How are things going?: so now we wait...I get the feeling this is going to be one of the "longest" 2 weeks ever. I'm working on focusing on the here and now and trying to not get too anxious about the what ifs.

Any questions?: does progesterone lengthen the LP?

they are doing okay. I have a consult with my doctor on Thursday to discuss what we are doing different since this is our second IVF.

@Avrilmai I’m not sure that it lengthens the LP per se, but it will delay a period. Are you on it now for your IUI?

Just, TW for all of it. Everything.

Hello, dear friends. I wish I was gone for longer, but I guess I’m back. And, frankly, I am just so broken about being back. I love you guys. I really missed you guys. But not enough to want to be back so soon. I'm just so angry about everything.

History:

For two whole glorious weeks, everything was perfect. From the moment I got my BFP at home, I just was ecstatic. I always knew the transfer could fail. I knew it was possible nothing would stick. But I really didn't believe anything would go wrong after that. I worried about it, yes. But I honestly didn't expect it. I should have, considering my history. But we just did so much to circumvent this. We knew my previous losses were a combo of progesterone issues and chromo issues from H's DNA frag. But we fixed those. I was on so much progesterone, it was practically coming out of my ears. We did PGS testing. And on top of all that, we did a full-blown immune protocol. Blood thinners and special pills and extra shots and just. SO. MUCH. STUFF. So what the actual eff happened? I thought, with all our preparation, that if we got something to stick, we'd be golden. Anyway, last Sunday I started lightly bleeding. Nothing extreme, but there were a few clots. Obviously I freaked. I had an US the next day, and we saw a gestational sac. I was measuring about a week behind, but, you know, that happens. No source for the bleeding was found. All was well. Until they called with my third beta that they drew that day. The previous beta had been an entire week earlier. In that entire week, it didn't even double. Close, but not quite. And I just knew it was over. They wanted to give it time, so we waited and went back Friday. Cue, longest, worst week of my life. Nothing was found on the US this time. Not even the sac we saw previously. Beta had went from 475 Monday, to 476 Friday. I stopped all the meds, and now I guess we wait. I haven't been bleeding at all, so I guess we just sit here and wait for that to happen. Anyway, my WTF appointment is Friday, so we will see what they recommend. I don't think we have much of a choice but to wait a few months anyway. Work is getting less patient with my time off, so I kinda want it to cool down. I'm trying to decide what to do. We have one PGS-tested normal embryo, and one inconclusive embryo. So should I transfer them or do another ER? Ugh. I wish I didn't have to make this choice. Guys, this fucking sucks.

Anyway, all that to say, I'm back I guess, and I hate it.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): CD 1 over here. Good times. But that means I can make my appointment for my pre IVF testing - SIS, trial transfer (??) and b/w (genetic and infectious disease)

How are things going?: Meh. It's CD 1 so I'm tired and cranky. I'm anxious to get the show on the road, so I called the RE's office to make an appointment - and I got voicemail! How dare they don't they know I'm anxious?!

Any questions?: Is a SIS like an HSG? Would it be done at the office or would I have to go to the hospital like the HSG? (I just want to know how much time to allot for this appointment) Of course I'll ask my doc but just thought I'd ask here

@KristoKekerooni words seem to fail me at this point; I hate that you're back and I get the anger. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Sending you strength in this difficult time. This sucks. Be sad, be angry and know that you have so much support if/when you need it.

@beachbunnyxo123 yes, I am and I'm trying to get a feel for what to expect. I hope your appointment Thursday brings some clarity or at least a path forward. I hate that you're here too.

How are things going?: Good! You all know how worried I was about the timing because we are going on (a much needed) vacation on Wednesday. It worked out perfectly and I triggered last night and going in tomorrow for IUI. Using a donor adds a layer of complexity to all of the IF emotions but overall super excited.

Any questions?: Did everyone bring DH into the room with them? I am worried they won't let him in, but that's not a thing right..?

AFM just heard back from the RE - Next Wednesday for my testing. And to look at a calendar to make sure I can even start in June - going to be out of town the first week of July, so I may have to push it out since I won't be able to be on the meds and not be monitored

@Avrilmai I believe progesterone can lengthen LP, especially for a LP defect/low progesterone.

@leilee101 MH was in the room for both IUIs and all ultrasounds. No one batted an eye.

How are things going?: Things have been crazy with work, thesis and life in general. Though I think some of it was self made in order to take my mind off this cycle which was a bust as we were trying on our own and I had a weak ovulation. AF came this morning. Bang on time. Feeling like I need to eat all the chocolate right now. And sweets. And French fries.

