  • How far along are you? How big is baby? Umm 19w, mango.

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?

    L is 2.5, E is 15 months.

Rants/Raves? FU DST. And morning dentist appointments. I got a call last week that they were reviewing my file, and saw that they didn’t do a root canal correctly. So of course I have to make an extra trip an hour away so they can fix it. BUT the only time I can fit it in, is Game Day for my softball team, and 7am the day after DST. Ugh.

I did get to few some outside kicks last night. H can’t ever feel them, but it was really nice to let LO kick my hand while falling asleep. Questions?

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be? Hmmm Idk. Most of the ‘famous’ people I’d like to meet aren’t famous outside sports/livestock circles.

Like @princesslockness  DST always throws us off. DS went to sleep an hour later, but woke up at the same time. 3 hours later he’s taking a nap. He usually just takes one nap in the afternoon. Idk what’s going to happen today.
    Questions?
Anyone else find pushing the stroller to be uncomfortable at this point. We’re going to the zoo today, and I think I’m just going to wear him in the TULA and let him walk with his backpack leash on some. Is that crazy?

Rants/Raves? Dh said the he didn't think the name Oliver was bad, and probably the best one I suggested so far, so I'm telling everyone when he's around that it is the baby's name in hopes that if I tell too many people he won't try to change it. So my rave is we named the baby

***Editing bc idk where the rest of my comment went....

    Questions? Nope

Gtky- Rob Thomas, I'm such a huge fan.

@mrsbubbles-2 that speaks volumes of your relationship with him that he felt welcome to open up about all of that. I hope it keeps up <3

@ecwk Will you be having a party? If so, what theme?

  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 18 weeks- artichoke

    Age(s) of other kid(s)? Almost 2

Rants/Raves? Still seriously over the night back pain. Hoping my first chiropractor appt today helps me!

Also, I’m hating having to save up ALL my PTO for maternity leave. DS is not feeling the best today and I felt guilty having to send him to daycare anyway because I don’t have the PTO to burn.

Questions? MIL says I must get a two kiddo stroller once LO arrives because she says DS will want to ride if sibling is riding. DS hasn’t wanted anything to do with his stroller since he was able to walk. Do you think it’s worth buying a new stroller to accommodate two?

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be? Hm... that’s a toughy!

19 weeks this week.  Not sure

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?

    Rants/Raves?
DS is definitely regressing or having some issues about this baby coming.  He's doing things he hasn't done in years. Getting hysterical at bedtime about me being with him and not going anywhere else, etc.

    Questions?
I may or may not have a UTI.  It's inconclusive and I have to wait 2-3 days for another test to come back.  I've never had one EVER so I don't really know what to expect.  My DR wanted me to take a urine test because I had emailed last week saying I felt like I was leaking a bit more than normal.

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be?
Oh geez, I don't even know.  I'm big into WWII stuff so maybe Dick Winters from the Band of Brothers book/mini-series.

Rants/Raves? I love that I can feel outside kicks now, I just wish I was feeling them more! Being selfish lol. It’s so reassuring to my PGAL brain feeling the movements.

    Questions? Nope!

Rants/Raves? Well I ranted in the bitchfest about my insurance or lack thereof and my stupid foot. My raves are just how adorable my kids are. I've been dealing with so much stress with my parents the past few weeks now that it's letting up I'm finally able to be myself more and my kids are just such wonderful humans.

    Rants/Raves?
Rant: Today is my 34th day in a row with a debilitating daily headache. I would love to have just ONE day off. I've given up on strategies to try to help - no caffeine, more caffeine, Tylenol, no Tylenol, eating more, eating nothing, drinking 8 glasses of water, changing what I eat. Nothing makes any difference.
Rave: my awesome clinic coordinator managed to reschedule 100% of my patients tomorrow so I don't have to drive in a blizzard to a clinic where no one was likely to show up. Every other time we have a storm it seems like there are always 1 or 2 people we can't get ahold of. So, I'm looking forward to a day at home with my DH and DS drinking hot chocolate.

