@stephanienj congrats to the 8. Fx they fertilize well and make it to blast for freezing!

@txjewel I’m sorry hear about your cancelled cycle! Hoping your next cycle will have a better outcome!

@prudence9-2 hopefully your levels well increase and your re will have some answers for you! Still hoping you can continue stimming and may need a high dose or just more time to respond...

@mcgeeva hoping your ER was successfully with plenty of mature eggs.

@TruStory welcome, this is also my first ivf too. I’m already super emotional without even starting the Meds yet!! I want so bad for it to
be Friday so I can start but am also so worried about a negative outcome. But all I can do is be hopeful!! Btw my dosage for injections are the same as yours!! Good luck!
  • @stephanienj congrats on your retrieval! I’m sure you glad to be done too!

@TruStory and @prudence9-2 hang in there the shots suck and excitement definitely fades to wanting it over with. Even if slow you will get there!

So today we got 36 eggs. I’m high risk for ohss and was told today that I now need to see a doctor Friday for hypertension. I guess when I was under my bp never dropped so they want that taken care of before I get pregnant since I had issues with my first pregnancy. But with that all being said I’m in bed with Vicodin and glad my husband was able to wake me up to have dinner downstairs for my sons bday and do his cake. Sorry for the freak out all last night, I felt like death and was so scared me being so sick was going to ruin today. Lord glad it’s over.

@txjewel I am sorry you got cancelled but agree that it's better than keeping on with poor results. I hope next cycle goes well for you!

  • @mcgeeva - Congrats, that's amazing!  FX they all fertilize, and I'm glad you got to enjoy your son's birthday! :)

@prudence9-2 - Good luck with the bloodwork- I'm excited to see what your next level is.

AFM- I got the call this morning from my REs office- of the 8 retrieved, 5 were mature. They did ICSI on all 5, and as of this morning, all 5 are fertilized, which I'm so happy about but at the same time I'm really nervous with this low number that there won't be any left on day 5.  I honestly have no idea how I'm going to get through the next 4 days! I think I had my expectations set too high.  I know it's about quality and not so much quantity, but because my AMH and FSH are great, I was really hoping to have more, but if the 5 we have currently are good quality and they all make it to day 5, then I may potentially have more than I'd ever actually need already!  I'm so torn, this process is brutal.  Does it get easier the more cycles you get under your belt?  I think REs should start prescribing valium for the wait in between, lol.

  • stephanienj  I hope all 5 make it! I don't think it get's easier. This process sucks no matter what!

  • @mcgeeva Glad to hear your procedure went well!  Hope your fertilization report goes well!

@stephanienj Keeping my fingers crossed that all 5 of your embyros keep growing!

@prudence9-2 hopefully your increased dosages will bump your e2 up. I have a lot of different elements going on and am OOP too so I think we're just being more cautious. I did so well with the other protocol so this one just didn't seem to be heading the right way so let's try a different one!  :)

  • Alright day 2? is it day 2 or one..not really sure but out of my 36 eggs only 21 fertilized so now I guess we wait to see each day how they dwindle.

  • @stephanienj FX they all make it to blast!!!

@mcgeeva that’s great fertilization report! Did you ask how many of the 36 were mature? And today would be day 1...

@txjewel still no b/w results. But I requested to talk to the doctor. Im thinking if I’m only going to have 1-2 blasts maybe switch to fresh transfer. And if I have 3 or more keep the plan of freeze all + PGS. Not sure when he’s suppose to call me. Last time for me was also totally different. We’re doibg the same protocol. But I’m almost 1.5 years older.

  • prudence9-2  yes out of the 36 only 26 were mature. So I guess out of the 26 only 21 fertilized. I am just guessing most people end up with around 6 left at the end of the day that are usable.

  • @mcgeeva how old are you? I find the age charts to be pretty good indication for how many will make it.

When i was 41, during my first IVF, I had 30 retrieved, 21 mature, 20 fertilized. And 8 made it to blast. Out of the 8, 4 were PGS normal.

  • @mcgeeva yep. I had 4 PGS normal embryos. And now I’m doing IVF because I’m left with nothing.

You’d think that out of 4 PGS normal embryos you’d get at least one healthy pregnancy... but not in my case.

@josiepasta you got a great amount! Let us know the results tomorrow :)

  • Hi Everyone!  Wow things have been busy around here!

@stephanienj, @mcgeeva, and @josiepasta - congrats on all of you eggs and fertilization! I hope they all make it to blast!

@prudence9-2 - have you heard from your doctor? I'm excited to hear what your new levels are.

AFM - RE called today and said all 7 were still growing and would be biopsied tomorrow. I tried to get more info, but she kept saying that they looked good but they wanted another day...
  • @mcgeeva I hope you will not have to do this again too!

@josiepasta that’s great! FX for a good fertilization report tomorrow!!

AFM... had a long talk with the doctor. I have 12 follicles, 3 are too small to measure, 3 didn’t grow much since Monday and 6 are growing.

We decided to wait for Friday and see how many are still growing. And if it is only these 6 maybe cancel and do another IVF with a different protocol.

