Re: Randomly Randoms {3/12}

  • @LaceyBee522 I feel you on the not wanting to read stories ... I'm assuming from everyone's post it's pretty shocking lol FX babies keep cookin :)

  • I was doing laundry last night and realized one thing I've been avoiding buying - because I don't really need any different ones - is undies.

    Already decided .... after baby's born and all is healed, I'm buying myself new undies. I don't wanna buy any now in case. {murphy's law, buy cute new undies .... something ruins them lol}
  • marcus7676            - that is basically everything that is going through my head- the logistics.  Like you said...If it is truly go time they won't turn you away, but being that my doc doesn't go there I doubt I can pre-register (I did last time at the other hospital and it does make everything so easy).  THey don't and wouldn't have my records- although with as fast as everything went last time they just verbally asked me as they were hooking up my IV.

I'm looking now to see if I can print out the registration paperwork and just have it ready to go...

Okay so I've done pretty much nothing at work today- except read the wheelchair story. Scary, but since DD took 18 hours of in hospital labor and 12 hours of BH leading up to active labor, I'm pretty sure this will never happen to me.

DD was vaginal, so unless little man is breech I won't be scheduling a c-section, but what worries me about having on is not being able to pick up DD afterwards.  She's only 14 months old right now, and needs to be carried a lot still, plus she likes to be held (while I am standing), so I need to be able to hold her.  A scheduled c-section does have it's appeals though- like it would be nice to know ahead of time, this is the day I'm having this baby.  Planning maternity leave, making sure DD is looked after while I'm at the hospital, making sure everything is ready (as ready as it can be) for baby's arrival all sound amazing- it's just the recovery that gets to me.

In my not working time today I saw that I have 2 packages due to arrive today.  We got the Halo Bassinest and I ordered a light switch plate from Etsy.  I'm starting to get excited about getting baby gear- maybe I'll stop procrastinating and actually get everything set up for baby boy.

  • Guys, did we not create a FTM thread for March? I see the STM one, but can't find FTM. Let me know if I'm just missing it.

  • @jsl82 Never day never! DD took about as long as yours but my entire labor from the first contraction to birth was less than 4 hours with DS. If they made me wait to actually check-in and pay before they brought me back, he would have been born in the wheelchair.

  • @krashke The closeness is simultaneously exciting and terrifying!
  • Jelly of all of you that pre-registration matters at all. I was told by my OB and the people in our birth class that the hospitals here in NYC will make you pre-register, but they never care once you're actually there, and they make you register again.  :|

This whole April deal is making me realize I should probably get on top of registration .... I've had the docs to pre-register since end of December lol
    "oh I have time"
Uhm .... maybe not as much as I think lol

For reference I ended up reading wheelchair story. HOLY CRAP!
  • @Austenista Holy $#@!. That is unreal. Poor lady!!!
  • @Austenista that is crazy! What a whirlwind that would have been, all in like two hours!

@doxiemoxie212 we will have to compare notes about Bradley again but we have a section on emergency home birth. I don't think they advise delivering the placenta at home because of the risk of hemorrhage but they also don't want you to cut or clamp the cord so if emergency responders haven't arrived yet and the placenta is coming there isn't much you can do.

  • Is anyone else to scared to go read the wheelchair story? With my first I wanted to read/watch/hear every birth story, but this time around I'm more hesitant...weird.

@dinodna3 That's what I'm afraid of! Labor with DS was 40+ hours so I assume this one will be long too. I'm all for a shorter labor this time but 4 hours seems like a whirlwind.

I'm most worried about a quick labor if she comes early, because of plans for DS. My sis will be here from week 39 to 40, then my mom from my due date on, so she's got to keep baking until at least week 39. At least if it's a crazy long labor, my mom can probably get here (6 hour drive away and I labored at home for 12 hours last time). I have a couple friends who are on board to watch him in case of emergency,  but I really don't want to ask them. He'll only be 20 months and has never been watched by anyone but family (he still doesn't like to be held by anyone but DH and I so it probably won't be a fun experience)...It sounds crazy, but I'm more preoccupied with how he will handle being apart from us than I am about birthing this new  LO.
  • @katelynrae86 yeah I'm definitely not reading it. I don't wanna make myself anxious about stuff when I don't need to lol

  • @katelynrae86 somewhat similar to your sentiments- I’m more worried about myself having to leave DD behind with my parents than I am about giving birth  :# she loves them and is with them frequently so I know she won’t mind, it’s just that I think I’m going to have a hard time saying goodbye to her for the last time as my only baby. Oh sh*t, I’m getting teary just thinking about it.

  • @catlady1215 I didn’t have a name for two weeks after I was born sooooooo worst case scenario you wait a while  :D
  • @doxiemoxie212 we've been talking names since 12 wks and still stuck, I don't even know if waiting till after he comes will even help haha!

  • @catlady1215 we don’t have names either. We have names but nothing I’m truly excited for. DS didn’t have a name until the day before I went into labor so I’m not too worried, but both my H and I are so picky that it’s tough.
  • Finally read the wheelchair story- omg. That is straight up crazy. My sister was very nearly born like that because no one listened to my mom when she said she baby was coming.

    Afm-
My 5yo told me today that she's worried that the new baby means I won't love her anymore, because that's what happened in the movie  (stupid Boss Baby). I reminded her that it didn't happen with her brother and won't happen with this baby. And ftr, I hated Boss Baby before, but now it's flat out banned from my house.
  •  @May14th2011 We hated Boss Baby for that reason too! The baby scared DD too so fortunately we haven’t had to watch again!

  • @marcus7676 glad I'm not alone!! DS didn't have a name till the night before we left the hospital... when they said 'you might want to fill out these birth certificate papers' lol. I'd even be happy with multiple names we know we love.. but not sure we're there. I worry we're settling.

  • @may14th2011 ugh! That would kill me! I tell ds he's my favorite and I love him the most all the time. But lately I've been saying 'you know what happens in may though?' 'I'll have TWO favorites and love you both the most!' So now when I ask him about May, he just automatically tells me that.

I'm not in NYC but I've preregistered at my hospital both previous pregnancies and both times I've still had to sit and fill out lots of paperwork while moaning through contractions... I've actually been meaning to ask my OB / someone at the hospital about it...

  • I'm trying to keep up with this board but it's 3 days and 4 pages in and I forget who has said what!

Thank you for the Fairlife after opening date tip...as I dump half a container down the sink!

I didn't even realize that the older kid in Boss Baby feels like his parents stop loving him...thankfully, DD doesn't get that yet. Hopefully all of your older kiddos don't have that fear.

I'm hoping I make the cut for a private board/fb group. Live tits were mentioned as a criteria, does anyone notice if theirs are working or not? Mine dont seem to be.

Afm - single parents are amazing and you deserve a gold friggen medal and whatever else you want! I've been solo for almost a week and I'm ready to jump ship. I just want a break

  • Ok, just read the wheelchair story. WTF!
  • Apparently I need to read this wheelchair story.

With dd I didn't pre-reg... so stood at the front hospital desk in labor... they were like, oh what are you coming in for.... I was like... ummm to have this baby??  Granted, I feel like I handled contraction pain pretty well...
We are so excited to grow our family!