    Questions?
Is anyone doing a registry for second baby? I don't think we need anything and honestly it hadn't occurred to me, but I shared the news of this pregnancy with some extended family over the weekend and two different people asked me.

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be?
This is lame but honestly I'm not interested in meeting anyone famous because I'm pretty introverted and I would have NO idea what to do/say. It would just be awkward.

  • @mrsbubbles-2 Your whole post gave me the smiles :)

@redheadbride15 we did a registry, but only for the discounts. We really don't need much of anything, but the stuff we need is kind of pricey (carseat), so we get the discount at the end.

How far along are you? How big is baby? 17 weeks today! The size of a game controller.

    Age(s) of other kid(s)? DD is 2.5

Rants/Raves? All week we've been trapped inside with DD, and I think it went really well. DD has been a little bit of a pill lately, but I held my shit together and think I did a damn good job parenting her without caving.

    Questions?

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be? Well, for appearance sake, plus I think it would be a fun convo, Chris Pratt. For a straight up interesting conversation, maybe Jane Goodall or Bill Gates.
  • @redheadbride15 I did, and have one for this (#3) as well. Its nice just to have some different/new/replacement things. Like bottles, pumping supplies, worn out sleep sacks/swaddles. Then you also get the completion coupon later on. Worth it for that alone, IMHO. Then if someone asks you can say sure look it up here.

I’m still really tired a lot and my nipples are hurting again. And I haven’t really felt reliable kicks yet! Come on baby!

    Questions?
At what age does a kid consistently feed themselves? Lately, I have to feed DS or he just doesn’t eat.

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be?
Anna Kendrick seems like she’d be cool and awkward, lol. Or Julie Andrews like someone said before! I’d also love to meet Monet and watch him paint.

I had to have a part of my toenail removed this morning and now I’m hobbling around and it hurts. Plus on antibiotics which always make me feel sick to my stomach. Ugh.

    Questions?
Does anyone else feel like a bottomless pit? I’m SO hungry these days it’s crazy, 3 meals and multiple snacks a day. I don’t know if it’s just baby having a growth spurt or something, but it’s out of control!

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be?
I don’t really care about “famous” people so I have no idea.
  • @redheadbride15  I started one on amazon just really to keep track of what we need, or what we need new/better versions of.
  • @LC12261012 we're twins! I'm hobbling around with a broken foot and I'm also a bottomless pit. Yesterday I would have a snack and five minutes later I was starving again.

  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 15w 3d, a navel orange. I measured a week ahead on Thursday, so We shall see if they move my EDD.

    Age(s) of other kid(s)? SKs: 16, 13, 11; DS 6

Rants/Raves? Rant: Migraines. They are getting really bad and completely debilitating. Like I want to saw my head off debilitating. Luckily (if you can even consider it lucky) they mainly some at night, and rarely last more than 12 hours, so I still am able to get things done during the day.
Rave: We had our "gender" reveal last night with the kids. We had a pinterest fail on my lego volcano, but it was still fun and exciting. They are all thrilled to be getting a little brother, especially the younger boys. Last nigh truly made my heart happy. I love my kiddos, they really are the best!

Questions? Tylenol plus caffeine occasionally works for my migraine if I catch it very early. If not then I am taking my fiorinol as directed by my doctor. Then if that doesn't make the pain stop I take a 1/4 of a phengren to help me sleep which tends to be the only cure. So question is why am I beating myself up about taking the meds? I have to function, and laying there in pain so bad I want to die can't be good for the baby either. I am so happy my kids are old enough to understand when I have one and they can take care of each other and themselves, plus DH has been great.

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be? I find this question very difficult to answer. I have too many and all for very different reasons. Living person: Amor Towles Dead: Thomas Jefferson

  • Questions? MIL says I must get a two kiddo stroller once LO arrives because she says DS will want to ride if sibling is riding. DS hasn’t wanted anything to do with his stroller since he was able to walk. Do you think it’s worth buying a new stroller to accommodate two?
It was true for me - my guy insisted on being in the stroller whenever the baby was (he was 2 when baby came) even though he had been out of it previously. He also wanted to be worn when he saw the baby being worn. But I don't know if it happens for everyone - my BF just had her second, also 2 years apart, and has managed fine without a double stroller so far (her baby is 5 months old).