If if we don’t cancel, since we will not have many blasts (if any) do fresh transfer. But it’s a new doctor so I’m not sure he knows I need another 12 hours of PIO after ERA. So maybe fresh is out of the picture.

    Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born.

6/17/13 - Ovidrel, Follistim, Prometrium ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP! March 17th our St. Pattys day baby arrived

    10/29/17 - Started process for IVF, got pregnant & miscarried a 2nd time since summer. 2/22 started stims - Menopur, Gonal F, Cetrotide - retrieval 3/6 - , PIO, estrace 3xday - FET 4/18 = Beta 1: 616; Beta 2: 1342 = BFP

  • @mcgeeva thanks. I keep going back and fourth about the decision to cancel if only 6 grow. I think the doctor thinks that the BCP start might have suppressed my ovaries. Even though it’s exactly the same protocol I’ve done last time.

  • Thanks @prudence9-2 If I were you, I wouldn't risk a fresh transfer unless my RE said it was absolutely safe.  I was planning to do a frozen transfer this entire time until my RE gave me the go ahead and said that a fresh transfer would no longer be risky.

My transfer is scheduled for Monday at 8am.  They say to "take it easy" the day of the transfer, but does that mean take the entire day off from work?  I sit at a desk, so minimal physical activity, but it is a somewhat high-stress job and I would prefer to just stay home and relax and maybe take the dogs for a nice walk.  For those of you who have gone through this before, what would you recommend for your transfer day?

@josiepasta why didn’t he recommend fresh and now he says it’s ok?

Will they give you valium for transfer? If you take valium, def take a sick day. If you can, just take a sick day. Go home, watch Netflix.

If you can’t take a sick day it’s fine too. You’d be able to work. Just take it easy...

  • @prudence9-2 she didn't recommend a fresh transfer at first because my AMH levels were so high and she suspected I'd produce a lot of follicles/eggs and be at risk for OHSS.  But because my progesterone levels were so low throughout stims (they were around 0.6 the entire time), she said I was no longer at risk for OHSS and we could go ahead and do the fresh transfer.

They offered me a valium for transfer, but only if I had a driver.  I have to go over to the clinic in another state for the transfer and my husband can't take off work for it, so I will be driving myself, so no valium for me.  Maybe I'll just casually check work e-mails from home.

@josiepasta last time I had a risk of OHSS. this time I’m far from that.

Not sure if to try fresh. For fresh everything is different as it is “more natural” so maybe I won’t have the problem with the receptive window like frozen.

  • @prudence9-2 this is just an old wives tale (I have no clue about scientific backing), but I heard that drinking 100% promegranate juice can help with lining before a transfer.  I’m going to give it a try.

I’ve also heard eating pineapple core after the transfer helps with implantation.  I’ll try anything!

  • ***Totally lurking,  but just wanted to chime in to say that Red Raspberry Leaf tea built up my lining insanely thick,  for those concerned about lining. Full disclosure, I don't have lining issues and on my own I get to around 9mm, but when drinking 2-3 cups of RRL tea per day from CD1 - O, my lining was usually btwn 12-14 mm so I had a really good response to it.  I've also done the pomegranate juice before but never on its own so I can't vouch for its results. You can only drink RRL tea up until transfer because it is not safe for pregnancy (until you're at the end and trying to induce labour...).

  • @mandurz thanks!  I’m really excited about my numbers.  I’m not doing PGS because I’m doing a fresh transfer, and you have to do frozen to do PGS.  Also, since it’s my first round of IVF and I’m towards the younger end of the spectrum, my RE didn’t recommend it.  If I have a couple failed transfers, I would consider doing PGS.

  • Hi everyone! Just got the call from the RE's office today. Five out of seven made it to blast. Two were biopsied on Day 6, three were biopsied on Day 7 and now we are waiting on the testing.  Does anyone know anything about Day 7 embryos, good or bad? Obviously I will be stuck in the rabbit's hole that is Google for the next few hours but I thought I would ask. Hope everyone is well and has a wonderful weekend!
  • @tosh24 cool. I’ve never heard of Red Raspberry Leaf tea for lining! I’ll go look for some :)

@frenchiemom80 wow! 5 out of 7 made it to blast!! That’s amazing. Can I ask how old are you? I don’t know much about day 7 embryos. But I can tell you that the percentage of normals for me was higher on day 6 than day 5!

    @josiepasta when is your transfer?

AFM... yesterday at the appt 8 follicles were in the game. Another 3 didn’t grow and 1 disappeared. I will continue with this IVF. But if I don’t have more than 5 follicles on day 3, I will just transfer all then. Otherwise wait for day 5 and transfer.

Im taking a risk of transfering an abnormal one in my age. But since I haven’t tried fresh transfer, I wonder if I’ll have better luck. Just hope that if one sticks it’s a normal one. As for the ERA results, since fresh and frozen are different I just hope that I don’t need an extra time like for FET.

what made me feel a little better yeaterday was the fact the fact that my lining is already 6.8!! For my IUIs I was always on the thin side. Which is why I’ve been doing medicated FETs.
