloodwork results so far have been great. My scan on Wednesday can't come soon enough! Do you guys also experience symptoms coming and going, or being worse one day than the next?
  • @ginny_203 100% on the symptoms coming and going. Always makes me doubt!

@MouseMama817 thanks! Google: A Cloud named Joleen, :)
  • @prairiemomma82 The synopsis looks so sweet! I can't wait to check it out. The illustrations are gorgeous.
  • @ginny_203 I logged on here this morning to ask the exact same question! It’s a relief to hear other ladies’ symptoms are coming and going. Although I’ll still be nervous until my US next week.
  • @cassafrass15 so thankful for this website so we all know we are not alone! My boob tenderness is back with a vengeance, but I will definitely still be anxious until my ultrasound too! When is yours? Mine is on Wednesday, I’ll be 6 weeks 1 day.
  • @ginny_203 Yes! So thankful to not feel alone. Mine is Wednesday, too! I’ll be 6w3d. Good luck and keep us posted!
  • I hope the announcement goes well!!!
  • @purplefan1 everyone was happy but my family is not known to be super emotional bunch. I was hoping for some jumping up and down or screaming or something, but none of that happened! Wish I could post the video. But overall, it went well once everyone figured out what was going on.
  • Had some slight bleeding this morning when I woke up. Called to get the results of my second beta and had to leave a message. Not feeling positive right now. But have to figure out how to get my mind straight for the next 12 hours of work. Wish I could just go back home and sleep all day today.
  • @purplefan1 I am so sorry to hear that. I will be sending you lots of good thoughts this morning that the bleeding stops and results come in great!
  • @purplefan1 so sorry to hear you are bleeding. Thinking of you and hope it subsides very soon!
  • @purplefan1 I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you're able to get answers quickly. Thinking of you today.

  • @purplefan1 I hope the bleeding subsides and you get some positive news from the Dr. Thinking of you.
  • @purplefan1 hope everything is ok!

I got my results back from my betas. 1st was 1034, 2nd was 1691. Going in for a scan today to check viability  Really hoping for the best but expecting the worst of course.
  • @kbrown2385 sorry to hear you're disappointed in the betas :( How far apart were they?
  • Betas were 48 hours apart. I was under the impression they don’t necessarily double in 48 but the dr said it’s “not an appropriate rise” so they want me to come in. I’m still poas because I’m crazy and my tests darkening. I don’t really know what to think.
  • @kbrown2385 @purplefan1 Thinking of you guys and sending up prayers for you both. Hope you get good news soon.
  • @kbrown2385 and @purplefan1 hoping and praying for peace of mind and positive results for you both today
  • @kbrown2385 I hope the scan gives some positive news!! Keep us dated.

Thank you all for the positive thoughts. I appreciate this board so much for all of the good vibes!! Still waiting to hear back from my doctors office. Watch. With my luck I will be unavailable when they call and you know they don't leave messages other than to call back. Ugh. I hate the waiting game. If it isn't going to work out, I just want to know.
  • @purplefan1 keep calling your doctor. My doctor made it very clear that if I had any bleeding I was to call immediately. And if I couldn't get a hold of anyone I was to drive straight there to be seen or go to the ER if it was after hours.  I hope everything is okay.

@kbrown2385 fx for a good scan!!!!

  • @linz36 I'm only about 5 weeks 5 days so if I am losing the pregnancy they wont do anything about it. So it is a sit and wait sort of situation for me.