  • @lalala2004 I haven't noticed pushing the stroller to be uncomfortable?  DS and I walk 3-4 miles each day on the weekends.  I'm not a speedracer, but we walk.    I can't believe you still carry at that size!  I haven't put him in the Tula in a few months and I can't imagine doing it now.  I don't need any extra weight on me.

@redheadbride15 I only did my registry for myself last time and I'll do the same this time just to get the discount.  I don't do showers or gifts.  Freaks me out.

How far along are you? How big is baby? 16w 3d an Action Figure apparently

Age(s) of other kid(s)?  DS is almost 16m

    Rants/Raves?
Rant: The 2-to-1 nap transition can suck it.  My normally joyful kid cannot figure out making the schedule switch and is being pouty and difficult.
Raves: We actually cleaned out Kid#2's closet this weekend to start to get the room ready for him- yay!

    Questions?
Anyone ever had a nanny?  How did you find them?  How did you trust them?  I'm going to be shopping for a nanny for the 3-6m window between when I go back to work and when Kid2 can go to our daycare.

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be? I feel like I would want to meet someone that could solve a mystery that their death provided the missing key to, but I can't think of who that would be right now.

  • @riverbed I'm sorry you're struggling with headaches too. I'm having them every day too so I feel your pain (see my rant above). Mine happen like clockwork from ~9am-2pm every day. I've been going to work but I'm totally useless all morning because all I want to do is curl up on the floor of my office (and saw off my head, as you mentioned). I then feel like it's a mad dash to get EVERYTHING done during the hours in the day when I'm feeling okay, causing much stress which is, in turn, probably not helping the headaches. My doctor offered me Fioricet and Reglan combination (which sounds similar to what you're taking) but I haven't taken the plunge yet because I'm anxious about taking meds too. I've never had headaches before so this is a new world for me. Not sure if they're migraines or what, only that they are predictable, persistent and excruciating.

@ecwk he is just under 30lbs. I guess
I figured the weight of the stroller+him is greater than just wearing him on my
back. I ended up doing it and it worked
fine. I’m glad I have the toddler Tula because with it being bigger, the weight is evenly distributed. It’s nice to have that option. Also, wearing him on my back helped even out the extra weight in front. I’m feeling less sore than I did the other day with the stroller.

@proudparent2b I’m not getting a double stroller because I figure I’ll just wear the new baby if DS is using the stroller. We will be getting a second, smaller stroller, to use for all day outings. Because if I’m going out for more than a few hours with two kids, I don’t really want to do it alone, anyway. Also, DS really likes to “help” push the stroller. Today he was pushing the stroller while my friend’s daughter was riding in it. I was starting to think today that I might get one of those big wagons when they’re a little older so they can both ride in it.

  • @redheadbride15  I had them starting in 2nd tri when I was pregnant with DS. I have tried to muscle through, but I honestly can't, the pain keeps me from sleeping and if I don't get mine to stop it just keeps going for days. My doctor told me that its better to take the meds than to be completely miserable and stressed and losing sleep.
Maybe a least fill a prescription and try it once to see if it even helps.
Hugs though, and good to know we're not alone. Hopefully they will be gone in a few more weeks.

  • @redheadbride15 I'm sorry you're STILL having headaches! Have you talked to your doctor about it? Maybe they can prescribe you something safe that will actually help.

I've made a few registries just to get the free baby boxes/bags (amazon, babylist, target), but really I'm just keeping track of a few things I want to buy or suggest to friends/family when they ask what we need. We really do not need any clothing because DS had a ton, and I've kept them all. But certain things have come out since he was a baby that I want to use, like a new baby bath seat, the newborn insert for the halo bassinest, a new play gym/activity center because we weren't a huge fan of DS's, a new diaper pail, snuza, a new wipeable cushion for the high chair, etc. A friend of mine is going to throw me a sprinkle, so I think I'm going to consolidate things to one list and have her include it on the invite just so we don't end up with tons of clothes or unnecessary toys.

Why? Oh you mean because you don’t have the first one anymore?

