Re: Next Question, Please (3/4)

  • @doxiemoxie212 even if bending at the waist isn't possible, squatting is still sorta ok. I think I'm already at that point. just steady yourself.

  • To answer the above, I’ve already started to cut back on bending over. I figure the quicker I get DD used to it, the better. (EG, nope sorry, I can’t help pick toys off the floor, but can help with ones on the table, etc.)

my close friend suffered a mid 2nd tri lost last year. Next week is the one year anniversary. Because her husband is also in DH's circle we all got together and got them a spa day and gift card for dinner last year. I'm wondering should I do something for her this year, or don't bc that'll make it worst? If so, what should I do. I'm not interested in getting the whole group involved. I should note for mother's day I got her a card and flowers and dropped them at her door.

  • @doxiemoxie212 I second getting a poop grabber. I am having the same issues. I use a grabber tool to pick up DS’s toys now.

  • @ffw0617 that is very sweet of you to remember. I know people handle these things differently; personally I would appreciate some type of acknowledgement when those anniversaries roll around. I would say a message or card just stating that you know this may be a tough time for her and to let you know if she needs someone to talk to or a coffee/dessert date to take her mind off things. Even if she doesn’t take you up on it, I believe it will mean something to her that you remember.  <3

  • @ffw0617 thats incredibly sweet of you. I think people sometimes feel really alone during those times and I agree with @2589 that just a small gesture like a card and an offer would be appreciated and mean a lot.
  • New Question- has anyone looked into starting a 529 plan for your kids or has one already for other children?
    DD born 6/21/2018
    DS born 9/24/2020
  • @elsie42 we have a 529 for DS.  You can't sign up until after the kid is born (need the SSN).
  • @MissKittyDanger That's a relief that all went well!  I'm glad you got to see you're LO  :)
  • @profmcgonagall @2589 @amys614I think I will drop a card and flowers off at her door tomorrow.

  • @becca_123 Yeh I was so relieved the second tech said cervix was showing clearly :) Extra bonus for the face ;) We clearly had just woken her up also hahahaha
  • This may have been discussed previously. So please excuse my pregnancy brain if it has.

Anyone else wake up sweating all the time? I don’t remember this happening with DS until postpartum
  • @MissKittyDanger such great news! I'd be curious about your questions too!
  • @BurlapandLace YES! I woke up last night and had to change my t-shirt because it was damp from how much I was sweating. I have been sleeping in oversized T-shirts & just undies. Our heat is set at 65, I've got a fan on and usually end up kicking the blankets off at night. It's been terrible. Not sure how to solve this problem!

  • @BurlapandLace Yes! I sleep in a tank top now because I'm so damn hot MOTN.

  • @MissKittyDanger more than likely they won’t change your due date at this point! They really only do that based off the very early dating ultrasounds (I’d say like 6-9 weeks). FWIW, with DD I only had the one US (AS) and she was measuring 3 days big. Her due date based on LMP was July 5, I spontaneously went into labor and had her July 2. Coincidence? Hard to say. However based on my ovulation date I was suspecting July 3. Could mean a few days early for you, or could just mean a big baby!

  • I tripped and fell backwards, right on my back. I feel okay, little sore, but no cramping or anything serious.
Do you think it warrants a call to the clinic? Obviously if anything changes, if I start having any symptoms, I'll call asap, but I'm wondering if I need to call right now or if it's not a big deal.
  • @BurlapandLace this just started for me too, been kicking off the blankets and taking my pants off....haha, it was 16 last night and we have the heat at 65.
  • @May14th2011 How scary! I’d personally wait. Maybe drink or eat something sugary to make LO move around just for piece of mind.

  • @May14th2011 were you bending or squatting when you fell (I.e. a shorter fall)? If you were standing at full height, I think I’d call and let them know just in case.

  • @2589 I was standing at full height. I'll probably call just for peace of mind.

The clinic said if I feel I need to, I can go into l&d to get checked. It's kind an ambiguous answer, so idk... maybe if DH can get off and come watch the kids.

