I personally don't have any experience with online boards let alone BMB but I did look at two other apps before joining the bump and didn't like the way the boards were set up and thought people were immature on them.
I really enjoy the support, advice and experiences from all you ladies. I am starting to see most of your personalities and I agree that we are getting to know each other still. Perhaps things will get more "dramatic" or "snarky" but until we know each other it is nice to know our questions or concerns will be received with open arms for now. Especially during this isolated time in our pregnancy where we might not be able to ask or talk about our questions and symptoms in our lives.
I don't quite understand the weekly check ins/ ticker change concept and find them repeatitive from our symptoms weekly threads and other threads so that is maybe why most of us havent started the thread?
My FFFC is I'm scared to have sex with my husband and haven't since we conceived 8 weeks ago. It scares me that it might make us lose something we have tried for so long. I know it's irrational and silly and not going to happen. So Tonight I'm going to try to not think about it and get down to business. DH is being patient and not saying anything but I know he's probably like WTF

@chyvie I don't think that's an irrational fear at all. For the first few weeks after getting my BFP, I was scared every time we had sex. TMI, but before getting knocked up I'd bleed almost every time DF and I had sex. So after getting my positive, I'd ask him every time we had sex if I'd started to bleed. The fear has since lessened as time goes on with still no bleeding, but it's still there. And every single morning, the first thing I do is run to the bathroom to check for bleeding. Anxiety is tough and so is PGAL brain. PS- I hope you have a great time tonight, if that's not a weird thing for me to say lol

I kind of feel like the weekly check-ins (whatever they end up looking like) will make more sense as we get further along. I don’t know about everyone else, but about four months in, I’m supposed to start going to see my OB like all the time.
Also, for the ladies who don’t fit into one of the other groups (AMA, PAIF, etc), it makes sure they are included.
I dunno. Whatever. Its my first BMB, so like I know the difference?
I feel like I haven't really connected with this pregnancy/baby at all yet and it's hard to feel truly happy/excited. I'm hating the first trimester -- I only feel pregnant because I'm super nauseated and tired all of the time and it hasn't become real because we haven't told people yet and I'm not showing. This baby is very wanted and (mostly) planned but it has the potential to make things more difficult financially (as all babies do!) and I'm really anxious about telling unsupportive family members.
I'm looking forward to feeling the baby kick and feeling excitement from the rest of my family and friends who will be happy for my little family, and I'm sure things will get better in the second tri. Maybe others can relate?

Agreed. A weekly appointment check in may be something that works, that way people actually have something to say besides 'yup. Still here. Waiting for my next OB appt. Still nauseated. Derp a derp'

Sooo why can’t we do ticker changes and weeklys? I agree ticker changes make more sense and it’s something I would do better at participating in. Would the board be too cluttered for some people’s tastes?
i think the thing is that the threads that get started are the threads we will participate in.
FYI - my only real objection to ticker changes is that I didn’t know what “ticker” meant. I had the same issue with a lot of the threads the first week or two...
My two cents about the ticker change threads is that the the weekly check-ins seemed like a better idea (to most of us) in theory, but it's not actually working for us as a community. I almost want to do another poll because I would change my vote.

I hit 8 weeks yesterday and I agree it would have been fun to “celebrate” here. I’ll be cool with whatever but am all for the ticker change! 2nd wk check in has been pretty much nonexistent anyway.

Just jumping in here to add that the reason I liked the ticker changes instead of the weekly due date check ins is that then you’re checking in with people who are at different weeks than you, so you get more of a mix of symptoms and issues based on how far along everyone is. I think that’s more helpful than having only people who are, say 8 weeks, all checking in together.
The questions thread is stupid. We used to just ask questions and if someone asked it again we'd be like umm use the search function... maybe this is more of an UO?
@hellopartyof5 I have a question on this - if it’s within a thread, would it not come up on a search function? If so, I could totally see ditching it. I just saw Sept had done it and thought it would be a good way to keep the board a little cleaner, but that would ruin it if not searchable.
@chopchop25 I’ve wondered the same thing. Because if someone asks a question one week, it would be so hard to remember which question thread it was in.
@cdepperschmidt exactly my thought- no one would want to dig through all of those. Hopefully search results would find them, but now I’m wondering.