Also not sure about the double stroller conundrum. J want a double because I want to be able to be outside with both. I reeeaaalllyyy want an Uppababy Vista because it converts from a size for to a double so well and has great readable potential. But for the price tag im just not sure if it’s worth it! But I think having a double stroller will be a lot more hassle free when going out and about. But holy God, i just realised, how will i manage with a cart in target? DS in the seat and baby in the bucket seat in the cart? Omg

  • @ecwk Because in my head each kid gets changed in their own bedroom where the diaper pail is?  Or maybe the diaper pail should be moved to the bathroom?  These are STM things that I don't know about.  DS is 15m and still gets changed on his changing pad in his room.

I'm trying to avoid the double stroller.  DS doesn't love the stroller anymore.  Plus I was thinking in the beginning I can just baby wear if he does want to ride in the stroller?  I do like the looks of the Joovy one that has the step for him to stand on.  He's independent so he might like that better?

Phew, thank goodness Costco carts are made for Moms of two littles!  We go to Costco way more than Target.
  • I’m trying to decide what to do as far as diaper pails go, too. Right now we actually have two. the diaper genie for wipes and disposables and a big trash can with the wet bag pail liner for the cloth diapers. I really don’t want to double that for a second kid. So maybe we’ll move it to the new baby’s room and do diaper changes there? But then if baby is sleeping in there and DS1 needs to be changed? Idk. Maybe I’ll just get some small trash cans for it.

  • @ecwk for me it's because the diaper pail we have was fantastic for 2.5 years but the last 6 months of toddler poop have made it reeeeeeeek even when it's empty and it's killing me! Looking at the Ubbi since it's steel instead of plastic.

I have the Vista and love love love it. But I also feel like we've already gotten our money's worth out of it from the last 3 years with DS. I do know I'll use it even if DS decides he doesn't want to sit in the stroller anymore, but even though he's 3 and loves to walk, the snack tray keeps him very content in the stroller still, so hopefully using it as the double for a while will still be happening. It's easy enough to take the second seat off in case he changes his mind though.

  • @riverbed did you only have the headaches when you’re pregnant? I really hope they’ll go away too! I’ll be more likely to power through if I know there may be an end in sight. I may get the prescription just so I have it. It has to be awful to have them at night! At least mine are during the day so I’m sleeping well, even if my work productivity is abysmal.

@elsieisamoocow yes, I spoke to my OB about it at my last appointment - she offered the script and I said I’d wait a bit. She said I could just call her to fill it anytime with no need for an appointment. I may do that because my next appointment isn’t for over two weeks.

Thanks everyone - I did just start an Amazon registry today. I threw a double jogging stroller on there in case someone feels like being really generous (hahah), a second pack’n’play and a spare base for our bucket seat. Those are really the only things I can think of that we need/want right now. But it’s mostly breastfeeding supplies and diapers.

  • @redheadbride15 I had migraines (1-2 month) before I was pregnant with DS. After pregnancy they were gone! Maybe 1-2 a year and those were more tension headaches. I'm really hoping they go away again.

  • @elsieisamoocow this is why I always flush DS’s poo, even out of a sposie. That stink doesn’t just go away. Bleh.

@ecwk even when it was just DS and he couldn’t sit in the cart, I would wear him. I didn’t put the car seat in the cart usually, because then where would all the stuff go? I only did that in stores where I wasn’t buying much. Then when they’re older I’ll just have to hustle for a double cart orrrrrr just do grocery shopping while DS1 is at preschool.

  • oh we don't put toddler poo in the diaper pail (I have an Ubbi).  Once he started eating real food those poops get double bagged and taken immediately outside to the trash bin.  Only wet diapers go in the diaper pail.  Baby poo is different, I was ok with baby pool in the diaper pail.  I think the Ubbi contains smell better than the diaper genie's I've been around.
  • @livinthesunnylife. Same except I just had a regular trash can, as soon as I had to start supplementing with formula, those diapers went in grocery bags and straight to the trash outside.

