So, I felt like I had o’d Sunday or Monday. I triggered Sunday night and had IUI Tuesday. On Tuesday, they said at the ultrasound there were in-tact follicles that had the appearance of soon to be ovulated. There was no mention of any collapsed follicles to indicate another follicle may have already popped.

FF gave me CH for Monday.  How I reliable is this with clomid/gonal/ovidrel?  Is it possible I laid an egg and then the other follicles ended up rupturing, too?

OPKs had started to darken Saturday night/Sunday morning. They were not blaring positive until post-trigger.

In the the grand scheme of things, I get someone else’s interpretation of this doesn’t change much. I’m curious, though.

  • @jrm_14 I’m confused. They did an ultrasound on the same day they did your IUI? Did you have any US or BW before your IUI? Fertility meds can mess with your temperature which makes temping unreliable during a treatment cycle which is why the RE does US and BW to check your levels. Also, you can’t go by OPKs, if you triggered, O will be 36 hours after trigger unless you possibly ovulated beforehand. Can you give a little more info about the cycle?

@beachbunnyxo123 I had a CD2, CD9, & CD13 (IUI day) u/s. No labs were done during the cycle. The CD13/IUI u/s was 37.5hrs post trigger (ran behind schedule that day at clinic).
It makes me feel better about the temps being off due to meds. Yet, I’ve seen other people temp through medicated cycles.

Thanks for  the inbetween the lines of letting me know to put down the BBt & OPKs & madness ;)

eta: Cervical position has been a constant sign of O for me when it drops to LFC. Is CP more unreliable during IF treatment?

  • @jrm_14, I don't have any experience with IUI and triggering, but both my cycles with clomid, I temped and it was accurate, but my temps were a bit spikier than normal, so I can see inaccuracies being common.
  • @jrm_14 Have you tried putting in two more days of temps at 97.8 or above to see if your CH's move back to CD13 or 14? I am one of those who had crazy temps on clomid. I was able to see a rise pattern but my temps were overall higher than in other cycles and FF initially put my O date a day or two earlier than what I thought and then when my temp continued to climb moved the CH's. Also, seeing when your +OPKs were I think CD13 is more likely or even CD14, but idk, do you usually get +OPK after O?
  • @jrm_14 what was your follicle size prior to IUI? I tried to temp my first medicated cycle and drove myself crazy! The process is already stressful enough! I’m surprised they didn’t do bloodwork to check your levels to see when your surging? That’s how they know when you’re ready to trigger. This was your RE? Sorry you’re dealing with this stress and then the lateness of your appointment I would have beef with my place for doing that this is time sensitive stuf here!!
  • @beachbunnyxo123 - At mid-cycle U/S on CD9, I had three 14s and a 19.  Yes, this was at our RE.  I'm just sitting here driving myself nuts, when in reality it doesn't really change the outcome.  If it's a bust, it's IVF.  If it's not, clearly the timing was good, regardless of O date.

@Zamora_spin I do not usually get a +OPK post O- however, I used a trigger shot.  CH stay on Monday if I add in two more high temps, or if I discard Sunday's low temp.

Moral of the story: I'm making myself more upset by analyzing this when it is what it is.  Thanks for the input :)

  • @jrm_14 oh good though looks like you responded well to the medicine!! Fx for you although I’m glad you have a plan in place moving forward either way!
  • FF question.  I bled cd1-7 didn't for a week, and have been bleeding for over a week again.  I am stopping BCPs this week and started temping this morning.  FF is calling today CD 24 when I would have thought the new bleeding was CD1.  It doesn't really change anything, but is there a way to override it and make that CD1.
  • @holly321, sure! Charts management (side menu in the app) will let you start a new chart, split, merge, etc.

@jrm_14 Laying eggs...Jesus, we sound like hens  :D What were the sizes of follicles on IUI day? If coco is right, I wouldn’t pay attention to FF if meds to mess with temps.

Also, statistics show Ovridel is 91% effective.

I kind of had this same issue and question about timing this cycle too so you aren’t alone. Why is the next step IVF? What about injectables first?

  • @suzycupcake I can’t remember exactly the follicle sizes on IUI day. 3 matured over 18.  We are already doing injectables. Both IUIs have been with injectables.

@jrm_14 Ok if you had 3 mature on IUI day, I would not worry about the timing of the IUI at all. Request a P test at 7dpiui. Make them order it. Don’t settle for anything less.

For inhectable IUIs, I read 3-4 tried is usually good before IVF. I know it’s a personal decision though. We will most likely go to injectables next cycle if this one fails. I’d be interested to hear more about your thoughts bc it would be nice to check in from time to time with someone who is considering IVF too. What’s your diagnosis?

  • Hello, so FF keeps telling me my temp fluctuations are on the high side. It suggests I'm not temping correctly, but I have a wearable temperature tracking device--Hi Mama. My last cycle it looked like I clearly ovulated. Any thoughts on why my temps fluctuate so much? I stopped bc in the middle of January so last cycle was just off of birth control, FF stills says it is an unusual fluctuation.

