  • The first two days of week 12 were brutal. I got violently sick with headaches, fatigue and nausea. I cried thinking I'd have to endure for any amount of time. But then I slowly started feeling like myself again! The thought of food didn't make me retch and my energy levels picked up. I think it was partly because i got to see the baby and know everything is ok from the genetic tests. I felt like i was bursting with happiness. Now at week 13 I am eating more! I cut back on the vitamin B6 because i dont really need it. I have more energy and I don't feel exhausted! Yay! I try to listen to the baby's heart with my doppler whenever i get a little anxious, which is amazing. Ligament pain is pretty omnipresent and the occasional tearing over the most mundane things. I'm trying to be in the moment, but I can't help to count every day until the next week! It was surreal to schedule the 20 week big ultrasound. People are asking where I'm going to deliver??? It's going so slow yet so fast. I feel so incredibly blessed.
  • @BusinessWife I’m sorry about your heartburn! A couple yrs ago (pre any pregnancy) I was diagnosed with LPR, which is a kind of acid reflux that affects the throat. Mine was very severe, but strangely didn’t cause heartburn - but treatments are the same. I took omeprazole for a while but stopped when TTC, but most of the changes were food related. Luckily I’ve been 99% better lately and since pregnancy bc I don’t think I could deal with both at once! Many of the diet restrictions just wouldn’t work - primarily no eating after 7pm and no carbonated beverages - hello nausea! Some things that did help me with acid reduction but won’t bother a pregnant tummy: melon, fennel, sauerkraut (like ACV it seems counterintuitive but the fermented stuff is all good for tummy health), bananas, decaf green tea with honey. Feel free to reach out to me if you want any “acid reflux life” tips, it sort of took over my life for a couple years!

Lurking from October, but I am huge headache sufferer even while not pregnant and the chiropractor helps! I just went last night after suffering for weeks and I already feel better
Great advice! I've been meaning to make an appointment, I will totally do that for sure!

  • So this is embarrassing but, it is the symptoms thread, so... I am SO itchy. I know that the increased discharge can cause itchy lady-bits but it is out of control. I’ve read that it’s not safe to “overuse” cortisone creams but they make one specifically for feminine itching. Does anyone have experience with this, or tips? Can I go ahead and use this cream regularly? My only other option seems to be to quit my job and just live/sleep in the shower.
  • @ashh2018 I would talk to doc about that, I've heard those creams can upset your natural balance down there, and itching can be a sign of BV or yeast, both of which many pregnant ladies are more prone to.

Entirely up to you, but I stay hair free down there especially when pregnant, because hair causes extra moisture and trapping moisture. I also only wear panties that are at least 90% cotton.

  • @pourmeamocktail that’s a good point, I’ll check with the doc. I’ve been wearing plain cotton undies, and I would be hairless if I had the nerve to get a Brazilian haha. I’m too chicken!

I know you said shaving irritates your skin but if you get some clippers, they sell smaller ones specifically for bikini grooming, you can buzz the area down really really short and that'll still help with air flow without irritating your skin.
  • @stothi I lol’ed at your lady town comment - we’re all sharing things we never thought we’d share I guess! Haha. I’m glad you’re feeling better and it went away! I’ve been sleeping commando and that helps (except every night when DH gets in bed, he notices and goes “oh, hey now!” And I have to be like “no, that’s not what this is.”) I have a little bikini trimmer so maybe if I keep that up better it’ll help too. Thanks!
  • Head has been pounding like crazy since yesterday. Tylenol won't touch it. I have a history of migraines. I've tried coffee, resting, ice packs, dark chocolate, pineapple juice, warm bubble baths and massages. Several things take it away for like 30 minutes but then it comes back. Really missing my Motrin. Ugh.

  • Yikes, trimmers are SO irritating for me! Almost as bad as shaving. You’re cutting the hairs mid-shaft leaving them supper prickly and stabby against and other skin that comes near it. If you’ve never done it, proceed with caution!
  • @klj0228 That's great! Those did nothing for me so I didn't even think to mention them but so glad they are working for you.

  • ashh2018 I'd see your doc. I am itchy down there this time too, but my first pregnancy, it was crazy. I had a yeast infection for two months solid. And it was horrible. I went to the doc a few times and he said I just had to ride it out. I was allowed to use topical Monistat, but those never worked for me. The oral pill is what always worked for me, but you cannot take that while pregnant. Hope the itching stops, I know how annoying it is.

This might sound crazy but I have an RX for diclegis from my nausea, and I have had a few debilitating headaches that tylenol, coffee (tried 4 cups one day bc i was DYING) and baths, ice packs, etc wouldn't touch - took a diclegis bc I knew it would help me sleep with the headache and the headache was making me queasy - and when I woke up from that nap I felt 99% better.  I have since done it 2 more times.  Do you have an RX for that? or can you ask for one?