I actually have a list in the Notes on my iphone. I started it about 10 years ago and it has moved from phone to phone. The things have changed a bit over time. DH was added to the top of the list just a few weeks after I met him. My family. Friends. Our house and the life are making. The amazing places we've been to. DH's amazing cooking skills. On tough days I need to look at it several times. On other tough days I can't bring myself to open it.

@rvamom315 hey cycle day buddy, CD1 here too. Good luck with all the testing this month.

@beachbunnyxo123 so I've done quite a bit of research on HGH. @dragonette505 is also a good one for this topic. Quick summary of what I found is that in general for "normal" patients there is no significant difference when using it or not. And since it is very expensive and normally fully out of pocket then it is not advised for most patients. However there is no evidence of harm or worse results when using it. And in a small number of patients it does seem to make a difference - narrowing down who it works for though is definitely far from complete. If you go on the Low AMH board, basically we all swear by it there - most of us won't do a cycle without it, just in case it does help. I know you had a fairy poor response last stim cycle, so if I were in your shoes and could afford it, I would add it in because it might help but it shouldn't do any harm. Feel free to pm me if you want.

@avrilmai all 5 REs that I talked to so far said taking progesterone at the levels I did (crinone once per day) does not affect cycle length if you are not normally progesterone deficient. And I had every time on the crinone a perfect 14 day LP, just like I do without meds. But I am a sample of one. I was very surprised when AF came whilst I was still using crinone after my first IVF cycle, as I had thought it would not come until I stopped. With an IUI you should have your normal levels of natural progesterone from the corpus luteum too.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Estradriol just went up to 3 times a day today .. then PIO, endometrium inserts and some antibiotic insert

How are things going?: Other than realizing our shore house was taken over by mice, ok

we haven’t been down there in a few months and we get down and find f*cking droppings of course I was Practically in tears about it. H purged and ripped apart the house cleaning eventually after I calmed down I helped. I THINK we found the point of entry and put steel wool there. H took care the hard parts like putting something in th attic and where they decided to make a F*CKING NEST! I’m cringing thinking about this but man i don’t even think the cleaning lady could clean like we did yesterday for 8 HOURS straight!!! I also think the estradiol is exaggerating my emotions I went from crying to angry back to crying and apologizing to H for being such a whack job. Bless his heart he’s so freaking understanding it’s one of the reasons I fell In love with him and he’s hot lol OH and to top it off I have A damn stye in my eye!! WTF universe cut me some slack!

Any questions?: anyone else go nuts on Estradriol ? I was On it after my surgery and do not remember feeling this way... at all!!

@jrm_14 I had a tough time this weekend too! I was angry bitter b*tch yesterday!! I think This Estradriol because I can usually give zero f*cks about petty things but man was yesterday was a roller coaster of emotions. It’s ok for us to feel like this , right? Lol

@Avrilmai Yes, it can lengthen lp. IUI treatment cycles will already lengthen it though. The p also supports your body to be able to implant and carry. So, if you were considering whether or not to keep taking it (I noticed on your chart p was only marked for 1dpiui), it would be wise to. Everyone can make their own decisions of course, but I was also found to be low when they checked 7dp my last iui. I started it 3dpiui this time.

Diagnosis (if you've been): pcos, low p

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): tww

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): We did pnv, femara, novarel trigger, iui, p, and levothyroxine

How are things going?: Okay I guess. I'm still nervous that the biggest follicle that was seen the morning of trigger (Thursday) was shown to have ovulated when they checked on Saturday with u/s before doing iui. There were two more mature follicles that hadn't released yet. I don't know if they ever did. My RE says the trigger sometimes takes up to 48 hours to force release, but idk. I wish I had paid for that other u/s to check. I don't feel very hopeful about this cycle. Mh also had a hard time that morning due to a migraine so we didn't get as good of a sample as we normally do.

@suzycupcake we had one slightly lower sample when DH was super sick for the week before, but officially it was still normal so they said no reason to worry. We were doing IVF and could at least then see that they did manage to fertilize, but in addition to the timing issue I can imagine that adds to the stress a lot. With trigger I understood it should be very close to the 36 hours after trigger that you O.

@ndz2018 just think all the estrogen emotions will be worth it very soon!

Thanks @emmasemm My RE didn't seem concerned and said it would be okay. I'm not sure if the trigger made that big follicle release or wtf, but how can two more release after iui if one already released? I'm not sure if they can tell on u/s when that other one released. Perhaps it released that morning, who really knows. I know they cannot know for sure since triggers are 91% effective. That leaves 9%. I'm kicking myself in the a$$ for not requesting another u/s. Ah well....