  • @slightlysillysarah, I honestly didn't know FF would tell you if you had too big of fluctuations.  But, I have always had large fluctuations and jumps on temperature and it could still tell when I O'ed.
  • edited February 2018
@slightlysillysarah do you temp orally or vaginally? You might have less fluctuation if you temp vaginally. Although some people just seem to just have the rocky mountain/fluctuations. I do. Mine are all over the place but I'm still able to identify O (when it's not an annov cycle that is) ;)

Eta: just reread that you use a wearable temping device... In that case I have no clue other than suggesting try using a bbt and see if you have more consistent temps? Seeing as pre vs post O temps have such a slight difference surface body temp is less than reliable, at least thats my understanding anyhow.

  • Oral and vaginal bbt is the most accurate. I wouldn’t trust an external thermometer personally. Also, coming off of bc in middle of January means you’re ur body is most def still adjusting.

  • @slightlysillysarah I also use a wearable, but for the first few months used a BBT temping vaginally every day too to check how accurate it was with the temp pattern. If I wear it on my left arm it’s nonsense. But on my right it’s perfect. Now I just use BBT in fertile week as a backup with the wearable on my right arm every night.

MH is interested in taking this supplement for weight loss/energy/sugar cravings. Anyone ever taken RoyalXXI or their spouse, or have inputs about the ingredients?

Also, additional poll: Am I ridiculous for telling him to message the RE about it first?
  • Ooh, this is probably where I should've asked my CD1 or 2 question instead of in my WTO post. So here goes: if you spotted really, really lightly (like 2x when wiping that day) and then AF came the next day, would you count the spotting day as CD1 or the next day when it was full blown AF?  Thank you!!!
  • @maureenmce I would count th first full day of flow as CD1!  Hope that helps :)
  • @maureenmce ^^wss... also some hints that helped me, ny OB always says count first day of full flow as cd 1. Spotting doesn't count. Also I've read that of you wake with it or get full flow before noon, count that as CD1 but if you don't get it until the afternoon/evening than count the next day as CD1. Dunno if that helps but it did for me :)

  • So I'm using OPKs after a long time not using them and I totally forget when to start testing.  The website is saying CD 11, but is there any harm in testing a couple days earlier just so I don't miss an early O? I don't typically O early, but my most recent cycle was my TW first cycle after a loss, so it was a bit wonky end TW and I just don't want to miss my window this time.

    Thanks so much!
  • @maureenmce  From what I understand, there's no harm testing early (other than the expense of using more sticks).  Especially as you get used to using them and knowing your cycles again, I think it sounds like a good idea!

  • @maureenmce I would test a couple of days early, just in case. My last cycle (TW**which was after a CP **End TW), I ended up getting a super strong positive OPK on CD11 (normally I O on CD16), so I missed the window.
  • Thanks so much @hlb8179 and @ChloandCoco !  And yeah @ChloandCoco that is exactly what I'm worried about. My last cycle was super weird (I don't even think I O'd) so I am trying to cover my bases this month. Thanks for the feedback, ladies!
  • @maureenmce, I was pretty much just about to ask the same question. I think I am going to test early just this cycle at least, just to get an idea of what the progression looks like.
  • @holly321 Yeah, I think I'm gonna start testing on CD9, then just keep testing until I get a + OPK. Not sure if I'll do that every cycle, but at least this month while everything with my cycle is getting back to normal.

Temp taking question when traveling... do you temp the same time as if you were at home regardless of the timezone? So if you normally temp at 4:00 AM central and are going to eastern time... would you temp at 4:00 AM eastern? Or stay on your "normal" time-zone.  Also... with daylight savings coming up... do you adjust when you temp to reflect the time change?

I have a question about temping, this appears to be the right place to post that.

Basically since my bfp in Jan **tw** which ended in a loss and D&E last week**end tw ** I wake up anywhere between 3 and 5 and CANNOT fall back to sleep. Like at all. I just lay there hoping and praying I'll fall asleep again. At 530 my temp alarm goes off. I've only been back to temping since Monday just to try and figure out what's going on during this awkward time (and I had only been doing it for about 4m prior to bfp). So my question is are these temps accurate even though I've been awake anywhere from 1-2 hours? Or should I temp when I wake up (because it's very unlikely I'll go back to sleep) even if it's at random times?

Eta that I'm not planning to start OPKs again until after my next period (which hopefully will be end of the month since my surgery was on the 1st)

@prpl11butterfly When I was temping, I noticed that if I woke up early but didn't move, my temp was still pretty reliable.  If you notice that your temps are fluctuating quite a bit right now, I would consider temping when you wake up and again at your normal time of 5:30 putting the 5:30 temp in your chart and the earlier temp in the notes.  If you notice your temps are pretty steady then I would just leave it for now.

  • @lurvleybunchococonuts The DST question has come up with every time change since I've been on the board and I think I actually asked about it once.  And then I checked FFs FAQ afterwards lol.

  • Thanks @lulu1180. Aside from Monday mornings being really low,  they don't look too bad. I'm going to keep temping until my post op (I think) to see if I O before that since FF has my O predicted for that day. After that I might just stop until my period. FF actually keeps "yelling" at me about my temps. I was always pretty rocky before. Maybe now I won't be. Who knows.
  • @prpl11butterfly Just a heads up, I've heard that the first cycle post loss can tend to be a bit longer and wonky.  So don't get too frustrated if you don't O "on time."  I'm sorry for what you're going through.
