@amys614 would it be better if you asked them not to show you the BP monitor while they’re doing it, not say anything about it and recheck it at the end if they need to? If them weighing you also causes you stress, can you ask them not to tell you the weight or say anything about it until after they have obtained a BP?
Also, are they using a cuff that fits your arm appropriately? They have rechecked mine a couple of times with a larger cuff and it does make a difference.
Also you could request a manual BP so that the cuff doesn’t over inflate and give possibly false high readings.
@2589 I'm not really sure which part of being at the office stresses me out. I don't necessarily FEEL nervous about anything in my mind, but my body gets my heart rate up for it, so i know its happening. I weigh myself at home so it's not a surprise about what it's going to say so I don't feel super bothered by it, either.
I will definitely request a manual reading next time. They are using the larger cuff but that automatic thing they have, inflates until it feels like my arm will fall off. They used an automatic in L&D too, but you can tell it's a much different machine, and probably better. I didn't know that overinflation is a possible issue. Every time they use that thing on wheels, it squeezes the crap out of it and gives me a high number. Good to know, thanks!
@amys614 sometimes the machines are a little whacko- like if the last person it checked had a systolic of 187 it’s probably gonna pump up around 200 just to make sure it catches the top number- the machine doesn’t realize it’s a new patient- idk, in the hospital we recheck many, many BPs manually so I’d say it’s worth a try!
My H sent me this article today. Babies R Us isn’t going to pay out the endless reward bonuses. It’s not surprising to me but really sucks for anyone that has their registry at BRU.
Why did I get asked to take off my super thin dry wick zip up at the airport when everyone else was allowed to keep their thick sweatshirts on?! They must have thought my bunp was suspicious. I hate airports!!
One if my classes was filmed today so that another teacher could observe, and watching yourself is just so awkward! I was like good lord, who is that lady sharking around with a giant belly.
I decided to jazz up our evening with a first day of spring “party.” We had spring rolls, salad with spring mix, pesto pasta, and lemon bars. It was fabulous. DD colored “signs” and taped them to the wall.
Spring has started with another day of no school for DS cause of snow. It started with a 2hr delay... which I was ok with. I still wasn't sending him (he goes for 3 hrs, so pointless). Then they closed. Now another day to make up. He's suppose to be off the fri before Memorial Day wkend which was perfect cause that day or thurs are baby day. Bet he loses it now.
DS said he thinks winter scared spring away. think you're right kid

@jsl82 it was mango! But I only ate a little of it before switching with my husband because he forgot that he doesn't like the lemon that he got... feel like I already have a child lol

I shouldn't be laughing but how does one forget they don't like lemon? :P
I am 100% giving into cravings today. I'm exhausted and bored so it's a morning of cinnamon rolls and Cheetos while watching parks and recreation. No shame in this game.

@elsie42 I laughed a little at that too. MH is 100% my biggest child (and probably will be for life).
@MissKittyDanger Rita's adds bits of fruit to the lemon and cherry flavors that I just don't like- but I like other brands of Cherry and Lemon water ice so I kinda get how he could forget. Also, he's a man... and they are basically huge children.
@Amphibious22 so jealous... I have had a morning full of trying to work with a toddler around (nearly impossible). Parks and Rec with junk food sounds so much better.
@elsie42 hahaha...That cracks me up. Something my H would forget too...
As for me, my visit home to see family has been less than ideal. DS has been feeling crummy (super fussy, fever, cold symptoms, refusing to eat) so we haven't done much of anything. After a trip to urgent care this morning, it turns out the poor baby has double ear infections (his first - at least we made it 18 months w/o one..) So I'm trapped under a sleeping toddler all day. Good excuse to rest too, I guess Hopefully the antibiotics kick in and he's back to himself soon.
@elsie42 love Ritas. We used to have one within walking distance and would go almost every night in the summer.
@katelynrae86 The antibiotics will do their job soon. Motrin is a wonder drug in the meantime.
The snow is actually beautiful today. Our neighbors came over this morning so the kids/dads could play in the snow. We broke out the Baileys for the adults but I drank hot cocoa with the kids. Kind of a fun mid-week treat to have a party. (Beats our usual Wednesday routine of going to the library!)
At a conference this week and will hopefully have more downtime to catch up here soon. Work has been crazy lately. Even though I know maternity leave will be rough with a newborn, 3.5 and 5 year old, I'm really looking forward to it.
First Son - born 2013
Second Son - born 2014 - Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV). First open heart surgery at 5 days old. He's had 3 open heart surgeries and several other procedures and is currently doing amazing. Third Son - due June 9, 2018
@dinodna3 that's my only option right now, the tiny ones. With DH and 2 kids, I doubt I'd even get a bite! Lol I'll just have to wait until summer, when they're large and cheap. It won't technically be a pregnancy craving then, but I'm always down for watermelon.
I finally got insurance straightened out so I was able to schedule DS an appt with the speech pathologist. His appt is June 8th. I'm due June 13th, and will be having a Csection somewhere around 39 weeks. His referral ends June 15th, so if he misses that appt, we have to start all over. Plus, it's 1.5 hours away, so even if baby comes before then, I'm gonna be taking a newborn on a long trip- and my babies have never liked being in the car until they're older. So.. That's now a major stress point for me. I've already let DH know to talk to his work because no matter what, one of us has to be at that appt with DS. Even if I'm in the hospital, he will have to go, lol.
@krashke in my dream it was one of Pat McGrath’s lipsticks, but I’ve never tried them. And I don’t even know what her color options are. But now I’ve got to find some in a Sephora to see if Dream Doxie is a truth seer.
@doxiemoxie212 yes do share if you find the magical potion. I am pale so I feel like so many options just look too "in your face" on my skin tone. I tend to stick to balms tints, etc, although I have a few tarte lip paints that are decent. This past weekend my friend and I went to Sephora and I finally bit the bullet and bought that Dior lip glow. It's not that special. Definitely not $34 special. Womp womp
@amys614 I have that same issue, being pretty pale myself. The only lipstick I have found that I like is NARS Dolce Vita sheer, but it's almost the exact same shade as my lips, making it kinda silly to even mess with. I wear it when I wanna feel a little fancy.
@amys614 you can return anything to sephora within 60 days so if you don’t love it, return it!! @kfren dolce vita is liiiife but I prefer the matte pencil version to the lipstick or gloss.
I used to hate myself in bold lipsticks but it honestly just takes getting used to. And often more blush than you’d put on normally. Lisa Eldridge recos putting blush on AFTER lipstick for this reason.

Ask for manual bp.
Glad everything checked out okay!!
