Re: February 2018 IVF

  • @mcgeeva Yes! Just starting estrogen has given me hope...oddly enough! But estrogen alone makes me feel good in my own world. It's strange, but it's the best medication I've had to be on :)

  • Not that I remember but my hair from the pcos is always falling out. There was no full great pregnancy hair either I think I’m missing something or it’s my hormones are super jacked to begin with

@mcgeeva It feels slow now but it will go really fast come soon. It's good to hear from you. Are you feeling okay though? I thought I read something about hypertension. Sorry it took me so long to reply. I'm not seeing all of my notifications, the more I frequent different areas.

I'm doing alright. We did iui yesterday so now we wait. It was a bit stressful being at a new clinic with new people. At first, it was fine because my RE also practices there so I was able to see her at the beginning of my cycle and at each followup, but she isn't there on weekends.

How's your partner doing in all of this?

  • @kristimh80 oh you will just let them know when they are old enough to get it. We drive past our doctors office all the time and I tell my sons this is the doctor that gave mommy you. And this time around taking pics of stuff to share later when they are old. Def worth it in the end but something people don’t get unless they go through the struggle themselves. How lucky they are to just get knocked up and have that money when the baby comes va paying out the butt before every having them.

  • @suzycupcake yep checked for hypertension but got a baby of a doctor so told him I’ll wait until I see my ob if I get pregnant bc it is an issue since I had so many problems when pregnant with it before. So we shall see. My husband has been really great but honestly we have been through this before so honestly I don’t expect much of him or ask him to attend anything but retrieval and a sono bc there are just too many apts and with kids he needs to help with them. I think this time around he is doing this more for me so he’s being as supportive as he can but I’m sure if it doesn’t work out it just means I’ll be talking to my therapist some more :) I had my boys bdays today so that has help pass the time.

Good luck in the next week that’s so exciting! In some ways I miss iui bc the process was faster! I hope the baby sticks for you so you can put this process behind you.

  • @mcgeeva I'm glad he is being so supportive and helping with the kids. He sounds like a great husband!

Thank you. Yea, it seems iui does happen fast because follicles pop up and you gotta get going, but the wto process feels like forever for me personally.

  • @mcgeeva Not only that, but I never imagined what we'd have to go through after a positive test. It's ridic to get one only to find out it didn't stay  :(

Awwwwww, it's so beautiful that you do that with your sons. This topic is so not talked about very much for some reason in life. It's good that your babes will have an understanding of it and will be able to share about it.

What are you up to this week?

  • suzycupcake  Oh I know I completely get it. After two that didn't work out last summer I don't think I will be positive unless I pass 12 weeks. I will never fully understand how people can handle going through that so many times. I still remember that stupid dreaded phone call from my doctor last summer sitting at daycare crying because something didn't feel right and them telling me my betas were high and not to worry. Yet I had the worst back cramps I've ever felt and couldn't stop bleeding until Sunday when they confirmed it was done. I want them to get it. Maybe it's just me but I swear I have a different bond with my boys because of it. It has also made me complete mush when I think of my kids and I also loved every minute of pregnancy. So many take that crap for granted. Yes the sickness may suck if you get it, but how many of use would kill for that you know. Sorry this is all TMI..clearly I can't focus this week.

I'm working from home today but having a hard time getting my work done. I want the next two weeks to pass so I know what's going on with my pgs testing and have a plan going forward. Maybe exercise is the answer. I have tball tonight so I'm sure between that it will be busy till bed time.

What the heck is everyone else doing to pass the time??

  • I'm staring at the clock waiting for the next 30 minutes to pass so I can leave work.  FET is tomorrow at 11am.  I've been holding out on watching the new Ricky Gervais Netflix special so I would have something to laugh at post transfer.  And we invested in a new boar/RPG game that will take some time to learn and distract us for the two-week wait.

*TW loss mentioned * Hey everyone. I found out yesterday that this pregnancy is over. On Thursday I went for an US convinced we would see the gestational sac after my betas had reached 1725 the day before.
We saw a tiny dot but the doctor wasn't sure if that was it, saying it was probably too early. I had a bad feeling since I'd always heard that when betas reach 2000 you should be able to see something. So yesterday I checked my betas again and they'd dropped to 328.

To say I'm devastated would be an understatement. I tried really hard not to get my hopes up this time but after the first three blood tests went so well I really began to think we had a chance.
I  tried to go to work today but I just burst into tears as soon as I arrived so I went home.

I'm trying to focus on the positives. We still have 2 snow babies and should be able to do a FET once my next cycle starts, I'm guessing in May sometime.
And I know that we're so lucky to have the option of doing another round of IVF if necessary.

