@DunkinDecaf@knottieamusements@sammierose464@mytrueloves Thank y’all! I recovered after my ugly cry. I texted DH and he was super sweet and also told me to calm down and stop being irrational about money, which I definitely was, and I felt better. I found my work badge and then a coworker made me take three of his peanut granola bar things because “I’m pregnant and need to snack” and he didn’t even know about my lunch mishap haha. It also didn’t help that I had been awake since 2am thanks to being on call for my job, and sleepy and hungry definitely make a toxic combo.
As always, here I am late to the party but my preggo anxiety has been at an all time high these past couple of days and it relates to the earlier part of this convo:
I've had really regular periods my whole life. Even on BC I was super regular. So got off of BC in Dec and did the deed quite a bit that month (we were on vacay, it was romantic). I felt super pregnant in January kept testing and getting BFN's and then AF came 4 days late (4!!! I've never been that late) and only lasted 3 days and was done. So FF to February 11 when I get super sick at a seafood festival after 3 beers and some fish (which is bizarre because I'm pretty heavy drinker at those kinds of events) and I test Feb 12 and got a faint positive. That was 7 days before AF. I tell you all this to say I'm nervous that I may be 10 weeks and not 6 like I think I am. I'm probably being ridiculous but my paranoia is so bad I'm about to grab a fetal doppler (from a classroom in the school I'm at, it's a medical school) and see if I can hear anything.
@mrsmartinez16 If your BFP was faint on Feb 12, then you are probably not 10 weeks. You would have been getting really dark positives by then. Since you got a positive so early, you might have ovulated earlier so it's possible that you are actually 7 weeks, but probably not 10 weeks. You can always request an ultrasound though to confirm.
One of the moms at DS’ forest school just had a baby, so a meal train was organized for her family. I volunteered to make stuffed shells with meat sauce, which is like my favorite thing, but I’m barely functional today with MS, and standing over the stove is the last thing I want to be doing right now. The smells..ugggh.

That's what rational me is saying! But irrational me is crazy and she cannot be calmed. My u/s is a week from today so I'll get confirmation then, this waiting game is just the worst. And no matter how many symptoms I feel I never feel like everything is ok. I'm a hot mess
@concreteayngel for what it's worth, that sounds so good right now (and I am at a point where almost nothing sounds good). but also, I cannot really handle cooking anything. even boiling noodles makes me feel extra nauseous. But would you care to share your recipe so that I can ask DH to make them for me?
I swear, my baby is going to come out as a little latino/a because the only thing that sounds good and I am eating (besides pasta) is latin food- lomo saltado, empanadas, tacos, quesadillas...its all I want. I would kill for some seafood paella right now.
@mrsmartinez16 I'm with you on the symptoms thing. I was literally throwing up all evening yesterday and gagging all morning, but now that I am feeling somewhat ok this afternoon I'm convinced something is wrong. Also, I'm on Unisom/B6 now, of course my symptoms are getting better. I will feel so much better when this stupid first trimester is over.
I feel basically fine today except I'm tired, but that could also be due to being on call all this week. We're supposed to go out with friends tonight so I probably won't get into bed till late, but I'm sooooo looking forward to sleeping lots this weekend.
One of my friends (a chef) and I have an inside joke about Kumquats and Uglifruit. I’m his Kumquat, and he’s my Uglifruit. I haven’t told him yet about being pregnant because he tells his wife everything. Nothing against her, but she is definitely not on my “first to know” list.
But then today- it’s my ticker change and I’m 10 weeks. I like to go to some of the different sites to see what they compare baby’s size to- and according to babycenter.com, little Blast is - the size of a Kumquat!
My friend and I are supposed to have dinner tonight. I think I have to tell him. If for no other reason than the sake of the joke.
Normally have been eating something carb like for breakfast and 'normal' food (meat, cheese, veggies) the rest of the day. Today went with eggs for breakfast and felt like crap all morning. Just had pasta for lunch and I feel like a pretty normal human again. Pregnancy is so weird.
@knottieamusements It was a sign! Also, until I looked at baby center and saw the same thing I never knew what a kumquat actually looked like
True story - the nicknames we have for each other came about when I didn’t know what a kumquat was and he had never heard of am uglifruit. So, I had been watching the produce section of my local grocery store, and found both on the same trip a few months ago!
I realized as soon as I saw the kumquats that, not only did I know what they were, I had grown up eating them! My parents have an “ornamental miniature orange tree” - which is actually a kumquat tree!
Sauce Ingredients: 2 lbs ground beef 1 yellow onion, diced Handful of Italian parsley, chopped fine garlic-3-4 large cloves, minced 8 Oz- fresh mushrooms, diced (I like to use baby Bella’s), stems discarded 28 Oz can of tomato sauce 2-2.5 cups of beef broth or stock splash of red wine salt and pepper italian seasoning
Brown the meat, drain fat Then add in onions, garlic, and parsley. Cook over medium heat until onions are soft. Salt and pepper to taste (I’m pretty generous with salt) 4-5 shakes of Italian seasoning Throw in mushrooms and a splash or 2 of red wine. Cook down another 3-4 minutes to cook off alcohol.
I then transfer my meat mixture to a Dutch oven or deep sauce pot, and add the tomato sauce and beef broth. Stir until combined. It should be pretty watery.
Simmer on low for at least 1 hour until sauce is the desired thickness. The longer it simmers, the better it gets. Adjust seasoning as needed.
Lots of ingredients and steps, but so worth it! You could also totally cheat and add some browned meat and spices to a jarred sauce, as is done in links for the shells.
@acciocoffee Excellent idea. Sorry you had to test out that theory, though. Hope you're feeling better.

My friend had insisted on making dinner, and I had told him a few days ago that I was having “stomach issues”, so light on the oil, only chicken for protein, and no fresh tomatoes. But he kept being like “so light on the spices, right?” And I’m like “no! All the spices!”
So when he got here, I told him we needed to have a serious conversation. I told him that I had a parasite in my uterus that would be gestating another seven months, and at the end, I will have a tiny human. His reaction was priceless! OMG- you have a para... wait a minute... OMG you’re pregnant!!
And dinner- chicken on a bed of basmati rice with mango and papaya chutney was delicious.
Thanks for the advice @acciocoffee! I grabbed one on my way out the door this morning since I have been nauseous all morning. Luckily I didn’t have to use it but will leave it there just in case. @knottieamusements That is such a fun story! I am also curious about the kumquat...did you tell him about that too??

@spartan4life - I did tell him that Baby is currently the size of a kumquat. He was suitably amused.