@May14th2011 ouch.... you can call for peace of mind but since you fell on your back instead of your belly I doubt they will have you come in.  Do you have a home doppler or have you been feeling any movement since your fall?

+1 to being hot and sweaty with this pregnancy.  I'm usually always cold- and even with DD was on the cooler side so I'm not enjoying this.  I haven't woken up covered in sweat yet (thankfully), but I've also been stripping down to sleep in my nursing camis instead of t-shirts or nightgowns instead of pants.  Almost all of my maternity clothes are fall/ winter since DD was born right after xmas...and I am thinking I need to buy some maternity shorts and a few more dresses for April and May.. but since I'm not planning on having a 3rd any time soon (or ever) I don't want to spend any more money on maternity clothes.  :(

The running warm is also making me feel more swollen than I am... I have had some swelling, but if this trend keeps up and really worried about fitting into my flip flops come May.

  • Any reason to not order a breast pump now? I finally got a response back about which ones are covered by my insurance (yay Spectra), so any reason to not just immediately order?
  • @2589 yeh it's just a week difference. Current EDD is june 6th, and u/s showed june 3rd and based on average weight, that's pretty much showing same as u/s. It'd put me a 27 weeks 4 days, instead of 26 weeks 6 days based on LMP
  • jsl82jsl82 member
@doxiemoxie212 you can order it now, but do not use it.  I remember when I was pregnant with DD being told that using/practicing with the breast pump while pregnant could cause labor to start.  You can bring it to the hospital with you- if they have LCs available, and they will be able to help you with any questions you have about the pump.

  • @doxiemoxie212 I ordered mine last month but they won't ship it until May (one month before EDD). Doesn't hurt to get it on order and out of the way!

  • @doxiemoxie212 my hospital / practice has a medical supplier come around and deliver one to the hospital at the time of delivery.  He handles all the insurance paperwork and everything.  It was nice to not have to worry about it - see if yours does something like that before you order.
  • @doxiemoxie212 Just be careful about warranty.  My insurance says the warranty on the pump starts the day i receive it, not the day i'm due.  So, if i order now, i could lose out on 3 months.  Not a big deal to me, because I have one from DD, but just something to think about.

  • @doxiemoxie212, I already have mine. I ordered it early due to being overseas and it came really quickly. I have it just sitting in a box though because it all seems so overwhelming. I got a spectra as well!

  • @doxiemoxie212 I agree that the only thing holding you back might be the warranty coverage, as it would start earlier, therefore end earlier (side note, make sure you register your Vista because it extends the warranty from 1 yr to 3 yr).  I'm still waiting to hear back from aeroflow but from what I understand my insurance only offers medela and ameda, and I'm bummed because I wanted to join the spectra train after @krashke's review.  Not a huge deal since I won't be pumping at a workplace.
  • Has anyone else had an increase in near choking? At least once or twice a day I nearly aspirate a piece of food while eating....
  • I already ordered mine and it came. I wanted the Spectra too but they covered Medela and ameda so I got the pump in style. May still get the Spectra on my amazon registry I haven’t decided.
  • @katie121209 I have the medela freestyle from DS.  My insurance only covers one pump every 36 months, so I won't qualify for a new one until September. I still might get the Spectra from Amazon because it is incredibly reasonable.
  • @May14th2011 how'd everything go? Did you go into l&r? Thinking of you!

I've really got to go check out the recs on breast pumps. My company has an internal social media and everyone gave rave reviews of spectra order medela so I was leaning that way. I'm glad everyone here seems excited about it to!
  • @doxiemoxie212 I ordered mine through yummy mummy about a month ago and just got it last night. I was super surprised because their site specifically says they ship in due date order and that many insurances don't approve the claim until x number of weeks so I wasn't expecting it at all. I had a friend who ordered one early, she went into labor at 35 weeks, baby was completely healthy and able to come home and her pump wasn't there yet. I think she ended up renting one for a week until hers shipped after she called them. No big deal either way, but I'm glad to have it done and out of the way, because well, I procrastinate on everything so this is a 1x rare occurrence for me.  :#