I know you're right about the sample. I've read things that say a back to back iui offers no statistically significant higher chance (my logic is that less sperm doesn't mean anything if they are moving okay), but we've always gotten 28-31M post wash samples. I think this time was 8. Mh couldn't produce much volume.

@suzycupcake we found the biggest contributor to volume was hydration! When he was sick he was not well hydrated, same thing one other time where he went in the afternoon to give a sample after being at work without a lunch break. The other times in the morning (when he drinks at home with breakfast and then has a bottle in the car with him) we had much better volume. Since then we also noticed similar differences when HIO at home. So now he has to well hydrated for the hour before we get down to it ;-)

How are things going?: Doing better today. Thank you to the ladies who welcomed me to the board over the weekend. I love the supportive vibe I see for one another

Any questions?: How long was your 1st appointment with your RE? I know this may vary by doc but I am taking a long lunch that day to go so want to make sure I have enough time. Or if it is better just to take an afternoon off and go. Not really knowing what to expect.

@Avrilmai Wahoo! How'd it go??
Re: Progesterone...if you're on suppositories, you shouldn't get your period until you stop. PS you will be bloated and your boobs will be bigger and you'll get kind of crampy from it. AKA feel totally KU. Just be warned!

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): ERA/Mock cycle #2

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Everything but the FET. Changing protocol from last month a bit to get us the perfect timing. Doc straight told us this morning that if we did the transfer this month, it wouldn't have worked. So while I'm thankful to be doing the mock cycles, God damn I just want to move forward for real!
So this cycle will be estrace AM/Noon/PM
Scan and bloodwork 4/4 and after that I'll confirm when I'll start my crinone (every day in the morning and noon) and then PIO nightly.

How are things going?: Ok...thankful but bummed. But more thankful. Our doctor seems very confident that this will be the correct protocol for me but still wants to do the biopsy to confirm. But once we have the kinks worked out, he's very hopeful for us and our little babe sticking. So I'm trying to trust in him and just be positive.

@Avrilmai progesterone lengthens my LP. Without it, mine is 9-11 days. With it, mine is 13-14 days.

@KristoKekerooni im still so heartbroken for you. (And feel free to ignore this if you aren’t up to talking about it. I’m still getting to know IVF stuff, but why wouldn’t you transfer the PGS-normal embryo first and then if that didn’t work, do another egg retrieval? Are you supposed to do more egg retrieval’s first?)

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI cycle #2. Upping my Letrozole to 7.5 mg

How are things going?: several bfns and lots of tears this weekend and AF showed up today. I had some symptoms that I hadn’t had before and a huge temp drop that rose back up. I knew that it was probably the progesterone but I stupidly got my hopes up.

@AvrilMai, GL fighting the TWW anxiety. Trying to focus more on the present moment than on what ifs sounds like a good plan, though I know it can be really hard!

@RVAMom315, I haven't had a HSG to compare it to, but I had an SIS done earlier this month and they did it at my RE's office. It only took a couple of minutes.

@emmasemm, I'm expecting AF tomorrow and am right there with you on the cravings for chocolate and French fries. I like the idea of the joy list on your phone, I might have to do that as well!

@ndz2018, yuck about the mice, that's a horrible surprise to have waiting for you! I'm glad YH is being such a great source of support for you, though, and is being understanding about any extra strong emotions you might be feeling right now.

@kobrien827, our first RE appointment was about an hour, but I did take the entire afternoon off and I was happy that I did. After the appointment DH and I went for ice cream and enjoyed both debriefing the appointment together and then just taking it easy.

@50Wife, I can imagine that the continued waiting is so hard! But I'm glad your doctor is so committed to getting everything exactly right for your transfer.

@purplg8r, so sorry for the BFN this time. FX that this next IUI is it for you!

AFM, I'm sorry I was totally MIA this last week. My father has been in the hospital (it's been scary but he's going to be OK) and I've been basically dividing my time between work, the hospital, and my parents' house to help my mom out with things around the house. It's been crazy stressful and IVF has been lurking in the background the whole time...Yikes.

Diagnosis (if you've been): Low AMH and severe oligospermia

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFIVF

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Baseline appointment for IVF is one week from today! Eek!

How are things going?: Better than they were last week! I spent a lot of time on the phone today finalizing IVF details, and the specialty pharmacy is shipping our meds out tomorrow so we'll have them for the appointment next week. I guess the advantage of having so much stress from other sources last week is that I've had less time to freak out about IVF...I may make up for that lost time the rest of this week, though!

