  • I got lazy with DS2 and he was usually changed on the couch in the living room so all of his diapers just went in the trash can in the kitchen. Poor second kid.
+1 to this. We had a changing station set up in the living room, and would just dump the diapers in the kitchen trash can. When she was solo breastfeeding, poops didn't smell. When she started eating solids, she was only pooping once or twice a day, so it didn't stink up the whole house all day. We would throw it in a plastic bag, and then into the kitchen trash, and empty the trash can every night for the most part or stick it out in the garage until it was full.
  • We change DS in the living room right now, on the floor. He likes to try to escape too much now for us to attempt diaper changes on any kind of raised surface.

I think we'll set up the Pack n Play with the changing table thingy in the living room when baby girl arrives since we're in a 2 story, then have a dresser up in her room with a changing pad on it.

And diaper pails will probably have to be in the garage or something because that's like my worst fear about a very curious toddler and poopy newborn diapers... :s

@mrsbubbles-2 My dogs loved DS’s poopy diapers and would go to any lengths to get them out of the trash. I eventually bought a heavy wooden trash can with lid, and we threw them in the kitchen trash. The dogs couldn’t knock over the wooden can, and they couldn’t lift the lid. Best purchase ever.

ETA: One thing I liked about cloth diapers was that the dogs never destroyed them. They would lick the cloth diapers if they found a dirty one, but they never ripped them to shreds like they did with disposables.
  • Secretstapler I was thinking we’d get one of those with the standing bar too. DS will be 3 but I figure if we go to the zoo or something he’ll need a break from walking. I also plan to wear often, but also think there are times I’ll need a stroller.
How far along are you? How big is baby?

20 weeks today. I think the size of a banana.

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?
DS is two, he’ll be 3 in June.,

    Rants/Raves?
Potty training blows. I really want to go to yoga today but I’m not sure if DS should go to the childcare in underwear, or if I put a diaper on him for that hour. I know I should probably just stay home, but man, I need some yoga!

    Questions?
    I don’t think so.

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be?
This question is always hard for me! Right now, Queen Elizabeth II, but I think that’s because I’m watching The Crown on Netflix right now. There’s so many people I’d want to meet!
  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 15+4. Orange

Age(s) of other kid(s)? DS will be 3 in May

Rants/Raves? Rave: We had such a fun weekend! DS had so much fun with his cousins and my sister and I had a blast at the concert!!! It was hard to come back to normal this week.

    Questions? Nope!

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be? Stephen Hawking

  • In regards to changing pads, tables, diapers, etc....
We always changed DS in his room on the changing table because it was right off of our living room. His diaper pail and all the wipes, diapers, diaper rash cream were all in there.
Now we are in a 2 story house with all bedrooms upstairs, so the dynamic has changed. We will still have a changing pad on top of the dresser in DS #2 room for MOTN, after bath changes. We will probably set up the PnP with the changer downstairs for diaper changes. Right after my repeat c/s I know I won't want to get down on the floor for each diaper change. The couch works, but if it's messy I don't want to deal with that! We will have the diaper pail out on the deck, just outside the french doors off the kitchen. DNW that smell in our downstairs or DS #1 trying to mess with it!
My only concern is I'm not sure what DS #2 will then sleep in at night in our room. My plan was the PnP, but if we use that downstairs.... DS #1 slept in the RnP for the first 2 months until we moved him to the crib because of reflux, so I feel like whatever I plan on probably won't happen anyway! Ha.

  • haha @lolog531 add me to the team kid can sleep wherever he wants as long as he sleeps club.  DS slept in the RnP until he was scaring me because I thought he might roll out of it.  But he slept so much better in there!
  • @livinthesunnylife I'm glad I am not the only one who allowed most sleep to happen in the RnP! That thing saved us the first few months!! DS hated laying flat from night 1 at home - he screamed all night until DH finally put him in the boppy lounger on the floor and he laid next to him all night. It was kind of adorable to see the 2 of them like that, but oh man that first night was rough! RnP FTW.

  • Also, I find it ironic that I said yesterday the one person I'd like to meet is Stephen Hawking and I woke up this morning to the news he had passed away. I had a very close family member pass away from ALS, so I always admired him so much for beating the odds with that on top of everything else. It's a sad day.