  • I love our Ubbi. I got a hand-me-down diaper genie that I disliked and eventually got rid of. I wish I could flush DS’s toddler poops but they’re super-soft/almost runny. The kid loves fruit and I guess I’m happy we have never had constipation issues. We definitely use the strategy of emptying the trash often, but honestly I don’t smell much unless the pail opened.

For new baby I think we’ll just consolidate the diaper changing station into one room (either ours or the baby’s which he won’t be using right away anyway). I’m hoping DS1 will be out of diapers by the time we’re ready to transition DS2 to his own room. I’d rather have one diaper pail that gets emptied super-frequently than have to deal with two.

  • I got lazy with DS2 and he was usually changed on the couch in the living room so all of his diapers just went in the trash can in the kitchen. Poor second kid.

How far along are you? How big is baby? 17 weeks; pomegranate

Age(s) of other kid(s)? Two boys ages 4 and 16 months.

Rants/Raves? I'm feeling a lot better the last few weeks. Definitely have at least some energy back. But, I'm having a little bit of difficulty accepting I'm pregnant. Maybe "accepting" isn't the right word. I'm obviously happy, but I just feel like I never have time to think about the baby I'm growing. And, it's a girl after two boys, so it's just such a foreign concept. I haven't bought anything for her and I feel so unmotivated about the nursery. I'm not even obsessing over names, which is unusual for me. I feel like at this rate, all of the sudden I'm going to be 40 weeks and think, "Shit! I haven't accomplished anything!"

Also, I'm not feeling her move yet, so that makes it more distant. I had an anterior placenta with both boys, so I'm guessing it's the same for her.

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be? Paul McCartney. Always Paul. Technically, I've met him. But, it was on stage during one of his concerts  and we obviously didn't chit chat.

@livinthesunnylife, we've had two nannies. The first was a girl who was friends with my sister in high school. I took our first to her house three days per week (family kept him the other two days). She was great and had a son a similar age. As they grew up, they became friends. But, she eventually when back to working outside of the home, so we had to find alternate arrangements.

For baby #2, I posted on Facebook that we were looking for a nanny. Again, my sister for the win, because she shared it, and a former student of hers contacted me about the position. She was a GODSEND. She came to our house every morning (five days per week) and cared for DS2 (and sometimes DS1, but he still liked going to my Dad's and my grandma's a few days per week). She was 20, in college and so responsible. We employed her for a year and she never once called in sick or was even late. She kept detailed notes of naps, poops, food, etc. I loved her dearly. After a year, she accepted a position at a boutique owned by her friend. The timing was OK, though, because it was one month before I became a SAHM. She still babysits for us once or twice per month.

I tried to go through Care.com and had horrible luck.

  • I think we're going to try to get a stroller with a standing step in the back.  I think I like the joovy.  I'm hoping to baby wear as much as we can, but I fully expect there to be times when we need the baby in a stroller.

    17 weeks, pomegranate, I think?

    Rants/Raves?
DS is feeling sooo much better than last week with the teething.  So he's more cooperative and sweeter, and less clingy with me and more interested in hanging out with his dad, AND... he's much less interested in the pacifier.  He'll pull it out to do something and forget all about it for hours.  He went through a phase like this a few months ago and I've been kicking myself for not taking advantage and setting limits on when it's allowed.  So we tried it yesterday and it went really well!  We said he's a big boy now, so he only gets the pacifier for sleeping. I've never liked the "big boy" talk, but he's been talking a lot about being big and not little and not a baby, so it worked really well.  He talked about his pacifier a lot, but he mostly seemed pleased to understand the new rules.  It's only been like 30 hours since we started, but I'm still feeling wildly successful.

    Questions?
    Um... Not at the moment...

GTKY - If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be?
    Hmmm... Maybe Jane Austen?
  • @redheadbride15 Same on the toddler poop. DS never had constipation issues until we potty trained lol. He'd usually end up sitting in it for a bit while he was playing before I smelled it or he told me, so there was no way I was going to scrape it into the toilet.

We have a diaper dekor plus and I've really loved it, but it's the last 6 or so months that it's finally just not been the best smelling. I'm going to compare it with an ubbi next time I'm in BBB.