Any questions?: I don't think so. I may once this giant package of medications arrives!

@50Wife BUMMER!! I felt the same way when they told me i had to sit out 2 cycles after my surgery but you’ll be surprised how fast time goes!!

@kobrien827 Our first app was a disaster! My H had work emergencies left and right so he had to keep leaving the room to take phone calls, i was soooo pissed off but how am i gonna complain when he works his ass off to make our lives nice.. the appointment lasted about 2 hours. It included a chat with the doc(both our history’s), an US , lots of BW for both of us(including genetic screening) and then we sat down with our nurse for a while to talk about a few things... testing , vitamins to take, etc.

@suzycupcake I’m sorry you’re not feeling hopeful this cycle. Keep your head up who knows it could be a Bfp FX!!

@purplg8r , I think they recommend another ER so we can bank embryos. I think we probably will end up just transferring what we have first. A lot of people bank so they can get as many embryos as possible, but those tend to be AMA, or DOR, which doesn't really apply since I am only 26 and my DOR is fine. I have no idea, really.

@suzycupcake It wasn’t a question of whether to keep taking it on not, I’m following doctor’s orders on that one. Just trying to prepare myself mentally if there was a possibility of a longer LP. I don’t have a LP defect, so I’m thinking my LP should be around the same length. More of a way to protect myself and not get too hopeful if the LP goes longer. KWIM.

@kobrien827 welcome to the club no one wants to join. My initial RE appointment was about an hour. There was no physical exam. We sat down with the RE in a consult room. She reviewed my records (there was a very long pt history that we had to complete and submit one week prior to the appt.)

@50Wife the actual procedure went well. Now we just wait. I think it is great that your doc is so confident and is making every effort to ensure this little on sticks. I’ve got everything crossed for you.

@purplg8r hugs lady. And thanks for the info. Also, I don’t think it was stupid to get your hopes up, only human.

@Avrilmai Gotcha. I can tell you that on natural cycles, my lp was always consistent 12/13 days. I'm on my 4th iui now. All treatment cycles have lengthened my lp to 14 or 16 days. What did you think of the iui? I think I asked you that somewhere else, but not sure if you responded. It's nice to have another lady on ttgp who is doing iui with me

I’m not going to tag every last person that commented on the new RE consult

. It was .... interesting. Interesting in a “WTF just happened?!” sort of way. He was crass & blunt. Many would likely find him offensive. He says things that people think but don’t say. Whomever can message me if you’re super interested. Be sure to pick up your jaw from the floor afterwards!

However, I think we are going to go with him for 1-2 more IUI injectable cycles. They weren’t on the table with the old RE. Since a few things changed, we are comfortable proceeding with this. IVF would still be along the same timeline if these fail.

@suzycupcake I paid for the extra monitoring u/s ouunlast IUI cycle. At the time, it felt like a must. In the end, whatever the outcome, nothing really changes. The IUI still happens. There is rarely a change for protocol moving forward based on the extra u/s. And now I’m out $200 for “peace of mind.”

I hate tagging on mobile and there are so many things that I want to say. But many hugs going around.

Diagnosis (if you've been): not yet, just got home from first RE appointment.

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Met with RE, I like him. DH didn’t come and we kind of got in an argument about it but whatever. RE gave me an order for a semen analysis and I’m supposed to call on CD1 to come in on CD2-3. He told me to get back taking PNV, but I’m just so over it after a year and feeling like they were useless (and thus a waste of money).

How are things going?: meh

Any questions?: Not yet. Mostly just worried that DH won’t be able to “complete” a sample. But not much I can do about that.

GTKY: What thing (or things) bring you joy? (if you had to create a "joy list" to carry around as a reminder what would be on your list?)

@JennyColada I knew my H was gonna have an issue with his sample at the clinic so we got a kit to take home as long as you get it there within 30min and keep it warm(next to his body) he’ll be good.

@JennyColada, my husband was able to do the sample at home too and I think it really helped him with his anxiety over it. So if that’s an option I would definitely recommend it. I’m sorry YH didn’t come with you to the appointment...Is he just not ready to acknowledge you’re at that point?

AFM, my IVF medications and syringes arrived today! DH is horrified by the huge needles for the progesterone. (As am I, frankly!) It is a little crazy to see this giant pile of meds and know that I’m hoping to take all of it over such a short amount of time...Yikes.

@Augusta108 he was kind of the one even pushing for testing. But he just thought since he’s not doing any analysis this time that the meeting was for me and not for him. So when a last minute business meeting came up he didn’t decline it.