But nothing can take away the pain of a loss. This is my 3rd MC and it doesn't get any easier.

    I'm 34, SO 39
    TTC since July 2015
Unexplained infertility - delayed/weak ovulation but don't know why
BFP Feb 2016 MC at 6.5 weeks
    Started Clomid November 2016
BFP March 2017 (third cycle on Clomid) HCG failed to rise, MC at 6 weeks.
IUI July 2017 BFP which turned out to be CP
    IVF scheduled for Feb 2018

  • @Orlaa I’m so sorry for your loss. Be kind to yourself.

  • @Orlaa I'm so sorry for your loss. That is heartbreaking. Take some time to yourself, don't worry about work or next steps yet - there's plenty of time later to be concerned about that. I'm just so sorry, I wish there was something of comfort I could say, but I realise there is nothing. Take care of yourself <3

  • @Orlaa I am so sorry. We are all here if you need anything!
    @ChristenMA83 congrats on the transfer!
  • I'm so sorry @Orlaa that is heartwrenching. I hope you can give yourself a bit of time to grieve and regroup before you plan next steps.

@ChristenMA83 congrats, transfer buddy. Mine went well. They gave me Valium, which I greatly enjoyed. My doctor said I looked like I was kicked back drinking a martini when he found me reading the paper in the lounge chair in the waiting room  :D It looks from our pic like the blastocyst was about to hatch and he said it was very sticky in the catheter, so hoping that's good.

Increased PIO and had bad cramps last night and this morning and super grouchy. At work with 14 inches of snow coming in NYC. Grr.  Hope everyone has a good day!

  • So like a crazy person I just emailed the genetic company to see if they received my samples and to see where they are in the process. I couldn't help myself!!! It's been forever since my retrieval.

greenhillgirl I know you all are getting it bad. I have family up there but snow up there is just another day. We are getting 8-12 here and everything seems to shut down in VA except I have to work remote today.

    Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born.

  • Ooh, what part of VA do you live in? @mcgeeva I'm from VA and my family lives there.  They said we can leave at 2 but my above ground subway is already frozen. Just so grumpy and annoyed. That is the one NYC thing I can't adjust to after 15 years of living here is that everything happens even in a foot of snow. Working remotely sounds okay!

  • @greenhillgirl northern va outside Tysons corner. That’s redic but honestly I hate the metro and expect nothing less then constant issues! It is but sucks bc it’s mandatory overtime this week and with kids out of school it’s a pita. Poor kids at the gym program bc I can’t do my work with them but need to get them early enough they can have snow time. Bet everything will close tomorrow too.

  • @mcgeeva oh yea NoVa is not up for snow at all. I'm from the Shenandoah Valley area and grew up going to Tysons and Fair Oaks :)  Good luck with the kids and balancing it all. I'm leaving soon to go have my half snow day. Wish me luck on the subway!
  • Good luck!!

Do you guys feel sore after progesterone shots well? I was doing estrogen shots (still am) and they were not painful at all. Now that I started PIO, my bum is already sore and painful to touch. Only after two shots! And, I will (hopefully!) need to continue for another 2-3 months, twice per day  :s:s

I do warm up the oil, massage the area and put heating pad on the spot after...

@mcgeeva I used to live by the tysons corner area too. I now live in sunny southern California :)
  • Ilky I was told the progesterone shot will hurt like hell. Yeah this area is a cluster but so is CA. But lord what I would do for some warm weather! I actually work for my companies SF office :)

  • @Ilky Haven't started mine yet, but I heard a lot of girls will use a heating pad to warm the area, warm up the oil in their hands, then  inject and massage the area after so don't get any knots and soreness. They also say to use the heat pad after too.

@ilky If you're getting super sore you probably aren't massaging or heating for long enough. I do it for 30 minutes alternating. I recommend a massage pillow from the drug store ($30-40) alternating with a heating pad and not just where you did the shot but below, too. I'm on day 7 of PIO and my pain has been very minimal.

thank you ladies for the suggestions. I'll look into the massage pillow. Yeah, I dont massage it long enough especially, in the mornings when i rush to get to work.

@greenhillgirl are you doing one or two shots per day? I seriously think my bum will be so sore at the end of 2-3 months i' wont be able to sit or walk ahah
  • @llky Where in SoCal are you?  Hasn’t been sunny lately, but I’ll always take some precipitation because we need it so badly.

  • I think the build-up of hormones is finally getting to me, or I'm PMSing.  The last two days I have such a short fuse at work and at home.  Things are getting to me way more than usual.  The answer on 3/30 can't come soon enough.  If this cycle doesn't work I think I may take a month off to rebalance.  My bum is just now starting to get sore as well after 8 PIO shots.  ... Grouchy rant over   :s
